The Ameron Davos Hotel is gorgeous and really clean. We had a beautiful stay for a week-end. The pool is nice, but the spa area is a little tiny. Everything in the Hotel is really fancy. BUT, the restaurant is not good at all. We ate for two hours and no one came to ask us if we needed anything. Furthermore, it was really difficult to reach a waitress to ask something. For instance, it takes more than 10 min to replace the stove of our fondue... We were also really disappointed about the wine. We order a Merlot from Graubünden, a 70.- CHF bottle. And what a surprise, we receive a 12.- CHF bottle, the exact same as you can find at Denner in the other side of the road. This is really disrespectful for clients. I highly recommend this Hotel for you stay, but take the dinner outside ;)

The hotel is located in the middle of the two train stations. It takes about 15 minutes to walk, but there are buses that can get under the hotel and buses are more frequent. Good breakfast, cereal coffee, etc., you can make waffles yourself, if you want to eat fried eggs or boiled eggs, you need to tell the staff. The hygiene is very clean.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is perfectly located in the center of the Davos village. Rooms are big, with modern furniture and very clean. The hotel offers free parking in the garage (maybe in high (winter season) places are limited, but when we went there was plenty), which in Davos is really a plus, expecially when compared to other structures with similar quality. Restaurant in the structure is really good, for both breakfast and dinner, and the evening 4-course menù is really convenient. Overall, we really got more than expected for the reasonable price we've paid. Will come back for sure when in Davos

For stays of 3 nights or more, half-board can be ordered.Free WiFi access is available in all areas of the property and guests also have free access to the small business centre with a computer and a printer. The Parsennbahn funicular takes you to the ski area in just 4 minutes. Start your day at the rich breakfast buffet and enjoy the tasty and varied half-board meals (available for stays of 3 nights or more). You will certainly enjoy the elegant atmosphere in the hotel's restaurant with its traditional silverware. The cuisine in the cosy Parsenn Stübli tavern is healthy and varied, and includes regional specialities. The hotel has a gorgeous modern luxe feel with a stunning lobby area, often with a pianist playing in the evening. The breakfast room is also stunning with panoramic windows and lots of light. The food was everything you could want at breakfast, hot and cold; plenty of space for everyone, no waiting around. We never ate dinner at the hotel (fussy child!) but there are a good few places nearby where you can eat although I'd recommend booking ahead for busy periods. The staff were friendly and helpful, always working with a smile and making us feel welcome. The rooms are massive and nicely decorated with plenty of space for your ski gear. We picked this hotel because it was close to the P****nn ski lift. In fact, it is right next door. The hotel has a boot room in the basement, and there are two ski hire shops right there (Intersport and a local shop). It couldn't have been easier or better located for a ski holiday. If you're deciding between Davos Dorf (where this hotel is) and Davos Stadt close to the Jakobshorn lift, I found that P****nn is more versatile for blues and easy reds; Jakobshorn has small beginner slopes but then everything else is more advanced, if that helps. We're confident we picked the right hotel for a luxe family ski holiday. You won't go wrong here.

We have just returned from 6 nights and overall really enjoyed our stay. We had a small issue with our room, we had booked a suite, but newly appointed General Manager Mr. Rütti swiftly found a solution, not an easy task when the hotel is fully booked - so thank you very much and it was honour to meet such an accomplished Hotelier. We thought the location was very good, the (amazing) skating rink is just across the street and down the hill. If you are skiing you are in-between both ski-lifts. The hotel shuttle is a bit tricky, the drivers try their best but often very full. We learned quickly to not rely on it - walk or bus it. We ate three times at the in-house Romeo & Juliet restaurant, food & service very -the Apricot Schnapps is worth trying. Generally, the team is very nice, from breakfast to dinner, they try their hardest. I loved the fact that the F&B team includes some real personalities who were happy to have little chats and share their recommendations - fabulous. The Breakfast room manager runs the room so well, there is always a table ready. The Lounge is very spacious and nice atmosphere with live piano music for the pre-dinner drink. Housekeeping is very friendly and thorough - you will not find the tiniest piece of rubbish on the miles of carpet ... And our children certainly appreciated all the little Toblerones on their pillows. Considering this hotel team has gone from a very long year of very few guests to fully booked, it did an amazing job to make sure they get it right for all their guests. This hotel has buckets of history and charm but like many other Grand Hotels, might be a bit tired. I agree, the carpets should go and the bathrooms could be brought into the 21st century but if you choose to stay at a Grand Hotel, you need to move beyond, think differently and enjoy.

