I truly can’t say enough about our experience at Williamsburg Manor. We arrived late and our room was ready for us and sparkling clean! We woke up and our breakfast was hot and delicious! My kids LOVED the cheese grits, eggs and pancakes (with homemade marshmallow sauce)! Internet worked great too. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you for the amazingly clean and comfortable accommodations and delicious food!!!

It is a unique B & B, of course I have not lived in other local B & B. It's an old building, and it's great to take photos inside and out ... It's a small restaurant living room, just like home. Come back every night to sit in the living room and turn down the newspaper ... The breakfast is exquisite and delicious. .. free small bottle of water, hot tea and coffee, chocolate chip pretzel ... the host chats with all guests every morning, sees different guests, and instantly knows who has a few children, what is it now or before retirement What are you doing haha, very interesting, a few small tables, like sitting in their own restaurant. The rooms are a bit small, and some have no TV.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Fife and Drum. We took a much needed getaway with just my husband and I are being stuck at home for several months due to COVID, and we could not have picked a better hotel for our stay. There were bars and restaurants right outside of the hotel, and all museums and colonial buildings were about a block or two away. They offered a great COVID friendly continental breakfast, and our fave, fresh cookies available all day! The room was so lovely and because of the small number of rooms, it was always very quiet. Billy and Sharon were so kind and knowledgeable about the area and offered plenty of suggestions of things for first timers to do. We cannot wait to get back to this wonderful hotel!

Breakfast is just like that. Many ordinary hotels in the United States are just like that, and they barely meet the requirements. The location is not bad, two kilometers from the College of William and Mary. The room is very hygienic, especially the toilet, no need to worry. The bed was very comfortable, and I fell asleep when I was lying down. Only note: no slippers in the room, no kettle, you need to find your own way. Overall great experience!

The hotel is definitely the most cost-effective hotel in Williamsburg. Who lives? Who knows that there are two toilets, two bathrooms, one dining table and two sofas. The hotel does not need to be cleaned every day. Before checking out, you need to clean up all the trash on the desktop. If you use tableware or the like, you must clean it and put it back. If you use tableware but don’t wash dishes, or there is too much uncleaned garbage in the room when you check out, you may be charged a cleaning fee of at least 35 dollars. The reason why this hotel is cheap is more because many things are self-service. The cost will be lowered if the staff asks for less. Consumers also have cheaper and more cost-effective rooms. The front desk staff is very friendly and recommends that if conditions permit, try not to live on the first floor. The room on the first floor is not too humid and it is a little bit humid. The reason we were at the Lodge was for a Regional Conference. It had been five years since we stayed at the Lodge. The Lodge is now affiliated with Marriott. Guest rooms were recently refurbished and the updating was well done. Rooms are quite nice and spacious. Room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the pillows were too soft and during the night, there was a dull thumping sound that presented itself every 45 minutes during the night. Parking at the Lodge is free. Meeting rooms are really nice and the sound and video systems were first rate for speakers and presentations. Break food and drink was very good by breakfast food was average at best. Staff assistance is first rate. They were helpful and cordial. So all in all, Lodge is located in a great location for visiting Colonial Williamsburg and its right across the street from the golf course and spa. The price of the room we paid was $149.00/night plus tax which is a good value for the location and amenities.

