My husband and I visited this weekend for our anniversary. We booked this hotel through secret escapes as it was central, had a 4 star rating and having not been to Liverpool before, we thought it the best location to properly explore the city centre. As soon as we started to walk down Seel street, I knew we'd made a mistake. At around 2pm it was already full of drunk students and we could hear music pounding. Unfortunately it did not get any better when approaching the hotel. When we walked into reception to check in, the music was so loud I could not hear what the receptionist was saying. I made a comment about the music being loud but the receptionist just laughed it off - i assume this is something they hear daily. We went to our room which was actually really nice, a bit basic, but more than ok for one night. Unfortunately the hotel was having problems with the room keycards so we could not get into the room ourselves, but there was always someone on reception to take us up to our room and let us in. After exploring the city centre and having a fab meal at Bem Brasil, we came back to our room around 10pm. If we thought the music was loud before, it was nothing compared to the volume now all the other bars and nightclubs opposite the hotel were open, as well as the bar below the rooms. Don't get me wrong, I like a good night out as well as the next person, i'm not boring by any means, however it felt like we were staying in a nightclub and when you're on a romantic weekend away this is not what you want. Despite the windows being closed (in the hottest room I've ever experienced!) and my husband and I both wearing earplugs, we could not sleep due to the music, which did not stop until 5am! And just when I thought I could get a few hours in before checking out, the bin lorries arrived so for the next couple of hours all we heard was glass bottles being transferred to the bin lorries. In the end we decided to just get up and head for breakfast. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice (cooked full English and continental) however for some reason the hotel thought it appropriate to have dance music playing, albeit quieter than the night before but still, at breakfast?? In the end we checked out around 9am instead of 12 noon - now I know why there is such a late checkout time! When asked about our stay I told them it was the loudest hotel I had ever stayed in and the receptionist just shrugged her shoulders and said 'its a city centre'. Erm no, city centre or not, the volume was completely out of control. I've stayed in plenty of city centre hotels and never experienced this kind of noise level. Don't get me wrong, this hotel is perfect for stag and hen parties who stroll in when the nightclubs and bars close, but for a couple celebrating their wedding anniversary (at a hotel booked on secret escapes of all places!) this is not the place. The hotel really do need to make guests aware of the level of noise, it isn't just mildly irritant, it is

Room was very spacious and clean. Decor was up to date and modern, the hotel itself is located right beside Liverpool one shopping, it’s on the doorstep of all the main restaurants and is a stone throw away from concert square and seel street. The breakfast was just what we needed before we left. Had a brilliant experience here and will definitely be back soon.

The soundproofing of the hotel is poor, you can hear the sound of water from next door or upstairs. The room is too small, only 12 square meters, and the bathroom is very small. It is a reluctant person to move in. Although the room is in the basement, there is no peculiar smell and musty smell. The first floor of the hotel is public The area provides paid breakfast, 5 pounds per serving, and free coffee and hot water. Sit on the sofa in the public area for a while, rub some WiFi, look at the pedestrians on the street through the kitchen window, and feel very comfortable.

Okay, I'd read the previous reviews and was a little concerned about our booking and it was too late to cancel, so we just went with it. There were 5 of us in our party and we booked a triple room and a double room. We first went into the bar and immediately welcomed by the locals and bar staff, all very friendly. We then checked in a few doors down, lots of stairs but that didn't bother us. Easy check in and all secure with key cars access. We had rooms 28 and 29 and they were perfect. Good sized rooms, very modern decor with en suite shower rooms. Clean and tidy, tea coffee biscuits, views over the adelphi and city. No complaints whatsoever from us. Just a little nod to management, maybe a mirror and waste bin for the rooms possibly needed. All in all, it was a great stay, excellent location and good value for money. We would definitely stay again. We also used the multi storey car park opposite and left it in there overnight and it cost less than £10.

