Things are different right now in the time of coronavirus with many places closed and few tourists. Still, there is a limit to my forgiveness for oversights and incorrect information. Firstly, there had been some communication about my arrival time which was accurately estimated and within the acceptable time for check in provided by the Guesthouse. However, when I arrived outside the building after 2 flights, the train from the airport and a 10 minute walk from the station with my 18kg suitcase (fortunately downhill!) the Guesthouse was locked up tight with no obvious way of gaining entry. Fortunately a sympathetic passerby suggested that there must be a bell somewhere and between us we eventually found it. A sign on the door would have been helpful and not difficult to arrange. It was very noisy in the street with the tunnel just meters away and took several attempts to understand the instructions from the person answering the bell but eventually I got it and she opened the door remotely. An envelope was waiting just inside the door with the key card and instructions. Apartment 7, 4th floor, no lift. Ahhhhhhh. It took me a very long time to drag the 18kg suitcase up the 4 big flights of stairs, in fact I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to do it but needs must. Once there I found that the apartment was better than anticipated. It had been very reasonably priced so I didn't have high hopes but it was close to perfect (except for those darned stairs and a bathroom the size of a mouse's house). Double door size windows on 2 sides and a balcony running right around, queen size bed, a couple of armchairs, good wifi and heating and a compact but functional kitchen area. It could have done with a few more kitchen utensils. It is difficult to whip up much with just one saucepan but that is a small grumble. There was also no TV which seems odd but I don't own one at home either so for me it wasn't an issue. Neither was the street noise that others have complained about because I live in NY with street noise as my usual background static. The bathroom was very, very small with a shower enclosure that required contortions to reach all parts of the body without crashing out through the door and the toilet was behind the outer door and couldn't be reached with the latter open. Small complaints when there was a good shower with ample hot water. On my second day the Portuguese government announced an emergency confinement order banning all travel between municipalities over a 4 day long weekend which stopped all trains and buses meaning that I was stranded in Porto for 2 additional nights beyond what was planned. The Guesthouse readily extended my stay for the same very good rate as the original booking. They were virtually empty but I was none the less grateful for their flexibility. Overall My Ribeira Guesthouse has good facilities (except for those darned stairs) and is very well positioned just a block from the river front and very close

Fantastic spot a stones throw from the Bairro da Ribeira. The apartments are linked with the hotel Arc Carris and have all the facilities that go with it but you can self cater. We stayed in a one bedded apartment with a view of the Ponte Luis 1 bridge. The apartment was on 2 levels with a lovely bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher. The main room had the bed and seating area. Loved staying here, the staff were very friendly. If you like food and Port make sure you book a meal at the Taylors restaurant, beautiful food with a fantastic view. We visited the market place on the opposite side of the river near the Ferris wheel where you can eat and drink from different stalls. Around the corner we found the Postigo Do Carvao restaurant where the food was good and a very reasonable price. There is also a small convenience store next to the apartments that sell hot food.

My friends and I are very satisfied with this hotel. We have been in Europe for more than two months, and we have a crush on this hotel at first sight. First of all, as shown in Figures 1 to 3, the hotel design is very elegant, and there are many rest areas on the first floor, each of which is different but in line with the overall style. Secondly, the details are well done everywhere, the reception and service staff are well trained, I am the detail control, their work clothes are neat and decent, the toilets in the lobby are very clean, and the lobby is equipped with drinking water, but not just a pot of water But tomorrow will have different flavors, such as lemon and cinnamon on the first day, two pots on the second day, a pot of pure lemon, another pot of oranges and star anise, are very delicious, thirst quenching and moist, and there is Will patiently tell the facilities and the precautions of the room, very in place. The third thing to praise is the rooms, as shown in Figures 4 to 6. The design is reasonable, spacious, and the hardware is very good. It continues to be careful. The function distribution and utensils in the room are very comfortable. I especially like the cups and The kettle is very, very clean. The fourth is the location of this hotel is not! often! it is good! !! There is a bus directly to Campanha train station when you go out, and another 500 is not far away (to the seaside lighthouse, 500 will go straight along the waterfront, very beautiful, less than 20 minutes to the lighthouse at the estuary). In addition, it is very close to the points in various urban areas, all within 15 minutes (the farthest Liberty Square is only 12 minutes, and there are a bunch of points next to it), 2 minutes walk is the riverside, and the famous Charles I Bridge, Opposite the river are several famous wine cellars (Sandman, Taylor, etc.), which are very very convenient. In addition, there are a lot of food around. I particularly recommend a restaurant for breakfast not far away, as shown in Figure 7. There is also a Portuguese restaurant called jimao next to it. It ’s delicious (the boss is particularly good. Her tea is tea) You can choose and wrap it immediately to make a tea bag, so good tea is not a normal tea bag. I recommend appetizers such as avocado shrimp and green mouth, cuttlefish noodles, filet of pork chop rice). In summary, this hotel gives 200 points! This configuration of this geographical location is worth double the current price!

