0.5km from L'Auberge Des CanutsLovely hotel located in the old town of Lyon (Vieux Lyon). I stayed here for 2 nights and was very happy with everything. CHECK IN: I booked via Booking.com and my confirmation said that because of the time and day of my arrival (after 10pm on a Sunday), the reception will be closed. In such cases, the hotel has an agreement with the College Hotel across the road so I had to check in and get my keys there, which was totally fine. I was given a key to the door to the left of the reception (not the main door) and a key for my room. THE ROOM: very comfortable and clean. I was in room 221. Note that there is no lift in the hotel and there is a round staircase to go up so careful if you have large baggage, but it's not a big deal really so not to worry. In my room, I had a double bed, a TV, a small table and a chair, and a toilet and shower in the bathroom. My window was facing a quiet street, which was lovely. The bathroom had a good small hairdryer provided (I had my own packed with me just in case but did not need it in the end). The room gets serviced so I got clean bed linen and towels. There is no kettle, fridge or cooker in my room but I did not really need those. LOCATION: the old town has plenty of shops as well as cafes and restaurants. There is a small local shop right outside the hotel so you can buy some basic foods and snacks if you wish. The hotel is also very near a Metro station which takes you to the city centre. There is also a funicular at the same station that will take you up to the hill from where you can see the entire city and the Alps. WIFI: sign in is instructed upon check in. You just use your room number and a given password. Signal was excellent. Overall, highly recommend this place if you wish to explore Lyon :) It's decently priced and in a convenient and beautiful location.
