This was our 2nd time back to the property and was our first family staycation in 2+ years since the pandemic. Booked our return visit with Marriott points before they raised the redemption rate. Our previous experience was exceptional from prior check-in communication to the club lounge to check out, so I had the same expectation this time.  While I was not disappointed, it obviously showed the pandemic or staffing issue affected the current service level.  This time, it took a while for the guest relation to get back to me prior to my check-in.  It also took a long time for them to deliver amenities we requested. Check-in process was pleasant though; I purchased the club lounge access at check-in and was told the club lounge was only open for the first day during my stay.  Honestly, this should be communicated during my emails with guest relations prior to check-in but nobody mentioned it to me until I already arrived at the front desk.   Twitter gave me misleading information about the club operation hours.  As of late March 2022, the club lounge is only open Fri—Sun.  I agree with the previous reviewer that the Club lounge access may not be worth it and may not be for everyone.  I always purchased club lounge access from every Ritz Carlton I visit, since I do not drink at all, service, convenience and food selection at the lounge become an important decision point if I should pay the extra.  This time, although I already know I was paying a steep $400 + tax, the food selection was below my expectation.  The food offered at lunch or dinnertime was so limited, that I thought they were just appetizers, but nope, that is it.  On the good side, every staff at the club lounge was attentive and friendly.  So, a big shout out to the club lounge team, I know they were doing their best to serve.  Here is a turning point, and this makes the exceptional service shines.  We had a couple of issues that arose on our first night, while knowing those were out of the hotel’s control, Alexa from guest services escalated the issues we encountered to Rafael G., the Director of room operations.  Rafael resolved our issues promptly with such care.  Panisha and Miguel from the front desk also helped our transition to the other room smoothly.  We had a pleasant experience for the rest of our stay.  At last, after our “A Series of Unfortunate Events”, the way Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay handled our issue with care really won our hearts back.  So, yes, I will return to this property in the future no doubt.

This hotel was recommended for a wedding that we were attending in the area. If you are looking for a water view or somewhere within walking distance of area activities, this is not the place to stay. If you want a base of operation that is easy to reach by car, has nice sized rooms, nice staff, and some amenities, then consider this hotel. The front desk staff aim to please. The rooms are large and comfortable. There is no elevator if you are on the second floor. Please note this if you have mobility issues. The hot water is plentiful, and the wifi works well. A basic continental breakfast is included. The hotel has a gym and pool, as well as free parking. There is no room safe. You will need a car. The hotel is expensive in comparison to similar hotels in other parts of the country. However, I understand that it is somewhat reasonable for this region.

We went for midweek break with our dog. This is a relatively new hotel and the room was very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Due to COVID regulations, breakfast was provided for take out, lunch bag style. There was a good variety of fruits, yogurt, cereals, and coffee/tea on offer. There were also individually wrapped hot sausage/egg sandwiches available. The hotel was quiet, despite being next to a popular British Pub. We were on the ground floor near the pub, but there was no loud noise either evening. Unfortunately, the "grassy" dog area had been replaced with mulch and was not comfortable as a potty area; the neighbor's dogs barked loudly whenever someone approached the corner. There is a small wood across the way which serves the purpose better. Please pick up after your dog. The road in front of the hotel leads to the coastal walk and a nature reserve. Within 20 minutes, one can walk to popular beach where dogs are allowed. Half Moon Bay downtown is only a few minutes drive away and definitely worth a visit.

