Orvieto as a place is just heavenly peace. Access to the town from the main railway station is easiest via the Funicular railway which runs opposite. The ticket also includes a free shuttle bus from the upper terminus into the town itself which is very narrow and old. The hotle is just lovely and typical old italian beauty and i had a balcony on my room which gave a superb morning view over the mountains. There are plenty of small restaurants to eat and drink in the evening so that pasttime is easily satisfied. The hotel staff are very helpful and they organised a taxi for me as I had an early train to catch. Just beautiful.

With our tour group, we spent one night in this hotel. Our room was on the third floor, and when we went inside, my wife didn't think the AC was working. She tried to change the thermostat's setting, but that didn't help. She then opened a window before calling the reception area to see if they would send someone. The person she talked to said that opening the window caused the AC to reset. At some point, they brought a fan to our room, and that helped us sleep. The breakfast buffet was decent, and the hotel was in a good location in Orvieto. The room key was attached to a cut-out wooden animal, which was so large that you couldn't put it in your pocket. Beginning here, we got in the habit of leaving our key at the desk when we went out.

I have used this BnB many times and have recommended it to friends and colleagues . We have always found the landlady Maria and her daughter Beatrice extremely welcoming. The situation is perfect: a five minute walk to the star attraction, the gothic cathedral with its fabulous frescoes by 16thC Luca Signorell and a 15 m stroll to the other major site, St Patrick's Well. I is surrounded by quaint streets and alleys with cafes and restaurants while the main shopping street is just a couple of minutes walk. The building itself is medieval and stands on the market square (Thursdays and Saturday).

Would stay again! Owner Francesca is wonderful! Her rental was authentic, tucked away from the main drag, but once you find your way in this hilltop town, you realize you're not far from anything here! We had 1 large bedroom and another room with small kitchenette, day bed, and kitchen table. + Private bath. All very clean. Francesca herself was wonderful and added to our stay! We consider her a friend (almost from the moment we met!) and she helped us in so many ways starting with meeting up to walk to her place. She was so kind and genuine to us (even helping with plans for our next city!) Would gladly return! Orvieto itself felt safe and there was a lot to explore (and eat!)--could easily stay 4+ days.

The good news is the Filippeschi hotel is close to the city center and isn't too expensive. As you'd expect for a cheaper property, the accommodations are just OK. But I expect that and would have given the place a fairly nice review if that was the only problem. The first issues for me was their breakfast. I've been to Italy lots of times but the complimentary breakfast wasn't even average. But my bigger issue was the staff's communications skills. The thing is, most of Orvieto's old town doesn't allow for car traffic. So I called and emailed them as to what to do. They said, hey if you pay a little extra, we have a lot you can park in. Just drive up and drop your bags off and we'll show you where. So I followed Google maps to the city. And suddenly I'm in a pedestrian only zone and I'm getting LOTs of angry looks. I got out of there and parked, then walked 10 blocks through the rain with my bags. The older guy at the front desk was very nice but he had almost no English skills. And he couldn't understand my situation. The next person at the desk was no better. I finally found someone who told me the best place to park. -- And she got a bit offended that I said I shouldn't have to pay for their parking since by now I'd done that on my own. Even that wouldn't have bothered me too much. But I got a Huge parking ticket in the mail from the city of Orvieto for driving in a pedestrian area. And that wouldn't have happened if they had given me a better route to their hotel or just told me of a parking lot outside the pedestrian zone. These days most hotels in Italy do fairly well in English. I didn't get that at the Hotel Filippeschi and it cost me.

We spent 3 nights in this b&b during the month of May and we found the location to be very convenient and the hosts were very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. The b&b is located within walking distance of the funicular station and the historical center is small enough that everything is pretty much within walking distance. The b&b is located on the second floor of an ancient building so this would not be suitable for mobility challenged individuals as there is no lift, this was in no way an inconvenience to us. We had the comfort room, an average sized bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. The room answered all our basic needs, it was clean, the bed was fairly comfortable, the bathroom had a nicely-sized shower with plenty of hot water. Unfortunately during our time in Orvieto the weather was rather cold and it rained almost the entire time we were there so we found the window to be a little drafty and the room somewhat cool and humid but this may very well be the case in all similarly aged buildings. There is a fully functional kitchen common area which can be used to prepare meals and there is a lovely rooftop terrace with nice views as well as a second kitchen area beside the terrace but due to the weather we were not able to make use of the terrace. Overall our experience was positive, the location excellent and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Hopefully we’ll be able to return at a future time with better weather.

