Our party of four had two rooms on the third floor facing over Takayama. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable with adequate storage etc. and were spacious. The beds were quite firm, but still a comfortable night's sleep. The bathroom is quite small, which wasn't a particular problem. The very high step into the bathroom was the problem. Easy to fall down it, on a middle of the night bathroom visit. Some people with mobility problems might well struggle to get in and out of the bathroom. The hotel provides Japanese style pyjamas for visits to the onsite onsen. We used the onsen both nights we stayed at the hotel, and found it very relaxing experience. The water is not from a natural spring though. The hotel is a distance from town, so you would need to utilise the shuttle bus service. We found that this was very handy and had no problems fitting in with the schedule. We ate at the hotel for the first night after a late-ish arrival, and found the buffet dinner quite adequate, although food is not kept particularly hot. The buffet breakfasts were also enough to keep us going for the morning. Overall, we had no problems with the hotel. It was the best place we could find when we booked.

We traveled with Gate 1 group so we didn't pick the resort, the location is outside of the city but it didn't create any inconvienance for us since we had our tour bus. The resort was a little complicated to get around, if you like to experience the onsen bath (who would miss it anyway?) a long walk from your room and you have to change the elavator. The day we arrived, they did the check-in on the bus, which is quite efficient, but did have to waite for a while (15-20 minutes) for the elevator since one is not working. The room was comfortable, clean, and nice size with a good view of the town. The yukata was provided for the onsen bath. Diner wasn't provided by Gate 1, but we have some local delicacies brought back from town, it took care of it. You can make tea or coffee in the room. Breakfast was edequate and delicious, mostly Japanese style. The courtyard and the decoration are quite zen and pretty. The staff was very friendly. Overall it was a very refreshing stay.

Myself and 2 other friends stayed here for one night. The staff were lovely and helpful on arrival and gave us everything we needed for our stay. The building itself is very traditional with some parts verging on old but that’s kind of what we were looking for anyway! The room was big and came with facilities for making hot water, a fridge and cold water jugs as well as a towel, socks, kimono and toothbrush per person. I had one of the worst nights sleep of my life here though, which was largely down to 3 things: 1) our inability to find a light switch meaning we were sleeping in the dark (we switched off the main light but the side lights are hard to find switches for but we’re in a cupboard). 2) my friend snoring like a trooper all night 3) the rooms temperature fluctuating from freezing to boiling every few minutes, no idea why this was. [because 2 of these things were essentially our fault, I haven’t let this affect our review] We used the Onsen which was a fun experience. Although I was unsure about their stances on tattoos, I kept mine covered at all times while in Takayama and therefore didn’t have any issues at all (although it didn’t seem like anyone cared as there weren’t any signs or anything there)

We booked double private room. Bathroom and shower were always prefectly cleaned! The room comfortable. They have also a washer and dryer machine... Really usefull! The staff were so kind polite and helpful! The guest house is a little bit far from the center but if you walk not on the main roads the walking path could be also enjoyable. Top:the tables outside! We spent evening outside enjoying the quiet and calm of the night. We suggest it!

Living in this hotel, the room rate is the lowest in the hotel, but also the oldest facilities. The room wasn't too small, and it was no problem to put down two 28-inch suitcases. Hygiene is okay, but the beds are stiff and the quality of pillow quilts is average. The toilet is relatively small in integration. The open-air bath is very good. It is a natural hot spring. There is also a very large specialty shop in the hall. There is a shuttle bus to and from the train station every day. If you don't have luggage, you can walk to the train station in ten minutes.

We are a family of three during the May Day period. Stayed for one night, the price is not cheap, more than 900. After all, it is somewhat inconvenient to have no separate bathroom. It is 2 km from Takayama Eki bus stop and at least 40 minutes walk. On the first night, the family of three went down quickly and crashed. The next day, they came out to take a taxi. But the room was very clean. Japanese-style tatami style, there is a small pool of hot springs, anyway, it feels like it. I can see the snowy mountains by pushing open the window. This is very good. The bathroom in the room is super clean. The service is not bad. The breakfast was also great. It is good to provide a pick-up.