Having stayed in Liverpool a couple of times before, once at a hotel at the bottom of Mount Pleasant (never again) and once at a hotel further up Mount Pleasant that has now changed its name to Liverpool Inn, which was lovely back then, I thought I was booking the latter. I had a bit of a panic when I realised my mistake and gave them a call to explain that I was travelling with a child who has sensory issues and struggles with noise. I was told that it wasn’t a problem and they’d put us in the quietest room. The hotel is a short walk from the station and easy to find. We stayed in room 15 and it was massive with 2 single beds and a double, en suite bathroom with a large shower, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. The room was spotless and definitely quiet. The staff were lovely, very friendly and chatty and happy to share their knowledge of the city. If we needed anything replenishing in the room we only had to ask at reception. After walking past the other hotel with the same name I’m so glad we didn’t stay there, the best mistake I’ve ever made was accidentally booking into the wrong hotel. Next time we need to travel to Liverpool we’ll definitely be staying there again

If you want to conquer Downtown Liverpool by foot this Hotel is your perfect base camp. Located on Mount Pleasant the is a sight to reach whithin walking distance in all directions. The rooms are kept simple, but have everything you need. The staff is friendly and helpful, and although most of the guests are young travellers it is a quiet place, so you can have a good nights rest after your days on the streets of Liverpool. You should definitely start your day with a breakfast in the very uniquely furnished Restaurant/Bar. You'll be greeted by the most lovely Denise, who will fulfill your every wish. And while enjoying your coffee and planning your day you should ask her about the poins of interest wihtin the city. She may also provide some interesting facts about the histoy of the building you are staying at... you'll be surprised.

Booked The Podworks to attend a conference. Booked 3 nights Sunday to Wednesday. I chose it due to price as I was not paying myself and wanted to keep costs low. After then reading some of the reviews I was slightly anxious about what my stay would be like but couldn't have been better. Yes the rooms are small and windowless but they're upfront about that. The size of the rooms would make it difficult for couples staying but for a single occupant it's fine. Staff were super friendly, nothing was too much trouble. 3rd night air con was making a funny noise maintenance arrived and replaced motor within half an hour. Bed was super comfy and room spotless. WiFi was a bit patchy but otherwise OK. Slept like a log. Would definitely stay again. I paid £123 for 3 nights and it was great value for money. Maybe some reviewers are expecting too much for a city centre budget hotel.

The Noisiest Stay I've had ever!, we were warned by staff to be fair, our room was no6 on the side of the hotel, and the racket outside was going right up till 5am, they do give you ear plugs but they are useless, anyway onto the hotel, our key card didn't work properly nor did other peoples but the lady and gent on the desk make out it's your fault and there isn't a problem and were quite curt and sharp with you, very unprofessional as they are clearly faulty! Decided to have a drink before going to bed in the bar, the music was deafening, no chance to have a chat! And it was awful too, all those compilation songs that everyone hated back in the 80's, really outdated, bar prices were very reasonable, compared to the rest of Lpool town centre where they are a complete rip off, our room was quite small, clean enough but carpets are tired and in need of replacement, bathroom ok bed comfortable enough, breakfast the next morning was good, bacon was lovely, mention for the lady who served us she was very nice and pleasant, considering the £110 cost I was disappointed and would look elsewhere in the future

we came back from an event approx midnight. asked for 2 glasses of red wine at the bar. staff member offered us a number of bottles . we picked one, she opened it. then the duty manager turned up and said that this wine wasn’t available by the glass only by the bottle. ( which was £55) we explained that we were offered this option by the bar staff but he still said no. bar staff then had to put the cork back in the bottle. we asked how they could do that when it could only bought by the bottle and no customer would buy a bottle of wine that had already been opened. no change. out of courtesy to the bar staff we agreed to pick another red wine. turns out they only had one glass left of that one and no spares . therefore we ended up with our 3rd choice option. this all took 45mns from order to serve. some of the worst hotel service we have ever had.

The location is very good, just beside the pier, walking to the tate museum, the Liverpool Museum and the pier, the view from the window is also very attractive. You can watch the day and night at the pier. The hotel has some connection with the Titanic. The door of each room is a sense of cabin.

