We visited Ipswich specifically to see the Ark and the Travelodge was literally across the road from the marina where it was docked! We had a room at the front of the hotel which did mean there was a bit of traffic noise but it had a lovely view over the marina with a gorgeous sunset. There was a good number of car parking spaces at the hotel and we managed to park easily, however we did notice that later in the evening it was full so would advise getting parked early if possible (there was a car park just across the road if required, although unsure of charges). The room was lovely and warm when we arrived (was a very cold February day) and we managed to maintain the heat which was great. The staff were super helpful and friendly. We ordered a pizza from the bar/restaurant and were able to take it back to our room which was nice- food was served quickly and was very tasty, competitive price as well. We hadn't ordered breakfast from the hotel but there was a lovely little cafe (Cafe Marina) literally across the road which served breakfast all day as well as a great range of other food / drinks (lovely service, very clean and great prices) which would be a great alternative.

I chose this one for an overnight stay, whilst meeting up with friends in the area. I find Premier Inns are more consistent than other lower cost hotels, so was comfortable paying a bit more than the cheaper alternatives. It’s not the easiest hotel to find. It’s on a two-lane one way system with a bit of an excursion if you miss it (as I did). However it’s in one of the more interesting parts of town and minutes from the quay for a nice walk and take in the fresh air. The hotel reception is on the first floor with the restaurant. Check in was efficient and friendly. Access to the resident corridors required the room key; reassuring as it is possible for anyone off the street to reach any floor without going by reception. I went for a disabled room as I was expecting a wheelchair bound friend to join me (who didn’t in the end). Rooms are of a reasonable size and practical. Tea and coffee facilities are always welcome. A largish TV and desk is provided, where you could connect a laptop to the TV if you so wish. Bed was king size and the mattress comfortable. In other words the standard I’ve come to expect from the chain. I feel it’s worthwhile mentioning some minor issues I had, none of which would be showstoppers for future visits. The biggest one was mobile phone reception (carrier reception, no so much wifi). I couldn’t get any service in the room unless I was near a window, and then it was, at best, flakey. This is a major concern because when I’m away I need to be contactable. Free wifi was available, although it was fairly lousy. You certainly couldn’t stream Netflix with it, and it was barely able to download a few emails, although I was able to send messages no problem. The room was booked for two people, but there were only towels for one (and insufficient pillows by my preference). No issue in my case, but presumably reception would have been able to sort this. My room was on the first floor. The area around the hotel is quite busy with two-lane one way roads carrying lots of traffic. Insulation was excellent, but I did open the window to see what the noise was like, and I would have found it too loud. Thankfully air conditioning was available, although the control panel doesn’t have a backlight and it was difficult to read the icons to get it working. Bathroom was ok with grab rails for disabled needs. Disabled rooms either have shower-only wet rooms or low level bath. Basic towels are provided but a flannel is not. For soap and shampoo it seems to be a generic, no-nonsense dispenser for either shower or sink. Shower was ok, with large controls suited to those with low dexterity. The bathroom had one emergency cord with a reset controller. This is well placed for the shower and toilet, although two may have been better as the sink area was a bit out of reach. I usually don’t pre-pay for breakfast as there’s no particular advantage in doing so. The breakfast room is not massive but there is plenty of comfortable sea

I stay at this hotel for 2-3 nights at a time a few times a year for work, it wouldn’t be my first choice of hotel but the trips are booked centrally and this is where they always put me. The hotel is nice enough. Pleasant modern decor, clean, friendly staff, good location and the food is nice. However, I never get a good nights sleep here. I like a quiet and dark room and I always find the rooms in this hotel are neither. Whilst the room has black out curtains, there is a large gap below the door which light from the landing floods in through. There is also a small green light above the door for a smoke alarm or similar which also floods light, and then another light on the phone. I use towels to block the door and phone light, but nothing can be done about the green light above the door. Noise wise, the hotel doors bang shut, so every time someone goes to bed in the evening, or to breakfast in the morning, BANG! Which breaks my sleep multiple times during the night and I never get the benefit of sleeping past 6am. You’d think when they refurbished the hotel in 2018 that they’d of thought about adding soft close to the doors, but clearly not. The road noise if you are in a room on the front of the hotel by the roundabout is also loud in the morning, so ask for a room at the back. If you can sleep through anything then this is a really nice hotel, but if you are a light sleeper, then packing an eye mask and ear plugs would be wise.

This is a budget hotel so the rooms are very small and the facilities are quite basic. That aside, it is clean and the beds are comfortable and it is a great town centre location. They have recently stopped charging extra for use of the TV and by booking via EasyHotel's ClubBedzz website you can also get free wifi. I stay here regularly and the reception team of Claire, Chloe and Renae are always very welcoming and extremely helpful. Very good value for money.

After travelling 270 miles we arrived to The Station Hotel. Our money was taken and Room 8 key given. Sat having a pint and need to use facilities I decided to use the room. What an absolute filth pit. In a nut shell no vent on wall, loft access left open, masking tape on lamp shades, bathroom ceiling coming unstuck, window sealed with cardboard, one window pane replaced with plastic sheet and gaffer taped into place, room very dirty, so dirty in fact I did not use the facilities. I went back to reception to see young girl who had given me key who said she was aware of the state of the room and would speak to her manager. The chef came out and only offered a card refund, and said they have 2 more rooms the same - not helpful after 270 miles. The "Manager" then arrived back and his first thought was to wipe the bar down. He came over and asked what was the issue with the room. Card refunded but Ipswich was fully booked due to 3 big events. We had an absolute nightmare getting a room but eventually sorted in time to get to our event. The Station in Ipswich is a Greene King owned "Hotel" I will be calling them direct to register my disappointment and look forward to their response........