The FAV HOTEL TAKAYAMA was recently opened in 2020, making it a fantastic choice for those staying in Takayama. Famous local attractions Chanoyu no Mori, Hida Soja and Isite Takayama, can all be reached with a short walk. This hotel makes a great place to kick back and relax after a long day of sightseeing.

It was a great hotel. ① The bed, pillows and futons were comfortable and I could sleep soundly like a lie. ② The facility is really new and clean. The design based on wood is also wonderful. ③ For breakfast, corona measures have been devised, side dishes are set for each person in the lunch box, and rice, miso soup, bread, natto, salad, etc. are taken with vinyl gloves by a buffet method. The taste and volume were great. ④ There was an all-you-can-drink lounge for 1320 yen on the same 7th floor as the large communal bath. I didn't use it because I was alone with two children, but it was a nice lounge with an atmosphere that adults would want to use. ⑤ I felt that walking to the old town was just right for me, but I was tired of walking and returned by taxi. The distance is the distance that you can return with the basic taxi fare. ⑥ Samue for adults and children can be rented. Unlike yukata, it is comfortable and comfortable to spend. I definitely want to use it when I come to Takayama.

Hotel Acty is a very short distance from Takayama Station. It is easy to see as it's name on a board above the hotel. The outside is tired looking, and the rooms could do with refurbishment, but it is clean and friendly. There are segregated onsens on the 6th floor (which both my husband and I used). They are old, and some of the tiles have stains around them, but I believe the baths are clean. A very relaxing start to the day. There are two breakfasts provided in the restaurant- Western and Japanese. I tried both, and they were good. One drawback was that I could hear the shower in the next room when I was in my bed. We also could not find a safe in our room, but did not ask reception. Not the Hilton, but comfortable. Note- presently on the train front Takayama to Nagoya and the scenery is stunning!

Location was great, just 7mins walk from the train or Nohbi bus station. Next door - Mcdonalds, supermarket only 2 blocks away. 15mins walk to the Takayama walking street. The rooms are clean and tidy. Happy hours from 6-8pm at the pantry with 01free drinks and nuts is another plus. Only setback is the public bath, a little too small, only 5 bathing tap.

We stayed in Best Western for 1 night. It is decent and cosy. We came to the hotel late at night and headed to Toyama in the next afternoon. The hotel is a very good choice to us in terms of the breakfast (food in good quality and variety) and location (it is just 5 min from the train station and within 15 min walking distance to the morning market and the most popular tourist shopping area, and another 10 - 15 min to a number of tourist spots). The things that improvement is required are: 1) the design of the bath room which has 2 glass walls. As the curtain cannot be fully closed, a person can see inside from the corner of the glass walls; and 2) the mattress is a bit soft without sufficient support to my back.

Good- Walking distance from the JR train station to the hotel, friendly staff, ramen will be provided between 10:30pm-11:30pm, both private and public onsens are available [suggestion to use private onsen during morning time due to less occupancy], breakfast is tasty and has many choices, room is spacious and clean. Bad- Strong shoes smell at shoe storage area, AIR CONDITION in the Room COULD NOT be switched to cooling mode when we stayed during winter time [we opened the window to draw in some cooling air into our warm room], AIR CONDITION temperature and other settings can only be configured by the officer at lobby [inconvenient], room looks slightly old [may require to upgrade it since the room rate is quite pricey], bathroom ventilation strength is very weak, the check-in process was long due to poor english language spoken by the officer. Note: There's one officer who could speak better english language at the front desk. Travelers are strongly advised to look for the RIGHT officer if you do not want to spare so much time on the check-in process.

The location of the hotel is very good, right in the middle of the old town and the station. Room facilities are very new, you can take soup service, the staff is very comfortable, children will also be given a gift package, which includes children's toothbrushes and slippers. The heating in the room is sufficient. The room may be small. The outside temperature is minus five degrees.     The room is really small, only one person can turn around, and two people cannot turn around side by side. A 1.4-meter large bed with a 1-meter elevated bed on it, the children were crazy, and three people could sleep enough. Another point, the hotels in the whole mountain area seem to use a white cloth as a quilt under the quilt. They ca n’t roll over a lot when they sleep, and the children are missing a few kicks of white cloth at night.     In general, this hotel can be used for less than 2 people, the price is reasonable, the location is good, and the space for 3 people is too small.
