Stayed here for one week on business in Cologne. Hotel is pleasant enough, clean and tidy. There are lots of rules here that are enforced by the staff, always hand in the room key when you go out, iron and ironing boards are forbidden in the rooms and ironing can only be done by the staff. Can feel a bit confusing and likely intimidating to some people, the staff are generally friendly though. The duvets on the beds are far too small and if you are tall and/or big you will struggle. Overall the place has an old fashioned feel and is a little off the beaten track in Cologne but this all adds to its charm and it’s a good place to stay while in Cologne.

Previously the positive: The house has character is well located, walking in the city centre and still quiet. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and is well furnished. The shower is quite narrow because of the roofs. However, the incorporated kitchen was only superficially clean. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed. Breakfast was quite visible, it was only available filter coffee or tea. There was no help even the nice staff.

This is a small hotel but very nice and clean with helpful staff. The only issue I had was that the bed was very uncomfortable. On the bedside table there is a form asking if you'd like a topper for the bed to make it more comfortable, and a selection of Tempur pillows. They obviously know the beds and pillows are of the lowest standard possible, so why don't they just give you better products from the beginning. For a 2 night stay it means 50% of the sleep was pretty bad. Breakfast was nice, difficult as I'm vegan and not a lot to choose from but sure everyone else would be happy. Staff helped me find a restaurant to eat the first night and I did my own research for the second which was much better. Bathroom was nice too, big shower unit but not too strong a shower. Nespresso machine in the room which was nice touch. They say it's near the Messe, exhibition hall but it's a 10 minute walk to the station, one stop on the train then a walk at the other end so not the near but not too far either. I would stay here again but would ask for the Tempur pillows and mattress topper before I arrived.

A friendly, well - run small hotel. Very quiet location despite being 5 minutes walk from the main station. Excellent, first class breakfast with fresh eggs and bacon cooked to order if requested. Small rooms, but this is an older, town centre building so that’s only to be expected. The only down side, and it’s a purely personal one, is that I suffer from a back back, and - not typical for Germany - the beds are quite soft. The mattresses are fine but they have sprung bases rather than slatted, and that makes the bed too soft for me.....! I wonder if they have rooms with harder beds, or if they could provide a ‘bed board’? But if you like a softer bed, you’d love it.

There is nothing great to talk about this bland hotel, apart from its stunning location right next to the iconic DOM cathedral. What made the stay a bit unfavourable was the high price we had to pay for a basic room in a bland hotel LOCATION: steps away from the Cathedral and a few minutes' walk from the Train station DINE + DRINK: the iconic FRUH Kolsch pub is right outside the hotel as this place is owned by them ROOM: We stayed in Room 204, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Partial view of the Dom Cathedral; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: No Air conditioner in the room, and only a lame fan!! So it was quite hot throughout the day! BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Decent quality cosmetics FACILITIES: No Gym or pool on site. SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home, and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages

One metro stop from main train station. Modern, clean and new. Only issue was that thermostat in the room wouldn’t go below 19 degrees celciusq and it’s not possible to open a window so the room got stuffy at sunny times. Didn’t eat in hotel, just used it to explore Cologne. 15 minutes walk to old town or use the handy electric scooters at the train station.

The hotel room booked is a quadruple room with upper and lower bunks. The room is small in size and is actually a sleeping function. Bedding supplies are charged separately. If you want to save costs, you need to bring your own sheets and quilts. There is a charge to collect at the front desk, and you have to make your own bed. The hotel is far from the railway station, about 20 to 30 minutes on foot. There is a toilet and a bath room in the room, which are separated separately, which is more convenient.

