My Wife and I travelled to Stresa by train and this hotel is close to the railway station (possibly the closest) and it a short downhill walk to the lake. Our room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was buffet style and had plenty of choice, although a couple of times top ups were a bit slow coming and had to be requested. One day we wanted to get a train to Milan and have advice on the best way to travel back to the airport. The staff were very helpful at providing all of the necessary information. One night the weather was very wet and thankfully there is a good restaurant just up the road from the hotel. Stresa centre offers many other good restaurants and this is only a 10 minute walk. Also by the lake there is a good travel agent who offer some good day trips from Stresa. I certainly would recommend Hotel Boston, especially if you are travelling by train.

Location: This hotel is on the inland side of the road that runs along the western side of Lake Maggiore. Views of Lake Maggiore from the room balcony are breathtaking, with even better views from the rooftop bar and pool area. The hotel’s front gardens are magnificent. It was a short walk (5 – 7 minutes) into the town of Stresa, with many restaurants and tourist shops. A local Carrefour was useful to by some food and drinks without paying too much. Check-in: I was travelling on a bus tour (Albatross’s Grande Italian Tour), so check-in was done by our tour director. I had reason to ask the reception for a sewing kit and they were very helpful. Room Facilities: I had a huge room that was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. I had a king bed, which was actually two singles connected to make one bed. It was comfortable enough, although similar to most Italian hotel beds, it was marginally firmer than I like. The room was quiet, with a good sized balcony overlooking the gardens and the lake. Everything in the room was functional and well laid out, with a style that seemed partly modern and partly classic. The complimentary Wi-Fi was easy to connect and worked well throughout my stay. The bathroom was large and very modern. There was four (4) choices of water outlet in the shower. There was no bath, but that is what I prefer. Room storage was excellent, with several areas to arrange my things, including a free-standing wardrobe. Breakfast: Breakfast was quite adequate without being amazing. It certainly was enough to get the day off to a good start. Waiting staff were a little disconnected with the customers, one area that could be improved. We ate a meal at the hotel restaurant, however the standard of the food overall was poor. Check-out: Same as check-in, performed by our tour director. Overall: A lovely hotel that I would stay at again.

If you can visualise how the interior of the titanic might have looked, you'll have an idea of the grand scale of the interior of this hotel. It opened in 1909 so that travellers on the Paris-Istanbul Orient Express could break their journey and enjoy a few days of restful luxury at the beautiful resort of Stresa. The huge reception and dining areas are still beautifully maintained and the view from the dining room across the lake at breakfast is just magnificent. We visited as a group with Riviera travel but we still had a very grand room with a balcony, ensuite with bath, bidet.......bathrobe and slippers. Huge comfy bed with soft cotton bed linen changed daily. There are two large pools, one in the park-like gardens and another indoor pool. Sunloungers and piles of yellow towels freely available for use at the pool. Our meals were good and Mauro our head waiter looked after us with professionalism and humour. We had a lovely week here.

This is a great hotel. It is on the main road along the lakeside in Stresa, and is only 2 minutes walk to the ferry terminal. It is right on the edge of the town centre with its shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. We had an excellent room with a lake view. Room 434. It has a "turret" window in the corner giving views in 3 directions. We were half board and had breakfast and dinner in the bright enclosed dining room at the front of the hotel. Breakfast is continental with cereals, fruit, different kinds of cheese, ham and salami, with excellent coffee. Dinner was from the daily menu but it has a wide range offered for each course with a menu of 5 items to choose from for both starter and main course. Dessert is served from the trolley with a wide choice available. The staff in the restaurant are briliant. Very welcoming and friendly. Head waiter Raffa, Natalia and Nicola were the main people who served us, all in a very friendly and efficient manner. The bar is a bit on the small and is no garden to sit in, but you can use the sister hotel Regina Palace gardens, only 150 meters along the road. This was our second visit to Stresa and staying at this hotel. We thouroughly recomment it.

This is actually a c. 1900 villino in Stresa which has had a ‘modern’ part added at the front in the 1950s or 1960s to make it into a hotel. Plenty of parking. It is halfway up the hill just over the railway line. You can go to the Hotel Regina on the waterfront and go up the road beside it (Via Duchessa di Genova). It is cheaper than most Stresa hotels, but for a reason. There is no airconditioning so you need to keep windows open at night, and there can be some street noise. The wifi is poor and does not reach the end rooms, so you have to sit in the staircase or breakfast room to use it. Rooms are quite small and old-fashioned. The breakfasts are OK, with good muesli with dried fruit but no fresh fruit, as well as the usual meats, jams and cheeses. It is run in the traditional Italian hotel way. It has a restaurant that we did not try. The Grano Duro restaurant nearby is very good.