We stayed here for one night. Overall I’d say it was a positive stay, although the problems I’ll mention below really do need to be sorted. Positives: The price is good - reasonable. The owners/staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The location is very good as it is near the train station, and yet somehow not too noisy. The rooms were also generally good with nice, large beds and pretty clean for a house which is clearly not new. Breakfast was pretty good as well. Negatives: The showers and toilets were the biggest problems. We stayed in two rooms, and both had shower issues. In one of the rooms the shower wouldn’t turn off, while in the other the shower head was clearly broken and so sprayed water everywhere except where you wanted it to go. The toilet in one room was incredibly loud and also faulty as well. Finally, the shower water leaked through and onto the floor with the toilet meaning we had to put towels down to stop it flooding the room. Smaller issues were doors which were difficult to lock and unlock, and sometimes having to wait a while for someone to come and help. The place isn’t the Ritz and of course no one would expect that as it’s a 2-star establishment, but I’d say it delivers almost everything you’d hope for. I hope they sort out the showers and toilets, though.

Staff were so helpful and friendly. Big birthday and arrived to find bubbly and chocolates in our room with a lovely message which helped numb the fact I am no longer a spring chicken! Arrived early but were able to check in and get a parking space. Lounge/bar area is great. Prices a little steep but not too bad. Room was great and bed really comfy. Bathroom clean and rainfall shower was lovely. Breakfast was delicious and extremely plentiful with a great selection, there was even prosecco if you fancied it. Late check out is also a bonus. We will definitely use Pentahotels again.

We stayed here one Saturday night whilst attending a family party. Check in was really slow moving, and when we finally got to the desk the check in desk clerk was miserable and not very welcoming. We checked in just after 3pm and once we had completed the check in process he said I'll just check your room is ready. You would have thought if check in was 3 then you would hope the room would be ready if check out is 11am. We had people in our party that checked in after 4pm and their rooms were still not ready. The reception didn't even know there was a function going on at the hotel, which is where the main issue with the hotel starts. We proceed to our room on the group floor, and on route to our room the corridors we're just a mess, dirty Laundry everywhere, house keeping trolleys, and empty glasses outside multiple rooms (probably from the night before). We booked a club room which was nice compared to other rooms in the party, where the décor was very dated. Decor was nice, and bathrooms were quite modern and looked to be newly refurbed. Although the bathroom door was really dirty and toothpaste all over the handle which wasn't pleasant. One thing we did notice in the room and in the corridors is the smell of bad drains, clearly they have a drainage problem somewhere. Once we unpacked we headed to the Spa area for a swim which was a nice area. When we got to the health club desk we were told there was no robes and no paddocks, so was just given a towel but luckily had a padlock already in our gym bags. We had to walk through the hotel afterwards in just our wet costumes and towels which wasn't nice. Our main issue with the hotel was the staff, they were so unhelpful and rude, and there was clearly no communication between the various parts of the hotel. Our theory is that maybe there are 2 or 3 different companies running the various departments of the hotel so they don't know what was what. It was kinda run like Faulty Towers! We rang down from our room to reception to ask if they provided fridges for the room, or whether we can get ice and a bucket. The clerk rudely and abruptly said you need to speak to the restaurant several times. I clearly stated there was only the number on the phone to ring down to reception and not the restaurant and he said I'll put you through, but there was no answer. We gave up and ended up driving to a nearby supermarket to get a bag of ice! At most hotels the reception is your main point of contact and should know the in's and out's of the hotel but they clearly had no idea. Luckily the family party went well, people enjoyed themselves and the buffet food provided was nice. Most of the party said that we wouldn't stay there again, and would rather pay the taxi fare home. Overall not the Belstead Brook Hotel it used to be when it was at its prime and not the boutique hotel they advertise in their brochures!

First of all the service was better than I have ever experienced, so welcoming and pleasant. Me and my 7 year old son stayed there the night as we were off to Rendelsham forest the next day, on arrival ther receptionist was so helpful and kind. Makes a huge difference, the next morning another lady said good morning and asked about our stay, makes a difference coming from London that staff actually care and are so helpful. So on leaving we forgot my sons Ted, he doesnt sleep without it and was in tears when i found we left him there. But once again not only did the staff find him they posted him back with a lovely letter saying how much fun he had but was happy to be on his way home. Guys you dont realise how much you have done for us, I am so in awe of the fact that customer service like yours still exist, I travel alot and i promise no other hotel has gone beyond my expectations the way yours has....thank you so much me and zak both really appreciate it..... Best Regards and thanks again

We chose this Holiday Inn when we were visiting the Essex/Suffolk coast as it gave easy access to both. The only downside was that it is located between 2 busy roads so was a bit noisy, nothing that ear plugs didn’t sort out tho. The hotel was very clean and tidy and the staff courteous and friendly. We chose a room with a king size bed, and yes it was 2 singles pushed together (pretty normal these days) but it was comfy and didn’t affect our sleep. We didn’t eat in the hotel, choosing instead to eat at the Brewers Fayre - a 5 min walk away, and had breakfast at the Toby Carvery, 10 mins away. Well placed for road connections, we would def use again if in the area

We were working in a hotel in Ipswich but decided to stay at the Carlton Hotel. Great choice! Welcomed by a friendly and attentive owner, we were shown to a warm clean bedroom with good facilities. In the. Morning there was a fantastic selection for breakfast which kept us going all day. No bells and whistles just a genuinely good, honest, clean and friendly place to stay
