In addition to the price is not cheap, the other are very satisfied, located in the city of San Francisco, near the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco, nearby Japanese restaurants and Japanese supermarkets are very convenient, taste is also very satisfied. The hotel's service attitude, environmental facilities and sanitary conditions are very satisfactory, and the facilities in the room are well equipped. Parking if parking in the downstairs of the hotel is $29 a night. I chose to stop at 8:00 pm on the second side of the street at the intersection above the hotel. There is an additional charge of USD 27 for other services per day.

We stayed here for 3 nights on our first trip to San Francisco. The location was central and we could walk to a number of excellent restaurants. A complimentary driver service was available in the morning which was a huge plus to start our day stress free. Buffet breakfast was included and while there was lots of choice for my husband, there was not a lot for me being gluten free. You are staying here knowing that it is an old period hotel so don't expect all the mod cons. Our room was pleasant and a good size however the heater didn't work - when we advised reception of this we were offered a change of room or a stand alone heater which is what we chose. We enjoyed our stay here - San Francisco is very expensive for accommodation and the Queen Anne is excellent value for its location, service and charm.

The hotel was well located for most things and staff very pleasant and courteous. The hotel itself is quite interesting and has some history attached to it. We were in a party of 4 and this was our first stop at the beginning of a tour around California. We were quite impressed with the main reception area and the bar area adjacent which seemed to ooze character. We were very disappointed with the room allocated to us which seemed well used and poorly furnished. The other two in our party were allocated a far better room than we had, however we all paid the same. The complementary coffee pods needed to be requested at reception every day as the service staff seemed not to bother replenishing this daily. On one occasion I was asked if I wanted to come down to reception to pick up the coffee (6.30am) We had a table-top fridge perched on a table adjacent to our bed which had to be unplugged each evening before retiring to bed due to the noise. The bed was, however quite comfortable but it was so high off the floor you almost needed a boarding ladder to climb in. The bathroom was tired and previous attempts to give it a make-over seemed poorly done, and having consideration for the environment the wash hand basin did not hold water. Doesn't make any sense of their promotion towards the environment as displayed on the laundry cards. (Some basic Maintenance) Especially when California suffers drought. After reading some of the other reviews it is almost as if we have been staying in another hotel! We only stayed there for three nights as we were moving on but think we would have had a different outlook on our stay if we hadn't been stuck in a poor room.

In a world of trendy hotels and Airbnbs, I was a bit skeptical that a bed and breakfast might be... shall we say... sketchy... dirty? This place stole my heart. It is a charming Victorian located ONE BLOCK from the Painted Ladies. If you walk one direction, you get to Hayes Valley/Civic Center BART. If you walk in the opposite direction, you get to NOPA. If you walk in yet another direction, you get to Lower Pac Heights/Japantown. And if you're up for a lot of walking, you get to the Valencia St/Mission. The interior of the bed and breakfast itself is not fancy, but for my mom and my San Francisco staycation, all we needed was a clean, quiet place to sleep in a safe neighborhood. They offer a continental breakfast which is modest, but the coffee is from Bicycle and the pastries are from Jane, so everything is high quality. The staff is very nice and accommodating. They let us store our valuable luggage behind the front desk when we checked out of our room, but weren't leaving till later in the day. My mom's wedding anniversary is in a month and she's thinking of taking another staycation with my dad at The Grove Inn. If you want to truly experience a San Francisco hilly neighborhood full of Victorian homes, stay at The Grove Inn.

If you are looking for a beautifully restored Victorian mansion with luxurious accommodations, attentive service and generous amenities look no further. The Mansion on Sutter exceeded all expectations. The interior is adorned with fine art pieces worth exploring. The daily breakfast includes a delicious routing menu including freshly baked pastries. I am a critical traveler and found no fault with this hotel. Mansion on Sutter truly excels at every level.

1. The Ugly: It should be noted that the only reason I rate this place 3.5/5 is because of the location. In one hand, it is only 20' by foot away from the Union Square, meaning super convenient and there are shops and restaurants around. HOWEVER, it is also located at the border of the Tenderloin, the most notorious neighborhood of SF full of homeless and drug addicts, and urine (yuck). I would recommend people to take a detour (Either bus or walking) so that you dont have to go across the Tenderloin to get to the Union Square 2. The Good: Friendly and supportive staff. Daily janitor kept the room clean. Room of decent size, well-furnished, not new but not too old. The common zone is quite beautiful with a garden and seats outside. In a nutshell: I would still recommend this place as a place to stay in SF, since its price is reasonable and close to U.S just be cautious of the Tenderloin area and avoid making eye-contact with suspicious people as much as possible. The first day we walked across the area and it was the most horrible experience of my life so far