What a great place - after reading so many mixed reviews ... didn’t know what to expect. But our stay was very enjoyable. Staff friendly and always helpful, breakfast generous, room modern. There are small quirks but for the price / location - I don’t know why anyone would complain. We arrived at the Elena Hotel after a short journey from Milan Malpensa, the very convenient and cheap Alibus dropped us at the church door and the Hotel is 5 minutes flat walk from there. The Hotel stands on the corner of the Piazza, it is a fabulous location. It was a quiet time of year being nearly the end of season, but still a few other tourists to watch from our lovely balcony. I understand in high season it can be noisy and there are rooms that overlook the mountains at the back but our room 308 was perfect for us, it is a quadruple room and there were just the 2 of us. The bathroom is small but super clean and good shower with hot water. The beds are firm but that suited us very well. The only power point in which to charge our devices was 3 pin, a type which we did not bring an adapter for, but the hotel owner/manager concocted a number of adapters for us which worked beautifully. Breakfast was a continental buffet affair, it was delicious and so was the cappuccino! The hotel atmosphere is friendly and from what I can see benefits from returning customers, we will certainly be back, we loved it. Thank you.

Had a 7 night stay in this Hotel, we had a front room with a Balcony see the photos. Spacious room with a decnet shower. The room has double glazing so you cannot hear the hustle and bustle outside. With shutters to keep it dark. The Hair drier plug socket was broken which we reported, unfortantely it wasn't easily repairable and the manager owner apologised to us about 5 times!! Within 5 minutes walk you can be nearly anywhere in Stresa, with 5 or 6 restaurants less than 2 minutes away and their own down stairs. We ate once and it was good food but not Pasta and Pizza. Friday they have a market behind the Hotel so if you have a Vehicle it will have to be moved Thursday evening, we recommend the market for a stroll around. The Breakfast was a good selection continental style Croissants, Bread Jam fresh Fruit, yoghurts, Cheese meats with some cereals too. Tea for the English to drink along with Coffee and Fruit juices. If you want views of the Lake Maggiore then this isn't for you, but less than half the price.

Arrived a few days prior to commencing a guided tour. We were allocated a small room at the rear of the hotel, with a very small bathroom and a virtually unusuable shower, it was so small you had almost to walk out to turn around. After one night we upgraded to a lake view room, and the extra $100.00 (Australian) per night was definately worth it. We had a very large room, plenty of storage, a nice bathroom, plus the marvellous lake views as our room faced the lake. The hotel is of the old style construction and realy looks the part. It services tour groups, so expect the dining room to be busy. Breakfast was excellent, although with knives and forks at one end of the buffet, only, you had to remember to get them first, or last, as the buffet was quite long. No real problem after the first morning. Reception staff were friendly, although it seemed some of the restaurant staff wanted you to get out of their way, rather than the other way around. There are nice grounds, with a very lareg, Roman style, swimming pool. The village of Stresa is about ten minutes walk away and you can walk along the lake front to get there. Very attractive. During our six weeks trip, we found this hotel, and Stresa in general, one of our favoutite places. Recommended

The hotel is on the outskirts of Stresa at the Lido where the cable car to Motterone leaves from. It means a beautiful 15 to 20 minute stroll by the lakeside to the centre of Stresa. Perfect for a passegiata before or after dinner. The room was pleasantly spacious and clean with aircon. However, it didn't have a safe or a refrigerator which would have been appreciated. The indoor swimming pool and facilities were great and we enjoyed a dip each afternoon. The breakfast had a good selection ( boiled eggs incurred an extra charge though). The young waiter at breakfast was very attentive and courteous. The Hotel staff were efficient but not overly friendly. We made use of the free parking, although it was quite limited & required double parking, so they held a key so they could move cars around. Overall we had a lovely few days stay and would consider it for a future stay.

We stayed five nights in at the Hotel Italie et Suisse in Stresa and only wish it had been longer. The Hotel is in the most amazing location with a fabulous view of Lake Maggiore and surrounding mountains which we enjoyed from our very pretty balcony overloooking the lake. The staff were so friendly and helpful and really made our stay very enjoyable. The Hotel benefits from being centrally located right opposite the ferry terminal - which we used to visit the beautiful Borroman Islands and Villa Taranto. There are also picturesque lakeside walks nearby and a fabulous selection of Bars and Restaurants. The Alibus from Malpensa Airport dropped us right outside the Hotel. The Hotel is also around 10 minutes walk from the Railway Station and not much further to the beautiful gardens and animal park at Villa Pallavicino.

