Hotels Near L'Anciova In Palermo
0.09km from L'AnciovaThis B&B was the best decision ever. The location was prime since everything was walkable from here. Especially the Teatro Massimo, which was just 2 minutes away. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. They provided us with the towels, body wash and shampoo. They even put together a good breakfast for you in the morning. The bathroom was regularly cleaned. I think what really made the experience 5-star were the hosts - Guglielmo and Luigi! They were so accommodating and helpful, they catered to our every need and even gave us some incredible food recommendations. Our stay in Palermo was amazing and it was all thanks to their graciousness and hospitality. They even texted us before our flight to check in on us, gave us instructions on how to get there and asked us to text him when we land since he would be waiting for us to arrive. I would definitely recommend everyone to check in to Liola.

0.14km from L'AnciovaMy friend and I stayed at Casa Nostra for three nights while we visited Palermo. The hotel seemed newly renovated and the rooms were spacious, unique, and elegantly decorated. The staff was friendly, free breakfast was provided, and the WiFi worked well. However, I would not recommend this hotel to other travelers- especially those who are not familiar with Palermo or cannot speak Italian. This is definitely not a typical “hotel” as the name suggests because it does not offer 24 hour service. While the hotel is located only a five minute walk to very tourist- friendly areas, the area that the hotel is located in is definitely in a grittier part of the city. On the final night of my stay, myself and six other guests were locked out of the hotel from roughly 10pm-12am. To enter the hotel, you must take an elevator from the ground floor that brings you up to the reception. However, myself and other guests realized the elevator was out of service which made it impossible to enter the hotel. We all attempted to contact the hotel’s number, but it seemed no staff member was at the hotel (I personally called 5 times and messaged them four times over this period..other guests also tried several times as well). However, we got no response. We also tried banging on the front entrance’s door (sorry to the hotel’s neighbors) and ringing the elevator alarm and the hotel’s doorbell more than a dozen times. Almost 1.5 hours later, a member of the hotel staff finally showed up. However, he also had no idea how to fix the elevator and he for some reason had no key to the alternate staircase to the hotel entrance either. Ultimately, the staff disturbed all guests late at night with calls to figure out who was inside and had luck with one lady who offered to unlock the staircase from the inside. The next morning, the general manager apologized for the previous night. During our discussion, he said he would give me a refund for the previous night when I checked out to make up for the trouble. However, when it was time to check out, he was only able to compensate me 70 euros, while I had paid 100 euros per night. I understand that 30 euros is not that large of a difference, however, I was bothered more by the fact he promised something to placate me and then did not follow through. Overall if you decide to stay here, pressure the staff to give you phone numbers other than the main number to contact during emergencies, ask who will be on staff throughout your visit and avoid the rickety elevator. However, if you are looking to avoid stress during your time at Palermo, maybe skip Casa Nostra.

0.16km from L'AnciovaI stayed here for three nights in February and I slept in Room No. 1 - a quiet and spacious room with a comfortable bed, lovely flooring and a large bathrom. Although this room has a French window which looks out on a very enclosed space and gives little light to the room, I believe that, all things considered - for example the excellent breakfast, the charming and helpful hosts, plus the reasonable price - this is a very nice place to stay and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
0.21km from L'AnciovaGabriele is one of the nicest kindest owners I have ever met he took my bag up to the top floor where the B&B is greeted us with a warm smile great english and homemade cake. We dropped our bags in the room he brought us to the kitchen which was fully stocked with fruit, cake, fridge full of water, juices and yogurts. Espresso machine, cooker, teas, coffees and snacks all to use whenever we wanted amazing. Our room was just beautiful it was large absolutely spotless great ensuite and a balcony which we were allowed to smoke on which was great must strees absolutely no smell of smoke in the room if you are a non smoker. Great shower great air conditioning and our balcony was overlooking the famous market absolutely fantastic. Gabriele was so helpful on our arrival made us coffee and cake and sat with us to go through the street map where we were what we should see nothing was too much bother for Gabriele. The B&B is so close to everthing train station a 20 minute walk away on flat the Teatro Massimo is a 4 minute walk from the B&B where there is a taxi rank outside and the start of the main pedestrian thoroughfare. We had breakfast at the B&B included in the price a table full of fresh pastries, cereals, yogurts, fruit, bread and as much tea and coffee as you could want. Just one point to note Google maps directions will leave you at the backside of the B&B which can be a bit confusing you are better searching for L'Acerba Osteria when you are facing the front of L'Acerba Osteria the front door to the B&B is to your left. NOT the fault of the B&B but more Google Maps fault. Would absolutely 100% recommend this B&B for a stay in Palermo. Gabriele is amazing and couldn't be more helpful and sweet 10 out of 10. Superb
0.24km from L'AnciovaThis is a lovely peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of Palermo. Despite being a few feet away from a busy street market which you must visit; once you’re inside it is cool and quiet. We had a room with a spiral staircase in it leading up to a small roof terrace where we sat listening to music and enjoying the view of the hills and the Cathedral. Gigliola is a wonderful host, nothing is too much bother. This was my second visit to this B&B and I will definitely be visiting again when I’m next in Palermo, which by the way is a fantastic city.

