This hotel is an absolute steal. Clean, unique, comfortable pushing luxurious. Staff was 4 seasons good - breakfast was better. We were here the first 2 nights of a 15 day trip. They took care of us and our piles of luggage. I travel a fair bit for work and have stayed in hotels all over the US and Canada - almost exclusively big chains. This hotel is a strong rep for the Boutique side of hotel offerings. A side note about the area - traveled with my wife and adult daughter (trip was her college grad present) and we walked everywhere we went - including back at dusk from the Acropolis area. There were still plenty of people on the streets and at no time did we feel unsafe.

This hotel is a great deal for what you pay. The owners are very courteous and helpful. The bed and linen is clean. Room is spotless. No smoke smell. The only 2 downsides I had was a outlet didn't work and the hair drier didn't want to turn off lol. Other than that though the area is central so walking to it is no problem. I kept seeing reviews say it was in a sketchy area but it looked safe to me when we came back at midnight. The wifi is decent enough to download some items and stream videos. Overall a very good price for what your getting.

Very good experience! The front desk is friendly. She upgraded me to a double bed, even though I live alone. There's a bar and jacuzzi on the roof. Bath supplies are complete. Eye masks and earplugs are also provided. The decor is vintage and tasteful, with a record and a record player in the room. Breakfast dishes are extensive, with Greek yogurt and honey as well as Greek salad and feta, which are delicious.

Pros: Spacious rooms with comfortable bed, a safe deposit, mini fridge and bathroom amenities Very friendly and helpful staff Great view of the Acropolis from the roof top bar which has a small pool The drinks were excellent at the bar Great location-near 2 metro stations (you can get to and from the airport easily), near one of the main squares with shopping and a easy walk to the main historic sites password protected wi-fi! Cons: The streets off the main are not the nicest so using caution at night The shower is marble tiled without a properly sealing door so it was very loud and water leaked every time.

The hotel is 2mins walk away from Omonia metro station. Super convenient to get to major sightseeing locations. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel’s immediate surroundings aren’t the most pleasant looking but hey, if you’re willing to overlook that, Athens Tiare Hotel is a good choice. Pros - value for money, comfortable good sized rooms, metro station nearby, good breakfast spread Cons - immediate surroundings of the hotel is grimy

I am 62. I believe anyone over the age of 28 who uses the word ‘cool’ should be fined £100 and be forced to do community service.

So although I did not expect to necessarily dislike the funky, modern, c**l design of this hotel, I thought it might bug me and I’d feel rather out of place staying here. But that wasn’t the case it all: it’s a great place to stay and I loved it. I was given a generous MB welcome by the friendly bar staff when we checked in (which I appreciated very much) and everything was ready for our arrival so it only took moments until we were heading up to our room. The lifts work, all the time, and they arrive quickly when you call them. The rooms are modern, spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean and relaxing. The view over Omonia square, its small sunny garden and fountains, was great. The aircon was quiet but very effective (34 outside). The bathroom had plenty of shelf space; the shower was not only powerful and hot, it didn’t leak water all over the floor like most hotel showers do.

Of course you only get six hangers but that’s as much as any hotel gives you these days, so you have to live out of your suitcase. There’s no drawers to put anything away but I was so relaxed, I didn’t care. There is a small safe, which is located at floor level by the bed: this is totally impractical and I had to lie on the floor to see what I was doing, but it didn’t annoy me at all (which is amazing).

Housekeeping was discreet but reliable and extremely thorough.

Room rates are very reasonable and the location is fantastic, just 20 metres from the metro exit (two stops from the Airport metro line), with a few bars, restaurants and cafes on Omonia square itself. (The area is perfectly safe: there’s a few rough sleepers but that’s a city-wide issue. We came back around 1.30am one morning and did not feel at all uncomfortable). It’s an easy 15/20 minute walk to Syntagma etc., there’s a Great bakery/coffee shop next door for breakfast and a few all night refreshment stalls selling ice cold drinks and snacks.

All in all, I really enjoyed our short stay at the Moxy and you will too, even if you’re as old and grumpy as I am.

