Tulsi Village Retreat is an excellent getaway for people looking out for a peaceful, safe, isolated location for their vacation in nature's own nest. Packed with all the necessary amenities, it is situated about 25 kms away from the popular hill station, Munnar, it is at a lower elevation & surrounded by dense foliage, very close to the Kallarkutty river. We stayed in the tree-house room which has a beautiful sit-out overlooking this river, the hills & forests. In short, it has a magnificent view! It being the monsoon season, to witness the clouds descend from above the hills almost into the room was heavenly!! As far as the eye could see, it was just the greens, the mist, the river...& "silence could be heard"… The ***ager of the resort, Mr.Govind, turned out to be a most amicable & helpful person, who very efficiently handles all the big & small requirements of the guests. Delicious home-cooked food is available from resort’s kitchen (no restaurant here). Guests do have to inform their choice well in advance, as it's difficult to suddenly arrange something. The resort hosts only about 8 rooms in a huge estate, which has a variety of flora. It is obvious that the resort is built by a nature-lover for nature-lovers...! Rest assured, if one is not too obsessed with star facilities of an urbane-type hotel, one can certainly bask in nature's glory, with clean rooms, good food & hospitality, & peaceful surroundings.

We were looking forward to a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of Munnar, yet strategically located to access all the important points around. We were lucky to have stayed at The Haven. Excellent large sized rooms laid out with all amenities in the most aesthetic ***ner with a lot of personal care by the hosts. Big balconies where we lounged around and witnessed a stream and indigenous flora that attracted a lot of birds. We were lucky to catch the sight of a hot air balloon tethered at its launch point atop a hill in close proximity to the accommodation. Food prepared by the hostess was out of the world. We experienced warm hospitality in totality. Great value for money. And especially for those who value nature and tranquility.

The location of the Athens Cottage It was very hard to find, but it was worth it because of very beautiful location for nature lover. you will find very different kinds of birds (if you can spot it ;) )... like Malabar Whistling Thrush, Keralian Fat bulbul, Asian paradise flycatcher, Greater racket-tailed drogo.. and ***y more... different kinds of trees, plants, spices... wow... very delighted... Room was good clean for couple. bathroom was neat and clean. We had nice sleep. And our alarm was Malabar Whistling Thrush singing at 6 am.. Mr.Kuriakose ( Athens Cottage Owner) was looked tough guy and He WAS surely. But Nonetheless he was caring too. He was ready to help on anything you ask. Mrs Delsie(Mr. Kuriakose's wife) was amazing cook. On second night we had Amazingly Delicious Veg Stew(we had never tasted it like before) with Appam.. WOW... what a dinner!!.. we had never expected this type of food. after that In the morning we had dosa, it was also so yummy we had almost two to three dosa and we had our belly full till afternoon. we also wanted more food from them so we thought of having third night dinner also. So on third night we were expecting more.. And guess what .. , WE GET IT.. It was unbelievable, we had mouth watering Curry, Something new Iddy Appam., and we thought that was it.. but no... there was also one keralian Kheer (Sweet) which We had never heard it or tasted it before. I am still missing the taste of kheer. the next morning our bus stop was approx 5 km away, but Mr.Kuriakose dropped us to bus stop in his car. We are so thankful to him. overall amazing experience with Athens Cottage.. I recommend it to everyone who loves Nature and food..

It isn't an extravagant resort per se. Still, the resort has all the facilities to keep your vacation exciting and relaxing. I travelled with a group of friends, and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. However, listing +ves and -ves for travellers: +ves: Amazing infinity pool that faces a scenic view. Please make sure to use them before it gets dark :) Albeit a little slow but good hospitality from the front desk. Rooms were neat We even played cricket, so a small bit of space for box cricket for sure -ves: The resort is alteast 10 km away from the city of vagamon, so if you plan on visiting pine forest and meadows, the resort is in the other direction. So quite a bit of distance to be covered Rooms are tiny and felt very congested No shops around, so please do buy eateries and snack well in advance There isn't any location nearby for trekking. Some resorts do have places to trek, but Grasmere doesn't. But overall I did enjoy my trip, although it was a short one day trip.