Again we holidayed in Stresa at the Royal Hotel which is situated approximately 20 minutes from the town centre. As before we received a very warm welcome from all, which made us immediately feel at home. We again got a lovely room on the 3rd floor with side-lake views, and beyond that to the Alps. We got the sun most of the afternoon. As previously, the room and the en-suite were spotless. The meals were up to the usual high standard, and there were very good options o the dinner menu to suit all tastes. As usual, the staff were always very pleasant and helpful. You don't require an information office, as most of the reception staff can answer any query, and can also supply timetables for buses, trains & the ferries. There was a very good choice, with scrambled and boiled eggs, plus bacon on top of the normal continental options. There is a large lounge area where one can sit in very comfortable chairs to have a drink or coffee after dinner, or at any time. Outside on the terrace there is a smoking area. The Royal Hotel is family run and it is so pleasant to see members of the family having meals in the dining-room along with the residents. They are always walking round the hotel and are always willing to speak to the visitors and hear all the comments. There is a large area for car parking with an overflow available across the road. We met friends who were staying at a 4* hotel in the area, and in comparison, the Royal was much superior, and they reckon theirs should have been a 1*. Again we couldn't fault anything, and are looking forward to returning in 2020..

I enjoyed my recent stay in Stresa and found the La Fontana a comfortable spot located within walking distance to everything I wanted to do. The owners are welcoming and easily accommodated my need to leave early in the morning by checking me out the night before. The breakfast room is lovely and the food a delicious variety of treats to give you a good start in the morning. I especially appreciated the espresso bar service. My room was clean and attractive with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains beyond. I was traveling by myself so found it big enough, but I think I would ask for a more spacious room if I came back with my husband. The bathroom especially was tiny. My main concern about my room was that the walls were so thin I could hear every flush from next door. Still, that wasn't enough to spoil a very pleasant stay at La Fontana.

We stayed for a short visit to the gem of a hotel in October. The room was immaculately clean, with a lovely little terrace. We booked a package that included a three course dinner with wine in the restaurant and breakfast. The dinner was a memorable experience with our host, a charming long term employee, made sure we were well cared for. The food was great and the wine he chose for us was complimentary to each course. It was a special experience and I wish I could remember the gentlemen’s name. The island itself is tiny charming and tranquil especially at night. There was a problem with the water temperature in the shower. The staff and owner was caring attentive and switched our room to an upgraded room for the night. The new room did not have an issue with the shower temperature. We loved the fact that by the ferry dock there were stray cats being fed and cared for. They were given beds and blankets and food. They were basking in the sun and friendly and unafraid, very different than most stray cats because they were well cared for. It was nice to see! We would highly recommend the hotel and the area is great stresa and the islands are beautiful. Breakfast was really great and varied too.

Breakfast basic and you're only allowed one free hot drink, but it was more than adequate. Friendly service and a quick check in as we arrived late evening was welcome. The location was central to all the restaurants and shops but as most places around seemed to close by 10.30pm it was quiet in an evening. You do hear the shutters and the bit men in the morning though! It was nothing special but I'd stay here again, as they were obliging with kindly giving us a large room.

Hotel Flora is a very clean, well ran hotel. We took the half board option and enjoyed the food very much. The evening meal consists of 4 courses plus soup should you want it and are served at the table we also ate at the outside dining area on some evenings. They also have a good wine list which are very fairly priced. Our room was a good size and had the unexpected bonus of a fridge. The bed was very comfortable and towels changed daily, including your pool towel. The air conditioning was very efficient and much needed. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room, the hairdryer in the bathroom is also quite low powered so if this is important to you, take your own. Try to get a room facing the lake, rooms on the roadside will get some road noise, its not excessive but you can hear the occasional heavy vehicle and mopeds. The pool was nice, its not particularly big but we always got sunbeds with no issue. Ferry station Carciano is a 5 minute walk though most (possibly all?) the ferries from there go via Isola Bella though we didnt find this an issue as the ferries run frequently. The Cable Car station is also sited next to the Ferry terminal and well worth a visit, go right to the top via the ski lift, its wonderful. Its around a 15-20 minute walk to Stresa's main square and its a lovely walk along the lakeside, there is a shorter route direct down to the main front though it is a busy road and the lakeside views are beautiful, its worth taking the lakeside route. There are no supermarkets near the hotel, you will need to walk into Stresa if you want to stock up with drinks and water though there is a taxi rank in the centre of Stresa so you could taxi back. Hotel Flora is a good cheaper alternative to the large hotels on the main promenade of Stresa, we found it excellent value. Special mention to Rosanna the waitress, a lovely lady and a credit to Hotel Flora.
