Hotels Near Hotel & Restauration Hagen In Haren Review
The Parkhotel in the city of Meppen is located near to the river Ems and the local wood and not fare away from downtown. I spent a whole week there and since I wanted to make a bicycle tour every day the start point was ideal. The room has a good size, the necessary appliances and all was clean. There is also a good equipped fitness room to relax after a tour and a sauna. I found that the hotel personal is friendly and helpful with all clients The category of the hotel restaurant is first rate. It offers an abundant breakfast buffet and different dishes well prepared and tasty for dinner. The relation between quality and price is acceptable.
My room was in the newly built part of the hotel. It was very quiet, spacious and very clean. The best part was the efficient and quiet air conditioning, as we had temperatures of 35 degrees outside, yet it was beautifully cool in the room. The duvets were down feathers and very light and comfy. The owners of the hotel were very friendly and recommended sights nearby. The buffet breakfast had a wide range. Service was excellent. Location and value good. All in all, a very pleasant stay. To be recommended
The hotel is in the middle of cycling country. Nice place to start long cycling trips throughout the nice (mostly) flat countryside. The hotel hosts are charming. The hotel itself is... How shall i put this, they do their best by building the place but it lacks the overall quality you expect. Definitly dont(!) stay outside in the cabin. It is not cosy and not worth the money
This just about the only hotel in this pretty little village. Nothing to complain about but having had a great little hotel in Dusseldorf this place was lacking the finer touches. The breakfast was OK, but a limited choice of hot food and no pastries on offer. the decor is modern rather than traditional. Unfortunately, it reminded me of a Holiday Inn, my least favourite chain.
We stayed here as first and last stop in a bicycle tour. In both instances we were welcomed friendly, had pleasant dinner and breakfast and, with warm weather, had a nice cold beer in the garden. Rooms were large, and are divided over a new wing and an existing part. We would advise to ask for the new wing: beautiful bathroom, fine bed and pillow, quiet (there are not at street side). Breakfast buffet is good looking, dishes covered and with good coffee (not the terrible 'american coffee' often found at other places).Service is as we like it: thoughtful. Location is not particularly interesting (industrial area). Advised when going on a trip like ours.
Well presented on arrival and easy to find. Bit of a language barrier with the staff but we got there eventually. Room was nice and window opens fully. Not very noisy unless the church next door has its bells going. No kettle or drink making facilities in the room. Pillows are very strange, 1 is massive and the other is tiny. Tv only has German channels which is expected really. Wi-fi is very good, we had 3 devices running off it all at once without any issues. We had a big problem on the first night when an old man walked into our room at 2am, absolutely no idea how as the door was locked. Spoke to staff the next morning who were baffled as to how it happened. Our personal thought is they registered his card to our room by mistake and he happened to return to his room late at night and couldn’t access his own room so went around until he found a door that worked. Come to this conclusion as one of our keys stopped working so seems the cards aren’t great plus easy mistake to make by reception. Spent the rest of the stay with the chair up against the door at night to avoid any more unwanted visits. Food was ok. Minimal choice and only small amounts put out at a time so if the restaurant was busy it was a bit of a who gets there first wins scenario. Like only 3 eggs put out at a time and 5 sausages. Once they were gone you have to wait while more were cooked. They have a Michelin star, although the food wasn’t that great. Looked into having dinner there but didn’t get what half of the menu was. Stuff I’d not heard of before. Hotel closes each day, at which point, they lock the doors. You can leave out the back and use you’re key card to get back in the front but no staff available after closing. Also, we had an issue where 1 card stopped working. Luckily we had a 2nd one otherwise we would have been locked out. Never seen this before in all the hotels I’ve stayed it. Very strange operation. Meppen itself isn’t great if you don’t speak German. We tried going out for food at a few places and decided against it as no one could understand us and we couldn’t understand them. Instead resorted to shopping at a local Aldi and McDonalds and used the self service machines.