First of all, if your thinking of visiting Porto you MUST stay here. Should have written this review months ago but only just getting around to it... Myself and my partner have stayed in beautiful hotels all over the world, we both agree this is our favourite! From the moment you walk in the decor flows through the hotel with so much thought put into every detail, it really is just beautiful and so elegant but in an interesting way with exotic palms, gold finishes & incredible architecture throughout. Not to mention the team, they are hands down the best hotel team we have ever met. From start to finish they took care of us, giving knowledge on the city, booking us dinner each night at different restaurants and booking tours. The manager Goncarlo I believe his name was, from start to finish made sure our experience was perfect, checking how breakfast was each morning (incredible by the way, high quality food made fresh to order each morning) even down to using Nespresso coffee, we didn’t want breakfast to end... The rest of the team where also amazing, Mariana I think was the Ass Manager / Front of house was also brilliant. The rest of the team, unfortunately I don’t remember all the names where just fantastic and should all be rewarded for all the hard work & the experience they create. The hotel is in perfect location and not too far from the airport. In short, you must stay here, it’s an experience in its self regardless of visiting Porto 💜 Thank you Torel - we will be back, Sophie & Anton

The Arco Apartments (we stayed in the Sao Sebastian unit) was our favorite lodging on our trip to Spain and Portugal. The location is fantastic...if you can do steps, since the street it is on is all steps. A car can access the top of the stairs. The units are located right behind the Cathedral, and just a very short walk to the top of the Luis I bridge, and the downtown and Ribiera. Around the corner is a small restaurant. The stepped street is notable in itself, and walking tours will bring people this very street. The view from the unit was great! You can see the bridge and the buildings across the river. Check-in and out was easy as Elizabeth met us for both. She provided information and maps on the town and showed us around the apartment. The apartment consists of a living room / kitchen / dining space with a fold-out bed, up a few stairs to the very ample bathroom / shower, and a bedroom with a double bed. The kitchen was fully stock with dishes, pots, etc., so we had some meals here, dropping our meal cost overall. We really loved this space!

Excellent location and reasonably easy to find. Took the metro from the airport and return approx 10 euros for me and my wife, good service. Great communication between agent Alexandra and ourselves. We arrived late but everything was in place for us to access the apartment. Meet Alexandra the following morning bang on time and extremely informative. Spent some 20 minutes with her and she pointed out areas of interest, restaurants and bars, whilst also suggesting local foods to eat. The apartment itself was well appointed , comfortable and cosy. On leaving a different agent attended and we were able to store our carry on suitcases at their other property a couple of minutes away. I did point out a couple of very minor issues with the apartment and was informed they would be addressed ASAP. Overall great city break.

When researching budget friendly hotels it's always a risk. Everyone wants a cheap price bit a five star hotel. Barista guest House comes close to fulfilling that expectation. Although the room and bathroom are small, the bed is comfortable and shelving is in place to accommodate cosmetics and suitcases. The room has a modern feel with the IKEA furnishings and automatic blinds, which by the way, helped us sleep in until we almost missed breakfast. I love having the provided breakfast instead of wasting time finding a cafe and waiting for service. Toast, rolls, sweet cakes, fruit, cereal, yogurt, tomatoes, juice, coffee and tea, and fresh cheese and meat slices are offered. There isn't an ice machine and we never requested anything from the little "bar" menu. There's a terrace if you want to relax somewhere other than your room. The front desk service was commendable and it's close to both bus and Metra. All in all, we would stay again. We liked the location and the quiet. Suggestions for improvement would be a mirror outside the bathroom, a fan in the bathroom, and a little attention the corners of the bathroom ceiling.

