A few friends and I had the opportunity to stay one night at this beautiful place. From the moment we stepped in we were all mesmerised by the views it offered. The rooms all colour coded were comfortably furnished. One room upstairs had the luxury of a spacious balcony overlooking the bay. The highlight of the place is the patio with overhanging creepers with a stunning view of the bay and the Galle city in the distance. A short walk down takes you to the famous Jungle Beach with a sandy coves and shady trees. The staff was extremely courteous and attended to our every need with a smile. We had a super dinner of prawns, calamary and baked fish with roasted potatoes and corn cobs and a typical Sri Lankan breakfast of string hoppers, spicy pol sambol and chicken curry. A quick visit to the sea and then lazed in the pool followed by Lunch which was a super crab curry with rice and accompaniments. One night was too short to stay and have plans to visit again for more. All in all it was a superb break and a welcome de-stress for us all.

A lovely relaxing place to end our 3 weeks travels around Sri Lanka. Everywhere we have been we have been welcomed so warmly by the wonderful people. Shanti, Kumara and the rest of the team here were no exception. We had a suite on the top floor which was huge with amazing views across the bay toward Galle Fort. It was my husband’s birthday when we were there and they made him a lovely cake which was a real surprise, we didn’t even mention it, they had noticed the date on his passport at check in, a really nice touch! It’s a great location, we didn’t want to stay in Unawatuna as it’s quite busy but you can walk there along a track which takes about 30 minutes or take a tuk tuk for 500 rupees. Jungle beach is only a few minutes walk away. Galle Fort is really pretty and easy to reach, only 15 mins in a tuk tuk. Lots of little shops, a market and a great ice cream shop. The food at levels is excellent, the Nasi Goreng for dinner was huge and very tasty. Breakfast was really yummy, a fresh fruit platter which even included fresh lychees and the poached eggs and avacado on toast were delicious, all served with a smile from the lovely Shanti! Levels is a really great place and we felt very good value but probably now just needs a little bit of TLC, it wouldn’t need much but a lick of paint here and there, repairing tiles on the pool, a bit more attention in general would give it 5 stars. Thank you everyone for a great end to our holiday and thank you again for the amazing cake!

Where do I start?? From my initial contact with reservations, the manager- Sydney, took me through all my options and communicated with me regularly, answering even the mundane of questions. On our arrival Sydney was there to greet us, travelling down from Colombo to ensure he planned his trip accordingly so he could meet us. When Sydney left, the resort manager, Chandana took their service to the next level!! He was always there to assist us and is brilliant gent! Even my teenage kids commented on how nice he was!! 😊😊 The Restuarant staff, in particular Colvin was just fabulous! Nothing was too hard for him to cater for the 6 of us, always making sure the kids were looked after and was happy with their food selections. He even took food to our room for one of the kids - amazing! Chandana and Colvin pulled of a surprise on my birthday that had me blindsided with a cake and a fine rendition of Happy Birthday 😊😊 We stayed in one of the Duplex Units - which was fantastic for a family of 6! Rooms were extremely clean and more importantly the bathrooms (there’s two) were also well looked after. The room also had a spa!! The food was just fantastic and as they didn’t have a buffet during the week, nothing was too hard for the chefs to prepare - from prawn curry to seafood platters to BLT toasted sandwiches. The kids loved the variety, taste and portion sizes. Breakfasts were a treat too!! For me celebrating a milestone birthday, I couldn’t have asked for a better place and awesome hosts to help me celebrate with my family!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 From the games room to the rocky beach front we enjoyed everything this fantastic place has to offer! For a little adventure you must check out the blowhole in the rocks to the right of the beach front 👍🏽👍🏽 I highly recommend Thaproban Pavilion Waves Unuwatuna- this place is a must if your visiting southern Sri Lanka!!

This small hotel surpassed all our expectations. Our room on the top floor had the most amazing uninterrupted views over the bay to Galle and down to Jungle beach. We had double deluxe room which had a very private balcony with those amazing views and a perfect sunset every night. Rooftop infinity pool and restaurant with the same amazing views. Troops of Macaque monkeys roaming the jungle canopy just below your rooms are a delight to watch, they stop by at breakfast time hoping for a treat or two. Probably our over riding memory of this hotel will be the staff. Unfortunately my wife had to spend two nights in a local hospital (nothing to do with hotel I might add) and the staff were amazing, especially the lead receptionist Gayanthri and the Hotel manager Udaya. They both went above and beyond the call of duty to help us in a distressing time. We really don't know how we would have coped without their help, compassion and understanding in our hour of need. Also big shout out to two local tuc tuc drivers that the Hotel use, Dilshan and Madush who were very kind and understanding. Ask for either of these guys when the Hotel calls for a tuc tuc for you, they're good guys. If you're considering this Hotel then consider no more, just book it, it's amazing.