I can't recommend this place enough. Situated on the edge of a cliff with an absolutely stunning view over the valley. I had breakfast on top of watch tower overlooking the forest and looking down 1000 meters. Very few people, quietest and most relaxing place in India so far. The staff was most accommodating, nice and extremely helpful. The weather is all year long around 25 degrees. You can walk though nature *****side the top of the mountain range and drop by an ayurvedic garden nearby. I stayed in a tree house made out of wood with a porch looking into the forest. The place was very clean even though a bit old and some things were falling apart which for me just added this wonderful adventurous flair of having found a perfect jungle retreat far from the mainstream tourism. You have to come!!! I recommend at least three nights and more...

The place was wonderful. It’s a peaceful area in the middle of tea plantation. The cottages are independent and so it’s good to have great fun with friends as it won’t any disturbances to other guests. The climate was cool as compared to the climate and temperature in other places. The place is to good for those who want privacy and peaceful atmosphere.

Excellent, clean and spacious rooms. We were not expecting such a great hotel in such a small remote town. Room is around 400 sq ft, which is very good for such a class hotel. Its super clean with all the required amenities. The staff is friendly and the restaurant, though not offering too much of a variety, the food served is genuine and at a reasonable price too. So, whats bad about it. Only one thing, which is poor Wifi. I spoke to the staff about the same, and they assured it will be addressed soon.

This February of 2020, me with my wife had an opportunity to visit Ragamaya resort & spa in munnar. I had a sigh of relief when we reached Ragamaya after a somewhat bumpy country road drive. But the long drive from Cochin was absolutely worthy for the resort is truly beautiful, quiet, peaceful with an electrifying view like I have seen nowhere else. Without doubt, it was one of the best stays i could have asked for. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the front desk executives. The receptionists were really helpful and friendly. Great staff who knew how to serve the customer. The room was well equipped and the service was excellent. From the balcony, the view of the ponmudi resoirver was just breathtaking and an absolute treat for a morning cup of tea. The location of our room was absolutely perfect. The view of the sunset from that point was mesmerizing. The restaurant offered some awesome food with very friendly and attendive staff. The infinity pool is just magnificient with temperature control to enjoy irrespective of the cold weather. The ayurvedic spa is a must try, especially the head and foot massage was just a perfect treat. I totally would recommend Ragamaya resort & spa to all my friends and family. I would like to thank Mr. Jacob Thomas for all the arrangements made for me and my family. Thank you.

things you will get here 1.The amazing view from the property, choose valley view rooms (They are the best and stayed in one of them).Spacious rooms although a bit old property. When visiting munnar make sure you spent time in your rooms and relax for which chinnakkanal region and in which JOYS HOTEL AND RESORTS will be best.(you will know why when u see the property)cheap for the facilities they provide. Chinnakkanal although a bit difficult to reach because of road works is the best place to stay in MUNNAR. Away from the town.the roads open for 1 hour in morning and evening .Alternate routs are awailable but tedious. 2.Hospitality is something to call out at Joy's.The staff are extremely courteous and helpful, they made sure our stay there was pleasant.I would say one of the best group of staff of all the resorts that I have travelled so far. Would recommend this place to anyone who loves to create good memories and return to your daily routine with a fresh mind. Read less

Last week we stayed in this lovely hotel after a boring lockdown period. It was a welcome change. The climate was superb and some times Misty. Though it was drissling for some time in the evening, we enjoyed it. Hotel has a lovely location with a breath taking view. Though they opened the hotel just two days before, we were welcomed with a warmnhospitality and withncovid protocols. Sanitizers are available in the entrance and other touch points . Temperature was taken. Our luggages sanitized and the entry was touchless. The staff in the rception was warm with a smile. The food was tasty though they had a limited menu. May be because they are not fully opened. Hospitality and comforts. Were. More than our expectation. Joshnermg@gmail. Com ±919995028326

The title of my review is directly taken from their website. And oh boy, it is true. I recently visited the resort from Bangalore ***** with my family. This is situated at around 7-8km from the Munnar town amidst picturesque view of Pallivasal. When we saw the approach road, I was bit hesitant to take the plunge as it is too steep for my comfort but still took it. Its kind of an adventurous ride from the main road to the resort. But that's the point of hill stations right. Roads will be curvy, steep and what not. Caution: If you are fully confident on your driving skills, only then you drive otherwise you call the resort ***ager and he will arrange for your pick up. The resort is in midst of cardamom plantation. We booked the valley facing room and what a view it was. I always felt that i am in middle of some tropical forest. As soon as we reached, Ratheesh (operations ***ager) welcomed us and showed us our room. The room was well maintained with all the amenities. The staffs were prompt and always ready to help you out. They have few activities in the resort which can be tried out. We went for a plantation tour and were surprised to see a fully fledged waterfall during inside the plantation. They have a restaurant as well and the price of the items were fair enough. Ratheesh and Selva made sure that all our requests were attended to. Good job both of you. Looking forward for my next visit.