Hotels Near L'Anciova In Palermo Review
In Jun/July 2019, a tragedy occurred in my life and had to find a way to move forward and a place to stay while I took care of my things as I needed to leave my home due to a terrible situation. I booked myself into Casena Dei Coli, a place I had wonderful memories from, so I thought, I’ll go there to feel safe while my life was falling apart. With a minor issue during ordering, which wasn’t their fault, they helped me get a room, one that I almost lost due to this mistake of online booking through a third party. Deborah who was handling the situation was an angel, like many that week, so many wonderful people came to my rescue, hidden angels all teamed up and showed me what a wonderful soul so many had in my most desperate hour. From Deborah the receptionist to the manager, to the kitchen staff, they were all incredibly supportive and kind, it brings a tear to my eye how wonderful they were with me. Attentive and understanding of what I was going through, they took good care of me. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, it is a perfect little heaven, hidden from the rest of their surroundings. With wonderful room service, amazing breakfast with delicious items to enjoy, they gave me an incredibly safe and happy environment to pull through during my tragedy. I will forever consider them part of my most precious memories from Palermo. Everyone was beyond helpful and beyond perfect in their care for me and the hotel is amazing. I’ve been there many times and I will return again and again. I’ll send friends there and I’ll bring whoever I’ll travel with there as well. I know I praise them a lot, but I don’t do this just because… I’m not paid to say any of this, I am speaking from my own experience and their service and professionalism was beyond perfect… they are a true hidden gem in Palermo… utterly kind, utterly professional and my stay there was healing. Thank you to Deborah, to the manager that day, to the kind dude who helped me out after work… Because of you all, and so many in that week, I got out safely and with so many helping souls who I now call dear and close friends. My highest recommendation goes to the staff and this hotel for being so professional and going out of their way to make me comfortable and offering care and assistance in my time of need. I’ll be seeing you all again shortly when I come back visiting. Have a happy New Year and a successful one! Gracie mille amici ❤️
My Husband booked this hotel for us to rest up after our lovely wedding, as it was stressful during these times. I emailed the Mercure ahead to see if they could offer us an upgrade or something nice for when we arrived. The Mercure replied positively. They booked our taxi from the airport and we were looking forward to our stay. When we arrived, we were offered a room on the 3rd floor. There was no mention of this was the upgrade I was asking for, not even a congratulations. Our room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. There was a large balcony with no furniture, and when we first arrived, there was a man on our balcony, we think he was cleaning, and wanted to cut through into our room to leave. The WiFi can be a bit hit and miss, but mostly ok. The air con is noisy but it can be left on all day and turned off a night if needed. The shower temperature seems to be in the wrong place. There is a danger of knocking the lever with your arm, making you scold or freeze before you have realised you have knocked it. The bathroom floor is very slippery when wet. The room was clean, although housekeeping did forget to clean our room on one occasion. The hotel is in a great location and Palermo has excellent street food. So I would strongly advise to not pay extra for breakfast at this hotel. It is far cheaper to go elsewhere. Due to social distancing, the food is now served to you, and you have to queue up for it. If I wanted scrambled eggs of on toast, I would have to queue for the eggs and for the staff to put the bread in to cook. I would then have to queue again to collect the toast and my eggs would be cold. Hot drinks are supposed to be offered to you once seated but we were sometimes missed. We gave up on breakfast we had paid for on a couple of occasions and went straight for the street food. Because of the location I would stay here again, but I would do a few things differently. I would not pay for the breakfast, there are plenty of places you can eat at a much cheaper price. I would also bring a travel kettle and milk for the empty fridge in the room. That way I can have a hot drink every morning.