The design of the hotel is very special, being housed in an old insurance company’s head quarters. The theming around space is very cool without feeling cheesy or over the top. Very instagrammable elevators! We arrived late but the front desk team was ready for our arrival. The friendly front desk team member got us a generous upgrade to a larger room facing the dome! The room was spacious with an integrated bathroom with a large shower. We loved the modern design of the room. Everything you might need as available, free minibar, desk, plenty of space, big TV, many windows, live plants. We went to the bar for a drink, there was a big group having drinks and the staff was busy but still friendly. Drinks were decent! Breakfast at Neni was delicious, with loads of choices and very high quality! We would have expected some other Middle Eastern specialties than hummus. The breakfast is 100% self service so there was almost no interaction with the staff. But the little contact we had they were very friendly! For a breakfast without any service I would have expected them to be more attentive when cleaning plates/ setting up tables. Check out was quick an really friendly. Still my favourite 25hours Hotel in Germany so far!

The location is very good, and it took a few minutes to walk out of the train station with large luggage. The rooms are very clean and tidy. The European rooms are always mini. This one is very good, with complete facilities, and those who say that this does not provide that does not provide, many European hotels are like this, environmental protection, there is a need to find the front desk. The breakfast at this price is very good. I was surprised. The young lady who had breakfast is very kind and friendly, and the uncle who checked out was also very happy.

The youth hostel is in a good and quiet location, it's relatively quiet at night and the staff can come quickly, but they were unmotivated, which was noticeable when the food was served. Regrettably, a clock was missing in the room and the locks on the valuables lockers in the room were prone to problems. The subway station is not very far away, so you could walk. As usual, the food was much too small 100 ml glasses and the only water dispenser was always used, so there was a 5 meter queue in front of the machine. That was very annoying when eating. The juices didn't taste like juice (and there was only at breakfast) and the yoghurt didn't taste like yoghurt either. When eating, it was almost always loud, so that it was difficult to understand each other. There is clearly room for improvement. The Rhine beach is very beautiful and quiet. However, in the flight path from the local airport, which is great for plane fans, but you always heard the subway at night. There were also rats and a lot of wasps (summer) on the outside area.

I had an enjoyable stay for one night at Astor und Aparthotel. The taxi from the airport cost almost 40 euro so I would recommend getting the train to Cologne central which cost 3 euro and is a 20 min walk to the hotel. I was staying alone and felt completely comfortable in the hotel and the surrounding area. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. The hotel room cost 79.80 euro. It was clean and pleasant enough although my room was a single and really was a single bed in a small room. The location is good - around a 20 min walk from most places I wanted to go. I wouldn’t say the value is great for the room I got compared to what I paid but it is a decent hotel.

We specifically requested a room at the back of the hotel and had a really nice and quiet nights sleep. Clean, good pillows, good matress. Large TV with rather limited english TV channels. Complimentary bottle of water is a nice touch, as well as the Ipad in the room with free wifi. Bathroom is rather small, but has Rituals soap and a make up mirror, but no other toiletries available. We stayed in this hotel on a coupon deal, but due to its far location from the city center (20 minutes by tram) we are not likely to return. There are no restaurants or bars anywhere near in walking distance, really a suburban (safe) area. We didn't use the hotel car park as we found it rather expensive, but parked our car in a nearby street.