We stayed here for 4 nights post-Christmas. Since we flew into MXP from the US and took a car service out to Davos, we arrived at the hotel around 11am. The super helpful front desk could see that the kids were exhausted and rushed getting the assigned room cleaned immediately and enabled us to check-in early. We saw the same level of high customer service from all the hotel staff during the visit. Pros: - location is great. 2 min walk to the main Promenade where you will find restaurants, banks, public bus stop, grocery stores, etc. - massive variety for the breakfast buffet (no extra charge for hotel guests), that includes an omelet station. They bake the pastries and breads on premise and serve warm - we ate at the hotel restaurant one night and it was probably the best meal we had in Davos. The price was roughly similar to our other dinners in Davos (sfr 50 per person) - can buy ski passes at the front desk for the same price as at the resort ticket windows - super convenient since the resort ticket windows are super long - reasonably priced ski rentals on premise, which makes it very convenient as well - ski locker room (including heated boot racks) with a doorway right onto the shuttle parking - ski shuttle every 30 min that drops you right off at the gondola entrance at the ski resorts (very little walking needed) - rotating apres ski snack daily (crepes, fresh baked cakes, oysters, etc), which is something that the kids looked forward to every afternoon - hotel rooms are simple, spacious enough, have plenty of amenities, and most importantly, VERY CLEAN. They restock the complimentary room mini bar daily, which includes sodas, waters and beers - we didn’t use it but the spa is apparently one of the best in Davos - the entire cost of our hotel bill was a great value by American ski resort standards. We have stayed at far more expensive hotels with 1/2 the service that we received at Sunstar The hotel is a 4-star due to the simple decorations and does not have a luxurious ambiance. However, it was a 5-star experience for our family and we highly recommend to anyone looking for clean, convenient and great value!

Perfect location! The rooms were spacious, new with very high 4 star rating. Service was also 5 star. They had challenges with the warm water system during the stay, which was a problem. But, they handled it in a perfect way. They gave one day for free and also invited us to a mingle/drink in the lobby. So, all in all we had a great stay. The only thing that the hotel lacks is a SPA. Else all would have been 5 star.

I spent 6Nbath in this hotel during a business trip. Location: Located in the middle of Davos as the ideal starting point for sports activities. Furthermore, a variety of restaurants are walking-in accessible. Guest friendliness: The staff is helpful and friendly. Rooms: The room was clean and the bed very comfortable - there was absolutely nothing to challenge. Breakfast: Breakfast as the only critical point of the stay. The buffet is very spartanian and lacks essential foods such as vegan milk alternatives and a wider range of healthy muslims. However, the staff has made breakfast a pleasant day, very careful and quick. All in all, I recommend this hotel.

We searched for a central Davos Platz hotel with charm and an inside pool. And basically found it, but hey the charm comes at a price. For the current price level we'd recommend giving it a miss. The charm is of course partly due to the age; it's a 19th century Grand Hotel with lots of wings and memories. E.g. an elevator with benches to sit on is lovely! Pool/fitness/sauna also great, with mountain views during the swim/exercising. Nice free ticket for the nextdoor funicular if staying 2 nights or more, and the handy Davos/Klosters Premium pass too. The rooms already are more of a mixed blessing. We had a Superior one, and both the sheer size of the room and the large balcony with deck chairs were impressive. As were the large double bed and the TV/Wifi. But the bathroom looked and felt 40-50 years old for most parts, except two new mirrors (two sinks, great!) with digital clock of which one was already broken. Bath tub old and worn-out, and that sink either gave a too hot or a too cold shower. Some other elements of the room also really need serious refurb, like a wardrobe with broken hinge; the design of the wardrobe and TV cupboard isn't great either when you want to store and (un)pack luggage, and the room looked always dark due to lack of enough lights. Staff were generally friendly and helpful, e.g. Reception. BUT if the room door has a sign outside 'do not disturb' (as we were out for breakfast, and wanted to arrange towels for keep/change after that) and the cleaners simply came into our room (I guess after knocking) and did the cleaning with the wrong info on the towels – a huge shame, rude and lack of proper attitude! And probably the biggest BUT for the whole hotel: for advertising as 4 star, and having that price level, one serves full breakfast (American/English) with hot dishes. _Not_ just continental breakfast with a decent offering of bread and cheese and jam (but limited cereals); as it was quiet the 2nd day we asked the waiter for boiled eggs and he brought them made-to-order, but it's unclear whether this was an extra or a normal part of the breakfast. Overall: too much homework for the hotel to be worth 4 stars currently, more 2-3 stars.
