3.47km from Klaus BiertimpelNote, this visit was during the corona pandemic so not all services were as usual. First of all, I arrived after 6pm which meant the reception was unmanned. But the hotel had sent me clear instructions on how to access a safe box and extract a house/room key. No problem. My room was on the second floor and the stay was at the end of a heat wave. The room was very hot and the portable fan which they had thoughtfully put in the room was not entirely adequate to the task of keeping one cool. To be fair, they did offer me the opportunity to move rooms. I understand that this level of heat/humidity is rare in Hamburg and I wouldn't expect the rooms to have air conditioning. I would however expect the minibar to make tings cold. Heat can be tolerated with cold drinks but the minibar kept things only tepid. But the minibar prices are very reasonable and not extortionate like in some hotels. The room was well appointed and I would guess quite recently refurbished. Everything was to a high standard. My one wish is that the big towel in the bathroom was a bit bigger. As a single traveller, I don't expect 2 big towels but it would be nice if the big towel could make it all the way around ones waist. The breakfast was very good. The usual buffet was not available but the choice was good and plentiful and served with the alacrity one expects in German hotels. It is nice to be greeted daily by name. The restaurant in the hotel serves Syrian cuisine in the evening. Frankly, that's not my favourite kind of food. I'd be more inclined to dine in the hotel if the style of cuisine was less niche. All in all a well run family hotel and highly recommended.