We knew that reception opening time was till 22:00 and therefore i wrote, in the booking note, ”late checkin, our flight will land at 21.25”.  I thought that someone was waiting for us to checkin, it was just a matter of 30min. When we arrived, around 22:30, we found the door closed, we rang the bell, but nobody was answering.  We then tried to call the hotel emergency number, none answered. Worried abut the situation, it was night and we were on the street without any accommodation.  We then went into the restaurant beside the hotel entrance and fortunately we found a girl very kind to help us. She also tried to call the emergency number without success. After 5 calls, finally someone answered the phone, but unfortunately she was not able to speak English. I don't speak German, unfortunately, and I passed my phone to the girl of restaurant that talked to the girl from the hotel emergency number. She said that our code was 888, but neither us and the restaurant girl were able to find a pin pad to type this pin. The guy at the phone did not have an idea on where this pin pad could have been. After at least 20 minutes and other 2 calls, the hotel guy told us that the pin pad was in the street close to the ring bell, something really invisible, especially in the night. We finally got the key and entered our room. Together with the key, we got a welcome letter. Unfortunately it was in German and therefore we were not able to read it. Is it a good welcome? When we entered the room, we immediately noticed that it was not very clean and the bathroom even worse. The wc was really dirty (see pictures). We also noticed that a lot of long hairs were on the room/bath floor and on the table. We also found long hairs on bed sheets (see picts). Only half roll of toilet paper was available. We could not fix our issues because in the meanwhile the restaurant closed and if we had called the hotel emergency number, we would not have been able to communicate. The following day, we talked to the receptionist and he really apologized for what happened. He also changed our room, fortunately. We have finally asked for a late checkout for the next day, since our flight is at 22:00. We requested checkout at 18:00 and expected an immediate positive answer, after all problems we had, but the receptionist said that had to ask the boss. After a couple of hours we asked again and she said that we need to wait for tomorrow morning for his answer. The next day, late checkout was denied because the cleaning staff had to clean (?) the rooms. While leaving the hotel, we saw the bed sheets were left (during cleaning service) on the floor ... without any protection and we fully understand why the bed sheets were full of hairs... Having the room not fully cleaned can happen also in the best hotels, but usually a good customer care can fix immediately the issues and maybe add something complimentary to the impacted guest, just to give a strong sign of sorry. We haven't received anyth

Convenient location, you can see the cathedral by opening the window; walking to any attraction in the old town is very close; there are no elevators on the fourth floor, only two of our rooms on the fourth floor, very quiet, simple and comfortable decoration of the duplex room. Carpets in some areas of the hotel (the dining area for breakfast) are tired and dated. Breakfast was excellent - great choices. Room - I had 239 which faced the Cathedral - great view and bed was comfortable. Hotel is 4 star standard but I’d have no qualms about staying here again. As others have said - the gym is 16 euros extra and this should be made clear on the Expedia/Hotels.com and Booking.com sites.

We stayed in the Novum Hotel Leonet in Cologne and it was pretty disappointing. The hotel is outdated, the room was shabby and smelled like cigarette smoke (room 326). Wifi not working. The key of the room got lost in the reception while we were visiting the Christmas market so we had to change room during the stay. The lady in the reception didn’t care a lot. Then the breakfast, should be my favorite moment of the day. First day breakfast at 9, they were out of kaiserbrotchen and also ran out of eggs. Second day breakfast I was happy to see kaiserbrotchen but unfortunately they were soft and soggy, obviously baked the day before. So, only positive point we can think of is the location in the centre of Cologne. We will be back in Cologne for sure, but we’ll not come back here.

Standed here for 3 days during Gamescom. Typical Italian hotel - paintings, mirrors, interestingly decorated corridors. The rooms themselves are already old - the carpet was erased, the soap holder was broken in the bathroom. There was no air conditioner in the room, but lucky with the weather and that didn't prevent. The night had to close the windows, though the street is small, but cars are driving, people are walking. But the room is really huge. The closet, the hangers, the beds are comfortable, we have perfectly slept after a hard day on the feet at the exhibition. Breakfasts are good, everything was enough. On the corner (if you get out of the hotel, then right to the 50-100) there is a great Chinese restaurant. If you cross the road and continue, there in one quarter of Wapiano, in the evening it was possible to eat quietly. From Gamescom it is, of course, far-wat, on foot you will not get. It is necessary to go minutes 10-15 to the metro-electric station and from there to go 2 stops. There is no shopping nearby, 20 minutes walk to the center where all the shops are. To the big supermarket 10 minutes walk. In general, the hotel is a little off the main roads, but quite acceptable.

It was a very clean hotel. Our room beds are shiny. Workers like the Gulery helper. Location is less far from the centre but 10 minutes by walking. We haven't already walked everywhere. I recommend.
