La Maison sur la Sorgue - Esprit de France, a marvelous centrally located lovingly restored Provence hotel, Ideal for exploring the town or local area. The owners Marie-Claude and Frédéric were outstanding hosts, starting with a very warm welcome. We stayed just a week ago for a few nights. With the virus being on our minds we can assure everyone of the cleanliness of the hotel, our room was spotless, a charming person diligently cleaned and disinfected the room daily. I believe there are five large bedrooms all with different, unusual and interesting decoration, our room had pictures from Hans Silvester on the wall, a four poster bed, stand alone bath tub, and some very attractive and fun lighting, It seems anything movable in the hotel can be purchased. Breakfast was great fun, Frédéric served us a breakfast that changed subtly daily, breads, cheese, tart, fruit and eggs any style. a very local breakfast, and every evening we were served tea in our room. Thoroughly recommend this beautiful hotel.( The owners also own an attached antiques shop from where I guess the internal furnishing come from)

The hotel did not live up to our expectations based upon being rated as a four-star hotel and the price range. The first thing we noticed upon arrival was that most of the parking spots were so tight that you would be worried that your car could be easily damaged by the neighbouring car opening their doors. Whilst the reception area looked grand, the rooms disappointed. We stayed two nights in a Prestige room and one night in a Junior Suite. The carpets looked a bit dirty and there were stains on the couch in the Suite. Whilst advertised as having free Wifi this was slow and limited to email and a bit of browsing. To get some reasonable speed and usage you had to pay an additional fee (so much for advertised free Wifi!). The coffee machine was useless (the water was not hot enough for a simple tea or coffee) and the plastic spoons they provide with the coffee cups in the room did feel low budget, and unexpected of a 4-star hotel. The doors of the shower in the Prestige room were leaking so we had to mop up a lot of water after each shower. When we went to have a drink in the bar around 7 PM there was nobody available. I had to ask Reception for service, and the staff member who came clearly had no experience in preparing cocktails. A bit later, another guest also had to wait and request to be served (all staff were eating together in the dining room). Nobody asked our room number when we ordered our drinks, nor were there when we finished them, so I had to return later to request that our 2 cocktails be charged to our room. When we left the next morning, we were charged for 6 instead of 2 cocktails. In summary, on paper this appears a beautiful, grand hotel with much to offer. We have stayed at many other 4 star boutique hotels during our stay in France. By comparison The Grand Hotel Henri lacks the style and service that it advertises, and one could expect for this price category.

Perfect location to visit the Provence area. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, the gardens are beautiful, the pool is the best place to unwind after a day of visiting the area, the meals are delicious and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful... We will definitely go back as it was just perfect...

My sister and I stayed in one of the cottages for 5 days Oct 2019, it was fabulous. Sandrine and Guy were very welcoming and the fresh croissants and baguettes were delicious with farm fresh eggs and home made jams. Very close to town which has great market days. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful area of France. Thank you from Arley and Faye. Highly recommended.

Was picked in the first place because it was in the right distance of all the places wanted to visit in Provence and out of town. When arrived just realized how perfect we choose. It is located on one of the Surge river cricks that actually flows on its back yard. Most of the rooms are on the ground floor in small buildings where you can reach by your car. And park close, Good when you have to carry your luggage. There are 2 pools between the buildings and each room has is own porch that you can sit and enjoy the garden. There is a great Restaurant in the hotel for dinners . The hotel is Very close to center of L’isle de la Surge a charming town called Venice of Provence siting on the River Surge and is known of Antiques Markets. Rooms are spacious very clean and have air condition - important for a hot weather in summer (we had 34-36 degrees celsius). All together with a very fair price made it one of our best hotels in this trip

This hotel looked so nice in the online photos, with those little tables by the river. But most of the rooms seemed to have a view of the car park, and even up by the unappealing rooftop pool, there wasn’t much of a river view. The twin room we had was perfectly okay, and clean. But the balcony was scruffy, and the cleaner had just shoved the accumulated dirt, leaves and cigarette butts into a corner! Yuk. The staff were all extremely nice, and very helpful, so no complaints there. And it was good to have off-street parking. The hotel location is also excellent, very close to the centre of town - a very easy walk. So in future I’d probably look for a different hotel, but if I had to stay here, it would be okay. Average!!
