A week after the explosion in Sri Lanka, it was discovered that this was a Muslim hotel when the gunmen inspected the vehicles in front of the door and the restaurant on the first floor. But the real stay is very good, comfortable and convenient. The bathroom lighting is designed with ingenuity. The most heartfelt thing is to check out and go out for a long time. The little brother in the hotel wearing a robe hit a tuk to catch up and return me to the balcony to charge. Mobile phone, thank you very much!

We were very well filled in the Guesthouse. Our room was very spacious and the hosts very nice. Unfortunately the WiFi did not work. At our request, a technician had been called, we didn't want to prepare the circumstance on a Sunday.

This is a small boutique hotel in Galle with just the perfect balcony room. Yes, it is expensive, they have European roomrates. But they also have a great service, lovely staf, a different style luxe breakfast and complementairy tea and cake served at your own balcony in the afternoon. The room was beautifull and the cinnamon smell was also really nice. We stayed newyears eve at this hotel, and then we recommend earplugs for the noise of the celebrating crowd. But from the hotel it was a short walk up to the clocktower to see the fireworks. The owners did a great job redoing this place and turning it into a really charming hotel. Eventhough the downstairs rooms are small and without any view. When we visit the rain spoiled a little bit of the fun, I can imagen that the hotel even looks better when you also can use the little terras viewing the ocean.

This was a beautiful hotel. The location is great because it is inside the Galle Fort. The staff was very friendly and the room was nice. There was air conditioning and a fan. The shower drain was a bit slow which caused the water to overflow a little. We only stayed here one night, but overall a lovely stay. Highly recommend.

This was our first time at Thambili House and we really enjoyed our stay. We have stayed at different properties by Edwards Collection and as before the service was excellent. We booked the Nutmeg suite. We were well taken care by Buddika and his staff including Sandeep who we have met before at The Far Pavilion. We highly recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for a calm relaxing holiday. The food was simply tasty and the quick dip in their plunge pool was awesome. Hope to go there again.

We visited Ahu Bay to celebrate our anniversary. It's a lovely small hotel for adults and older children (younger kids are not allowed). The rooms are small, but well appointed and very comfortable. We had a direct view of the ocean. The food was excellent. The pool was lovely, and a great place not just for a swim but to also to lounge around and read. The spa was good. The only negative was that the beach is not private AT ALL. Sri Lankan hotels don't generally have private beaches, but often at boutique hotels you get a lot of privacy at the beaches. But in this case there were men hanging around the area right outside our rooms, and it really felt intrusive. During the day every time we stepped onto the beach area there were 4-5 of them hanging around and starting at us, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Wish the hotel could come to some understanding with the locals about this. Other than that our stay was very enjoyable.

We stayed here in March 2024 and had a truly wonderful experience! We had a Dip Pool room which overlooked the jungle and the sea. You truly can watch the monkeys all around you whilst you dip! A magical experience! And the bird song…. Beautiful! We walked nearly every day down through the village to the most stunning beach area- quite often with no one or very few people on it! Walk back is up hill and sultry so take water! The hotel is as amazing as it is, due to the staff! Nothing is ever too much trouble ❤️ we were looked after wonderfully by the team but special thanks to Milinda, Sahan, Akila, Samira and kithmina. They were all so kind and attentive in making sure our stay was special. The food is great, we were half board and were happy to eat at the hotel. The chef, Mohan, was so kind in adapting some dishes for me as I’m pescatarian. Again nothing was too much trouble ❤️ Plenty to do in the area, or not if you’d prefer just to lie back and relax in the hotel. Literally my own criticism is they need more beds around the pool. 4 moveable beds with 2 umbrellas are fine but the built in beds, whilst a nice idea, are in the shade from 10:30 onwards.if the hotel is busy you’ll be in the shade all da. We at least had our room and pool if we couldn’t get a bed but not everyone has the option. I’ve never stayed at a hotel where the staff buy you a leaving gift, with such special thanks to Upeka for that! And also for being such a wonderful human and adding to the ‘special’ of this hotel! An amazing hotel, in a wonderful country with beautiful people ❤️

Gayan and his team were amazing. I’ve not had such homely service like this before in all my travels! They all went above and beyond to cater to all my needs and questions. The breakfast spread was vast and memorable, days after leaving its still all I think about! The room was spacious enough for me, though, do note noise from the road could be a hindrance to super light sleepers. I’d advise you have a room not close to the road. The hotel is serene and calm, giving of a relaxed and natural vibe in a bustling area. The change is welcomed after a long day out on the beach with people. 10/10 would return!

