0.38km from Hindemithplatz (Berlin)I took my wife to Berlin for a city break to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. It was not my original choice for a romantic getaway, but it delivered an interesting and fulfilling weekend away. I had chosen the hotel from a number offered me by the travel company and I had checked the reviews on trip advisor and saw enough to encourage me. When we got to the hotel I became nervous as it looked a bit run down and the stairs up to the reception were not very clean and the lift was very small. However, the staff were very nice and very helpful, we had arrived too early to book in, but they were happy for us to leave our cases in the dining area and to come back later, which is what we did. The hotel is located at the top end of the fashion district with big name shops such as Channel and Versace, a short walk away. Turn left out of the hotel and about 200 meters away is the underground which links to the overground trains to central Berlin. Go one stop on the "u" train and then upstairs to the S Bahn and you are in central Berlin in about 20 mins. When we got back to the hotel to book in we were delighted to find that our room was huge with a double bed, two sofas and a table an chairs. The en-suite was comfortable if a little compact, but it was clean and there was everything you would need for a short stay. The crowning glory was the balcony which looked out onto Kurfuerstendamm and gave us a prime view of the Berlin marathon on Sunday morning as well as somewhere to smoke and relax with a drink. The breakfast room was clean and had plenty of tables, but you did feel a little hemmed in at busy times. The breakfast was plentiful and offered continental and cereals with very nice coffee and tea. The toaster did not really work well and we may have had more luck with a candle, but that was the only downside. All in all we had a great stay in a spacious and comfortable, clean room, with friendly staff and good access to the city.