The Broad Bean may not boast of being close to the city centre or amidst the spice or tea plantations, but it does have ***y things that work in its favour. The villa style rooms are very spacious. The little balconies add to the homely touch. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The toiletries need much to be desired. For a resort of this scale, they can have better shampoos, conditioners and moisturisers than the ones they currently have. The rooms with jacuzzis and private pools are even better and a must try if your budget permits. The mattresses need an upgrade though. They are not very comfortable. The pool is small considering the space they have and not much maintained. But they clean it on request for the guests. The recreational area which includes basketball court, badminton court and the boating is great for the kids. It can do with a little upkeep though. The spa is very good. Dr. Akhila provides consultation to everyone patiently. Shirodhara is recommended. The overall property is very well-maintained. It is clean, the grass is always cut, plants are well looked after. The food may not be of North Indian's taste but the staff tries their best. They customise on request and are willing to provide you with things you need. The mushroom pasta in white sauce was great! Opt for ala carte instead of the buffet for warm and better-tasting food. But I do give them credit that they readily provided us with without garlic food on request. The entire staff - right from the reception to the servers is extremely hospitable. They are friendly and ready to help. The room service needs improvement. As the kitchen is far from the rooms, the food is often late and luke warm by the time it reaches. The hotel should use the golf carts/ buggies available with them for delivering food in time instead of sending a server walking up the steep path. Right across the resort is a little stream flowing complete with a little waterfall. I am sure around monsoons and during winters it will be in full glory. The resort can try and develop it as a little picnic spot for the guests. We visited during Women's Day and Holi weekend. Women's day was celebrated with a cake cutting for the guests as well as the staff but they had no plans for Holi. While Holi is not a South Indian festival but a lot of North Indians stay at the property. A little something can be planned to make the festival special for the guests.

We stayed at the Kuni for three nights. If you're looking for a relatively quiet off the grid accommodation this will suit you. (Finding it can be quite a challenge as it's about 8km from the town down a single track road, 0.5km of which is a very rough track). There is also no signage to help or even a sign at the accommodation gate.... the drive to and from the Kuhi however, is in my view better than some of the local scenic viewpoints we visited and you get to see the tea pickers in action and returning from a days work in the evening. Once you arrive :- friendly greeting, the rooms are huge, light, bright and very clean. Bed linen was excellent and the bed was very comfortable, ***** with a sofa to chill out. Stacks of wardrobe space. The staff cannot do enough to meet any requests and were so friendly and genuine throughout our stay, ably ***aged by Basil, who made us feel so welcome. The choice of food is excellent for such a small accommodation (only six rooms). We dined there on the three nights trying various things from the menu and everything was cooked to perfection. Sitting outside on the bedroom terrace was a very pleasant experience. For stunning views of the tea plantation you need only walk a couple of hundred metres and it is indeed a sight to behold. Slight negatives are the poor wifi, it was very intermittent with a weak signal. (Its likely at the end of the line..). The restaurant area is totally lacking any atmosphere, merely functional.... no hairdryer for the ladies I'm afraid, even on request. In summary, if you want away from the hustle and bustle of noisy Munnar and don't mind having poor wifi and no phone signal this is the place for you. The huge room and the scenic drive to and from the Kuhi ***** with lovely staff would make us happy to return again. A very enjoyable three nights.

