Think twice before you go to this place. They have the most awefull breakfast. The food is so distasteful and when you complaint about it, you are told no one complains to us. To begin with the hotel over charged us, though my colleague has been staying here since 5 years, it was my first experience. We learnt about us being over charged over the others when I spoke to a few people from India at the hotel during our stay and also online prices from India(a couple of weeks before flying to Dhaka) was cheaper than what we paid. Almost a usd100/night!! Is a pure rip off for this place. Furthermore when we spoke to one Mr. Babu, who apparently is in charge of reservations says that it's not possible to lessen the room rate after paying 100% upfront!! Then why on earth did they loot us in the first place!! There is the noiseiest road even at 3am (the side I was given a room) and not to forget the other side of the hotel has a vegetable market and people screaming and shouting from 11pm to 5am. So for a business traveller like me it was a total mess coming here. Well here are the pros:- This place has a 24/7 Room service. So food is available at any time. The minibar is not that highly charged. To continue with the nightmares, the hotel reception will not aid or help in any manner to book a uber. We don't know the roads dammit!! We are your guests!! Have the basic courtesy to atleast book us an uber!! They will plainly refuse. Now, here comes the flip side, I happened to visit the posh area Gulshan !! I'm told that in the price we paid for this worst food and service, we will get a hotel in Gulshan too.. imagine two rooms, three nights thats $600 for three nights!! That's how they loot people. Me being a vegetarian, I had the super option of only daal and parota ( as they call it) in the breakfast spread!!! Superb isn't it!! They have lost me as a customer, that too one who needs to travel every 2-3 months to Dhaka!! Thanks to the ill-mannered reception staff and the chef who tells me the stinking oil used for French fries is totally ok and no one complains to.us about it!! Keep it up!!

I might give it 1 star but for its location and attitude of stuff I gave another hit. Well, Location is great for its accessibility and plenty of public transport for any part of Dhaka. The stuff will welcome you with smile. Why other 3 stars disappears: Room is not good for night stay. Room is not clean at all and if you non smoker it is hard to breath for smoky smell. If you have dust allergy, please stay out of it. Perhaps its been rented for hourly use and boarder make fun here. Intoxicated guests make noise at night and authority don't take action even after complain many times as they are paid for it. Wifi was really slow I had to use my mobile data instead. I can't recommend this hotel to anyone because I am not going to book this hotel again.

The hotel is in a local wealthy area with a good service attitude. It’s just that the hotel and the picture we live in are quite big, and it looks like a loft. There are a lot of mosquitoes, and the bite is terrible.

I booked this place at very short notice after being badly let down by a local Airbnb "Superhost". Rafflesia coudn't be more of a contrast, clean, welcoming, great location at Gulshan 1, and helpful staff during my first visit to Bangladesh. The room was comfortable, clean (though a few mossies on the loose) but they supply a spray. Two bedrooms, a double and a nice single with a study area great for work, good bathroom with lovely hot shower, combined kitchen / dining / living room with TV that has a decent selection of channels inc BBC and CNN. I like cooking for myself so the basic cooking facilities were fine with a two burner stove (no oven) and a microwave and fridg/ freezer. Need western food? Check out the German Butcher or Lavender not far away at Gulshan 2 - feasible by rickshaw or tuk tuk (and they have Uber in Dhaka, though waiting times and mapping can be a bit confusing). Lots of hot water in the sink in the bathroom but curiously none at the tap in the kitchen but washing up liquid supplied. Sufficient pots, pans, knives, forks and spoons, bowls etc.Ask reception if you need anything else. Note no toaster so they can toast bread in kitchen for you. A strange ommission and perhaps note to hotel - have a few toasters available for loan? There's a kettle in the room for tea too. I also got fresh milk in Lavendar supermarket - just ask them where it is. Seemed fine and fresh to me, though I would not drink it raw! There was also a balcony looking out over the adjacent road. I suspect everywhere in Dhaka is plagued by the unnecessary tooting of drivers so one can't complain about that. Got a good price to extend my stay after the first few days from the manager and a good deal to stay late on my last day as I was flying out in the evening. Fast WiFi that supported VPN and allowed me to stream iPlayerand Netflix okay. Ask for an extension power lead to provide enough outlets for your chargers. I borrowed on one arrival. Place seems nice and secure with steel gates and two guards at entrance to car park areas in front of lobby. There's another fella with a shotgun - which you see everywhere). Nice combination of air con in each of the main rooms and ceiling fans which keeps things comfortable. I got a free English Language newspaper under my door every day and the room was also cleaned and serviced daily by the team. I'm a harsh and intolerant critic of poor service and low standards, but I can honestly say, this hotel did the job expected at a reasonable price. All in all highly recommended if you want a decent hotel in the heart of Gulshan that delivers what you need. I will certainly stay here if I return to Dhaka.

