Kyukamura Iwate-Amiharionsen is a Japanese style resort which I stayed at as part of a ski tour. Japanese style bedrooms were available with futons but I chose a western style bedroom. The room was comfortable, had a toilet, was clean and warm but had no shower or bath as this part of the hotel apparently has an Onsen which doubles as the communal bathing facility. While I quite enjoyed this aspect of my stay and it complemented my daily activities in that I enjoyed the hot soak, it was a little annoying as I also like a quick shower in the morning. Still, it was only for a few days. Breakfast and dinner was buffet style and surprisingly extensive, with many "japanese" options as well as more recognisably western options. All in all I thought the meals offered were as enjoyable as any I've had at any hotel, and certainly filling and tasty. Wifi was good but it became clear to me after failing to connect to the internet with either my phone or my laptop, that the hotel's router needed to be rebooted. For entertainment try to explain to non-english speaking Japanese reception staff that their wifi router needs to be re-set. In the end it happened and the wifi worked properly. I realised that the Google translation app would have been perfect for this situation with me typing my comments and being translated onto the screen. the only problem would have been that it needed internet access for the actual translation by Google servers. Either that or switch on international data roaming.... All in all this hotel was c and I would happily stay again. I understand that in summer this is a very pretty part of Japan so if you are contemplating a visit to this region this hotel would be a good choice

This hotel was amazing. The Onsen was just beautiful and having the indoor and outdoor options was great. An incredible buffet breakfast and a traditional room. Could not fault this hotel. The lobby is beautiful and every detail is thought of. We had an 8 course Japanese dinner which was so divine words cannot do it justice.

~ i stayed in late Feb/early March 2019, the price of room is surprisingly affordable (28200 per room for 3 nights, room only) ~ everyday, in the hotel there are 2 restaurants opened, one is the room hall for buffet breakfast and dinner ( reasonably wide variety of food, around 5 dishes of western style, 5-8 dishes of local special, 8 of other typical Japanese food, every night there will be roast/pan fried beef, crab legs, around 4500yen per head) ~ the western restaurant on the ground floor (1/f in japan style) is a very high quality one in terms of both food and service. they serve 2 sets (no a la carte in my stay), one have more food than another, price is ~6400 to 8400yen which is extremely money for value and a must try. ~ there is 2 small restaurants in ticket counter and the hill, so food have a bit more variety than similar stalls in other japanese ski resorts and the food are very delicious. ~ in weekends and holiday, the bistro which is next to the carpark (a metal hut) would open. we have not tried as we left in weekend, but that provide one more choice. ~ in weekend there is japanese style sobert served free of charge at the rental area. ~ the toilet paper is much thinker than the normal thin paper-felt toilet paper, which reflect the basic quality of the hotel ~ i stayed in the most basic room, space is just made for two person with luggages and ski bags ~ a real ski in ski out hotel, one only have to walk 10 steps to the ropeway/ticket station ~ shuttle bus schedule is not very frequent but sufficient for those without car (just like us) ~ the gorcery/gift stalls has a LOT of stuff and food to buy ~ one can book cat ski tour for ungroomed skiing in weekends on the slope previoudly hosting FIS race (3000yen) ~ sees also has night tour by cat car to watch stars ~ a 500yen cash coupon for no clean up service per 2 days, which csn be used even to pay in restaurants

There were two sets of onsens on two different floors and they both had decent size indoor and outdoor baths, though I was there at an offpeak period and they might've been quite packed otherwise. The Japanese-style room was a good size and clean. I got dinner and breakfast with my stay. Dinner - a set course meal - was excellent. Breakfast was buffet-style and in a large hall and wasn't exceptional. There is a shuttle bus to and fro Morioka Station.

Very exquisite Japanese-style hotel, but the transportation is not convenient enough. There is no shuttle bus. It seems that there is a shuttle bus from the intersection bus stop to the hotel. It takes 30 minutes to take the bus to Morioka Station. The taxi to JR Morioka Station is about 4500 yen.