The hotel is located far from the center. When booking, I paid for the most expensive room with a sea view, as a result, upon arrival they tried to move me to the highest floor under the roof in a small room; the room had a strong smell of dampness. I went down and explained that I had paid for the most expensive room from the website and asked to be moved, my request was fulfilled. In general, the hotel is not bad, with a beautiful view, the food is delicious, they even made me a dish that was not on the menu, they asked if I wanted to dance in the evening, they took me to the center to a restaurant by the ocean where there was live music and dancing in the evening, they asked me to write when to pick it up and They arrived and brought us back to the hotel absolutely free of charge. I travel very often and move from one hotel to another, from one part of the island to another, in order to see everything as much as possible, and not sit in one place, if I like the hotel, I usually extend it for another one or several days, the website says check-in after 14 check-out before 12, the next day I was still sleeping in bed, from 9 am they started knocking hard on the door and trying to get me out of the room, different people came several times, at that moment I felt scared, they were knocking hard on the door, I barely had time to pack my bag and take a quick shower. To clarify why they kicked me out of my room in the morning, when I still have two hours until 12 o’clock, they told me on WhatsApp that check-out is before 10 am and they need to have time to prepare the room for the next guest, but no one told me about this before I didn’t report and the website says until 12 o’clock, so I’m giving a low rating for the service, it was very unpleasant, I’ve never seen anything like this in any hotel

We stayed at the 4 bed room penthouse. Absolutely stunning views. Sea on both sides. The apartment was furnished and also had all the amenities needed for a family of 10 to have all meals. The apartment is extremely spacious giving kids enough space to run around. The beach in front of the property is safe to go for a dip. There’s decent space for kids to enjoy the beach as well. The pool is cold as it always protected by the building’s shadow. But the kids enjoyed it regardless. Had a great memorable stay here. There’s a restaurant on the property. However we did not eat here. Just 10 mins by car to Galle fort.

Breakfast was lovely and prepared by Iflal,a manager. Swimming pool is cool. Located very near to Dutch Galle Fort. Near fruit market and local stores. You may take a tuk tuk or even asked a hotel to arrange everything for you. Could not thanks enough for mr. Iflal and his team. They made my stay was so comfortable and I feel safe like home. Ginganga Lodge
4.9/536 Reviews
Galle
|3.96km from city center
The winner of Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2019”, today the Ginganga Lodge is paying for a global pandemic and disastrous decisions made by the Government of Sri Lanka. It's a crying shame that Indika and his wife and all their staff should have to struggle to keep this property running. It deserves more. It deserves better. It deserves to be at full occupancy. When we walked in, we weren't sure we had made the right choice. The garden was overgrown and there was an aura around that made us uneasy. As we sat by the pool, we had very real reservations, seriously thinking about leaving. Then Mahil showed us our room. Talk about judging a book by its cover! The room was eclectic. Antique masks fought for space with antique jewelry boxes and huge flower arrangements (all flowers sourced from the garden). The room had a relaxing sitting area, shared with the adjoining room that encouraged social interactions. The AC soon had the room nice and cold. We stayed. Because of the room - and because of Mahil. Mahil went out of his way to make us feel at home. We could ask him whatever we wanted from the kitchen - and he made it happen and it was good. Mahil kept checking on us like he was our personal butler. A level of service we have rarely experienced anywhere else on our travels. He even organized an ice bucket for our evening tipple - the property serves beer, but not our favorite whisky, which we just happened to have packed! Indika and his wife, who own the property, have to be applauded for their effort to keep the property alive and kicking when all around them, the country went to pieces. Mismanagement by the Sri Lankan government on a colossal scale after the Global Pandemic had left the country reeling. The lack of fuel, medicines and gas had whatever local clientele Ginganga Lodge would have had, keep firmly away. Indika and Co., have faced impossible odds, and we believe they will come through with flying colours against those odds. They would do this because they have surrounded them with an excellent staff. The Chef made the most exquisite local cuisine and his Seafood Mixed Grill was worth every penny. We can't say enough about Mahil - he was ubiquitous, right at hand when ever you needed something. There were little niggles, of course there were. Some bulbs had blown. The power cuts plaguing the country plagued our stay (nothing to do with the property, but everything to do with the government - who also is rationing fuel so that the properties' generators couldn't run the way they should have). The sound-proofing in the rooms could be improved on... our room was right next-door to a couple who had just got married. Enough said! The garden could do with a slight trim and on our penultimate night the Tiki lamps ran out of juice. Are these niggles enough to stop off from recommending Ginganga Lodge? No. Visit the Ginganga Lodge. We are certain you would enjoy it. We did.