We were set up to stay in the next door motel portion of Zaballa House but I requested a change to one of the upstairs rooms of the main historic house where I had stayed before. I love this place where you walk into a cozy seating area in the front room, then meander into its history room, and the next morning enjoy an excellent breakfast at a big table with other patrons.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary with a beach trip. We checked in at 1 pm, put our stuff in the room, and walked to the beach. Around 4 I got a call from another guest saying that my luggage was in her room. The front desk had taken most of my stuff out of the room and told her we had checked out, but left my luggage in the room. We ran back to the motel our minds spinning about the possibilities of my purse being stolen, our car keys and car being stolen, someone driving our car to where we lived and robbing our house, and identity theft. When we reached the motel lobby, we asked where our stuff was and was shown that most of it was in a basket. We asked Jeff at the front desk where the rest of our stuff was. He did not want to take responsibility for the incident and told us we could just go back to our room. After hearing that our belongings were unsecured we were upset and did not feel safe or secure anymore and did not want to stay. We asked for a refund and to check out. Jeff refused and said he did not have authority to issue refunds. We asked for the manager. But were told that the manager, Savannah had the day off on a Saturday and was not available and refused to come in or be on-call. It is mind boggling that in the hospitality sector there is no manager available on the busiest days of the week and during pumpkin season which is the busiest time of year for Half Moon Bay. We asked to be checked out but were refused and then told to vacate the lobby. I stated I needed the rest of my belongings and to be checked out. I did not want an open account until Monday as they would charge us for 3 days when we had not stayed even overnight. Finally Jeff opened the door of the motel room so I could get my luggage. He said he would print out a checkout receipt, but instead told me to leave the premises and that he would call the police. I stated I would like to talk to the police to straighten the issue out. It is completely reasonable to have a checkout receipt. The Half Moon Bay police came and are very nice and helpful. They convinced Jeff to check us out and print a receipt with $0. However, Jeff never took responsibility for the incident or the negligence and neglect much less an apology. He ruined our anniversary. I would not want any other guests to be treated like criminals like this motel treated us. They still charged us for the room which the credit company is disputing for us.

The rooms at Miramar Inn & Suites are spacious but cold. The good part: The King size bed was comfortable. There was a table with two chairs and a love seat. The TV had plenty of programming, some aspect ratios were messed up on some channels but I see this all the time even in upscale hotels. I could not find liberal newscasts such as NBC, CBS or ABC in the channel guide. This is good or bad depending on your view. The bad part of this room: There were no pictures on the wall and there were no lamps on the night stands to create that pleasant lighting effect. There were LED lights way up in the 10 foot ceiling that are 6000 or 7000K Kelvin which is cold, cold white. Probably very good light for a factory floor but not for a hotel room. The heater was very noisy and sounded as if it was about to break down any moment. Adjacent room's heaters could also be clearly heard. The most deceiving part: THERE IS NO BREAKFAST INCLUDED as advertised on all websites. The reason they gave me: Covid 19. Why then keep this misleading advertising? During our recent road trip, we found that some hotels and motels no longer serve breakfast due to Covid 19 while others in the same state do serve breakfast as usual. We did not get a discount for not getting that advertised breakfast. And there is no room service, which we did not mind and perhaps it's better not having someone go from room to room, potentially spreading the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Found online, we stayed one night here. Actually stayed in the room in the pic. Really clean! Moss beach bluff just steps away. Bikes available(2?), self serv coffee, soda, wine, frige down the hall, gas fireplaces, NO A/C if too warm; Kevin brought a fan for us, and explained the meteorology of the area to us. Was still warm in our room. LIGHT, but pretty, breakfast included, fresh OJ; cottontails and many birds in the garden. No restaurant/kitchen open for more than breakfast. Bring a corkscrew. Restaurants located just south of Moss Beach. If the entire experience was brought to the next level and the owners spent more time on the "attractiveness to travelers" of the place, the value would be better realized. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, but many caveats as noted in these reviews need to go away with the new owners. More bikes, maybe electric assist bikes, actual garden, so much potential.

This Inn is across the street from the beach. From the room, and outside on a shared deck, you have a beautiful ocean view. Rooms updated and large. No elevator, at least I didn't see one. Staff was wonderful. I had a few room requests and they were taken care of before our arrival. Breakfast was decent. Self serve and individually wrapped. Ice machine in the room with small fridge.

This hotel had some mixed reviews, so I wanted to make sure to leave a review because I thought it was great! We stayed one night for a conference taking place down the road. It was easy to find, there was lots of parking, the hotel clerk was very friendly and informative, the rooms were remodeled and had everything one may need. The bathroom was extra spacious which was perfect for 3 ladies rooming together. The coffee-room had Keurig coffee and lots of snacks, which I thought was nice. I would highly recommend!