This place offers everything for a comfortable stay with family with kids, it has ample space for kids to play and explore plants, flowers, birds and butterflies, it has amazing mountain views, beautiful garden, surrounded by lush green trees which made every morning beautiful. We get to see different species of birds. This place is hosted by the family who take care of every need with love. The breakfast was so delicious and tasty. Mr.Gabriel, the owner of the property helped us in every possible way to make our stay comfortable. Basic necessities shop is just in front of this property and also couple of tea shops were available nearby. Good restaurants were available at Anachal Town, we can take a tuk tuk from the property to reach there or order the food over phone and it will be delivered at the property. If the host family had any extra hand to help them, we would prefer to have lunch or dinner at the property itself, but still they offered to cook us dinner when we become sick for couple of days. We stayed for six nights at this place and not even one day this place and the hosts let us down, our kids enjoyed thoroughly and did not want to leave. Highly recommended for family with kids.

After researching a lot of properties in Munnar, we booked 2 rooms (4 people) at this property because of its proximity to town. The property itself is excellent with clean rooms and it is isolated from the main road and right in the middle of trees and plantations (See pics); The food tastes excellent and probably the best I have had in a while. however, the behavior of the staff was pathetic during our stay. You literally have to beg the staff because they refuse to provide the basic hospitality you expect from a hotel. I have had better experiences with staff behavior at places that charge 500/800 Rs a night compared to this place that charges anywhere between 3500 and 4500 rs a night for a room. I don't want anyone else to go through what we went through so I am spending my valuable time documenting my experience here. This property is actually a guest house owned by the Areva packaged drinking water company. The owners have opened it up for the general population considering it is unoccupied most of the times. Here is what went wrong during my stay. I would recommend you read all of it before going ahead with your booking : 1. Breakfast : I had booked this property through AirBnb through a guy named Raiyaan. Before booking the property, I had explicitly asked Raiyaan if breakfast is free and whether all 4 of us can order different dishes for breakfast. I had also sent him an email asking to confirm if the list of items such as Paratha, Puri, Dosa, Idli, etc can be served as breakfast. He provided a confirmation for both these points on email; however, when we reached the property, Ansar (ground staff) simply refused to serve more than one dish type for breakfast. He asked us to choose one dish type that all 4 of us would like to have. When you pay 3500-4500 rs a night for a room, you don't really expect only one dish to be served in breakfast. I had to argue with him for quite some time and showed him the emails exchanged with Raiyaan. I was finally able to convince him to serve one more dish type for breakfast but the long discussion made it a negative experience. If this was not enough, breakfast timings are decided by Anar (8 - 9 30 am in our case). Also, if you ask Ansar for more bread or more tea, he will bluntly refuse. Once again, you need to argue and discuss with him for him to understand that one extra cup of tea or extra bread is expected when you are paying this much for a room. 2. Dinner : If you want to have dinner at this property, you need to inform Ansar (ground staff) about what you want to eat latest by 5 PM. Since sightseeing shuts at 7 PM in Munnar and drivers are against driving in the dark and fog, you are going to find yourself having dinner at the hotel you book unless you want to have dinner at 6 or 7 PM itself. Even if you have your own car, you will still wouldn't want to drive that late. Bottom line, you are going to have to have dinner at your hotel more often than not. On our first day, we were

Have tried Chicken Biryani, Egg Biryani, Chicken Noodles and some other dishes, all of which are very tasty. Anand and every person of the Resort are very caring and attentive to the guests' needs! I highly recommend Spice Jungle Resort! Thank you!

I would not recommend staying here... this hotel is fine, but value for money just isn’t there. It is SIGNIFICANTLY too pricey for what it is. The place would be great if it was half the price or less... or if it up’ed its game and delivered fully on its ambition. A few details: The natural setting is nice and its remote location among the tea plantation makes it interesting. The rooms are comfortable enough, and clean. The staff is friendly and well intentioned, and was accommodating when we brought forth some issues. HOWEVER: -As per ***y comments from other travelers, the rooms need a significant refresh (mesh carpets are torn, hot water needed repairs to work, telephone was broken, UV films are peeling off windows, etc.) and remain quote basic for the price -Service is far from seamless: took a lot of back and forths to get pick up sorted out, a lot of “waiting time” (e.g. before activities, before departure) as things don’t run on schedule, getting in room calls early in the morning about an activity that we cancelled the day prior to sleep in, etc. -The food is OK but nothing to write home about. À la carte lunch menu is very limited (only a few dishes available out of the ***y dozens listed), which is constraining given no way to eat elsewhere during the day. No cold drinks -The beautiful surroundings are somewhat soured by some questionable landscaping (e.g. tree clearings that take away from the forest charm, dusty badminton court with heavy mesh walls just in front of treehouse views) and some carelessness (e.g. building materials lying around) These may be “small things” but guests should not have these issues when paying the prices asked here relative to other options We moved after 1 night and stayed in another, more comfortable place, with better food, for ~1/4th of the price - albeit less isolated in nature. Simply not worth it to pay the difference to be up in the trees - go hiking instead! (Note: I sent this review to the hotel before posting, to offer them a chance to react. No reply after 5 days so went ahead and posted. Further supports point above on service...)

