|1.52km from city centerI shall start from arrival at the hotel. We were a family of four who had booked two rooms at the property. We arrived around 14:30 Hrs (at least 30 mins after the designated check-in time). First of all, although the check-in desk at the hotel is quite huge, there were only 3 staff members ***ning the desk, all of them occupied. We had to wait for around 15 mins, looking here and there like *****s with our bags on before someone greeted us. And I do not mind waiting for check-in; what I do mind is that despite multiple staff members seeing us wait, not one of them acknowledge our presence and asked us to take a seat and wait. They would all look at us and carry on. Forget a warm smile, forget a namaste, we were made to feel like fools just standing there without anyone attending to us. When we finally did get a chance to check in, we were given two adjacent rooms. The key to one room was handed over to us, and we were told that the second room is not ready yet and that as soon as it is ready the key would be sent to us in our room. We said okay and moved towards our room. Once in our room, all four of us sat waiting in one room for around 45 mins for the key to the second room. We were not able to unpack because we wanted to unpack in our respective rooms. Tired and hungry, we left the hotel to get ourselves some lunch and some sightseeing, hoping that by the time we return our second room would be ready. When we returned and asked for the key to the second room from the reception desk, we were told that the room that was allocated to us had been now given to someone else -- and we were given some other room that was ”close” to the first room. I understand that asking for adjacent rooms is a mere request and not a right. But had we been given a ”close” room earlier, we could have gotten the keys earlier at the time of check-in! We waited for a room for so long, only for it to be given to someone else.
Fast forward to the next morning's breakfast. The spread was quite good and quite diverse in variety. However, again the entire staff at the breakfast looked tense for some reason. And they kept messing up with live counter orders. No one had a smile on, no one welcomed you with warmth, and no one made you feel as if you were staying in a 5-star hotel (which The Lalit considers itself to be).
Our entire experience with The Lalit was below par at the very least. It was not the kind of experience you would expect from a branded property that so conveniently calls itself a luxury 5-star property. I honestly feel for the money that I paid, I could and should have gotten a different property and that would have been definitely better. For the foreseeable future, and till things change, I do not see myself staying at any Lalit property.

The rooms are slightly on the smaller size, but is adequate for a single person, or a double occupancy who are looking at affordable options. The restaurant is on the ground floor, and the service is quick. The only missing attribute was, there was no water bottle inside the rooms, and there were extra charges for water bottles. Even though it is a matter of 20 rupees, it would be better if water bottles are present inside the rooms when we enter the room itself, instead of requiring to order water bottles through phone.

|9.96km from city centerWe had booked 35 rooms in the month of September'23 for our marriage party in 18th-20th January'24 for 3 days. Just 1 week prior to our check-in we get a call from the hotel that there is sewage problem in all the rooms above 2nd floor due to which they had to shut down all the floors and they cannot honor our booking and have to shift us to another mediocre property about 1 km away. Due to peak marriage rush we were helpless as it was last moment and had to agree. They provided us with 10 rooms at Regenta Inn Larica and 25 rooms at NPG Hotel Kolkata. We were shocked to see that another marriage party was checked in on the same day at the hotel. The hotel did not honor any of the commitments that were agreed upon. Our marriage party was divided and all our functions were spoiled. The banquet hall on the 1st floor was not provided, instead a smaller banquet was provided on the 7th floor with no amenities. Our caterer was threatened to vacate the kitchen on the same day for the other party's caterer. All the staff misbehaved with my father-in-law and all the elders making it the worst experience. We were humiliated infront of everyone whom we had invited for the wedding. This hotel and it's management are fraudsters. These greedy people destroyed our whole marriage experience. Please do not book in advance with this property, these people have no ethics, they can go down to any level to satisfy their greed.

Kindly provide whiper for washroom cleaning once bathing it will be very wet so that we can clear those water on the time but can't contact everytime for room service for cleaning. 2. Air/Room freshener must be available always so that we can feel fragrance while any guest or couples enter into room but for this also can't contact for housekeeping everytime we need to feel good . 3. This is my 3rd time visit in this hotel and I really liked food both times when I was here but this January 2024 it was not as good as last time. Quality wise as well as quantity wise there is some difference since the last visit. 4. Washroom door was not good not able to close completely. Needs to be done before allocating rooms so that there is no need to contact receptionist for these repairs. Once I got in already hotel team has contacted me for repair works but time was not matching as I mostly stay out.

We got room on 1st floor, at opening window, there is public toilet for your view. 2. There is no tea and food facility at guest house, but you can find good tea just 100 meters away from guest house. 3. The best thing is its location, new market and esplanadae is just 500 meters away. 4. Easy to get taxi and bus to explore the city.

From day 1 we started to have discussion with Sujoy, We were confident that the Team Orkao's was able to understand what we wanted and also they transcended beyond it. What really made the difference was the value for money offerings. Whenever any discussion was going on, the options was on the table with the pros and cons and also what better could be done. When the final D day came, then I am really glad when the stepped into the hall. The event ***ager Subhankar was right upto the mark and he never made be feel that some thing might go wrong. Seeing the arrangement the preparation, my confidence grew up and really as the time passed we were more than happy. Even the guests who attended really appreciated at the food quality, the ambience and the staff behaviour. So I would personally recommend that if any one wants to go for any party the only place is Regenta Orko's Kolkata.
