We really enjoyed our stay here recently. Our room, overlooking the racecourse was quite large, very clean and comfortable. The food at breakfast was plentiful and very good. We enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar where drink prices were reasonable. All staff were very friendly and checking in and out was easy and efficient. Located a little outside the centre of Hamburg but a few minutes walk from the nearest U station. Also a number of bus routes stop outside. We would definitely stay here again.

We have done over ten annual trips and nowadays we lean towards the German markets for their quality. We chose Hamburg but had little knowledge of the city apart from reading a book earlier this year about the devastating air raids which took place in WW2. I had no idea where best to stay, just how big the city was and what it would be like to get around. I looked at hotels and found that those around the centre were either too expensive or fully booked so I decided to look a little further out and to chose a well known brand. I found the Best Western International had vacancies at an acceptable price but although I was a little apprehensive about its position decided to book it. We stayed for four nights and I have to say we were very pleased with it. We bought a Hamburg Card at the airport which gave us the use of the cities transport system for five days and also discount on excursions we took. It proved to be an excellent buy. From the airport we took the S1 into the main station then changed to the U2 which took us to a station about 100 yards from the hotel. The journey on the U2 was about ten minutes. On arrival we were met with a very efficient and friendly reception staff. We had upgraded our rooms and found them very nice, clean, a good bathroom and a very comfy bed. We had dinner in the restaurant which on a Thursday had an Italian theme. It was a buffet style and found it good and reasonably priced although we didn't find the soup we had seen advertised on the menu in the lift. We decided to try the breakfast the following morning and then decide if we would take it on the rest of our stay. At 13€ it we found it pretty good with a reasonable choice so we decided to take it for the remainder of our stay. We had drinks in the bar for three of the nights although we were surprised that both the bar and the restaurant were closed on Sunday evenings. There is a supermarket and also a fuel station nearby which both sell alcoholic and soft drinks so we resorted buying a bottle and sitting in our rooms. A few negative points are that there was no safe in the rooms, the TV didn't have many English news channels ( with the situation over Brexit the BBC would have been useful) and the coffee and tea were not replenished during our stay. On the positive side though we found all the staff extremely pleasant and efficient. All in all I would recommend this hotel even though there is nothing of much interest in the area The time taken and ease to catch a train into the city centre (and beyond) is well worth the effort and over the five days we were there became no bother whatsoever.

This hotel is a beautiful conversion of a late 19th century brick built school. Our ( premier) room was very spacious, quiet and comfortable with plenty of storage space (often lacking in many hotels we find) . The bathroom had an excellent walk in shower with decent shower pressure. As other reviewers have commented the breakfast buffet was fabulous with a huge choice - delicious bread, good coffee etc. Another plus is the hotel bar which is welcoming and comfortable serving drinks and coffees at reasonable prices. Before our stay, we were a little concerned about the distance of the hotel from Hamburg's major attractions. Our fears proved to be unfounded. The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from where the service into central Hamburg is fast, very frequent and safe. We enjoyed our weeks stay in Hamburg so much we hope to return and would choose this hotel again. It is very good value for money especially considering the high quality of its rooms, breakfast and service.

Stayed 2 nights at the hotel during a weekend trip to Hamburg. Inside, the hotel is nicely decorated and the rooms are new and in great condition. The front desk staff is very helpful. The restaurant had a great breakfast buffet, and they had a wonderful selection of gluten-free and non-lactose options. The distance to public transportation and Hamburg central was a drawback, though. Also, we had to pay €14 for parking at the hotel. Free parking for hotel guests would be a nice gesture to offer.

This is very much a budget hotel so I didn't expect too much, therefore I wasn't disappointed! My room was clean and functional with a TV and bed and not much more! This didn't really bother me as I was only staying for one night and wasn't going to be spending much time in my room! The reception staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The biggest problem was the lifts! There are just two fairly small lifts serving 12 floors (I was on the 9th!) and seriously you could grow old waiting for one of them to arrive! Then when one does arrive it's already packed!!! I realise that there is nothing that can be done to correct this major flaw in the original planning but should be borne in mind when booking! Breakfast was a decent continental spread and provided the necessary fuel for the day. Overall, this is a decent place to spend the night on a budget.