It was a very stormy night and the roads were flooding. I wanted to provide my 19 year old daughter and her 22 year old boyfriend a safe place to stay for the night that wasn't too expensive. Her plan was to awaken early the next morning and go immediately to Busch Gardens theme park. This establishment was very near the park and had a few vacancies unlike all of the other motels/hotels. While browsing, I was funneled through "booking. Com" which apparently handles the reservations for this motel. The website provided a place for me, a concerned Mother, to secure the reservation for a standard room at around $60.00. As I navigated my way through the booking.com website, I answered an important question about the over-night stay I was about to pay for. It said, " Are you making this reservation for someone else? I answered honestly and listed my daughter's boyfriend name as the primary occupant. I Did this because he is a few years older and was more likely to be familiar with these requirements. I then called my daughter to reassure her that I had secured a reasonable room for them and that I was happy to pay the full price for their safe accommodations. Grateful, she thanked me. Because all the nearby hotels were full, I called the hotel directly just to verify that indeed the reservation was valid. The Manager with whom I spoke was abrupt and unreasonable. He told me that because I was the one that made the reservation, that only I would be allowed to stay at the hotel for the night. I argued with him and told him that I was 75 miles away and was only securing the reservation at his establishment so that my daughter and her friend would have a safe place to stay and that I wanted it to be paid for totally with my credit card information that I had given booking.com. He became angry and told me that my credit card info was only to secure the reservation and that my daughter and her boyfriend would have to supply both identification and credit cards and pay for the room themselves! Of course I called booking.com and spoke with a very nice representative who couldn't believe what I was telling him and agreed to call the angry manager himself. Soon the representative called me back and assured me that everything was taken care of and that the charges would come from my credit card information on the reservation. However, the next morning I heard from my daughter who was very embarrassed that her boyfriend was asked for his credit card information and indeed was charged the entire price for the room. I apologized and called booking.com again but this time the representative told me that because of security rules, the hotel can only bill the guests who check in and stay the night. No friendly customer service at this place! I was just a mom trying to do a good thing and I faced a policy that was not flexible or family friendly. This may be part of the reason that the hotel has received rather low ratings from other travelers.

Fall trip to the area for relaxation and roaming around to some favorite places. First stay at this location. Masks were worn coming and going by all we encountered at motel. Weekday breakfast limited to breakfast sandwich/ biscuit cooked up as order with a bagel and etc in little neat box to go... Pick your choice of pre-cupped juices with lid, , a prepacked Otis Sputmeyer muffin. Easy enuff for something on the go. Rooms was extremely spacious and comfortable with great comfy mattress -- very clean and fresh sheets/ towel sets in super clean bathroom. Quiet and basically no noise except when doors slam shut in hall way. Staff very curteous. I would have to say that the little book lights on either side of bed are not steady...they droop downward..so maybe the motel will return to regular bed side lamps. NOT a fan of the check in : when getting the room paid for they had a whole different charge than I was told on the phone. When I looked at it , and asked the man why? what is the extra charges? I had my info wrote down on my pad I had made the reservation. His explaination was that they charge $25 daily for 'incidentals' that may be incurred/ or used during the stay.', but then take them off at the end of the stay when ya check out" Something bout that just didn't set or even sound right to me. I ain't bout to mess up or tear up nothing in a room I want to sleep in comfortable and safely ,anywhere!! I said... no we don't do that... the charge comes off NOW... I am not paying $25 daily for something I am not doing. Not going to sign for something I am not in agreement with. So he did promptly remove the charges and we got the charge paid we supposed to for the room as I was told for the reservation. Don't know if anyone else ever ran into something like this b4. I know in over 45 + yrs of traveling and paying for vacations-- have Never ever been 'precharge' for anything concerning a room. Always try to leave any room neat and trash gathered up at check out. Check out day did reflect t eh very same charge as agreed to for reservation...so I know there is to be no trick ups. That's just common sense to me. Maybe would stay again another time as it was close to alot of stuff we enjoy going to.

Very nice !! I’d say 4-1/2 stars. Staff exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was extra but worth it compared to prices charged by outside pancake houses . . . and convenient. Problems resolved quickly and fairly. I booked for 4 nights and extended another night. If you are REALLY fussy about everything, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. But the closest price was $50 and up per night more for a similar location - close and convenient, with very dedicated employees . . . some with 30 years of service or more. That says a lot to me. We’ll stay there again next year.

Let me just say that we have always said here, i've been a visitor for the past 10 or so years! This place doesn't look like much from the outside but the rooms are always clean! The pool is great and simple. We said this past september as a birthday trip for me, my husband, and my grandmother and it was nice, we are close enough to the stores and shops but still far enough to be comfortable. I have never had an issue when staying here, its kinda been a family tradition for us. The beds has always been clean and ready for us, they will even turn the a/c or heat on for you if you request. They also have two bedroom suites here so if you have a bigger family there is plenty of room. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a less expensive room that is clean and comfortable. We felt safe every time we stay here.