So many reviewsby people needing the assistance of the manager & staff. For what? One person said they had the manager's phone number to call 24/7. Why? Reception provide you with an information sheet. This hotel must have to deal with so many needy, ignorant, clueless people. Can't blame the hotel for having a generic response to reviews. All the staff at reception & restaurant were friendly, well trained & helpful. My room was clean & spacious. Wardrobe & a long shelf with minibar spirits, kettle & free water. Everything worked fine. Lighting was good. The balcony had a table & 2 chairs. The bed had clean linens, 4 pillows, 2 cushions & provided me with a comfortable sleep. There was a power point on one side. Breakfast was a buffet with an egg station so you won't go hungry. I had dinner one night at the restaurant having ordered yellow fin tuna which was very nice. Staff were attentive & provided excellent service. The pool is a decent size & well maintained. Overall, I had an enjoyable & comfortable experience at what is a true 3 star hotel.

This hotel was a replacement at the end of our Secret Escapes tour of Sri Lanka. We spent 5 nights here and it is something of a mixed bag. The location right on a beautiful beach is incredible. It has a stunning swimming pool offering shade or sun at all times of the day. It is very isolated and quiet with just 28 rooms. The staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. On the flip side, it doesn’t rate as 5*. Probably just 4*. The food is little better than average. A bizarre selection of dishes and none of it served piping hot. The staff are a bit like having 11 strikers in a football team. A keen to drive the ball home but without the solidity to really pull it off - nothing that a bit of training couldn’t cure. Some guests have expressed concern about the vendors on the beach. These people do not hassle you and are lovely and pleasant and have a living to earn. Buy clothes or coconuts from them but don’t trust them for a tuk tuk or a tour. Outside the front gate is the house of a lovely guy and his family - Ashela - he can most certainly be trusted. Drinks are great value, the bar staff clearly the most experienced of the people on show and to give them their due as it is post pandemic perhaps many of them are new? During our visit we had 15 hour power cuts and a escalation of state of emergency and the staff did their very best to keep everyone comfortable.

They were also very concerned about the 2.5 year old with us & made sure that his food was prepared early. The villa itself was super gorgeous & breathtaking! The pool & the views were just amazing! We stayed here as part of a 3 week tour around Sri Lanka which included several hotels, and Suite Lanka was a real stand out. The location is great, with both Galle & Colombo in easy reach. The position, with the beach just a few steps away from the rooms across the hotel’s private garden, means you can easily wander along the beach to choose where to eat. But that’s not really necessary as the food at Suite Lanka is delicious - fantastic fresh seafood and local dishes as you’d expect, but also more than enough options to satisfy different tastes. Our room was fab - large and airy, comfortably furnished, with the perfect view across the beach to the sea from the huge private balcony. And the staff did a great job of making sure we had a great time - from tweaking menu options to suit our individual tastes, to opening the TV room at 1:45am so I could watch a football match. They strike exactly the right balance between being there to help whenever needed and not being intrusive. After a busy couple of weeks exploring this lovely country, Suite Lanka was the perfect place to recharge, enjoying great food and service, and soaking up the very relaxed and luxurious feel.

