      Like many, we have limited our travels and stays in hotels over the past two years. So, we were particulaly impressed with this property which has managed to actually increase its quality and impact on travelers. Our first impressions of cleanliness in the lobby were confirmed at check-in, in the elevator and, most importantly in our exec suite. Plus everyone with whom we interacted, from the desk, the bar and the friendly, courteous lady cleaning the entranceway was competent. While some hotels have suffered by loss of staff in various areas, the Marriott Suites Downers Grove has advanced--well done!

      My uncle and I always stay here when we're in town. The rooms are nice, and the beds are comfy. Most hotels are loud, you can always here someone slamming the door. I've never experienced that here. They're currently under construction to convert to a Best Western, but the construction didn't bother us. The pool was closed and they only offered granola bars and juice to go for breakfast. Parking is rough, due to the restaurant in the same parking lot (valet uses the good parking spaces at the hotel). Good options on the tv, plenty of channels. The comforter had some type of stain on it (it looked like dried blood). No other complaints though.

      The hotel operated by the Indians, because the location is close to the office, so book this hotel, but the sheets are washed by the washing machine of the hotel, a little taste, not too clean. On the last day, there were bugs, and I was smashed by two bags. I couldn’t go on for half a month!

      I've spent 50-60 nights in a hotel over the last year. Do you know how many names of the front desk associates I can recall... one. I stayed at the Westin Lomard hotel a few months ago. I was greeted by David at the front desk. Professional, attentive, friendly and great with every guest as I waited my turn in the line. Fast forward several months, as I walked towards the front desk tonight, and the front desk attendant welcomed me. Without missing a beat or looking at a name tag, I said "Hello David". David is a great ambassador for the hotel and the Westin brand.

      Pros: Comfortable bed, nice TV, hot shower, plenty of outlets, nice lobby. That's it. Cons: Oh boy, where do I start... Room is dated, small bathroom, cheap iron, no microwave. I called the front desk for a better iron, they said they would bring it to me right away, but never got it. I had to go down to the front desk and swap it out. Desk is not conducive for a laptop - not deep enough & too high. It's more like a sofa table, not a desk. Heater is loud - I cranked up the heat to get the room warm enough so I could shut it off while sleeping. Rooms on highway side are noisy. Tried to switch to a room on the other side, but no comparable rooms available. No dinner restaurant, no room service, no daily housekeeping service, no conditioner supplied. Internet is $15/day unless you book direct with Marriott or have high Bonvoy status. Breakfast is $15/day, not really worth it. Same thing every day, only hot food is scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon. Want toast? Need to tell the one woman working the dining area to make it for you, takes way too long. Please Marriott get her some help - she is running around restocking food, cleaning tables, making toast, printing bills, too much for one person. And we can make our own toast! Gym is depressing, not well stocked, dumbbell selection is only 35 to 50 lbs. Pool is permanently closed. Was expecting to get my hotel invoice e-mailed to me, but never received it. Called the hotel 2 days later, was told computer system is down. The woman at the front desk said she would print out the invoice, take a photo of it with her personal phone, and e-mail it to me right away. Never received it. I know Marriott can do better. Supposedly the hotel is being renovated soon, but I'll stay at the nearby Residence Inn in the meantime.

      Our event was super successful this year, the only thing I would change is being on the same page with where everything gets delivered. We had multiple vendors send items in and since this place is full of multiple events at a time we had some miscommunication. Overall, it went smoothly after figuring all the small things out and look forward to using this conference room next year!

      My husband and I spent one night as a quick getaway and pleased with the comfortable room. We talked about bringing our friends next time. There was a wedding that evening and we enjoyed people watching while having drinks in the lovely lobby bar, the drinks were good and the service very attentive. Before we left for dinner, we stopped at the front desk to ask for late check-out which the clerk said it wasn't a problem. The next day I went to get coffee and my husband was at the gym, when he returned to the room the key did not work so we went to the front desk. The front desk manager came out and acted like it was such a big deal to get us back in the room and said it was noted we had already checked out. We explained we had requested late check out the night before and that some of our belongings were still in the room. She scolded us in front of her staff and other customers stating they NEVER have late check out and nothing was noted in the system. She continued to argue with us about getting back in the room and that we would be charged. I told her my husband needed to take a shower she finally said we can have 15 minutes and after that again said we would be charged if we took longer. This front desk manager Euolina may have been her name had the worse demeanor and inflexibility I've ever seen. We've stayed in plenty of hotels and understand requests cannot always be granted, that's understandable. When we left that manager was not around she was probably in the back and 2 younger clerks were very apologetic, almost like they knew her behavior was wrong without having to say it. Because of her treatment and horrible customer service towards us I will not return or recommend.

      We've stayed here several times over the years. And the hotel is still excellent. The amenities, cleanliness and service is commendable. Great location with stores and restaurants nearby. Credit is given to the manager for consistently leading this property to exceed Hyatt standards while providing safe, clean accommodations a a good experience for all. Highly recommended.