The locations is great, few minutes from Trindade Metro Station that connects you to the airport, and also in few minutes you head down to the city centre. The staff is super friendly amd helpful. The rooms are cleaned and they have everything you need for a perfect stay. Rooms and area is quiet. I will definitely come back again there :) Alojamiento totalmente recomendable. Gracias :)

The hotel is in a small street and it took a taxi driver a while to find (it is just around the corner from Steak n Shake btw). Easy walking distance to many top Porto attractions and surrounded with cafes, bakeries, pubs and stores. They serve a glass of champagne upon arrival (nice touch!) and the first night I received a complimentary piece of chocolate cake in the room. Rooftop bar is great for sunsets with a glass of port in your hand. Breakfast is very good although maybe not necessary with so many bakeries in the area where you can get Pastéis de Nata, fresh orange juice and a cup of espresso for 3.50). Service outstanding. Rooms on the small side, but clean and gown and slippers provided. The only thing I would recommend to change is at the reception, there is a bowl of fruit and they have green (plastic looking apples), so I wonder why in Portugal they don't provide fresh organic produce from the local farmers. If Portugal has anything in abundance, it's phenomenal fruits. Highly recommend this hotel and I would go back for sure.

I liked the most among European hotels I went to this time on my honeymoon. It's a small but lovely and very pretty hotel. When I was curious, it was said that it was built in 1829, but it is in excellent condition. It was rather antique and very good. When you open the window, the view is so pretty as if it were in a fairy tale. In the plaza in front, they perform performances, and they are gathered right in front of the bar restaurant, so the location is the best. If I go back to Porto, I will definitely stay at this hotel!! (Breakfast is tidy, but there are too few eggplants.)

The property is very conveniently located, near palacio da Bolsa, so close to lower and upper city. The host made a warm welcome and explained everything. As it was possible and we were travelling with a kid and the bed was small, we also got a free upgrade from Standard room to huge apartment with huge bed. The building has been restored, upper floors give a view and everything inside is of good quality. All conveniences are provided, it is a good place. We also had some info on the building plus some restaurants recommendation from the host. The backdoor to the Vitória stairs was fun. Check in and check out were very effective. Good ways to heat the apartment, even if large. We liked this place! The food for the breakfast implies that you manage on your own the preparation and cleanup. In addition to this, there is no meat for breakfast and some products are in small quantity, like the jam (others like the oranges are quite generous). Parking is done a bit farther away, either on paid one at 12 eur per day payable every 2 hours or in free area for residents, if you want to take a chance in narrow Street and pretend you are resident. You need to some planning to sync with host for check in.

The front desk lady was so rude during our stay. We booked online and once we got to the hotel around 5pm (after check in time) our booking didn’t show on their computer. It was fine as we had all the confirmations but the woman kept insisting that it wasn’t in her computer. She was not trying to find a solution, she was very rude and unfriendly. We got the room after some unpleasant exchanges with this persons. The room was modern and very clean but the beds are worn out and very uncomfortable. The pillows are not comfy. The matters seem to be very old as they have a whole in the middle. The windows do not block the sound from outside so it’s very very noisy. The front desk won’t try to be Gringet or even make eye contact. It’s weird to see someone in the front desk..... I will not go back nor recommend this hotel.

After booking this guest house we were a little apprehensive as to what to expect, but as it turned out the guest house more than matched the details provide by Hotels.com, so there were no nasty surprises. We were contacted by the guest house prior to checking in to confirm our arrival time so that someone would be at the reception desk when we arrived. (note - the reception desk is not always manned) Checking in was easy, and we had a room on the top floor so we took advantage of the small lift in the centre of the building. Our room was small overlooking the front but had all the amenities, television, Kettle, hair dryer, small bathroom with good shower, air conditioning and big comfortable bed. The room was very clean and the room was cleaned every day of our stay. The breakfast in the morning is served in the small breakfast room behind reception and is continental and very good. The lady who served us was very friendly and provided usfull information on local shops, where to go etc. The hotel is very convenient for the Riberira where you will find lots of restaurants. Our room overlooked the front so there was an interesting view of the street leading down to the river. We are not sure what the cheaper rooms at the back of the guest house overlooked, so something to consider if you really want a good view. If we ever go to Porto again we would definately consider staying here again.