A decent hotel with a good beach and responsive staff. A beautiful view from the room (if you take the ocean view). From the downsides - the road passes right behind the hotel. Although the hotel and the beach are fenced, the noise is heard, especially lying on the beach ... interrupts even the noise of the slot. But this is a problem as I understand the whole south-west coast.. On the day of departure was early check-out, staff had prepared breakfast. and gave it with them.

There is no hot water. I don't know if it is raining or what is the reason, there is no hot water when taking a shower.

Amazing old colonial house turned boutique hotel. Amazing setting where we saw the monkeys playing in the trees and our alarm clock was the peacocks chatting. Lovely setting about 10mins from the main town. Lovey small 4 bedroom boutique. Amazing staff who will always help you with whatever you need. Nice breakfasts and met some lovely guests there too. Nice pool area where you can spend your time. Would recommend for couples of families.

First of all, I really like this hotel. The owner is a designer. His thoughts are in every corner of the room, exquisite and clean. There is also a hotel and a tea shop. The owner is very kindly invited to visit. I can’t stop and keep taking pictures. Sure enough, the designer’s house is different. I get up in the morning to wash and go to have breakfast. It’s the kind of sitting down and asking your preferences. I will cook it for you on the spot. It’s really great. Yes, black tea juice and fruit are also very happy as appetizers, but I am leaving now, otherwise I really want to stay a few more days. Dear Kumar, I have a wonderful time in your inn, I love it so much Thans for your service and thanks for your excellent design, I will strongly recommend your hotel to my every single friend, I am sure that they will enjoy this leisure time .Many thx

The hotel's beach is good, the restaurant is good, the staff is helpful, but the rooms are of course and the building is willing to repair and care. The first room looked straight at the huge garbage, the shower didn't work and the folder air conditioner. We changed, but on the balconies, forgive me, at night the rats run... I want to recommend a local guide separately - Prasad +94 78 470 0761 You can write directly in the wotsap, speaks in Russian, perfectly conducts individual tours, Excellent transfer, shows the best locations with comfort for adequate price, and the photo does as a real profile! Prasad is the best, recommended!

We were recently meant to stay at the heritage hotel for 1 night, but unfortunately the room had issues. The manager was very accomodating and already found us another hotel to stay at. The room was lovely and spacious. He also gave us a bottle of wine and encouraged us to come for lunch and dinner. He made good of a bad situation, which we are very grateful of. Definitely recommend this hotel for the service and hospitality.

Everything, right from the welcome till check out!! Calm and cool beach property. Well arranged all things. Super place for a holiday. Spacious nice room, great breakfast, big pool, enough sun beds for everybody. All of the staff is clearly willing to make your stay comfortable. The long stretch of private beach is right in front of the hotel and we enjoyed a refreshing swim in the sea each day. And also we loved watching the sun sets each evening. Most beautiful swimming pool and well maintained. The hotel location was very nice and we got a room with sea view. Room was very much spacious, clean, comfortable and nicely arranged. Staffs are super friendly, cleanliness is good. Bathroom was equipped with all necessary amenities. The food was great. Breakfast so delicious and filling more varieties. We had satisfy each meal time selecting our meal and it was tasty. Check in and out was really convenient. after seeing a few other properties personally we realized that this was the best decision to stay at Oasey. Just no regrets. Prices are reasonable. Great value for money. We had a pleasant stay and would love to visit again. Thank you to everyone who made our stay special. Yes, we will back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay at the R Degrees Boutique Hotel after having spent the previous nine days living out of a suitcase while travelling around the south of Sri Lanka. The room was excellent, overlooking the sea, and had its own veranda and a lawn out front where we ate dinner every evening. On our first evening, after initially being presented with a menu dominated by western dishes, the Chef and his staff went out of their way to provide us with a true Sri Lankan eating experience every other evening. The quality of the food was excellent and the Chef is very happy to discuss your dietary preferences and conjure up some delicious meals to suit. I can personally recommend the crab curry, which was excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and looked after us very well. We were able to take full advantage of the excellent facilities at the R Degrees, and we have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone travelling to this part of Sri Lanka, and looking to chill by the sea.