We picked this hotel primarily for its location as it's in the city centre and very close to my daughters university accommodation. Our room was clean and tidy and had everything except a fridge and any staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet so we had a few good nights sleep. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food but the location is in the heart of the city and there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby. I also liked that there was a little desk beside the reception with extra milk, teabags etc so you could grab some extra if you needed them throughout the day.

My husband and I stayed at 42 Castle Street in September 2022 and liked it so much that we booked with Castle Collection again. This time (May 2023 ) we stayed in 25 Castle Street (flat 12) and it was so grotty that we had to go out and buy cleaning products from Tesco’s (they only supply dishwashing liquid). It was actually an adventure of discovery. There was dried up vomit on the lounge suite, (nice and crunchy) the bed head and wall to the left of it had some liquid drip stuff on it ( came off with disinfectant wipes), the walls were filthy, (more liquid drips, so I can only assume that a lot of drinking/ puking must have taken place. The skirting boards had stains and black grime, ( sadly, they defeated me and my myriad of cleaning products) the cushions had liquid/vomit stains and the carpet was so gross I didn’t want to imagine what had gone on in the past. As for the view… well, the windows had bird crap all over them from the derelict building next door, which has more than its share of pigeons and their nests. If you leave any window open to let fresh air in, (it’s stuffy) the pigeons try to get in. They do tend to be somewhat noisy, but ear plugs fixed that. You get the odd seagull crapping, too, but I guess they decided that there’s no need to try and clean the windows, as there’s nothing to see anyway. I realise that that the building and birds are not Castle Collection’s fault, but they’re advertising ‘luxury apartments‘ and to be honest, this apartment made me feel uncomfortable and because it was so grotty, I avoided it as much as possible, and I was there for eight nights! Anyway, I managed to clean the vomit off the lounge and the drips off the bed head and wall, but the living room wall and skirting boards defeated me as they were too ingrained. Okay, it was straight after Eurovision, but really? I am a frequent visitor to Liverpool, as am originally from Liverpool and live in Australia, and I thought the Castle Collection was a great place - umm, no. So disheartening. Anyway, the positives - great location and communication regarding access etc was really efficient and friendly. Really easy access. Number 42 Castle St has a lift, but number 25 doesn’t. Car park nearby with discount rates.

I booked this hotel for a little break for me & my husband (we are both middle aged). I picked it for location & price. They were both spot on, but I didn't check that it was right in the heart of club land, so we didn't get any sleep from the noise from bars, clubs & party goers. So great for the money, if you want to be out there partying, but not so good when you're older. Upon check out, I mentioned the noise to the receptionist, who told me that I should have requested a quieter room, which I would have done, had I have know that they had them! So upon reflection a) the hotel needs to point out that there are quiet rooms available & b) I'll definately be doing a thorough research on any future city break hotels.

I went to Liverpool specifically to watch a Liverpool game. If there is a chance next time, I will still choose this hotel. The attitude is very good and very enthusiastic! And it's very close to Liverpool Lime Station, take a train from London to Liverpool, you can see the hotel as soon as you get out of the train station, and it's only a 2-minute walk to arrive! And it's right in the city center, basically everything you need can be met on foot. If you want to go to Anfield, you can get there by taking No. 17 at the bus stop coming out of the hotel. If you travel to Liverpool, it is recommended that you live here.

We came in late every night and the bar staff were so friendly and welcoming - making sure that we were able to have last orders and giving us extra time to finish without hurrying us out- for which we were very grateful ! Rooms smell damp and musty like a lift, no fresh air just stale. Noticed that the air conditioning has no return air grill only a supply grill where a minimal amount of air blows out from which smells stale and musty like a loft does. Air con noisy because it's not able to pull any air from the room. Dust on top of ledges. To top things off booked a room with breakfast but was told my booking didn't have breakfast and then I was over charged. Quite a few complaining about lights not working. If you are heading to Anfield Stadium for a match, this hotel should be one of your best choices. At the very beginning, I thought it was a bit far away from the city centre, however, in fact there are quite a number of bus service to the city centre with just around 15 mins. Ok, by Google map, 30 mins on foot to Anfield. A bit far away? Trust me, you will end up spending an hour to queue for a bus. 30 mins walking back to the hotel definitely is the best choice. Just next to a supermarket where you can buy bottle water, next to Mcdonald as well. Walking back to the hotel and enjoy a British Pub food is also a nice choice. Staffs are friendly, and provide useful tips. Helped me to print out my broading pass. To conclude, my 3 nights stay was worthy!