This apartment has lots of benefits and one major drawback. It’s well located for walking to all the major sites and for public transport. The penthouse is spacious with a bathroom that has a good sized shower and another bathroom which is a toilet and sink. The kitchen had a small dishwasher, oven, fridge. There was no toaster. There was a master bedroom with a queen sized bed, desk and wardrobe. The other bedroom had a double with a wardrobe. There was a pull out sofa (not comfortable) in the lounge. There were three televisions. The tvs were smart tvs but none of the functions worked and barely any English channels. The wifi is slow. The major drawback is the rooftop restaurant directly above. All night long you hear chairs being scraped along the floor because they are wrought iron (You would think they could put some felt pads on the legs). Plus you can hear the music and people talking in the stairs directly outside the penthouse entrance (so rude). The restaurant oversees the penthouse terrace so diners are staring into your private area making it impossible to enjoy. Also bottles, napkins, cutlery and receipts are always falling into it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Klepsydra Suites. We had booked two rooms - one for my husband and my son (11 years old) and one for my daughter (14 years old) and myself. The hotel is very centrally located in walking distance to almost everything - Monastiraki is a five minute walk away. The rooms are renovated, fresh and clean. The beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are modern and clean. One of our rooms had a little kitchen and a seating/lounging area. Coffee and tea making facilities are provided. Drinks in the room bar fridge are reasonably priced, a welcome surprise. Our rooms were facing to the back, looking at another building wall. This made the rooms quite dark with little daylight, but also very quiet. Outside of the hotel is a little kiosk that sells almost everything. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars just outside. The reception staff are friendly and most helpful. We had to ask several times for extra towels, soaps and shampoos, which were always promptly provided. The elevator goes from the mezzanine floor to floor 4. So it's good to know that for floors 5 and 6 and up to the mezzanine you have to carry the suitcases.

So gracious and helpful! The hotel is a sweet little boutique hotel in a perfect location and very safe. Two blocks from Monastiraki Plaka and the Flea Market, which is at the base of the Acropolis. This Plaka is also where you can get the Hop on Hop off bus- tickets we got at the hotel. Totally renovated, compact room with all that you need. Only complaint, they could have extended the bathroom counter so we could put things there. Our room was on the street but still very quiet. The breakfast is optional - we didn’t partake but it looked fresh and plentiful. We had two nights here before a cruise and after our cruise we had 12 hours before our flight so they wonderfully held our bags (no charge) for us so we could explore some more of Athens . They were so accommodating , arranging transfers and mailing postcards for us. Bottom line, fabulous experience.

This hotel was a good value with a very friendly staff. Be sure to request a higher floor room ending in 02 for a great view of the Parthenon! Being recently renovated, we were very pleased with our room. The air conditioning cooled well, without requiring a room card being inserted. The area around the hotel left a little to be desired. This hotel is located right next door to a sister hotel - The Athenaeum Palace. Syngrou is a busy street without much commercial shopping or stores. There was a little convenience store hut about 40 yards away, and a decent little Italian and a Greek restaurant about 150 yards away. While there appeared to be a bus stop and an underground street crossing in front of the hotel, we did not use it. A taxi to the Plaka was about 6 euros without traffic and 12 euros with traffic. Breakfast was nice with a full continental option, as well as scrambled eggs and cooked bacon/ ham. The hotel has a powerful hair dryer. The lobby has a ramp, but a handrail for the stairs to the breakfast area for folks with accessibility needs.