This hotel rates itself a 4* and charges prices accordingly. That is quite inaccurate. It is a three star and at best an 'Indianized' 4 star. What that means is that Indians might accept this as a 4 star but by international standards it is not. Like all other hotels of this category and above in Dhaka, the rate here is way too high for an impoverished country like Bangladesh and a condemned city like Dhaka. AS you enter, the lobby is very unimpressive and quite dark almost as if the owners are trying to save on electricity. Electricity is a problem any way since it breaks down frequently leaving the elevators unusable. I was upgraded to an Executive room which was quite spacious and a nice bathroom with a shower stall which is my preference. However, it was facing the side into the balcony of the adjoining building and also it was not possible to keep the drapes open. Hence it was dark all day long. The breakfast was disgusting. All of the hot items were dinner items, most likely leftovers from the dinner buffet the night before and consisted of an array of killed / dead animals in various forms. Bangladesh is a land of butchers and carnivores who thrive on devouring killed / dead animals all day long. The energy in the restaurant was just disgusting. Fresh fruits were tasteless and there was no fresh juice. The only saving grace was the good home made bread and fresh dosas. The only place to eat in Dhaka is Jatra Biroti and fortunately it is walking distance from the Hotel. The spa was pathetic too. It consists of just two treatment rooms with no waiting area, or steam / sauna. I had a 120 min massage which ended 15 mins early. That may hav ebeen good becaus ethe therapist was clueless about any massage techniques. Plus she was using Johnsons Baby Oil for the aromatherapy massage. It was terrible. The area around the HOtel is relatively upscale and pleasant compared to the rest of Dhaka. But remember you are in a Muslim country and you will be bombarde with prayer calls all day and night from the neighborhood mosques. However, I would not stay here again.

The hotel is in a good location and there are many places to eat. Although the hotel is small, the service is good and the facilities are good. The variety of breakfast is not less and the taste is good.

I stayed a Coventina Lake Suites for over 6 months and had a great time living there. The building is located conveniently in Gulshan-2 next to Gulshan Lake, which guarantees great views and a nice, calm atmosphere. Room and amenities were great and everything was cleaned daily. The building also offers a gym with a treadmill, weights and machines, a rooftop terrace with swimming pool and lounge area, as well as jacuzzi rooms and a restaurant on the 2nd floor. The food that was served in the restaurant or delivered to your room was good, fresh and tasty. WiFi works pretty well and the backup generator delivers power within 7 seconds in case of a power cut (quite important when you stay in Dhaka). The best thing about living at Coventina is, however, the people. The staff is super friendly and always goes out of their way to help the residents and make everybody’s stay as comfortable as possible. I really enjoyed my time there and I am looking forward to stay at Coventina again during my next visit to Dhaka.

The Hotel is located away from the main road and hence allowed a quiet and peaceful sleep. The breakfast is very good with a good spread and we cannot expect something better. The facilities is something I really don't have time to explore but look fairly good. Most of the staffs can communicate in English and it really help in the normal communication. However the room I am staying the Air Condition is a bit noisy even with the fan at the lowest speed. I would certainly stay there in the future and would also recommend friends to stay there.

Royal Park is a great place to visit if you are looking for great food and a place to relax in wildly busy Dhaka. The food there is top class and if you love Sri Lankan food it is the go-to place in Dhaka. I love how the food is done and served . The Chef ( Rajeeva) @Royal Park does magic with food and my self including my son, daughter and hubby are frequent visitors. The food is freshly made and there has not been a single day that we have returned home disappointed. The Sri Lankan and international buffet night is definitely a highlight for people like me residing in Dhaka . We recently celebrated our daughter's birthday in Royal Park with just family members and Chef Rajeeva and staff made the simple evening memorable for my daughter.