My husband and I contacted them to book a surprise to take our son to visit the Liverpool Stadium Tour, so the theme of the hotel was amazing for him, we watched the away Liverpool match with a few other supporters the night prior to the visit. The bar staff were so helpful and friendly. They didn't serve food, but it was no issue to have food delivered and ate in the bar during the game. From the initial contact they were fully booked, but Gill contacted me as soon as they received a cancellation and helped us every step of the way with the booking, they even offered to book the tour. The room was spacious and immaculate, the beds very comfortable - what else could you ask for? The following morning we went to the tour and we were allowed to leave the car at the hotel, so that saved us the hassle of moving and parking elsewhere. Its literally just down the road from the stadium - you can walk out the drive and you can see it! Perfect for anyone visiting or going to the game. Gill was amazing - she knew the reason for our visit and seemed to go out of her way to make it a special event - it really has help make it a memory my son wont forget - so thank you!

It has potential, as a hostel, but as I paid for an ”individual apartment” I didn't like it. I received, about 15 days before I left, that the YHA, which I had booked, had changed ownership, but that NOTHING WOULD CHANGE IN THE RESERVATION. I arrived at 3:00 PM, coming from a long trip from Edinburgh, with a stop and a walk in Newcastle, with the plan of arriving at the ”hotel”, taking a shower and going out to explore the city. To my surprise, check-in was only at 4:00 PM. In other words, what was stipulated when I made my reservation had already changed (YHA)... And I had to wait in a kind of reception/snack bar on site. When I mentioned it to a boy at reception, he even ironically replied, ”only at 4, sorry”! I also had a setback because I was unable to print proof of payment on the card, which I later received by email. Anyway, the apartment is even good for a hostel/hotel (I stayed alone). However, the night is a hell of a noise. And make no mistake, the music that plays on the ”iconic Beatles street”, and that can be heard from the room, is of the worst quality, in addition to the shouting ”typical of bar areas” in a medium/large city. Finally, and without me knowing, the reception/snack bar closes from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and you have to enter through a strange door at the back of the establishment. And, if that wasn't enough, when I left, at around 6:30 AM, the ”hall in front of that door” was a legitimate urinal. Anyway, when I saw that it had changed ownership, and received notification from Booking, I ended up not changing hotels. But I should have done that, as it really felt more like a ”casual bar” that hosts on the upper floors, than a hotel; I knew it was also a hostel, but as I paid ”the price of a hotel for an individual apartment”, I would have preferred to have stayed somewhere more professional and even courteous... Very disappointed with room on 11th floor. Sink was blocked. Shower tray was filthy. Hotel could not fix the sink that night so I was given a bottle of bleach to take away the smell. It was fixed the next day. The hotel is a bit outdated. Could do with a makeover. There was only 2 lifts for for the hotel and a couple of days there was only one working. There was a lot of elderly people in the hotel so bring in a high floor was a disaster for them. The food was adequate but the staff were so quick to remove your plates as soon as they thought you were finished. The lights in restaurant were put out at 9pm so hard luck if you were not finished. A couple we met were refused a new toilet roll. Had to go out and buy their own. Disgraceful.

A very cool hotel. A great location on Old Hall Street. Beautiful décor in the public areas and in the rooms. Very modern and spacious room with a great view. The staff were great and the Sky Bar restaurant was great also. Parking in the NCP is £17 for 24 hours and unfortunately there was no discount offered, so my only feedback would be to get a better rate in for guests, and maybe provide some guidance (as the car park is a bit of maze) and then they would have all angles covered.