When I was younger, I spent two weeks in Greece to visit various places on the Peloponnese peninsula, but up until this year, I had never been to Athens before. I am someone who likes to explore places, and I often do not have day by day plans - but the one thing that is always important for me is a good base, a place to come back to in the late afternoon or evening to relax. I generally am not into nightlife, so I usually spend evenings in my accommodation - so I try to make sure to book a good place. I was tempted to go for a cheaper option, but after the last few years and all the stress, I decided to treat myself. Why earn all that money if I don’t use it right? I spent nine days in the Academias Hotel in Athens. I chose it because the location seemed ideal on a map. Fortunately, the reality also was not a disappointment. I visited the Acropolis a couple of times. It takes about 20-30 minutes to walk there, but I also saw that there are bus connections if you do not like to walk (I LOVE walking, because you also get to see more of the places and can sometimes come across interesting shops, parks, etc.). I could go on about places that are within easy reach, but you’re probably more interested in the hotel itself! The check-in was easy and I felt very welcome. There wasn’t a grumpy staff member in sight (hotel staff in certain places in the UK could learn from that friendliness!). I tried to impress with my few sentences of Greek that I learned, but fortunately, staff in this hotel has no problem with other languages. Not once during my stay did I have an issue with staff. They were all polite and respectful. The big plus for me also was that they did not annoy me. Friendly yes, but they did not make me feel harassed like it can happen in other hotels. While I did obviously check out photos of the hotel in advance before I booked, I was pleasantly surprised by my room (I booked a room with a king-sized bed). Everything was very clean, and there were BOOKS on the shelves. That was really a nice touch, I think. The bathroom was HUGE, and let me tell you: the showers are awesome. You’ll really appreciate a good shower after an active day in Athens, especially in summer! It was lovely! The room was nice and I had lots of space. The writing desk was perfect because I’m a writer and always in need of such a space! There was even a nice little coffee machine. Of course, also the usual stuff like a TV (with Netflix access!), shampoos, all the stuff you’d expect from a high quality hotel. The hotel has a lot to offer in addition to your actual room. There is a gym (I didn’t use that, I didn’t go on holiday to work out) and also a spa if you are into that. Worth a mention is the food as well. There’s a great restaurant with excellent views - and the food is just as excellent, which makes this a wonderful eating experience. Breakfast was also excellent, I really can’t complain. If you feel like trying something else, there are also plenty of restau

The apartment is quite modern and clean. The hotel was very comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable. The only problem I met in this apartment was the shower architecture, because the water was overlooking because the shower floor is the bathroom floor. Then the shower flex is not very well set up because the water was also flowing from it, but it was not disturbing because I used the shower head rather than the shower.

We have a reasonable price upgrade to a large suite with a balcony with a kitchen sink and a separate hand washing bathroom. We bought a gift at the gift shop downstairs and also called the front desk into the room. The picture video was taken, but unfortunately transferred to the hard disk. I don’t write a lot of reviews but the staff at 12 Keys Athens Apartments have been so extraordinary that I felt compelled to do so. Manos, Yannis and the lovely young lady that works with them went above and beyond for us from the minute we arrived until now as we are (regrettably) leaving. Their genuine kindness, helpfulness and professional courtesy are truly amazing. Perfect hosts! The building itself is modern, stylish and perfectly cared for. We had the fourth (top) floor apartment and loved our rooms and outdoor spaces (three really great balconies PLUS the beautiful rooftop). We can see the magnificent Parthenon (stunning when lit up at night) and the vibrant neighborhood has a lot within walking distance, making it ideal for us. I can’t recommend this place enough and would absolutely stay here again when visiting Athens!

The front desk and the cleaning aunt were very polite, but they seemed to lack some professionalism. The facilities that the hotel could provide were not clearly stated. Every time they needed to go to the front desk to ask. The room is large, but there are beds, wardrobes, TVs and TV cabinets, tables and chairs. It feels suitable to sleep overnight, but if it is a travel room, it is a little inconvenient, and it is not convenient to want to heat things. There is no hot water bottle. The decoration is still possible, and the bathroom has unlimited hot water. The front desk did not take the initiative to remind us of the breakfast time and place, resulting in us staying for four days without breakfast. Maybe I am used to the hotel taking the initiative to remind guests of the meal. This time, no one told us, resulting in us looking at the bill to find that our consumption included breakfast. All in all, it is a renovation, hotel location, and basic overnight environment All good hotels, but still a lot of shortcomings worth improving.

Design of the shower is not the best as water leaks out make the bathroom floor wet. Buffet breakfast has a great selection of local type food and view of the acropolis. The Athens city centre is quite run down in general so although the neighbourhood don't feel that great I'm not sure if it's particular to this hotel or just Athens city centre in general.

A new hotel in the heart of Kolonaki, Athens' well-to-do district, the Modernist is a great blend of amenities and service. The hotel opened the week I visited and I expected there to be a few kinks to work out, but there were none! Service is wonderful, staff proactively asked what we needed, from carafes of sparkling water that they brought to the room on request any time of day, to laundry and other things. They also were very keen to know how they were doing, considering they were new. Breakfast is delightful, with a a creative mix of traditional Greek things and other international food. COVID setup is hygienic and efficient. We had a large room, which is not particularly large but has spectacular balconies overlooking the park across the street and with views of Lycabettus Hill. Windows are isolated and do a good job of keeping out the Athenian noise. Finally, the upstairs roof deck is a real delight, quiet, private, with a fantastic view of the Acropolis, and with a telephone to order drinks from downstairs. It's like being at the Hilton Bar across the street, but not paying 20 euros for cocktails. All told, a great start and a wonderful find, I wish the staff all the best of luck!

