Part of the hotel is a shelter for downtown Richmond? Disgusting place, very unsafe for me and my child to even be in the parking lot surrounded by people asking us for money. Would NOT give us a refund, even though it was so foul. NEVER again will we stay at a Choice hotel, with the lack of consideration from customer service online. Choice should be ashamed.

This hotel gets a mixed review from me, for sure. First of all, this is an older property that has likely been renovated many times over the years. As such, the layout befits an older property, and it doesn't always line up with modern expectations, such as stairs' going directly outside rather than to the lobby. However, that can't really be changed too much without tearing down the facility and building a new one, so I feel as though it would be unfair to ding them over that. Similarly, the elevators were being renovated while we were staying there, and this limited the elevators' capacity, as only one (of two total) was available during our stay. This is a temporary inconvenience and necessary work, so I'm giving them a bye on that work. As far as our room went, I took no issue with it. It was clean, it had adequate lighting, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast service was about what you would expect for a Holiday Inn Express. Nothing too fancy, but not terrible, either. My only complaint was that the warming units that the food sat in continuously made contact with the sneeze guard, which made for a frustrating experience (feeling like you need three hands to serve yourself). That could probably be remedied easily enough if someone cared enough to do it. The parking and access situation, however, was unacceptable. The parking lot is on the back side of the building. This stems from the property's being very old, so I'm not willing to ding them for that on its own, as there is an entrance to the lobby on the parking lot side. However, I will ding them for how access to the parking lot is handled late at night. After 11 PM, the doors facing the parking lot are locked, and there is no access allowed through that door, with all entering and exiting being done via the door next to the front desk. The door to the parking lot also has a sign posted on it when the doors are locked stating as such, and threatening immediate removal from the property should the doors be opened during those hours. That means that in order to access the lot, you have to walk completely around the outside of the building. To add insult to injury, there is a card access box that allows access to be limited to only registered guests, but the doors are locked in such a way as to bypass the card access system. The staff said that this was due to a problem with homeless trying to sleep in the hotel's lobby, but inconveniencing paying guests is no way to do it. All in all, I suppose that this isn't a bad place based on the price and the location, but I'm not inclined to stay again, as the inconveniences outweighed the positives.

Last minute one night stay. In town for kids sports event, decided to book the morning of, rather than drive over 2.5hrs each way home and back again. Simply put - this property should NOT bear the Marriott name. It is disgusting. Period. Rooms are outdated and dirty. Sidewalks are all uneven. Pool is extremely small, more like an over-sized hot tub, with a clearly unmaintained walking area around it. Buildings are clearly old, as if stuck in time from when this apartment-style hotel was in its prime. Not today! Had my entire family with me, so we paid the extra $$ for the two bedroom “penthouse” (as described in the Marriott app), only to find out it is really just an outdated second floor room with a loft and extra bathroom upstairs. Not a big deal, we needed the space. But the notion that this room is a penthouse, is laughable at best. The first room we checked into wreaked of ********* and cigarette smoke. We hadn’t even crossed the door threshold before being greeted by that awful smell. A quick call to the front desk yielded the usual apologies, and we were promptly relocated to another room. We did not stay in the first room long enough to even tell if it was clean. Unfortunately at that point, based on the property being so outdated, and the disgusting smell of first room, our expectation of the next room was pretty low - just don’t stink. While the second room did not smell as bad as the first, it was clearly a room that had previous issues…. The door and door jamb showed clear indications that this room had been broken into, perhaps repeatedly. The door hardware had clearly come off and had been reattached multiple times based on the amount of screw holes. The “safety” latch on the top was so loose that it came off in my hand while I was checking to see how bad it was. When I called the front desk to have it repaired, I was advised that maintenance had departed for the day and it would be addressed in the morning. I ended up using the butter knife from the kitchen to reattach it with the screws - it was actually tighter than it was when we checked in. Since my wife was not completely comfortable with that, we opted to buy a door security bar from Walmart as an extra precaution. It baffles me that Marriott is aware of this condition and has simply chosen to reattach the hardware rather than redo the door frame, and replace the entire door. Aside from the door, the room is simply as outdated as the rest of the property is. The decor is old. The plastic shower hardware is barely holding on. The red chair in the main room has several stains on it. Flipping the seat cushion only revealed more stains. We pushed it into a corner and didn’t use it, not even setting our bags on it. At that point, being as late as it was, we simply just set our mind to minimum expectations and hoped for a decent night of sleep, which we got. Can’t say that the beds were comfortable - they were not; can’t say it was quiet - it was not because the AC sounded