Everything is fine except two things, one may not be under your area which is Wine / Liquor is necessary for us who comes from outside Bangladesh or at least there should be service to get. Second the Washroom door is not very ideal as far as the washroom door is concerned. There has to be a privacy on washroom door as its not always for honeymoon couple. We go for business so there are guests meeting so its highly needed.

Hotel: 'Ascott Palace' Check in: 01 Oct 2020 Check out: 07 Oct 2020 Room no.: 410 I'm satisfied to stay in 'Ascott Palace'. Their room decoration & other service such as front desk, IT support are fantastic, Laundry service is very smart, Restaurant facility is impressive & unparallel. My hotel time was quite joyful for the cooperative spirit of the hotel authorities and the service team. I have enjoyed the restaurant service these days. Restaurant Supervisor Sonia's skills, service attitude, ability to understand customer needs are all to be appreciated. Those who serve food at room especially Sizar & Masud is professional, well-behaved and polite person. The chef is always behind our eyes and so their names always remain unknown. I have been demanding a lot of food this week and the chef has tried to give them the best quality. Not to mention a lunch for example: I ordered 'Kala bhuna' on 06 October, 2020.The food was so tasteful that I wanted to know in my own interest who cooked it. And came to know that Chief was Mr. Ananda. Special thanks to him. At a glance Restaurant review: Food quality: 10/10 Taste: 8/10 Service led time: 10/10 Restaurant support: 10/10 Chef: 10/10 Now let's talk about room & laundry service. At this critical time the decision to provide two laundry service complimentary was timely. Service quality: 10/10 Cordiality: 10/10 Service time: 10/10 Service person behavior: 10/10. Front desk also supportive & meet the expectation as I could recall them with their voice i.e., Mr. Mahbub, Nipun & Ms Jannat. Front desk service: 10/10 Cordiality: 10/10 Service time: 10/10 Service person behavior: 10/10.

I stayed here for 4 days until an unfortunate incident occurred where my coworker and I discovered money had been stolen from our rooms. We believe it happened on the first night, since we arrived around 1 am in the morning after a long, exhausting flight from the US to Bangladesh. We were so tired we fell asleep without locking up our valuables. Several days later we noticed we were missing money when we calculated our expenses and counted how much money we had left. $60 had been taken from my wallet, while my colleague was missing about $100. Whoever did it was smart because instead of taking all the money, he/she took about half so that we didn't immediately realize something was wrong. This was disappointing of course, but what angered us was the lack of action from the hotel management. While they sat down with us in the lobby to find out what happened, their tone was extremely condescending the entire time and it was clear they didn't believe us. They kept asking the same questions over and over again, such as why we didn't notice the money was missing sooner (as if this was somehow our fault). We knew the money could only have been stolen from the hotel, since during the day our bags/wallets were with us the entire time in the office. They said they would look into the matter, and apologized 'for what we think happened.' It was apparent they didn't have any interest in finding the culprit. Feeling unsafe since we believe the thief entered our rooms while we were sleeping, we switched hotels the same day we discovered the theft. I would not recommend staying here. Besides the lack of security and poor management, the hotel's location within the Baridhara diplomatic zone means it can take quite a long time to get anywhere that's located outside the diplomatic zone, due to Dhaka's horrible traffic. The Wi-fi is slow and cuts out often, and the rooms are old and basic, but clean. The bathroom has a shower/bathtub combo. The bed is like sleeping on a hard piece of wood. On the plus side, they have excellent chicken reshmi kebabs in the restaurant, affordable and decent in-room dining, and the majority of the hotel staff were very friendly. The breakfast buffet is acceptable, and they will pack some food for you to takeaway if you ask. I stayed here previously in 2016 and had no issues other than the poor internet and uncomfortable bed. But after the problems during my most recent stay and the poor response by hotel management, I would hesitate to stay here again.