The villa complex with the restaurant pool and spa occupies a slope of altitude in the distance of the sea and the vault. From the top, the view of the jungle and rice fields is open. The space inside is thought out with a fine taste and sense . By passing the huge gate of the stone wall you get into a special world where everything is happening for you and for your comfort and pleasure. Excellent food, children refused to have dinner elsewhere, well we were not against. Spa procedure at the highest level. The massage was done to me by Dulib, he was doing yoga classes in the morning. I thought to take him with me;). Our Butler Taranga is a very pleasant man-a good, the children loved him. Jesse is a local polyglot, though not our batter, very helpful in the case, for example, took us to the dive club and traded on the market. Managing Umberto, an Italian with a special view of what service should be in the hotel. He is constantly and unintrusively present somewhere near that is not normal . Having accompanied us at 5 a.m. Everything and in everybody feels a special approach and attitude towards your person! Cooks, rumservices, even cleaners and guards are very friendly and create an atmosphere of the highest comfort.

We had the most magical stay at Villa Saffron and it couldn't have been more perfect. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! It's such a beautiful place - both the villa itself and the setting are spectacular. The room, shared areas and garden were always very clean and tidy, and we ended up spending far more time in the villa and garden than we had planned because it was just so idyllic. We were in the Garden Room which was lovely and spacious, and there was always enough hot water for the showers (the only place we stayed in Sri Lanka where the hot water didn't run out!). There was some noise from the road which didn't bother us and the air con blocked it out, but if you are a light sleeper maybe choose one of the other beautiful rooms. The food was fantastic, with such a great range of options. We even arranged to have a cookery lesson with the chef so we can replicate the great Sri Lankan food at home! We were so well looked after the whole time we were there. Sunil and his team did a fantastic job of looking after us - it felt more like staying with an old friend! They were always very attentive and went out of their way to make our stay special. This was the last hotel we stayed in on our honeymoon in Sri Lanka, and I mentioned my disappointment at how none of the other hotels had done anything special. Sunil and the team decorated our room with flowers, and we had a romantic sunset dinner on the beach. It was the perfect way to end our honeymoon and it couldn't have been better! I only wish we could have stayed longer. If you're staying around Hikkaduwa, make sure you stay here. You won't regret it. Thank you so much Sunil and the team, we can't thank you enough ❤️

This is clearly an old hotel which has renovated some rooms which are bright and as shown on photos. However much more renovation and maintenance is needed. The lift was not working and from reviews has not worked for many months. The black floor tiles are worn down to the white porcelain in the most used areas. The stair walls are dirty. The restaurant is fully glass windows and in need of cleaning as are the corridor windows. There were only 10 sunbeds for a hotel with 50 rooms ! No sunshade so you try to get in the shadow of the palm trees. The paving area around the pool is in need of power washing. The pool changing room/toilet walls are in need of painting. Bed sheets and towels were changed only 3 times in 2 weeks when we requested them to be changed. The toiletries are not often replaced. The shower glass doors are not cleaned nor are the room doors to the balcony or the glass panels on the balcony. Tea and coffee making facilities not always replaced and we never got coffee sachets. The second floor housekeeping cupboard door is badly damaged and gives a feeling of neglect. This hotel could be ranked higher if more money is invested and renovation/maintenance undertaken. The hotel is used by Russian charter holiday customers. The hotel allow day entry travelling parties to enter who use the pool in their outdoor wear. On a positive note the staff are courteous and helpful
