My father fell and injured his leg. The staff were very helpful and had a wheelchair he could use during our stay. When we were unable to get into the hotel restaurant due to reserved parties, they called to find a take out sushi place (very unusual for Japan) and gave us a map to get there. The restaurants and views were beautiful.

This waterfront hostel is superbly situated, looking across the Kanmon Strait to Mojiki and up and down the waterway. There is a common area at reception on the ground floor but the focal point of the hostel is the top floor, divided between a kitchen and an outdoor terrace where one can sit and watch the passing parade of merchant ships. Facilities are ok, the building having been gutted and refitted on the cheap. The gaps between slats in the bunk beds are large but a comfortable position is possible. The dorms and some private rooms face the road and Akama Jinju shrine, not the sea. The second floor cafe also has a sea view. I was going to mark it down on location, having arrived in Shimonoseki after dark with little information and taken a ¥1200 taxi ride to get there. It turns out it's not at all hard to reach, by bus or on foot, but neither the hostel website or Booking.com give good directions. From Shimonoseki JR station any bus from stand #1 will pass Uzu House - ¥230, get off at Akamajingumae stop. On foot, from the east exit, turn left and then right on the main road. Continue on this road to the waterfront and keep following the waterfront. After 40 minutes Uzu House will be on your right, opposite Akama shrine.

History: Originally built and opened in 2010 Location: East side of Shimonoseki train station, approximately 8 minutes walk from there. Centrally located in the city. Interior Décor: Simple and functioning. Better than the older generations of Dormy Inns. Exterior Appearance: 10 story hotel in downtown Shimonoseki. Outside view from the room I stayed at (201): Street level view of east side of Shimonoseki central city area. Relatively well organized area. Room Size: Approximately, 18 square meters for one queen size bed. Slightly bigger than average Dormy Inn rooms. Room Cleanness: A bit worn walls. Bathroom: Compact size. Shower only. Large size bath (public bath) is located on the 10th floor. Noise Insulation: OK. Price and Value: Inflated Saturday night stay. Bed: Queen size (width 160 cm). Firm mattress. Slept OK. Breakfast: Featuring local Shimonoseki gourmet, blowfish. Better than average selections and appearance. Public bath on the 10th floor: Good public path with large size tubs. Looks brand new.

The hotel is quite near JR Shimonoseki Station and the bus terminal. So very convenient for sight seeing. There is wide variety of restaurants to choose from neighbouring area such as green mall shopping street.Staffs are friendly and the bed was comfortable. Only negative point was very limited choice for the breakfast. Anyway much better than my expectation so I would stay here again If I come to Shimonoseki.

Actually, the purpose of booking this hotel was to visit Tsunoshima Bridge, but later found out though this hotel is quite well located to station, it is still not the best to visit Tsunoshima bridge. Best is to go from Nagotishi station. But this hotel is nice, typical Japanese mid range hotel. Front desk is professional but not as friendly as some other hotels. Breakfast though ccomplimentary, is very basic, bread, eggs, and some fruit juices. I asked for Kocha or English tea, they offer none. Only water and coffee. wifi is working well, nothing else to comment further on this hotel.

Hotel facilities are relatively old, the room space is really very thin, too much night can still be, 20-inch luggage can barely open, the air duct should be 90-year products, the wind is too thin, the only advantage is the location, In the city center of Shimonoseki, there is a Jusco Island, a large department store, and it is very convenient to travel. Self-driving friends should pay attention to the parking lot outside the hotel. It costs 500 baht a night.

The uniform character of Japanese hotels is small and comprehensive, which is the feeling that the sparrows are small but complete. This hotel is a store of the chain hotel group, and the service quality is still standardized. This time it was passing through Shimonoseki, so I booked a single room next to Shimonoseki Station. The location of the hotel is very good, it can be reached by taking a 3-minute walk from Shimonoseki Station. It is very easy to find; The hotel's facilities are old, it should be a hotel that has been open for about 20 years, but the maintenance is very good, and there is a free breakfast; The sanitation of the hotel is also very good, the quilts, quilts, sheets, pillows and toilets are very clean. If you pass by next time, you will come to check in.
