      After a missed train connection left me looking for a last minute room in Reggio, I found myself in the Palace Masoanri truthfully because it was the cheapest room in the city. The location is also pretty handy, at the far end of Garibaldi from the Centrale train station (quicker if you get off at Lido station if possible) so it seemed ideal for what I required of it. Staff at the desk were perfectly friendly, and the lobby very nice and modern. Upon taking the elevator to my floor it became clear this was the only modern part of the hotel. Now this isn’t to say it’s awful, because it’s not, but clearly it hasn’t been updated since at least the late 1970s. This also stands for the rooms, and especially bathroom. Again, it’s not awful, but very dated. Room was clean, just old, and the air conditioning worked adequately. My only serious complaint was that there was a very definite smell of smoke rooted in the room. Overall the room was cheap, and served its purpose. Would I recommend it for a longer stay? No. For an overnight it is perfect though

      This is a gloriously positive review. ‘E’verything about the ‘E’ Hotel was fabulous. From the room size and comfort of the bed to the food and the staff. The town has some construction works upgrading various beach areas but these do not affect the stay. There is no noise or interruption at all. Happily come back here again and again. And just across the road is the best ice cream parlour in the world.

      I have traveled and travelled for vacation and work for 35 years, in Italy, Europe and the world, so I can modestly confirm that I have some experience of hotels and guests. The courtesy and welcome since the reservation is the first very positive note. The palace ( at the time , beautiful and completely reconstructed in a conservative way - but there is still someone who has the taste and does / knows to do it in Italy??? -) it is very beautiful and structured with all kinds of comfort, although in fact in the center, rooms, or, better, some, almost mini-lounges, are exactly what a person expects to be to give hospitality: cleaning "disarmating" ( in any sense ever found equal in anywhere ) order, taste and efficiency. Whoever leads the structure do it with dedication and love, and like all people who have their own job their passion can do it only well and with excellent results. If you have to stay in REGGIO CALABRIA even for a few nights, for your family or for a single job, the only reason not to stay in VILLALAVINIA is because it's all booked, otherwise you have to come here! p.s. trust yourself ; I'm neither a family nor a friend ...but only a person who knows the positives, and when, rarely, you find them, you want to share them!