The front desk staff and bistro staff were amazing - helpful, courteous, and quick! Now...onto the hotel itself: This place is NOT up to Marriott standards - I cannot and will not believe it is. Yes the lobby seems updated and modern, but the rest of this hotel is definitely screaming ”1990”. This must've been one of the original Courtyard concepts back in the day OR was an old hotel they bought and slapped a Courtyard sign out front. Rooms are small, dated furniture, and make shift layout (TV to the side of the bed - not in front). This place is a maze...all jokes aside. There is no main lobby elevator/access to the 2nd or 3rd floors. No....you have to walk all the way down a very long hallway, then turn left and walk some more down another hallway, until you come up on the elevator!?! The amount of hotel guests I ran into who were lost (myself included) trying to find the elevator from the lobby and vice versa, should be a clear sign this layout is awful. Room was comfy and quiet (mine faced the rear parking lot) and I had enough towels and all for a 2 day stay for work. Did have a frig - but NO microwave. Last complaint - breakfast. Isn't Marriott membership supposed to give free breakfast? I got a basic (but really tasty) breakfast + Pelligrino = $23???

When checking it, a sign on the entrance stated masks are required. We put on our masks and walked in ( both of us are vaccinated ). The front desk clerk's mask was hanging off her ear but she did put it on when we approached, most likely she heard my wife say ”she's not wearing a mask”. As we were checking in several people passed by coming in, going out and one was checking out, all not wearing a mask. So why bother posting the sign? After receiving our key, going up to the room and opening the door a waft of cigarette odor hit us. We reserved a king non smoking and the clerk acknowledged that as she checked us in. Returning to the front desk, explained the odor, the clerk gave us a new room. This one didn't smell of smoke. I noticed there weren't any bath towels in the room, so as we were walking toward the elevator to go for dinner the desk clerk was coming toward us and asked if that room was better. We stated it didn't smell of smoke, but could someone bring us bath towels. She told us it was just here and could we pick them up on our way back in?? I noticed she was holding a spray bottle and some rags in her hands which I reflected on after we got back from dinner. There's a sign on the mirror stating 'housekeeping available upon request” and that the room has been cleaned with hospital grade disinfectant with special attention to high touch areas. Great! Unfortunately it seemed housekeeping didn't clean all the other areas or the housekeeping is the desk clerk with the spray bottle and rags! The bathroom was disgusting, The toilet rim had urine stains and cigarette ashes, there was hair in the shower and sink. Thank god we had lysol wipes. After traveling we just wanted to settle in. At least the bed was clean and comfortable, except for the pillows. This is the worst hotel room we ever had. If this hotel was in my portfolio I would be embarrassed. We have stayed at several other Choice Hotel brands as we travel to our main destination and by far, this is the worst and doubtful we would ever stay at a Sleep Inn again. For almost $100 the value was horrible, but then again paying anything for this room would not have been a good value.

Passing through Virginia to Baltimore from North Carolina for girls trip weekend with my daughters, granddaughters and sisters. My daughter, granddaughter and I had what is called a one bedroom suite although there is no wall separating the living room area from the two queen beds. The lobby is beautiful and spacious. Front desk staff got us checked in quickly. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Big walk in shower. Bathroom was very clean. Mini fridge and small microwave in room also. Lots of eating places in the area. I will definitely be staying here on our next visit to Virginia. My daughter said the hot and cold breakfast was very good.

We stayed a couple days in this downtown property. It was convenient for our interests. I was a little apprehensive based on its rating, but customer reviews swayed me. We weren't disappointed. The hotel is very clean, recently refurbished throughout, beds comfortable and staff courteous. Hot breakfast is typical microwaved omelettes, toast & cereals in a large uncrowded dining room. Note that housekeeping is not offered on multiple night stays altho fresh towels are available on request. We'd stay here again.

We visit last night, check in was pleasant enough and the rooms were clean. The beds were very uncomfortable and a disappointment for a Marriott brand hotel. We had breakfast at the bistro & they only had one person working & they filled a complicated coffee order before before they made our food. They then forgot part of the order that was for our 4 year old so the adults had their food but she had to wait longer. The food at the bistro was microwaved & wasn’t worth it. On top of it, the website states that pets aren’t welcome yet we saw several people with dogs and we are highly allergic. We won’t be going back and I am a Marriott Member.