When I checked in the young lady seemed friendly although really emphasised the “no parties” aspect even though I was on my own. I was on the third floor and had a huge case because I’d been travelling for three months. There’s no lift and was advised to take items out of my case and do multiple trips. I’m not carrying my clothes up three flights of stairs in portions. The stairway, corridor and hallways are dirty and have marks all on the walls (guessing from people hauling their case). I got to the room and it smelled BADLY of urine, after a check round the bathroom was dirty. Also not as bad of an issue but the windows are single pane and the street is extremely noisy, but usually I don’t mind this if it’s alone. The TV has near no signal with few channels and set to Spanish? I absolutely never complain and have never tried to leave a hotel without staying but I went down and said I’d like to leave and try somewhere else. I was told it was non refundable and could be shown a different room. She said the smell was the new furniture? But the furniture definitely didn’t look new and the smell was not furniture. Also, she was livid. Absolutely furious. The next rooms bathroom was at least clean so out of pure awkwardness of this girl being rude and refusing a refund I said it was fine. On leaving for dinner I said goodbye at the front desk and she ignored me. However, on staying there was another older lady on reception and a young boy who were both very pleasant and helpful. And they’re the reason the scoring isn’t lower than it is which I believe it should be.

My wife and I stayed here 5 nites and was quite pleased. It is located in a wonderful neighborhood so close to the bustling activities of Union, Fillmore, Lombard areas. The building is an older Victorian style but well maintained and so quiet. Our room 8 was located on 3rd floor (no elevator) was good size with couch, queen bed and small sitting area. Only complaint was mattress was too soft and in need of replacement. Bathroom was clean Shower had good pressure. Furniture a bit old but no issue. Breakfast was continental: coffee, muffins, cereals, fruit, toast. A refrigerator was available to store your cold drinks. All in all a good stay save for the too soft mattress. For SF, a good value at $250 per night. Reception was quite friendly and afternoon tea was also available. I would recommend Jackson Court.

My husband and I planned a 5-day holiday trip to San Francisco and we wanted to select a hotel within the Marriott family that was well-located with a private parking lot. We chose the Downtown Courtyard Marriott on Van Ness and it far exceeded our expectations! The historic characteristics of the building was wonderful and we were pleased that it had retained its charm when it was recently transitioned into the Marriott family of hotels. We loved our room (#525) as it was near the end of the hall yet not too far from the elevator and close to a closeted ice machine. The room was quiet and we could not hear much street noise even though we were in the heart of the bustling City of San Francisco. There was a long easy to draw curtain that cut out the light for quality sleep. The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful when we had questions. The hotel rooms were very clean with elegant crown molding, a long window seat and a renovated bathroom with attractive glass tiles in the spacious shower. The original historic closet was deep and held a lot of luggage and clothing. The full-service restaurant located just downstairs, Mel’s Kitchen, was open until 11 pm. It was a fantastic addition to a Courtyard Marriott and we dined there several times and also brought their tasty food to our room. The gated and secured parking lot was wonderful and safe and the parking valets were very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for a great stay in San Francisco!

Surprisingly good. Spent four nights at the Inn and was very happy with it. I am wary of anything labelled vintage or rustic, and shared bathroom is a definite No. But, I was a bit desperate as I was unexpectedly able to travel to San Francisco for Hardly Strictly, and needed a room that wouldn't break the bank. After much contemplation, I settled on Hayes Valley Inn, and had no regrets. Based on the description, I was expecting more of a bed and breakfast establishment, maybe sharing a bathroom with a couple other rooms. Turns out each floor (about 11 rooms) share two water closets and one tub/shower. This turned out not to be a big deal- everything is clean, and while the shower gets busy in the AM, if you are in a hurry or on a timeline, shower the night before. Rooms contain a sink. My room was 207, a corner room on the second floor, and it was great- roomy with a wonderful bed- with the exception of street noise. First night I was awakened every twenty minutes or so until 2 or 3 AM. I would highly recommend ear plugs, which I purchased for the next three nights. They helped, but the only thing that will make a difference is an investment in better windows. I was still awake three or more times each night- garbage trucks, ambulances, boys with testosterone, and loud folks leaving restaurants- but it is the big city. The self-serve breakfasts were adequate to start the day- coffee was good.. The Italian restaurant kitty-corner was great- ate there twice, and there is a burger shack around the corner that was good. Bus stop around the corner made daily travel to Golden Gate Park a breeze. Reasonable daily rate, all things considered. Desk staff was unobtrusive, to be kind. Did schedule a shuttle for me. If you really need your privacy, make a different choice. I was very satisfied.

