Tizeze Hotel is conveniently close to the Addis Ababa Airport. The hotel is modest and well-priced and the staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. Honestly, I received the best consideration and service from Bobby (guide/translator/host/new friend) and Kefyalew (driver/escort) than from any other location I traveled to. They saved my trip. During most of my time in Ethiopia (7 days), I was sick. I spent my first and last days in Addis Ababba. On the first day, I asked the front desk for a taxi to take me to a market in the late afternoon. They responded by sending for Bobby and arranging for him to take me around town and help me communicate in the shops. Upon my return to Addis Ababa, Bobby again joined me on a customized tour of the city. Kefyalew drove both days. He was very invested in sharing Ethiopian culture and experiences with me. He contributed to the itinerary and the timing. I highly recommend this dynamic duo to any travelers who want to guarantee they enjoy their time in Addis Ababa.

This place is great. The showers are warm, the breakfast is great, and the beds are comfortable. It’s a short drive from the airport, so it’s centrally locates, but isn’t loud at night. Traveling and staying in Ethiopia, the accommodations can be hit or miss. Often times you get a small cement compound with stark rooms and questionable plumbing. My wife discovered it on one her previous trips to Ethiopia. It feels like a hidden gem. The gated courtyard also serves as their dining area. It’s relaxing, shaded with trees and well decorated. The breakfast is great. My kids loved the pancakes and French toast. The firfir was a hit as well. If you don’t want to stay at one of the large hotels this is a great option.

The location on the map is incorrect. The property is located behind Rwanda Embassy, after three blocks and about 200 meters to the left. I was scared to walk once it got dark given almost non-existing street light. I booked the property thinking that it is in front of Medhane Alem church. I went there way past midnight only to discover that there is no such place. I felt cheated. If you are thinking of enjoying the night life in Addis while at the same time walking around feeling safe, this is not the place - contrary to the location where it claims to be.

The location is good on the street in front of the Ramada Hotel. The decoration is simple and atmospheric. Although there is no air conditioning, it is not stuffy and hot because the rooms are all north facing. There is no problem with ventilation during the day. The best part is the Chinese Panda Private Kitchen next to it.

Stayed here for two nights after another hotel had messed our booking up and very glad I did. The rooms are a really good size, the bathroom is excellent and the beds very comfortable. The location is good, close to the airport boulevard, the room facilities are slightly outdated, the room is not air-conditioned, there is a gym but the environment is average. The location is good close to the main road and very close to the Addis Ababa International Airport. The rooms are decent but absence of a table makes working a bit difficult. The staff except at the reception are ignorant of English language and communication is a nightmare. The restaurant offers only Arabic food and with very limited options. Being forced to eat refined flour based kubz in the Injera country is not nice. There is no breakfast buffet and the irrespective of what is ordered, we end up eating stuff made of refined flour. The tariff at ETB 1000 per day is OK.

I couldn't come to the guesthouse (December 2018), because my flight had 24 h delay. I wrote Abe that I will not arrive. I was sure that I will have to pay at least for the first night (according to the rules of booking.com), but Abe managed everything and said that my cancellation will be free of charge. Dear Abe, you made my evening! Thank you very much. I hope that with my positive review I could do somehing good for your guesthouse :) It's very important for the travellers to meet nice people! I had some work in Addis and my gracious host put me up at this hotel. When I checked in in the morning as I had to freshen up before going to the office, it was into a not clean room. There was nothing for use in the bathroom which I reported at the reception on my way out including request to clean the room. I had noted that the bathroom glass door handle was broken, the carpet stained and sticky which I pointed out to them. I then went on my way to start my week in Addis When i came back to the room there had been a semblance of an attempt to clean it but still wanting. I tried to ring the reception but there was no number written anywhere so started guessing till I called 200 until someone picked up and told me to ring a different number for reception which did not go through at all. I left it alone and went to sleep. Day 2: When I came back from my day, I spoke to the reception again and they sent up a supervisor or something to find out what my issue was. There was no tissue and shower gel so they brought me some. The staff was really friendly and they changed the sheets and pillow cases; see I was quite paranoid about it’s cleanliness seeing as I had checked into a not clean room the previous day. They wanted to clean the carpet while I was in the room I asked them to come the next day when I had left for my day. Day 3 and 4: Long story short, I just couldn’t wait to leave the place. They definitely need to do something about this place for sure!