Place was exactly as advertised. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth staying if your trip is short. As for downsides, hostel has limited number of bathrooms and showers - this can cause issues if you have to leave quickly. The ventilation in rooms is basically non-existent, and rooms house up to 10 people, so I’ll leave the air quality to your imagination. Sound isolation is not great, so if somebody has a good time in the kitchen you’ll going to hear that. Bring earplugs if you are light sleeper. Cleanliness is subjective, I’m not that picky, but having crumbs in my bed was disconcerting. Some sinks have filters with hair in them. Haven’t seen anything that would be actually harmful like mold or hygiene products, so that is good. Location is good. Liverpool is not that big and you’ll get to city centre in under an hour even with most leisurely pace. Do visit the cathedral on your way there. I haven’t seen any shops in immediate vicinity though, but I didn’t need them, so maybe you find some if you look. Bus stop for airport is fairly close, so that is a plus as well. Overall, this is a hostel. You can sleep there, store your stuff and maybe have a chat with interesting people. Price is fair for experience.

Good location, easy to find and free parking. Lovely staff. Nice and clean hotel and room. The size on the room was good, but the bathroom was terrible. The bathroom was like a big plastic box which was put in the room. When I used the shower, the whole room became wet. You could nok take showerhead down, it was mounted in the ceiling. The toilet ring did not stay up itself. There was no pegs for towels. The room does not have a fridge or minibar. I would not recommend to stay here longer than one night.

Obviously we read the good & bad reviews. In my opinion this is a modern hotel with good sized rooms, friendly helpful staff and a nice (small) pool with a sauna & gym. 30% discount on the secure parking at the Q parking opposite was good too. Location in the city centre just on the edge of the L1 shopping eating and drinking area is good too. We were on the 6th floor which was lovely and quiet. There are a few oddities like the separate loo & shower/wash hand basin room facility (didn’t bother us), slightly disobedient lifts and a few minor broken items/scratches etc. Nothing worth moaning about for us. We caught a lucky deal at £65 for the night so value was really good.

We had a quick and professional checkin but we decided to pay a little extra to have a room with a view of the old docks. The room and especially the bed were very comfortable. One reason why we chose this hotel was because of the free and secure parking. It’s also close to Albert Dock. Food and drink were available at the hotel but we chose to eat at a restaurant across the road. All in all a very pleasant stay and I’d definitely recommend this hotel

We booked a two night stay in a Liverpool city centre hotel but we’re transferred to this sister hotel because of problems with the original hotel. The staff at Sefton Park could not have been more helpful and welcoming. We had a complimentary drink on arrival, they added breakfast and paid for a couple of taxi trips into town for the inconvenience. The hotel is in a lovely setting in Sefton Park and is clean and nicely decorated. We have no hesitation in recommending a stay here.

Brilliant location, right in the centre. The staff were brill - checked in early and left luggage- when we returned the room wasn’t ready so ordered a wine which came at the same time as our room became available so the staff took it to our room and bags for us. Had a junior suite which was perfect for a family . Complimentary drinks went down a treat pre evening meal. Were booked into the Resident in Covent Garden later this week so hopefully they will be as amazing as the team in Liverpool

We stayed here for 4 nights. Staff were helpful. We wanted something quite central. This apartment ended up being right beside a residential area. It’s quite far from shops etc but it’s manageable for a short stay. Reception isn’t always open so keep that in mind. A little bit stringent when it comes to cutlery, plates etc. They provided a small pot, large pan and chopping board etc. we had to ask reception for a Knife and they are not in the apartment for “safety reasons”. We also asked for extra pillows as we only had one each. The room was very warm each night. Duvet was heavy so wasn’t really used. Only real complaint would be the temperature of the apartment and difficulty drying clothes, for our short trip we found it to be a perfect little place for rest and comfort although for a longer stay you might possibly need to visit a laundromat to dry your washing as there is only a clothes rack to air out your clothing and heated towel rack to actually dry your clothing on, staff are extremely helpful and give great insight on good places to visit/get pictures of!