Spent 2 nights in gorgeous Orvieto on our way home to Milan this past summer. We selected this hotel based on reviews concerning cleanliness and anti-Covid measures. We were not disappointed and we felt safe, especially in the breakfast room, where all possible measures were taken to protect guests, from social distancing with tables set far apart, to controlled and safe food service. The hotel itself is beautifully positioned in the heart of Orvieto, so easy to walk to all of the major sights! Parking was an added bonus and was a breeze. You can literally drive up to the entrance, and the car is valet parked for you at a nearby garage, and then delivered back to you at time of departure! The room was a little small, as was the bathroom (could do with some rennovations) , but we were pleased with the overall cleanliness. This hotel gets my overall approval because it ticked a lot of the boxes for us and staying there made our stay in Orvieto that much nicer!

We were a group and had 5 rooms for 1 week in this hotel. We were welcomed beautifully. The staff here is just exceptional. Our group wanted to have some communal time in the little dining area for lectures in the morning and later for happy hour in the evening and the staff was so accommodating, letting us basically take over that space! Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Only problem is that showers are a bit tight (not an issue for most people but it was for a couple on our trip). We had problems with booking.com and the hotel in negotiating a couple of rooms. It finally was resolved but took about 3 weeks after our departure. However, because of the excellent staff and the relationship we had built, I was able to stay in touch with the issue and keep aware of the process. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Orvieto.

Highly recommend this resort! The staff are fantastic, amazing customer service and experience. The rooms are beautiful and modern. We stayed in the family apartment since we traveled with a toddler but previewed the suites which were also lovely. The staff is outstanding both at the front desk and the dining areas. The views are breathtakingly beautiful and complement the entire experience. A combination between relaxed yet luxurious. A perfect countryside getaway. Previous reviews mention the walk from the family apartments to the main building as long or difficult. It was a peaceful 5 minute walk that we looked forward to daily. The facilities are superb. We will definitely be back! I just wish they had a microwave in the family apartment and babysitting services so we could have enjoyed the spa.

We initially chose Titignano as the venue for our destination wedding as it offered everything on our wish-list (its own church, on-site restaurant/catering, exclusive use, good value and accommodation for 130 guests). We visited 10 months before the wedding to confirm and were blown away by the location, the food and the staff. We booked Titignano for our wedding party for 3 days with a welcome buffet on day 1, wedding on day 2 and pool party on day 3. Fiorenza, Carmen and staff made the planning process easy and recommended any local suppliers that we needed. The big day in July came around quickly and 130 of our family and friends arrived from Ireland, USA and Australia. Everyone immediately commented on the amazing scenery and couldn't believe the place was all ours for 3 days. We had a quick rehearsal in the church and had a lovely buffet for everyone upstairs in the restaurant. On the wedding day, and every other day, there was an excellent breakfast. The bridal party got ready in the castle while most of the guests could go to the pool and take their time. The evening ceremony was absolutely beautiful in Titignano's ancient church. It was so special to have the celebration in such a historical place, surrounded by family and friends. We took photos overlooking lake corbara and the vineyards below the village and joined everyone soon after for the drinks reception. The wedding dinner set-up was magical outside in the main square. The starters, primi, secondi, desserts and wine were outstanding. We had our first dance outside and continued the party with our band in the cellar until the morning. All of our guests raved about the food, the scenery and the amazing staff. They were so professional and always smiling. Day 3 we had a late start with homemade pizza served for lunch, gelato and a pool party. We also had a delicious dinner of multiple courses in the restaurant again that night. Castello di Titignano is a hidden gem and I'm so happy we found it. Overall, our wedding celebration here was so perfect it felt like a dream. Thank you again to the staff for making it a reality!