Like the title states, this is one of the best views in Addis. The hotel is relatively small and only occupies floor 4-6, as the other floors are leased out to businesses. Each room is like a mini self contained apartment. Huge bed, kitchenette area with fridge, cabinets, cooker and over. Then the bathroom is off to the side and quite spacey. The bed to balcony area is where you truly get your money’s worth. Slide back the blinds, pull open the sliding doors and you’re looking directly at Medhane Alem Cathedral, to your left - so close, you can pick out the Sunday prayer crowd. While, laid out before you is the entire city, with the mountains in the distance. So, while the hotel is lovely, there were a few major let downs, like: the shower flooding the rest of the bathroom and despite raising this and being assured it’d be fixed, it wasn’t; my room wasn’t cleaned for about three days until I insisted (I wasn’t informed I had to leave my key at reception before heading out, if I wanted my room cleaned); some furnitures were a bit old. Which is why my review rating is an average rather than higher. However, I believe if you have a mind set of renting a room in an apartment rather than renting a hotel room, you’ll truly enjoy your stay and it’ll be worth it - well except for the bathroom issue. Pros - Balcony views - Medhane Alem Cathedral (Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo cathedral is the second largest cathedral in the whole of Africa and the largest in Ethiopia) is located next to the building - Less than 15 minutes from the Airport - Shopping Mall about 5-10 minutes walk - Tomoca coffee house on the ground floor of the Impress Hotel building - Kategna traditional restaurant on the ground floor of the Impress Hotel building - It’s more like an apartment than a hotel room, and you’ve all the utensils and amenities you need - Lovely staff that are very willing to assist - Airport shuttle pick up is super nice and per the city standards, will have you feeling like VIP - Security downstairs (which is great as the area is very dark and quiet once the restaurants shut at night - circa 11pm/12am) Cons - Church prayers are super loud and transmit far and will disturb/disrupt your sleep (it earplugs work for your, bring them. You’ll need them especially if your stay is from about Friday - Sunday or during any religious/fast periods) - Spotty WiFi - Room 602, which I maintain offers the best in the hotel has a crack shower floor. This wasn’t fixed despite raising this numerous times. The water leaks out and floods the bathroom until it eventually drains out - It’s more like an apartment than a hotel room (this is also in the Pro list. It depends on your travel preference) - Neighbourhood very quiet and dark at night (after 11pm/12am)

The property is old and dusty but perhaps that was part of its charm. Don’t expect any luxuries. Don’t expect the staff to understand or speak English perfectly. Don’t expect AC or for the hotel to provide a fan. The property is located off a dirt alley about 400 meters from main drag. The local residences surrounding the property all have multiple dogs which bark in unison all night long with each passer by the alley. There are roosters that start cranking up around 4 am. Bottom line...bring ear plugs or crank up the white noise app on your smart phone. The breakfast was very basic but being free it was priced right. The ordinary menu was adequate and priced well. Local Ethiopian Beers are priced below a dollar in the restaurant so you can’t go wrong with trying the various choices over course of the stay. The Indian restaurant nearby is good. The VERY local cuisine restaurant around the corner specialized in goat and was very good for the more adventurous gastrophiles.

This hotel is not located in the center but the airport is close by, 5 minutes drive. In the area everything is real and authentic. In a word, we have the opportunity to explore the non-touristic Ethiopia. The rooms are large and clean, the staff is kind, the restaurant is also good. The Internet works when the country is there. At the end of June it did not work in all of Ethiopia for a week. Now in the hotels is but on the phones is still not .

We ended up spending 7 nights at the Caravan Hotel in total at the beginning and end of our trip (the last part unscheduled due to some transport difficulties reaching Harar). The hotel is very comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when we needed to book some additional nights at short notice. The location is pretty good also as the Caravan is pretty close to the airport (with free shuttle). Nearby restaurants such as Bait Al Mandi and La Mandoline were excellent and there are a couple of good drinking establishments in the neighbourhood (Elsa's on Mike Leyland Street and the Topia Tej Bet in a street behind the Axum Hotel). Good value for money & recommended.

I am Gym member here, i love the ambiance of the gym, the pool and the spa. I feel like i am in another world when i come here. The Gym is becoming popular now it used to have only few members before. But i like it better this way because I am one of those people who like to work out with a crowed. The staff is wonderful and very helpful, But the Gym's greater asset is the trainer Ephram, his professionalism and care is amazing he try to attend and help everybody in the gym, and everybody in the gym appropriates him. I even changed my work out schedule according to his shift because he pushes me to work out. The only thing i want to mention is, as a member we get an ID and card key for the elevator it would be nice if our ID work as a key instead of carrying two cards just as an idea. And also there is no way to control who is a member and who is not. i know for a fact that some members bring their friends for work out with out paying, so there has to be some kind of control. otherwise this place is the best.

The overall environment is pretty good and has the same domestic 4 stars. If you do n’t know how to eat, it ’s not satisfactory (it may be a common problem in general hotels in Addis). The standard of the restaurant is about 2-3 stars in China. Generally speaking, it ’s Okay. The location is on the edge of a hotel street. It is better not to go alone on the side road on the bad side of the hotel. I heard that it is not safe. It is best to go in and out on the other side (opposite the cafe).