The location of the hotel is a bit biased, surrounded by immigrants. For the first time, McDonald's in Germany met a waiter who could not speak English. I can imagine the structure of the people around me. The windows of the room are virtually nothing, not at all, very noisy! I feel that the cars on the road are flowing all night. The police in the nearby police station are also on the police all night. It is estimated that the security is also worrying. It is not recommended.

Me and my partner went with another couple, my best friend and his partner to Hamburg from the UK. Having visited Germany to 3 different cities previously we new what to expect. Great culture, great people and very friendly. We were up for an adventure! Hamburg is the like many of Germany’s cities, modern; built up, vibrant with lots of things to do and places to go. With Hamburg being Germany’s second biggest city, the first Berlin you have to accept a lot of walking and travelling to get around. We went for 2 nights/2 days, a quick break; should of done 3 days. Still a lot to see, not much to do on Sundays mind you, as retail areas are closed; shops etc. Bars and restaurants are still open though! Hamburg was 80 per cent destroyed in WW2 so don’t expect to see a lot of old buildings and an old quarter; although there are areas. The Reeperbahn is one of the areas to be, some theatres and entertainment in this area. Lots of bars and clubs, very lively more so for couples; not children! As there are a lot of sex shops, strip clubs in this district, so be weary and don’t be surprised. This is the German culture, drinking, having fun etc, and they’re not afraid to show it. There are plenty of other areas of the city to visit away from the hustle and bustle of the Reeperbahn to investigate, so pack your bags and book those flights and accommodation. If I visit Hamburg again I won’t stay at this hotel... To far out the city, 10 minute taxi journey; 45 minute walk in the industrial quarter of the city. Views are industrial from the hotel, at all angles. Nothing around the area to visit, bars, restaurants wise you have to either walk, taxi or bus. Taxi is €10-€15 one way. Bus is €4 return. Buses run until late also around midnight. There is a McDonald’s a 10 minute walk away though if your starving after beers! The hotel is very clean, modern in reception, rooms are very clean semi modern; just a little dated probably; 2000’s era. The restaurant serves at set times, not open normally in the afternoon, and neither is the bar in this area. You can buy alcohol still though from reception (bottles). Worth staying at the hotel if you don’t mind travelling to and from the city every day via public transport. Enjoy your visit!

I'm giving this hotel 5 stars as it was everything we needed for a weekend exploring Hamburg and for a reasonable price. The location wasn't in the centre of town but the s-bahn was less than 5 mins walk and it was on the airport line, so easily reached. The room itself was modern and clean. The bathroom is cabin style with a nice big shower enclosure. My only complaint about the room was the heating. It was far too warm and the panel on the wall for the fan didn't seem to remedy the heat. The staff were friendly and helpful also.

This guest house is situated in Wandsbek, in the heart of Hamburg. Medina offers newly renovated studio apartments on the ground floor. The modern Das Hanse Quartier guest house provides cosy and spacious studios with a bathroom, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, refrigerator, microwave, a radio, a flat-screen TV and a Blu-ray player. Each bathroom is equipped with a shower, toilet and wash basin. A buffet breakfast and afternoon cakes are offered in the restaurant nearby. The shopping and entertainment centre at Wandsbek Markt in Hamburg has more than 100 shops and restaurants. The guest house excellent transport links. It is just about 14 minutes away by car or public transport from the elegant Jungfernstieg shopping street, the State Opera and Hamburg's CCH Exhibition Centre. Das Hanse Quartier can also be reached on the U1 underground line, or else the S1 or S11 suburban train lines. It is around 2 km from the Horner Kreisel junction of the A24 motorway, and there are lots of free parking spaces for cars.

Hotel lobby and rooms are nicer than what you would expect for the price. The rooms, as most hotel rooms in Hamburg, are not large or luxurious - but they are more than sufficient, with good beds, everything is very well maintained. Decent cable TV, excellent but a bit pricey breakfast buffet (more food options than what you would expect along with some local specialties like herring salad), and best of all, your Intercity room card is also your free ticket to the entire public transportation system, trains, subways, river boats and buses. Public transportation does not use turn styles, its an honor system with spot checks, so you will always have a valid ticket on hand if checked. 4 minutes down a pedestrian street is the Mercado Mall, which has high quality food offerings in a fancy food court setting, from Sushi to Indonesian to Italian, and so on. The neighborhood is full of small specialty shops. I have stayed in this hotel more than a dozen times over the last fifteen years - it is one of the best hotel choices in Hamburg if you want to stay within the $100 a night range, and it is located in the very cool and diverse Altona/Ottensen area of the city. You will not be disappointed.