I chose this hotel because I always try to book the hotels in the IHG group. We was upgraded to the best suite on the 26th floor spectacular views, massive bedroom with separate lounge kitchen and bathroom. Very clean all round. Beds are as always incredibly comfortable, service very friendly breakfast on ground floor pricy for the standard American buffet, Menu did not mention that you could have continental breakfast for $15.00 full buffet was $21:00 so the $6.00 extra for Eggs bacon sausage. Coffee was good. The waiters only gave us coffee did nothing els all the rest we had to do, so reluctant to give a tip but gave a small $3.00 tip that’s all it’s worth. So the waiters at breakfast need training in customer service by offering a better service, however that said the bell boy was fantastic, took his time to explain all the details and helped us a great deal explaining how we get around walking to the square. The main question is: Would I recommend this hotel, ABSOLUTELY YES, price and value for the rooms very good, breakfast is good but pricy.

From Seattle to Vancouver by car, I chose the Hilton Hotel at the first stop. I thought it was good in China, but I did n’t expect it to be a nightmare. Two large bed rooms were booked at Ctrip, but the front desk gave me an ultra-small room, and beside the elevator, this check-in felt like being next to the runway of an airplane, and I couldn't sleep at all. Negotiating with the hotel was useless. Negotiating with Ctrip. The hotel responded that the room was full and there was no way to change the room. I wonder if the hotel ca n’t sleep in this room?

We made our yearly trek to the Nikko in mid October. Obviously with the pandemic, things were markedly different. Our first clue was landing at Oakland Airport, when we got off the plane it was like a ghost town. BART was less crowded, but there is a bit more riff/raff on the train than normal. When we arrived at the hotel, we entered through the garage, as the front entry was boarded up. Check in was easy as always and we had a wonderful room. They were very much in "Covid prevention" mode with only 2 people (unless same group) in the elevator, everyone was masked up. Rooms were impeccably clean and you let them know when you wanted housekeeping, and you had to be out of the room for them to take care of that. There were very few guests in the hotel and I think we had the whole floor to ourselves. The Imperial Club lounge is closed temporarily, and you could use the workout room for a nominal fee. The restaurant was closed Sun/Mon/Tues and open for dinner the other nights. It was very surreal to be in the restaurant with so few guests, but the food was outstanding as well as the service. Dominique was awesome. They do have a food truck and we were able to sample one of the items and it was also great. We look forward to our visit next year and hopefully the world will be back to a more normal state.

The male staff in the evening shift is very friendly, very patient, always smiling, and the service is very good! It rained outside and I also borrowed an umbrella for me. The room was great, my room was on the top floor, there was a balcony in the room and the bed was very comfortable! The location is very good, just in the city center, to various attractions, shopping and shopping, the surrounding restaurants are very convenient, it should be the best hotel I have ever stayed on this trip! The front desk staff (Ben & Daimler) greeted me with HUGE smiles after a long flight. They offered me a much needed quiet room and even upgraded me to a beautiful suite. Complimentary wine tasting was going on in the lobby with live music. My room was beautiful and very clean. After unpacking, I realized I forgot toothpaste. I went downstairs on my way to dinner and asked the front desk if they had any extras, they brought it to my room along with an extra toothbrush while I was gone (amazing!). Great location. Walkable to so many restaurants. Will definitely stay again.

Extended Weekend visit to the city for pleasure. Mini vacay. 2/10/2020 Breakfast at the Cafe. - Morning shift Cafe hostess/cashier was very competent with a little bit of attitude. Attitude changed when it was tip time. :-) - Food was great 2/10/2020 Evening at the Cafe - Hostess / Cashier was super helpful and pleasant. - Needed to heat up some leftover pizza and she was happy to accommodate by heating up in the toaster over. Waaay better than microwaved. Rooms were very nice. - We were assigned an ADA room - Minimal counter space in the bathroom as a result. All good. - Bed was a bit on the hard side. Sore back after a couple of night. - Room doors slam shut. Would be nice to have anti-slam devices installed. We lived through it. Added a towel to the door when closing and minimized door rattle when neighbor doors were shut and softened the slam when we closed our own door. Overall: Excellent stay with super helpful and cheerful staff. Thank you!
