My father and I stayed two nights at Hotel Villa Falkenberg in August 2019, and my husband stayed three nights in May 2019. (Friends of our stayed several weeks in August while in the process of a family move.) We all loved it. My husband highly recommended the hotel after his stay in May when he came to Dusseldorf for a confirmation, and Hotel Villa Falkenberg absolutely lived up to the hype. Everything was exquisite and clean. The beds, sheets, and pillows were comfortable and fresh. A candy on the pillow was a lovely touch. The breakfast was stunning and delicious. Hotel Villa Falkenberg has lovely gardens and is close to a trail where you can take a nice walk along the Rhine to the center of Kaiserswerth. Susann Maurer, the chef, and staff were friendly, helpful and kind. We are already planning to stay here again the next time we are in Dusseldorf.

On arrival here I was greeted by Klaus, a really friendly German fellow who spoke great English (at this point my German was non-existent). He was really helpful and got me checked in quickly... just what you want when you've been traveling for several hours. That friendliness carried on through the rest of my 9 day stay. The breakfast team were always smiling and happy to help, even though I couldn't speak their language at the beginning, they spoke flawless English. Dennis always greeted me with a smile and a friendly hello and I really felt welcome. The hotel was clean and tidy, my room was nicely done each night, and the mattress was comfortable. Breakfast was good as I really like fruits, yoghurt, cereal and all that stuff so I could put my own together. If you're a cooked breakfast fan, this place might not be for you. If you're a European cold meats and cheeses for breakfast type person, you're well catered for here. I couldn't really fault Barbarossa and for the money it was great. It's super easy to get to the Messe Düsseldorf on the train in the morning too. The main thing that I will remember about my stay here though was Klaus and his colleagues. Always friendly, always laughing, helpful, funny, just a generally lovely person. He certainly went above and beyond and thats what made my stay in a strange town with a load of people I didn't know. If I ever own a hotel... I'm coming to seal Klaus away so we can give the same service to our guests. Thanks again Barbarossa. See you next year.

It’s very close to the airport and it’s a five-minute walk. It’s very convenient to take a rest for a night if you are connecting. There is a supermarket on the arrival floor of the airport, which is convenient for shopping. The hotel has a restaurant, but one was opened during the epidemic. The original Japanese restaurant is not open anymore. .

I booked the Messeschlaf for a quick overnight stay during BOOT, the ten day water activities/scuba diving show at Messe. Check in was very quick and efficient, I loved the friendliness of the owner who speaks perfect English and helped me with some queries as to local takeaway delivery. I had booked a single room and it by far exceeded my expectations: spotlessly clean, some toiletries provided, it had a desk, super fast free WiFi, a small sofa and a comfortable full sized single bed. In short, a perfect hotel for a quick visit to Düsseldorf if you would rather not pay the much higher central Düsseldorf prices. Lohausen might not appear as the first choice when visiting Düsseldorf but it has excellent connections by bus directly to the airport (the bus stop is a few mins on foot from the hotel) and a Tram line within a short walk from the hotel (around 15mins) if you wish to get into town or to the exhibition centre at Messe.

A very nice hotel situated only 5-8 minutes away by car from the airport OR 15-20 mintes away if someone wants to walk.Situated in this quite Duesseldorf district it sures secures a very nice sleeping period whereas nearby there are parks as well as restaurants one to be recommended is the Greek Brot und Olive only 10 minutes away from the hotel). City center is 5km away but there is regular mass transportation i ncese you do not want to walk. The personnel was really helpful, the breakfast rich as the usual German one and the rooms spacious and clean. Only dsisadvantage to my eyes is the 15:00 check in as many flights arrive early in the morning so you have to wait. Overall Iam supre satisfied!

Me and my wife stayed here for 2 nights in the top floor and the room was awesome, plenty of space, awesome view, comfortable bed and drink from the minibar where included. Bathroom was also great, but I think from an environmental point of view maybe won't need to discard a half shampoo bottle after only one night. We came here for the Boot expo in January, and after walking all day around at the expo it's nice to have a Sauna on the top floor. Breakfast was delicious!

