We chose the Hotel Sextum based primarily on its central location. We wanted a hotel that we could use as a base and still be close enough to the different surrounding towns and sites that we were interested in visiting. Not only did the Sextum serve us well here, it also gave us a pleasing place to return to after our touring. This family run business is conveniently situated on a road that leads in and out of town, as well as being walking distance into the town centre. There is also a good, quite moderately priced restaurant, Modligno, beside the hotel, as well as a cafe and a small shop. The management, who are very nice and helpful, speak very good english. This is a well run and pleasant hotel. The rooms are well maintained, there is a mini fridge, flat screen tv, air con, as well as free wifi. The included continental breakfast, served buffet style, offers you more than ample selections, (nicely served lattes). One morning we were treated to a fine omelette, prepared by our fine hostess. There is also free parking, a car definitely gives you an advantage and that's why you choose to stay here, because of its central location. You are less than an hours drive away from Pisa, Livorno and Lucca. Lucca's old city and its city wall being well worth a visit. Siena, a designated World Heritage Site, is situated less than two hours away and Florence only one and a half hours away. All of this is through the beautiful Tuscany region countryside, much to experience here! Also, I would recommend setting aside a day to enjoy what is available right at hand. Vicopisano, a hilltop town, just down the road from the Sextum, is well worth a visit, perhaps a good spot to spend the afternoon. A climb to the top offers a splendid panorama of the magnificent green valley filled with olive groves and vineyards. We were there at the end of June and there was a music fest being held. Across, from where this was taking place, there was an unassuming, but beautiful '11th century' church that you must see. Inside there is a magnificent and dramatic wood carving at the altar. Also take some time to explore the city centre of Bientina, you can grab a meal or enjoy a coffee sitting in the square. We went in on a Saturday afternoon and were fortunate enough to be able to take in the 'weekly' flea market. This can be a good place to find a special "gift" or souvenir. There is also some great supermarkets in town from where you can purchase the fixing for sandwiches or perhaps prepared salads for a "light and healthy" supper. You can sit in some park or square and enjoy a picnic, Vicopisano is a place that comes to mind! The Hotel Sextum and Bientina region is a place I hope we can return to! This area offers much to do in 'the exploring' category. A small sidenote: If you are hungry for a good, reasonably priced pizza, and just want a take-out, try De Stefano Pizza, 7 euro for a delicious medium size. This restaurant located on the road we took to Siena, a short di

We came here to visit Pisa. It is close enough to the city although you need a car. 20 min drive to the city. The landlord gave us some good tips for things to do in the neighbourhood. Rooms are nice and clean. They are very helpful. We can’t enjoy the pool as the wether is cold now. Breakfast is basic but ok. Great cappuccino. Wifi could be better in the rooms.

At the heart of Pontedera is this small family-run business, with friendly personnel, comfortable - if somewhat essential - rooms, good breakfast selection, reasonably priced. No garage, but street parking available.

We booked this hotel after abruptly checking out of a disappointing villa. Hotel Armonia, however, made up for it. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and updated furnishings. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment and was very spacious for my husband and I along with our 4month old son. The apartment was well equipped and it had everything we needed for several days. They do light cleaning every day and full changes of linens every 3 days, which is good because anything more would just be a waste. The location was great. The hotel is within a block away from lots of great restaurants and shopping. Keep in mind that most restaurants in Italy do not open until 7 or 730pm. There is a big supermarket, Coopfi, within 5km. Pontedera is a nice little town, not touristy but within 30mins away from Pisa and Lucca. Lastly, the staff was great. The front desk was very friendly and informative, awesome housekeeping! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Tuscan area.

I read terrible reviews of this hotel when I was sent there by Easyjet due to a strike at Pisa airport and a cancelled flight. Don't believe what you read. The hotel is spotlessly clean, comfortable and efficient. Great if you need a stopover only 10 minutes from the airport. There's a small town a 10 minute walk away with bars and restaurants and a railway station with regular trains to Pisa. Breakfast is buffet style and very good, despite use of disposable plates and bowls. Excellent coffee from the machine...best I'd had all week, strong and hot! Evening meal was tasty and wine was good; both were cheap. This is an honest, budget hotel. Beware of the girl with glasses on reception. She refused to book us a taxi for the following day's trip to airport. The girl who took over in the evening was delighted to do that for us, couldn't have been more helpful.

We chose Villa Maya for the beautiful pictures and the fact it was outside of Pisa - we were a little worried post Covid lockdown about crowds and wanted to avoid Pisa city centre. My god, Hotel Villa Maya exceeded our expectations by miles!! The photos do not do the hotel justice, the building is so beautiful, you can feel the history, it’s total Tuscan chic. The grounds are beautiful and well kept - we all agreed what a stunning wedding venue it would be! 3 of us were staying, we booked a triple room and were given a 2 bedroom adjoining room, both with air conditioning which was wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Villa Maya, service was great! You can feel the family run ethos. Chef Suzy’s food is out of this world! We were very lucky our first night to be the sole diners in the restaurant - we were totally spoiled by Suzy’s creations!! The main menu offered was the half board option which was great value for money - 2 courses, wine and water for around €20. Breakfast, again plentiful, an area for self service and an area to be served, choices of fruits, yogurts, cereals, bread, pastries and drinks. Lots of choice and Suzy’s chocolate croissants were again - out of this world! The hotel is very tranquil, surrounded by countryside and sunflower fields! If you wish to venture into Pisa - a car is recommended, we didn’t hire one and when we asked reception for a taxi recommendation it was no trouble (Riccardo at Turini rental driver was fantastic! We emailed the hotel before arrival and were recommended him for airport transfer). The village is a short walk away, which has a shop that sells baked goods, snacks and drinks. There is also a pharmacy. We walked to the shop for drinks and ice creams. The pool is fantastic, really modern design.. perfect for lounging in the sun with a book. Plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. As far as Covid measures go, we felt very safe - much safer than in the U.K.! Our only regret, is that we did not book a longer stay! We hope to return again in the future. Thank you to all at Hotel Villa Maya for a wonderful relaxing stay.