I booked this hotel on Priceline, through one of those deals where they pick your hotel. It was the most cost efficient option. This hotel should be removed from all travel websites. The only bright side of our stay was Kathrine at the front desk. Upon arrival, the man at the front desk said he was giving me a complimentary “upgrade”. I said thank you and continued to the room. We had been on the road all day and were starving. We dropped the bags and left. We did not pay attention to the room. Several hours later when we came back we noticed a horrible stench coming from the bathroom. It smelled like a dead rat. The entire room smelled. There was no table or chairs and the room had just two tiny lights. We tried turning the air on and it didn’t work properly. I went to the front desk and Katherine helped me switch rooms. The room she gave me, now that was an “upgrade”. It was so much better and I felt more comfortable. At this location you can rent by the week for a discounted price. The other side of the hotel was for those guests. There is one laundry room for the entire property, that’s always being used my the long term residents. At night there are prostitutes waking around and drug deals going on. You can tell me that is inaccurate all you want, but I wasn’t born yesterday. They don’t hide it. If you do end up staying here, do not stay in 214. Hard beds, no table, crap lightening, 20” tv, and a smell. 216 has a 32” tv, soft beds, no smell, and ample lighting!

Family came to celebrate the 5th birthday of our younger grandson. First time for all of us and not the last. Happy to know they are pet friendly and the dogs seemed to enjoy it, too. Each family unit (wife and I, her parents, and our kids with their kids) each had separate rooms. We had a king bed efficiency with a full kitchen...an actual kitchen with full size stove-oven, full size refrigerator, and all the necessities. We didnt cook that much since this was a short visit but I would feel comfortable cooking here as if I was in my own kitchen. Rooms we spacious and bed was quite comfortable. We were on first floor near an exit and that was very accommodating with our ever-present travel companions Lucy, Lily, and Charley. Quick walk to the pet area and the part adjacent to the hotel. COVID19 had closed some of the amenities (hot breakfast, pool, and spa area) but that is expected in the sake of safety for all involved. The staff was polite and courteous. I noticed how professional they were when there was a noise complaint lodged against out neighbors (not by us). She handled it professionally and respectfully and the offenders complied quickly. They were enjoying each others' company and just let time get away from them. I was enjoying their laughter and glee but to each his own. My only complaint I would have was the lack of hot water in the bathroom sink; the kitchen and bathtub-shower had plenty of hot water but the small sink took forever to heat up. I shave the old fashioned way with a hot towel butt that was a minor inconvenience.

Stayed for 2 nights for a trip to Busch Gardens. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the rooms are very comfortable. I've never stayed in a hotel with hardwood floors but it makes a big difference in having the room smell fresh and clean. Our housekeeper, Linda, did a wonderful job. It was so nice to come back to a clean room. The coffee in the lobby is quite good and the daytime staff (seemed to be the owner and his wife) were very friendly even for a late night check in.

We have traveled to Williamsburg for 3 years in a row now to visit Christmas Town at Busch Gardens. The past two years we stayed at the Holiday Inn at Historic Gateway. This year, when booking, we saw that location had fallen to #13, whereas this location (Busch Gardens area) had shot up to #4. So we thought to make a switch. WORST. DECISION. EVER. I will start by saying that while this may normally be a solid hotel, it seems they must have planned quite poorly for the number of people staying there at this time. Both mornings we were there, the breakfast area was overcrowded, with long lines, no seats, and lots of food shortages. This left our kids (ages 4 and 1) unhappy, hungry, and quite uncomfortable. If a hotel sees such a high number of people staying, I'd imagine they'd make adequate preparations for amounts of food, and to possibly add some temporary/folding tables/chairs to accommodate their guests. Also, our room received NO SERVICE. We left our room at 11 am, and returned at 10:30 pm, and to our dismay the beds were not made, the bathroom was not serviced, and we were left short on towels. Another note, we had requested a crib when we made the reservation, however it took 2 calls and a stop by the front desk after we arrived to get the crib. Even after multiple complains, the staff/management made no attempts to compensate or make the situation right. All in all this was a VERY subpar stay, and we will be returning to the other Williamsburg location next year.