Absolutely lovely place to stay. Very warm and helpful proprietors. They explained how to get around. Location was excellent. The parking is free. A very short drive or a steepish walk to the escalators and elevators. There are both! Breakfast was very good on a lovely terrace with a great view. Our bedroom was large and comfortable with air conditioning, a balcony with a great view. Bathroom had lovely toiletries and good water pressure. We were there 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer as Orvieto is an amazing town to visit with plenty to do. The escalators close at 20:00 but the elevators run till 01:00 so there is no problem with access at the end of a long day of touring

Spectacular, Stunning and amazing are just some of the words I would use to describe this venue. My wife and I had our wedding here in June 2019 and it was the best decision we ever made. We are both from Ireland and so travelled to Italy one year before the date to look at venues. All in all we looked at 24 venues across all of Italy and La Badia was our final stop. We wanted a venue close to a town that could cater for over 100 travelling guests. As the venue itself is located less than five minute drive from the town, this meant that all out guests could experience an Italian wedding and an Umbrian town. The town itself has so much history, nice shops, narrow streets, churches, and fantastic restaurants. As soon as we checked in for the first time and walked out to the courtyard, we knew we had found our venue. The venue overlooks the cliffs of Orvieto and the views across the valley are breath taking. This venue ticks all the boxes. Exclusive use, Rooms on site, Close to beautiful town, Church on the grounds and amazing food. We didn’t have a wedding planner but Andreina, Tommaso, Rossella & team are all so helpful and accommodating. They helped us all along the way. We did travel to the venue once more to do a tasting and speak to a Florist. The day of the wedding was perfect. After breakfast I was able to go for a swim to unwind while the bridal party got ready. We had a catholic ceremony in the church at 4 pm followed by an aperitif in the garden overlooking Orvieto. From there we moved to the Archway and had dinner while the sun set, followed by Dessert in the court yard. By this stage, our band Guty and Simone had already set up here and so we were able to dance into the night. The food on the day was incredible. We can’t wait to celebrate future anniversaries at this venue. Sergio & Danielle (Dublin Ireland)

We just spent 4 nights at Podere Sette Piagge and hope to return. Francesca, Alberto and Maria Louisa are truly the warmest, most hospitable people we have ever had the pleasure to meet, They welcome you as if you at family. Rooms are spotless, facilities are modern and the pool and surroundings are so peaceful. Location is perfect to explore Umbria and Tuscany as it’s right off the Autostrada and parking is available if you ren a car. The main town just 20 minutes walk up a very steep hill. Alberto was kind enough to drive us one night. He will take you on a tour of his amazing farm with figbtrees, pomegranates , tomatoes, lettuce. Olive groves , peaches -the best and who know how many other things - he grows everything !!!! He even has a trout pond . They live off their land.... breakfast is all farm to table- the eggs, the jams , the fruits, amazing baked goods with their own fruits. I could go on and on- I was sad to leave Francesca and her family and will never forget my stay there.

I booked a two week stay this past June. Angela was quick to respond to my emails and booking requests. Once I arrived, I was delighted to discover my Junior Suite was actually a small studio cottage adjacent to the main villa. It had its own private yard with connecting subterranean tunnel to the other side of the street. The room was well-appointed and very pretty with stone work and exposed beams. Unlike most Italian hotels, the beds were very comfortable! The breakfast is plentiful with many different choices. Due to COVID, it is no longer served buffet style, but that might change again in the future. Instead a waiter takes orders and brings everything to your table. Dinners are optional, and very good. Their chef creates a daily and monthly menu using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Everything was prepared with care and presentation in mind. There are also several excellent trattorias within a short drive to the resort. Their location is perfect for a Umbrian hills get-away. It is very quiet and relaxing by the pool or out in one of their many garden sitting areas. There are walking trails and farming roads nearby for a good after breakfast stretch of the legs. Orvieto is a quick 20 minutes away. Other fun day trips such as Civita de Bagnoreggio, Monster Park, Maddona del Latte winery, Perugia, and more are easily accessible by car. The staff are warm and welcoming, from the owner Rosanna, Frank the waiter, Gabriel the Nightwatchman, Angela the manager, and the kind and hard-working gardeners and cleaning staff. (and anyone else I left out!) I enjoyed meeting and speaking to them all. I highly recommend Griffin's Resort for anyone seeking a respite from the city life and/or a taste of Umbrian life.