This was a wonderful accommodation to end our trip to Portugal We just stayed one night and had booked a standard room but upgraded on arrival, worth every penny to get double the size room, little balcony, much nicer outlook and a lovely shower room/dressing room area. Good lighting. Comfortable bed. Good towels. Basic toiletries. Would benefit from shower cap and hair conditioner. TV, safe, tea/coffee etc. Mini bar. Good shower but very slippery flooring. No milk/creamer and the hairdryer only blew slightly warm air - the only little faults that I found. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Stored our cases, gave restaurant recommendations, arranged a taxi, made us feel very welcome even after we'd checked out. Lovely breakfast on the lower ground floor which opens out to a small seating area. Continental but with eggs available for an extra 2 euro if you wish. Coffee machine available all day. Small lounge seating area on the ground floor, same as reception. Lift to all floors. Everything is modern and clean, nicely decorated, eclectic The hotel is situated near a small square with a good choice of bars and eateries plus a supermarket Easy walk into the heart of the city, just a few minutes walk to all the main sites Good soundproofing and sleep quality Non smoking property

This little gem is a bit off the beaten path, but is perfect for someone searching to feel like a local. Sites were still within walking distance, but it is located on a residential street and not a row of hotels. Hospitality is a bit slow, as you have to wait on one person running the entire place, but they were always friendly and accommodating. We were upgraded to a beautiful and enormous room with a tub overlooking the garden that was visited by adorable local cats. The room made us feel right at home and the decor was bohemian and funky. Since travelling in Europe for many years, it can be said that this hotel's breakfast is the richest. There are more than a dozen types of fresh bread and cakes alone, which have supported me. However, it must be noted that food must not be taken out in private, which greatly affects personality and national character. I saw with my own eyes foreign tourists packed eggs and bread in bags and took them away. As a result, they were stopped and confiscated by the waiter at the door. The restaurant is monitored and very shameful. At check-in, the waiter will give everyone a glass of champagne, very good taste, the room also presented a traditional Portuguese egg tart (pictured), a rare and cozy hotel. General network and complete facilities. It is more than 2 kilometers away from the city center (main scenic area) and can be reached on foot.

We stayed here for only 1 night as we were driving from the UK to Portugal. The hotel has free parking outside right next to the establishment; or you can pay €5 and park your car underground also at the hotels location. On arrival the receptionist Fillipa was amazing in welcoming us. She took us through all the facilities, when we told her of our final destination of Olhao she recommended a less visited beach. She also took a lot of time marking up a map of the city of Porto for us with places to visit and things to do; as well as explaining the options fully for getting into town. The hotel has a spa facility which we were going to use but we were too tired in the end so chose to chill out in our room after a meal in the restaurant. To use the spa there was a cost of €3 per person but you needed to have certain items to use it. These things included a swimming cap and flip flops, all items required for using the spa can be purchased at the hotel. The restaurant was very good indeed again with excellent and friendly staff, the food was excellent during our stay. The atmosphere was good and the place was clean and well presented. The only slight criticism of the food was that the chocolate tiramisu was a little bland but the rest of the food was excellent. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent with a range of pastries, continental, hot food and fresh fruit available. Our room was again excellent with a bath and separate shower, it had a decent entertainment tv system with films available to rent along with local, national and international satellite channels; not that we used it much. There are speedy elevators to all the floors which given the hotels size is really needed. Free Wi-fi is on tap. The city centre of Porto is a short metro ride away or you can take a taxi for about €8 which the hotel will call for you. To go in on the metro cost us €3 each for a return ticket; the machines are easy to use and have an English language option. Based on this experience I would absolutely stay here again, although brief our stay was fantastic and I wish we had more time to visit both Porto and stay in this lovely hotel.

The In Situ apartments are modern and the older photos do not do it justice so I would recommend checking it out on Hotels.com website for up to date information. They are excellently situated within a short walk of the Metro which goes directly from the airport to the City Centre. The Metro is modern, clean and very easy to navigate where you want to go - I wouldn't even think about bothering with a taxi unless you arrive very late at night. I also wouldn't bother paying a lot more for river view accommodation on the Ribeiro, unless you really want to be in the centre of the nightlife. As it is you can always walk down to the riverside from here, enjoy the bars and restaurants and then return for a good night's sleep! The main tourist sites are within easy walking distance of the apartment. Staff were young, friendly and spoke excellent English. We were delayed on arrival due to someone taking our suitcase from the carousel at the airport(!) but the young lady on duty was very welcoming and helpful when we eventually arrived. The outside of the house looks dowdy but everything inside is bright and modern. We had an apartment at the back looking out onto a grassed courtyard area and it was quiet and peaceful. Beds are comfortable and the rooms are air conditioned. The cooking facilities looked good but we mostly ate out as there are plenty of restaurants close by. Porto is a changing city with many houses being restored but there is still plenty of character to see. For a great view of the city climb the Torre do Clerigos. I would love to go back and I would recommend the In Situ apartments.