I would have given it 2 stars if it was not for the below incidents. The hotel did upgrade us to a room with a balcony even though this should have been booked in a first place. However, this seemed to change staff's attitude towards us, after this they were not that helpful. Apparently a new service they offer is for guests to be dropped off for free at a near by location, which we booked for the first day. Once we were dropped off, the driver gave us a card and said we could contact them when we want to be picked up, which we did but apparently they were busy. The car never worked or they were always busy after that, sad to say but true the service was always available for Italian guests. Although the hotel was clean and has good WIFI, it is NOT near a beach. The nearest beach is very very dirty. The garden was lovely but we could not use it as it was extremely hot and staff refused to open the umbrellas, apparently due to strong winds! It was so hot that no leafs were even moving. We wanted to sit outside under the only umbrella that was opened but had no tables and it was in the shade, so moved couple of chairs. Staff came out immediately and asked us to move in the sun and took the umbrella down, no explanation, nothing. The restaurant is constantly hired out to weddings, birthday parties etc, which was okay the first night enjoyed the music, however this was at least 5 night in a row and music was so loud it went on until 0300 am at least every night. Those guests were able to use whatever they liked, it felt like we as a paying holiday customers were an inconvenience and a bother most of the time. Coffees for staying in customers should be charged at 1 euro, we were constantly charged 2.50 per coffee and in the end it was pointless discussing it. My son bought water from the hotel and was charged 4 euros for 1 litre bottle, the next night he was charged 2.00 euros for a bigger bottle. On arrival no one mentioned the check out time and hotels tend to usually confirm this, as it was a package holiday and they had all the details I assumed they knew that we did not have to leave until 1830. Fine, maybe I should have double checked but not even checking that we know, I was in the shower and got a call which my son answered and he was told we must leave immediately. He tried to explain I was in the shower, in the end I had to come out get dressed and go to reception. We were given an hour but when I asked what the check out time should have been it kept changing, 11 then 12. They did let us get all our last luggage together until 1300 but spent quite a bit of time discussing it. After we left they did take out bags in an empty room (which was nice), it was a very hot day and we did not want to travel or walk anywhere so we went and sat in the cool where the bags were. Staff came in straight away and said they needed the room at 1800 as it was booked, so I said fine we would have left by then and only wait 30 mins in the sun for the tran
Hotel Ambasciatori was the base for my stay in Palermo, an excellent situation right on Via Roma, minutes from the bus/train station and in the middle of all the bars/restaurants & sights. Room was on the 3rd floor at the back of the hotel, it was spacious, a good size , the bed was clean and comfortable and most importantly it was quiet, the AC worked really well so returning after a day in the sun you were met by a cool room. Given the location it was surprisingly quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel is typical Italian style as you would expect, comfortable but not quite modern and stylish like a chain hotel. The bathroom was perfectly adequate, shower was fine, again plenty of space & it was a good sized room, the bathroom window opened onto the middle atrium. There was the usual shower gels, soaps etc. Towels were replaced most days, housekeeping does not work at weekends so you may return to find your room not serviced ! Wifi was complimentary and worked really well. There was also a fridge so you could keep your water and sodas which you might have bought at the very nearby Lidl supermarket cool. First time in years actually having real room keys (3) The hotel closes at midnight so if you have a late night you have a key to open the main door to the building and also a key to open the door to your floor as it is a partly residential building and your actual room key ! There is a cute old fashioned elevator to take you to your floor but sometimes people do not close the gates & door properly which is annoying. From the 7th floor terrace there’s a wonderful view , it’s also the bar , restaurant and breakfast space. Note is a private area so it is sometimes closed for parties/events. My vodka tonic was very good, superb refreshing tonic water with an excellent taste. Service throughout my stay was friendly and welcoming, there was always someone on reception except when it closed late evening until 09.00 Sadly, due to covid-19, breakfast is no longer buffet so you preorder the night before which was not great. An order of fried eggs consisted of 1 fried egg which at €4 was a little mean, the coffee was good, a croissant €2 , fruit and other items priced accordingly so unless you want to pay for breakfast with a view, there were many places on Via Roma offering more value, up to you. I liked the hotel, it was walking distance to everywhere and a good choice if you want a reliable choice while in Palermo without breaking the bank.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk from The Massimo in a fairly quiet street just off the main boulevard. We liked the location as it was a bit quieter but not out of town. The room was very good. Modern in style with a comfy bed. Shower fine. There was not much storage space and only a few shelves but this was not really a problem. All rooms are on the first floor. Reception staff very good and knowledgeable. Breakfast was good. Lots of choice for "continental" style but we did not need anything cooked. Overall very good and we would use it again.
The hotel is located right on the waterfront, just across the harbor. It's nice to sip your morning coffee on the 7th floor breakfast terrace while watching the ferries moving in and out. The location is great not only because of the scenic view: the main attractions of this fabulous city, including Teatro Massimo and Fontana Pretoria, are walking distance away. Although there's no gym room, the hotel's staircase walls are painted in an attractive way to encourage the guests to climb the stairs instead of taking the elevators. However, the hotel's theme seems to be graffiti, to match the neighborhood – old buildings, some of them decayed and covered in interesting and funny graffiti. Stayed in a room located at the 4th floor, over viewing the mountain and the old neighborhood mentioned above. The concierge staff is particularly kind and helpful. Free city maps are available for free at the reception desk. The breakfast is decent. I also took some meals in the hotel's restaurant and I found the food savory and tasty, although not much fancy looking. All in all, a good accommodation option in Palermo, offering a good value for money.