Let's start with the good things : The hotel is near the expo, that's unbeatable and would of course justify prices that a hotel of the given standing is worth. The prices on their tags are just way out of any reasonable pricing - at least partly. Let me draw a more differentiated opinion: The breakfast is tagged 14€ - that's reasonable, the quality of the food is ok, the coffee comes from automatic machines and is ok, so does the juice which I personally do not like. All in all in comes with the convenience - out of bed into the breakfast room - that's ok then. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is good. Amenities are limited to the minimum offering ok shower gel from a dispenser. Parking is invoiced 16.90 per day of NO-event and 20 per event-day. The event-day price is ok und fully understandable, however the 17€ price tag for an empty garage is just perceived as rip-off. Of course you can do it but don't expect the customer to like it. Generally staff was kind but indoctrinated. Ex. the patio was explained to be a "Trink-Terasse" (you can only have a drink there)... too bad the Lift shows pictures and adds where BBQ is served on that very same terrace. Business-rooms are sold with "free unlimited Internet" ... except it is limited to 2 devices, and asks you to log in again and again... I was given voucher for extra devices but those expired after one day... so going back every day to get a new voucher was a bit to weird for me. Two days before the end my unlimited Internet had run out... well I returned a day earlier than planed since I need Internet to work and LTE coverage was (amazingly) not stable on that spot (which is of course NOT the mistake of the hotel). When working the Internet speed was good - the coverage - where I used it - was excellent . BUt that is to be expected. Unfortunately the hotel Internet does not work over the Expo (while it's the same backbone - that would be a huge plus) The room was also advertised with one bottle of water per day (comes in handy if the next supermarket is 3km away) ... there was none on the room, I had to ask and when I asked I was given vouchers so I could get those... The hotel advertises itself as 3* and here on TA it's even 4* ... guys, let's be serious, that youth-hostel level - and honestly that's what you get but for the price you can get a 4* hotel in Germany. If you are not with your car plan on being precise - the Strassenbahn (Tram) has varying schedules - it takes you +/- 30 Minutes to the center. The car is quicker but prepare for a hefty parking ticket when you want to go downtown, better stay a bit outside an move a km or two (Düsseldorf is a chick city :) ) The hotel offers a restaurant but with very strict restrictions - after that you can order Pizza etc ... but you'll have to eat on your room despite the restaurant is closed, so no way to gather with your friends - unless you do that outside in a warm summer evening. I had 25 people traveling in from all over the world for to participate in the Allegheny Technologies Incorporated Leadership Development Program for managers. I had several options available to choose from between Dusseldorf and Cologne and I'm thankful I chose the InterContinental Hotel in Dusseldorf. I worked with Miriam Roettger in the sales department for two months leading up to the event and she was so helpful. Working via email when there is a 7 hr. time difference, cultural differences and language challenges can be a bit overwhelming; however, Miriam made this seamless. I arrived ahead of my group and check in was very quick and extremely friendly. The rest of my group whom were flying in from all over Europe had their flights canceled due to bad weather. I worked with the hotel to ensure this delay wouldn't impact our participants when they were in deed to arrive. Management was wonderful to work and assured me our participants would have a room upon their arrival. Both Mohammed Bouskri and Thomas Krieger from the Concierge desk were outstanding to work with and very attentive to our needs. They helped arranged transportation from the airport for our participants, recommended restaurants and helped make reservations. I wouldn't have been able to provide such a world class experience for our leaders without the help of Miriam, Mohammed or Thomas. I'd be remiss if i didn't mention the front desk service, everyone was so nice, kind and helpful. A very wonderful experience from day 1.

The breakfast was good and the location was good, ten minutes walk from the main fire of Duse, the hotel is on the subway, but the room is really small, really small, really small! And the bathroom decoration is average! Obviously the decoration of other hotels in Germany for 60 euros a night! It's only good to look outside, we regret it when we enter the room! Really not worth the price!

Well located modern hotel near the Rhine and near the Fernsehturm, walking distance from the old city center of Düsseldorf. Quiet area, but still a lot of restaurants and fancy bars are close to the hotel property. Car parking under the hotel. Public transport available to take you to the Hauptbahnhof or elsewhere. Rooms are spacious and the bathroom with rain shower is trendy and big enough.

Pros - -Everything very clean -Large room -Good location -Friendly staff Negatives -Concierge wasn't very proactive. I first asked for a restaurant recommendation by the river and was told to go to the Grill House which was no where near the river. Second asked to book a specific Thai restaurant. It wasn't available which of course isn't there fault. But I wasn't given any other recommendations and just told it wasn't available. I would have at least expected them to offer some suggestions proactively. - The Maître D' at the lounge/restaurant was quite rude. He wouldn't even let me up the steps until i showed him my room key even after explaining I was a hotel guest and was simply trying to get to room. He physically blocked my entrence. It was very off putting and not at all welcoming. He apologised once I showed him a room key. -Room technology is showing its age and not working correctly. Room is controlled by touch screens of which only 1/2 of worked when we checked in and the other broke on the last night. This meant we couldn't control lighting, curtains and air con, was offered a new room but didn't change due to being 10pm at night. We switched off the room manually using the switch board. This should be checked before guests check in. -Spa and Pool area is bookable at the moment so due to Covid. We booked an hour and slot and somebody else was using the facilitates at the time we booked. No one was manning the door and we didn't want to share a sauna so we left. -Breakfast restaurant was full and we had to sit out in the lobby. I am not sure if all the diners were hotel guests but it would have been nice to give in house guests priority seating first. -No self service coffee was available in the living room due to covid which is totally fine. It would have been nice if the staff member proactively offered coffees and tea as a replacement. Overall it was an okay hotel but nothing special. Having stayed at the Capella in Singapore It definitely doesn't live up to the same standard.