We stayed at Thaproban Pavilion Resort and Spa for three nights and could not fault it !!!! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect and we can’t wait to come back. The facilities and room was very beautiful with very comfortable bed and pillows. We arrived on Valentine’s Day and thought we had missed out in the special set menu dining experience but then staff arranged a beautiful A La Carte menu on the private beach among the other diners. The table was beautifully set up and the food was incredible. The buffet breakfast is great! High quality. Best Dalh and Egg Hoppers we have had in Sri Lanka over the past 2 weeks. Both pools are great and face some awesome rocks. Location is private and quiet. Rooftop bar is a fantastic place to watch the sunset. We already cannot wait to come back !!!! Much love from Australians Alex and Sarah ! Xxxxxx

The Thambapanni Retreat is set in a beautiful lush tropical garden, with birds, monkeys and butterflies all around. Our room was beautifully decorated in a rustic style, with bold colours, a four poster bed and a cement floor inlaid with brass flowers and wooden beams, very unique! The staff here are extremely welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. True Srilankan hospitality! The restaurant in the retreat was a real surprise! The food prepared by Chef Muditha was without doubt the best we’ve had in the two weeks in Sri Lanka. We tried the prawn curry, crab curry and the grilled calamari and prawns, all served with dahl, banana flower curry, pumpkin curry and green bean curry. Absolutely delicious, all cooked with different spices, yet the flavours complemented each other perfectly. And the price was the same as most of the restaurants in the town. This will be our number one choice when we come back to Unawatuna!

We stayed here for 2 nights in a deluxe double room and we loved it. Lovely spacious room and huge balcony. The staff were lovely and friendly and very accommodating. The hotel itself is close to the beach and main restaurants so it's easy to get around by foot or there is an option to rent a scooter from the hotel. A great find!

Right by the sea, the beach is beautiful, and the scenery is beautiful at night. Unfortunately, there is no sunrise in the rainy season. Children do not need to add money. The locals are very welcoming. Unfortunately, the pool is a bit far, but the hotel front desk will help you call tuti to take you go with

We are a family of 4 (two adults and two children) who stayed here for 3 nights in Jan 2020. We stayed in the deluxe ocean view rooms and they had incredible views from the balcony. We had read the reviews about seeing turtles from the bedroom and the views didn't disappoint. We were able to sit on the balcony and watch turtles bobbing up and down in the ocean which was an unforgettable sight. The rooms were clean and beds were huge. Breakfast was nice and varied. It is great to have the option to sit outside and eat breakfast on the terrace which overlooks the ocean. The staff were very well mannered and friendly. We had the opportunity to meet the owner who was also very kind to us. The hotel is on the beach and sunbeds/towels were provided. You're able to have a beautiful walk along the stretch of beach. Overall, the hotel is an equivalent of a 4/5* and this was reflected in the price we paid.

A resort with daily morning yoga sessions for starters, the beachside location is key. Another huge plus is the excellent breakfast buffet with fresh cut fruits, your choice of eggs, local Sri Lankan options and more. Rooms are sizable and clean with the ocean just a few steps away. Shops and restaurants are all within walking distance, and tuk-tuks are readily available to transport you to Galle and other nearby areas. The only issue I had was really with the third party booking service that failed to communicate properly with the hotel when we needed to modify our stay.

I booked in here for 3 nights, but ended up staying 6. It is a beautiful tranquil oasis, only a few minutes walk from the beach or the busy main road, but it feels like being in a nature reserve. I spent hours in the gardens or on my balcony enjoying watching the birds, and other assorted wildlife. The monkey providing hours of entertainment! I would strongly recommend having breakfast - it was amazing, so much choice and so tasty. I had something different every day. The room was comfortable , spotless and cleaned every day. The owner was friendly and helpful and the staff were all lovely. A special mention for the manager, Dhanushka, who is a real credit to the place. So helpful, polite and interesting to talk to. One of the loveliest places I’ve ever stayed, I would choose it over a high end luxury hotel any day