We have been coming to this hotel for years. If you are looking for luxury or lots of bells and whistles, this isn’t your place. But what it does have is friendly staff, consistently clean rooms, and a unique character that really endears the place. The hotel is small and all rooms have doors directly on the parking lot. But, one of the really neat features of this hotel, most of the rooms have both and standard hotel room door, and a heavy slatted screen door. Because it’s generally a quiet place, you can leave your main door open and enjoy some fresh air in the room without sacrificing privacy. The rooms are massive, but dated. The bathrooms are small and the features haven’t been updated in probably something around 30+ years. But, with that being said, the rooms are consistently clean and well kept. Sure there are signs of wear and tear, but it’s minimal and it really doesn’t look like it comes from neglect. In fact this motel has a time capsule quality to it. The one complaint we have is that the mattresses have seen much better days. It’s okay for a night, but they are in need of a change. The staff have always been pleasant and helpful. We have checked in at all hours of the evening and have never had a problem. The lobby is equally charming with its original wood framed windows and its big fireplace. There is even a clear place behind the desk where there used to be key boxes for each room. The last great feature of this motel is it’s location. It’s only 10 minutes away from Busch Gardens, it’s just off the eastern corner of Colonial Williamsburg, and, best of all, is sits directly next to the best breakfast place in town, Colonial Pancake House. Make sure to pick up a coupon for 10% off in the motel lobby. And don’t worry if there is a wait, it moves fast and it’s worth it.

Positives: Staff was very friendly and check in was a breeze. The pool looked nice and spacious although my husband and I did not use it and it looked like it got clean multiples times a day. The location was close to all the attractions and lots of restaurants. The room was clean and for what you pay is a decent size. There is a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. The TV was good quality with a wide range of channels to pick from. Water pressure in the shower was pretty good and water stayed warm. The bed sheets and pillows were nice and clean Negatives: For some reason this hotel does not give you toiletries ( mini shampoo, soap, etc.) which is not a big deal as you can bring them with you or make a quick run to the store. The bed is very hard and rather uncomfortable (which isn’t uncommon in a hotel). The building is right by the train tracks and you can hear the trains going by through out the night (about 3-4 of them) so if you aren’t a very deep sleeper this will be an issue. The WiFi in the room works but it goes in and out a lot. The safe in our room didn’t work. Housekeeping does not come everyday and towels are not changed out. The exterior of the hotel is run down and can make you feel a little uneasy. Although the website said there is breakfast offered in the lobby daily my husband and I never actually saw it. Not sure if we went too early, too late, or they just don’t offer it anymore. Overall I believe we would stay here again. Update: The A.C. in our room broke on our last night here, we didn’t bother to ask for it to be fixed since we were leaving in the morning. It did make for a miserable night after many attempts of turning it back on and off, switching it from low to high, and vise versa we gave up.

On the plus side, the room, for the most part, was clean. It just needs a good "spring clean" to dust off the baseboards and the tops of window sills and the clothes rack and clean the doors. The bed was comfortable and the pillows good. It's definitely 60s vintage, especially the bathroom. The a/c and wi-fi worked fine. You just need to plan ahead and bring kleenex, ice, glasses/cups (only two plastic ones were provided in the room), and a binder clip or clothespin to securely close the blackout curtains. There is also no coffee maker or hotel-provided breakfast, but if you loop around to Merrimac Trail (VA 143) you'll find diners, restaurants, and convenience and food stores. Trains run the track across York Street a few times a day, but the noise is not bad. The exterior is kept up (nice flowers - but the beds may have been the source of sugar ants that invaded my car - took almost a week to get rid of them). All rooms are non-smoking. So all things considered, this is a decent place to stay if you're looking for a budget-friendly place to sleep and don't mind bringing some supplies.

We had booked through Priceline's "book one of these 3.5* hotels and receive a deal." When we got there it was 10 pm. The rooms kitchen had a sticky floor and there was pickle juice spilled all over the fridge. The bottom drawer was full of the pickle liquid. We told the front desk, and they were great. They showed us two other rooms that we could potentially move into, but those were ever dirtier. The airconditioning on one of the other rooms had mold in it. We shortened our stay and moved to another hotel. Again, the front desk staff was extremely helpful, did not give us a hard time and returned our money. When we were leaving the room in the morning I noticed there was a hole next to our air conditioner and I could see all the way outside!! The whole experience made me sad for the front desk staff because they really went above and beyond to accommodate us because of the poor work of housekeeping and maintenance.