Hi, This was the third hotel - guest house (including one of the most expensive) i visited in Addis, they are the best when it comes to service, friendly stuff and also cleaning. The biggest issue in Addis is the service, i believe there is different definition for service there. :) mostly service people are not very helpfull, sometimes rude and getting information is very big issue. But at Fasil, everyone is very polite and helpfull. I was little sick, they even drive around with us to find medicine and they checked 2 3 times if i got better. There was this young guy Babu, he should get the best service person ever award if exists:) And room itself was very clean and comfortable. It is little far from central places but it was not very hard to move around. Breakfast was good. There are so many trucks and there is church near by start some events early in the morning so it is very hard to sleep sometimes but comparing other hotels and entire city it is way better.(maybe it is easier for some people, i normally live in Nordics, where it s very calm and quite) And price is perfect. I paid 130 euros for another place and 17 euros for Fasil, Fasil was 10 times better. (One friend suggested the place after seeing me in the other place) I am definetly going to stay there next time when i go there with no doubt and i belive you should.

I had a very pleasant time at Damu on my recent work related trip to Addis. I was staying in one of their substantially spaced double rooms with a balcony overlooking the city at a very affordable price. The breakfast buffet service with the bar on the first floor was very pleasant, everything was clean and food was consistently replenished. The staff were very polite with services for getting to the airport and back as well as to my meetings in town. I have stayed in a couple of other hotels in Addis before and this is one of favourites for the amount of money and services offered.

The overall feeling is quite satisfactory, but what is worth mentioning is his sauna, which has both wet and dry steam, and the temperature is satisfactory. But the disadvantage is that the price is generally expensive, if it is within 700 yuan is still a good choice. But generally it does not include the early price. Note that they use American standard sockets, so they need to give the front desk 100birr to buy the steering head.

The hotel is pretty close to the airport, approximately 15-20min drive with traffic. It is also in a good location and within walking distance to Edna mall. There is no gym at the hotel but i did find one behind Edna mall that was equipped well and includes a swimming pool. All the staff speak English and are very helpful and accommodating, including the chef. We only used the restaurant for breakfast. There is a continental breakfast available as well as some local delicacies. I simply loved the fresh papaya juice and local cuisine. They also have an omelette bar which I took advantage of. The room is very clean and comfortable (we were given a choice of rooms to view and selected the best fit). As the hotel faces a busy street, it can get noisy from the hustle and bustle of the daily trade. The beds are super comfortable. The rooms come with tea making facilities and a mini fridge. There is also a safe in the closet. The shower was great with good water pressure. The rooms are cleaned everyday and the I found the cleaning staff to be professional and honest. The hotel operates a shuttle service that picked us up from the airport and dropped us off on our last day. Adjacent to the hotel entrance is a bank with an ATM. Street lighting seems to be an issues around this area so at night it can get pretty dark in some of the surrounding streets that lead up to the hotel. However, I never felt unsafe on the streets. Here is a tip for any travelers visiting Addis, download the uber equivalent called RIDE. I found it to be very convenient and works well.

We stayed there 2 nights broken up into two stays throughout our trip in Ethiopia. We were a group of 17 travelers. I think most people in our group were satisfied with the hotel as were we. It was average I think. The rooms we had were clean and comfortable and came equipped with a hair dryer which was a rarity at most other hotels in the country. I had a good wifi signal once I was finally able to connect. The person at the front desk must enter your name into their system in order for you to be able to access the wifi and during our first stay, this took several hours to happen and several requests by me, but once connected, it was fine. In our first room, the shower/bathtub drain was horrible and it really never drained so by the time you were finished with your shower, the water was already very deep and took a very long time to drain. The service wasn't very good on our second stay as our room did not have any tissues or bottled water (which was supposed to be provided) and even after several promises to send them right up to our room by the front desk, these items were never brought to our room. The breakfast buffet was very good and one of the better ones we experienced during our time in the country. We also ate at the restaurant both evenings and the selection was decent and the food was good, although here too, the service was lacking and it took forever to get our food and then to get our bill. The location is within walking distance to a lot of different restaurants. I think it's a fine place to stay for a night or two but I'm sure there are other places that would be better.

The environment is Okay, people are very friendly, but the overall service level and food are only two-star level. Most of the easy chairs in the room were broken, some of the facilities in the room were not maintained, and the swimming pool was full of sand. The meals in the main restaurant are average, and the Chinese restaurant is even more terrible, ordering three dishes and saying no. The only thing that barely meets the standard (4 stars) is the decoration of the lobby ... and the sunrise view of the high-rise east room is also heartily praised (the sunrise time is about 6 am)