Was so happy to experience this facility in Greece. Wonderful people and excellent service. Will visit again if we get to go back to Greece. Our room was spacious and clean and daily service was available, a service that is so rare while traveling.

Agree with all the positive comments, and can’t add any negative one. First, have to thank Soula and the staff at the gelato shop where you first arrive, all very helpful, friendly, and truly caring for you to enjoy your stay. Soula is a rock star, she makes you feel like family, like she truly cares for you, she’s amazing. Her going above and beyond expectations started when we returned from siteseeing after we had stored our bags due to our very early arrival from our cruise. We were nicely surprised to find our bags had been moved into the apartment. Then, to top that off, we had cold water and fruits waiting for us, a thoughtful touch to give us energy for our afternoon. As far as the apartment, we had the top floor (6th) which required a few stairs after the elevator, not bad, but something to think about. We chose that apartment because it’s the one with the outdoor patio. However, we never really used the patio during our two nights, mainly because it doesn’t face the Parthenon and the windows in the room open completely to that incredible view making you feel like the whole apartment is a balcony. Noticed some of the other rooms also face the Parthenon and have the great windows in case you don’t think you’ll use the balcony, I think one or two the same size as the one on the 6th, savings would be worth the extra research

It is located in the hearth of the city and close to many restaurants, shops and archeological sites. It is pretty basic basic, but has more-less everything you need for short stay and clean. My room was o decent size with comfortable bed with bathroom on rather smallish side. There was a kettle and safe box in the room. The breakfast was nice, variety of dishes, with some nice local options. The staff was professional and nice.

Stayed with my wife at Athenstyle for 4 days in a double ensuite room. Unbeateable location in a lively neighborhood full of cafes, bars, tavernas. Short walking distance to all attractions and night life. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Our room was in the second building across the street and had a balcony. Very clean and comfortable. Rooftop bar with amazing view of Acropolis and the city. Last but not least Chris is a great host made our stay even more enjoyable with many tips and recommendations.

I stayed here for 5 days during a family half term brake, the apartment hotel was great as we had two rooms that could accommodate all of us, the staff at the hotel were amazing and friendly and the rooms were spotless and cleaned daily with fresh towels everyday, the chef at breakfast always asked us what we wanted and supplied a fantastic breakfast every day, on the whole we had a great experience and look forward to staying with them again soon, we walked to the centre of town in 20-25 mins and enjoyed the old buildings, excellent value for money staying here as it’s a great place run by great people thanks again to you all.

The hotel is fantastic. The most fantastic things is Themi, Ada and the Filippino Girl (sorry forgot the name) in no particular order. So so nice, friendly and welcoming. They are the friends one would want! They are really a nice team. The hotel is beautiful renovated mixing old and new features. Concrete and old stone. Nice design. Clean and impeccable in order. Hotel is a stone away from 2 metro stations (one of which is the acropolis), Plaka, Monastiraki etc. PS Can I make one small suggestion? It would be nice to make available self charging water stations (even one in the restaurant). Most recent hotels nowadays have one. And buying a plastic one late at night after a day sightseeing might not be convenient. Hope to see you soon! Stephan xxx

The place is in the city centre and is worth the price, do not expect big porch as its in the city centre, its in the by lanes and has small cafes and bars on your way. Very close to OMONOIA SQUARE & SYNTAGMA SQUARE. The staff especially DARIA was very helpful and understanding, the breakfast is good. Overall a very good experience. Would suggest this place for a budget but amazing stay. It is walkable to most of the historic sites, everything is in the vicinity of 3-4 kms Made me feel unsafe when i first seen trucks of riot police parked on the road outside with police on entrance to every lane… but then as days passed it was safe, you feel scared as there are by lanes which are dark and you need to pass through some junkies(they are in their own world) You could go book a ferry for santorini or go island hoping, HOP on HOP OFF buses,Toy Train city tour, There is Experience park free for all near Ellinikos also you have shore line and beaches.