For 2020 diwali i went, stayed for two nights with my wife and kid. Before going I was in a lot of search because of the coivid-19 situation everywhere. For that i would like to thank Mr Prabhu, for gave me a confident via phone cal. After lot of discussion in phone i booked as per his guidance. It was a thrilling and amazing experience for me to entering the property. Here too i read lots of review about the road condition to resort. But guys i would like to mention here that, roads are not at all bad, but yes it was very very steep. A new driver or learner might get panic but i enjoyed it. From the NH it is near about 200-250 mtrs steep road for approaching property but road was in good condition. Next, check in was much smoother with strict adhering to covid-19 protocols. I was given a room at third floor, from balcony the view was amazing. Rooms were clean and neat. Next day morning we went to ground floor restaurant for having our breakfast. It was a buffet bf. Very limited items were there and taste was also ok. I could understand that in this covid situation resort staffs were putting much efforts for making customer good feel, so overall BF experience was not a big concern. Then i went to reception for site seeing enquiry. The staffs were very polite and was much helpful for guiding us. If we needed then, they arranging jeep for site seeing activities. Since we went with our own vehicle we didnt opted for it. After site seeing we reached back around 8 pm. Night dinner was al-cart and we ordered from our room. Within some half an hour we got the dinner at our room and it was good. Rates were neither costly nor cheap. Some items were little over priced. Only disappointment was for dinner buffet was not there. And again i understood as mentioned above due to covid situation they may not able to arrange. Then Gotta a relaxing rest in the night. Next day morning since it is a Sunday we could find some more numbers of customers were coming and going. Enjoyed swimming in the pool. For kids some playing activities are at the basement. Carrom, chess, indoor cricket kits are available for kids to play. We can have a relaxing walk around over the property. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and once again would like to mention Mr Prabhu for recommending this property and Mr Samal for good guidance in route (from kochi) to the resort and for booking formalities. A big YES for staying safe and for a relaxing holiday treat and if time permits will visit once again & also will recommend my friends for a pleasant stay.

We stayed in cuckmere resort for 2 nights. The place is very quiet, away from the munnar city,Which is very relaxing. The view from the room is superb👌 all rooms have an awesome view in their hotel ! Food quality is 10/10 very tasty and rates are reasonable..chef Mr Prasad cooks vey nicely..we had all our meals in the hotel only! Which is tension free and you won't get any other places to eat nearby. Hotel is very clean and neatly maintained. Restuarant staffs Neethu and Nithya (twin sisters) were too good .The reception staffs Sumi and Ashwathi were very friendly. And it's easily approachable from main road. The only thing we didn't like was pool which needs maintanence.otherwise it's an awesome stay. Thank you 😀

I had been to Aranyaka Resorts when they had sort of just started (over 7 years ago), and even celebrated Diwali with the main promoters/owners while we were there. The view is awesome! Very recently, I took a 3-day/2-nights vacation again with my family. I was very happy with the rooms, the facilities, the service and the food. The room service and the housekeeping staff are efficient (although young and ***y of them only speak Tamil) and prompt. I did not have to wait for more than 15 mins for things like extra tea bags, extra drinking water etc. The food could have been more varied, but I suppose they have limitations - because a majority of their guests are vegetarians and even Jains - in other words, you can't get mutton, and beef is out of the question. (But chicken, fish and eggs are available.) If you can take about two and a half hours off from your busy vacation schedule, you must visit the Kalari Kshethra, about 6 kms from Aranyaka. They have amazing, aweinspiring Kathakali and Kallaripayat (the father/mother of all martial arts) perfor***ces. Also remember to tell your driver that he can have meals with Aranyaka staff, and sleep in the dorm too. The view is awesome! Yes, I know I mentioned it before - but it's worth mentioning again :-)