We booked a Deluxe Room for 4 nights at the end of May (15 days before the reopening of the border between Switzerland and Germany) in the hope to be able to visit Hamburg traveling by car. The bet worked nicely. We managed to cross the German border and on June 27th in the early evening we arrived at the property. Upon parking outside the Hotel we unfortunately faced the disappointment that the Atlantic Hotel is currently undergoing a large overhaul, probably delayed by the corona lockdown. As a matter of fact the whole ground floor currently looks like a large constructions site, with a temporary reception build in the area of the original ballrooms and a maze of construction panels to go thru to reach the elevators. During our stay there were no noises, just some strong glue smell in the lobby on one day and lack of hot water in our room on a morning. We were assigned room 343 which was large, comfortable and quiet but completely empty of any printed leaflet or information brochure. Given the current corona restrictions many services were either not available (pool) or reduced (SPA massages), anyway the hotel looked to us as being understaffed, with single staff apparently serving on long shifts. The paper burden was huge: we were requested to fill in forms with our data on each breakfast, teatime or dinner even as a hotel resident. As no breakfast buffet is currently allowed because of the corona restrictions, breakfast has to be ordered à la carte with three main choices & some extra dishes available. Our experience with the staff was always positive, nevertheless they appeared overwhelmed and some of them even unexperienced. Slow and inattentive interactions were the obvious result, requiring multiple calls to get things done (e.g: obtaining a working ironing board, laundry missing item in a bag of three, forgotten breakfast items, booking a table at the hotel’s restaurant). All in all, even in this complex times we enjoyed visiting Hamburg and Lübeck by train (the railway station is located 10 min. by walk from the hotel) but this stay was absolutely not up to par with the usual Kempinski experience.

I had book this hotel for a family trip to Hamburg - and this specific hotel as I thought I could expect the regular Marriott experience .. Boy, was I wrong! At arrivial we learn that almost all facilities are closed - they could have told be at the time of booking - as I have found out that they were all closed at that time. The Front of house wasen't even sorry... anyway The room was spartan but big two big beds and one chair -that's it .. semi clean The first night there we decided to sit in the Bar after en excellent dinner in town, but what a mistake. With only few guests and almost as many staff, the service was horrible... we waited for 38 min for a pint and soda and an cocktail. There is no music - an effort to make things cozy would have been cool - the Bar was so quiet that we could hear the guys in the back of house laughing and doing dishes or something similar - not what you would expect in the Bar at this kind of hotel The Corona BOMB - there is absolutly NO cleaning - NO disenfection - anyware The tables in the restaurnt / Bar are NOT cleaned between guests. The entrance doors are NOT cleand / disenfected - we sat outside for little over an hour, with countless guests passing - all touching the doors - never cleaned The calling buttons at the lift - not cleaned Guys, this is how you get infected!! The "Breakfast" is a JOKE - a plate of cheep "Bake Off" bread, old stiff cheese and ham, a instant powder scramble eggs .. food arriving before your drinks... even after more than an hour of waiting - com'on - this is not "Rocket Science" I had an conversation with their "Guest Service Manager" before check out and expressed my disappoinment - to his HUGE surprice - only to find the same manager comment on several similar complaints on this and other websites This was my absolut last stay at this hotel

Hotel was good and the breakfast was good. However we booked and prepaid via Expedia but after departure they charged me for my room on my credit card despite front desk acknowledging it was prepaid and no charges when we checked out. This is an unauthorised use of my credit card. I emailed the hotel and they didn’t reply, so I had to telephone them. They remember my email and explained it was a billing error. Nobody bothered to acknowledge my email! However this is not acceptable as I have incurred call costs trying to resolve this matter. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels in my lifetime and never experienced this before. Also, they have room service after 12am but don’t offer drinks. Appreciate the bar closes at 12am but guests generally like something to drink with their food even if it’s just a coke.

To compliment the Adina, this aparthotel in Hamburg, the hotel facilities are new and modern. The room type we choose can accommodate four people and is very suitable for travelling with children. Two rooms, the children's room is a double sofa bed, all have a TV. The room has kitchen utensils and is equipped with a dining table chair for cooking. The surrounding traffic is very convenient, next to the street is the "dungeon" restaurant, 10 minutes away from the food supermarket, simply not too convenient, highly recommended.