this hotel has amazing employees I want to first give a HUGE praise ✨Octavia✨ for her amazing customer service she went above and beyond i called and asked if i was okay where i parked because i had parked on the street the night before which was a weekend where u ddont have to pay and you dont have to worry about the time till the weekdays and the night staff told me i was fine till morning but i forgot to ask when i would have to move it so when i called down in the morning to ask when ot if i had to move my car and octavia answered and she immediately helped me and asked me where my car is and what it looked like so she could step out and make sure it wasnt towed or ticketed and to see if im in a spot that i need move out of because i might get towed which i didnt even have to ask her to do any of that she just immediately dropped everything she was doing to help me even after i told her she really doesnt have to do all that i can come check for myself if it is towed or ticketed but she said she was perfectly fine w helping me and could quickly make sure my car did need to be moved in case it didnt need to be. she insisted it was no problem and she was happy to help so she went out and checked and told me my car was not towed or ticketed and told me that i am in a tow zone and gave me detailed instructions of where the parking garage is so i dont get towed. she truly went above and beyond with helping me, She gave me the most memerable and helpful customer service i have had any where in a very long time and definitely the best hotel front desk customer service but also Michael at the front desk as well was quite helpful and gave me a late check out that an employee the night before said the latest was 2pm but michael made sure i was a memember before informing me how late of check out i can get which im guesss the other employee didnt do because he informed me memembers latest checkouts are at 4pm and he went ahead and fixed that and made me 2 new keycards super promptly and even after i said i only needed one and changed my min when i was about to walk away i asked if i could get another if it wasnt too much to ask and he was so nice and said it was no problem at all and made the second key in seconds no pun intended! so i just want to give a big shout out and thank you to both Octavia and Michael at the Delta front desk (on the morning of october 3rd ) for being so kind patient and helpful it brightened my day and their smiles were infectious💗

The staff was great at this hotel and the breakfast was convenient. The rooms were some of the biggest I’ve ever stayed in although the bathroom area could be much bigger since the space allows. We stayed with extended family for the weekend for a wedding celebration in Richmond. We all agreed that the parking garage felt dark and creepy, but the biggest issue is the elevator situation. There are 2 Hilton hotels sharing the property and elevators. Picking which lobby you want to go to and having to remember which elevator to use to get to your car in the parking lot is a HUGE pain . There was never a time a got into the elevator and the other people in there didn’t complain about it. Not to mention when you get in the elevator, you don’t push any buttons because there aren’t any because you had to figure all that out before you got into it. I know this seems to be something new that other hotels are doing, but since they are both owned by Hilton , why not make it just one name and end it. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again, purely because of this elevator situation. It’s just too much of a hassle, especially if you are on vacation.

This is a very unique location/hotel. Electronics control the building. Elevators are programmed to take you only to the floor you select which you select before getting on the elevator. For a hotel located in the middle of the city, there is very little external noise. The room we had was immaculate. The only minor negative was that the hot water was not as hot as I normally desire.

This is an older property that they’ve tried to keep up to date with moderate success. I’ll start with the Pros: -despite being totally full with teenagers and a wedding, it was quiet and they maintained pretty good order. They had a police detail on scene in the evenings which seemed purely preemptive. Kudos to management for spending on that, a lot of places wouldn’t. -there’s a lot in the immediate area in terms of restaurants, stores, etc. Pretty much every chain you could think of is in the vicinity. -we didn’t use it but there’s a pool with an outdoor area. -the beds were unusually comfortable! Not sure if it was the Sheraton sweet sleeper bed but it stood out. -I requested additional items for our room from housekeeping and they were delivered in a reasonable timeframe and the associates were friendly. Cons: -The biggest one is the old and out of date HVAC. You have two options: blast chiller freezing or stuffy. The AC will go on and off all night and sound like a 1970 school bus doing it. It really bothered my sleep. I was either too cold, too hot, or it was really noisy to the point of repeatedly waking me up. -the rooms were last renovated in 2015 and it’s time for another update. Lots of wear and tear. Some components clearly weren’t updated then and are just really old. Bathroom fixtures, etc. -My room was supposed to be 2 Queens. There’s no way those were normal queens. More like double beds. It was a battle all night with my teenager. My review is a little rough, but that’s because sleep quality is paramount and mine was really poor at this hotel. HVAC doesn’t receive enough focus but it can make or break a hotel and this one was bad. Would I stay there again? I’d explore other options in the area first. Four Points is kind of an unusual sub brand—“full service” but more bargain oriented. I think you tend to find dated properties that don’t quite meet the brand standards of the mainstream brand. Is it a step above a Hampton/Courtyard? Perhaps, if the details are done right. If you are a heavy sleeper you will probably do better here than I did.

Something has changed at this property...change of ownership or change of hospitality philosophy. I have stayed here for years with no issues. This stay was a trainwreck. While front desk staff was apologetic, property owner, who was also present, looked at me like I was crazy when i went to front desk to complain about the internet. Was dismissive, said he would restart the router, but service continued spotty, slow and would kick you off sporadically. While I am not a computer expert, I am relatively knowledgeable and former programmer. I had 4 devices with me, one a brand new dell laptop, and older dell laptop, ipad and iphone. internet was equally terrible on all four, extremely slow and unstable. Internet continued like this until i checked out the next day about 11am. Also, room had no smoke alarm, lights were burnt out over the mirror at the lavatory and there was no note pad or pen. I didn't even attempt to check out the continental breakfast. Previously when I stayed at this property, everything went well...it's not the hilton, but it was clean and everything worked. Be forewarned.
