0.6km from Gumbleton English Tea RoomThe Petit Noord has a good although not a quiet location near the train and bus stations. The staff at the reception desk are very charming and helpful. However, the hotel is more like a backpackers hostel than a hotel. Two years ago we stayed at the Metropol in Brussels, one of Europe's great hotels and paid E140 p.n. for a "superior" room. Here we paid E110 p.n. There is no car parking facility and we had to pay the daily fees at the adjacent public car park. There is no lobby or any public area where one can read or chat. The first room we were given was next to the boilers and suffocatingly hot. The telephone didn't work. The extractor fan didn't work. Wifi seldom reached as far as the third floor. The curtain hardly covered the window. We were then moved to a room which was better but far from special. All this wouldn't have bothered me had the rooms not been so expensive.
