Hotels Near L’Occitane In San Diego
0.51km from L’OccitaneEmbassy Suites stays with my family rarely disappoint, until this one. There were so many glitches that I was ready to leave within hours of arriving. What went wrong: For the first time in all my years of traveling, my room was not ready when we arrived. It was 6pm. I could understand if it had been closer to the published check-in time, but a few hours had passed. I had just spent 3 hours driving to this hotel, and really needed to get to the room sooner than later. I was offered another room right by the elevator as an alternate. No thank you. Next, the “Premium Suite” that I booked offers complimentary drinks and snacks, but they were not in there in the room tray, as advertised. Then, I discovered there were not enough towels for the family and later at bedtime, the pillows for the pull-down Murphy bed were missing. I’m sincerely not a demanding diva, but this was one inconvenience too many and my patience was hanging by a thread. But wait, there’s more. Everyone snuggled into their beds dozing off, and guess what started up? A loud barking dog in the room next door and people banging things around. The walls were pretty thin, as I unpleasantly discovered. I really wanted to pack up at this point, but other hotels were booked. This nightly nuisance persisted. The complimentary breakfast was of a bowl with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, charred potato chunks, and greasy french toast sticks that reminded me of an elementary school cafeteria. The only fruit choices were bananas and apples, where Embassy Suites usually offers a fresh cut fruit assortment. I understand that offerings may have had to be adjusted for pandemic reasons, but I didn’t feel very healthy after eating this breakfast. The suite had a door between the living room and main bedroom, yet the bathroom was in inside the main bedroom area. Usually the suites have a jack and jill style bathroom, keeping the master room completely separate. Didn’t expect this. The check-out was easy, but I was not asked how my stay went.. I suppose that was avoided, as the answer would not have been positive. In retrospect, the reduced offerings at the hotel were not worth the nightly rate. The good things: The front desk was attentive to promptly provide the missing items and sent a couple more texts to check back in. I gave up on sharing the issues, though. The room was clean and the bedding was fresh and spotless. The shower had good flow and enough hot water. Overall, the lack of sleep due to noise left me exhausted and I left unsatisfied with this stay. It truly was not a typical Embassy Suites experience, and I would not likely return.
1.79km from L’OccitaneI arrived and was upgraded to a larger room due to status. That was nice I enjoyed my stay love those beds. The hotel does show its age. It could use a facelift. It was clean but just dated. They had a sign to welcome you to the SPG members level of the hotel. The lounge was closed they did offer some coupons to use. But you needed to go to the bar during specific hours to use them. Same with breakfast had to go get it according to the tickets. Would have preferred if they had an order form and you just put your order in and they brought over the items.
2.84km from L’OccitaneI had a one-night stay here (business travel) and booked due to proximity to my client site. I didn't have much choice since I was on their corporate rate and this is the property that had availability. The immediate impression is of a fairly standard Courtyard property. The lobby is nicely redone, it has the Bistro (something I've come to appreciate at Courtyards in general), and ample parking. They do charge $12/night for parking but they're in a corporate area so I presume they do that to prevent people parking for free in their lot. I was very let down when I entered the room. While the lobby felt refreshed, the room did not. It features the same mustard yellow color that I remember from Courtyards in the 90s. The bathroom was clean but in older condition. What really struck my in my room was the odor, which smelled musty, damp and a bit like cat litter. Maybe they had a guest in the room previously with a pet? Not sure, but it did not smell clean and fresh. I also found the bed very lumpy and not in the best condition. Lastly, the location is near Miramar and the resulting flyover jet noise can be quite loud. You won't escape that at other properties in the area but it's something to be mindful about when booking. They were operating flights until 9pm on one night of my stay and it was super loud. Not the hotel's fault, but if you're noise sensitive you might want to find a more suitable location. Like I said earlier, the employees here are outstanding and very friendly (particularly in the Bistro). That made the stay nice since I had some work-related meetings over breakfast. But given the options in the area, and based on the property's condition, I would not return here in the future if I had a choice.
3.36km from L’OccitaneThe hotel is in a good location and the person at the front counter was very friendly and helpful. However I was disappointed in the room, and their so called Covid cleanliness attempt. First the good: After asking about breakfast, the gal at the front desk gave great recommendations for local eateries to check out the next morning as they were only offering grab-n-go breakfasts due to Covid. She was also very helpful in changing my room to a lower level, closer to the entrance, because i had recently had knee surgery and was walking with a brace and cane. After getting to the room, i had attempted to open a bottle of wine i had purchased nearby and my wine opener broke leaving the cork stuck in the bottle. The front desk was able to loan me a pair of pliers of all things to get the cork out! Saved my first night in San Diego from being ruined haha! Now for the not so good part...the sink in the room was covered in some gross residue. There was a used bottle of lotion left in the bathroom, and the shampoo/conditioner holder attached to the wall in the shower was covered in gunk from the dispensers. That was not very reassuring about the rest of the room and their housekeeping practices. While i did make it a point to pull back all the sheets and covers and check to see if the linens were clean, they appeared so, but i wasn't completely convinced. It was late and i was tired so it was a place to sleep so i can't complain too much as i have experienced much worse places. I did mention my complaints to the front desk the next morning and the front desk personnel apologized emphatically but that was it. I probably should made more of a fuss and asked for a partial refund but them coming in clutch with the pliers, so i could drink my wine, kept me from fussing too much. I would stay there again, but i will be extra diligent in my inspections to ensure its clean before settling in.
3.44km from L’OccitaneA friend and I were staying in the area, and we lucked out by being able to book last minute massage and facial appointments at the Estancia Spa. I had Rebecca for my massage and Katie for my facial: both ladies were exceptional (and I have had a lot of massages and facials). They listened to me and what I wanted from my services, etc, and they delivered top notch treatment. Beyond relaxing! The entire spa setting is extremely relaxing, and beautiful, both the indoor and outdoor spaces. I totally recommend arriving plenty early enough to take advantage of the steam room, hot tubs, and quiet areas. After we finished our services, we were treated to a couple glasses of champagne, which we took outside to sit by the pool and enjoyed extending our relaxing afternoon. Customer service was excellent throughout the entire property: the valet guys at the front door, the hotel front desk, the entire spa staff. And the hotel property is very pretty, we enjoyed our walk from the hotel front desk to the spa area, all of the beautiful flowers and vegetation, perfectly manicured landscaping, etc.
3.65km from L’OccitaneIn February 2020 my dad unexpectedly got a call from the transplant team that he would be having his liver transplant. Our family was scared and very unprepared. The staff (Hailey,Chris and Laura) at Extended Stay America-San Diego-Sorrento Mesa made us feel welcome and at home for the month that I was there. Some of my family is still there since my dad is still in the hospital. When I left, I was comfortable that my family would be taken care of during this difficult time. Thank you for your continued hospitality and the true dedicated workers you are.
3.7km from L’OccitaneThe first of all, when I went to do the check in through the contact less key dispenser it doesn’t exist!! So, you lied to me about it because it was what I was read in the webpage, the emails I received from Hyatt and the email confirmation for check in. In this is one of the reasons I choose your hotel instead another one the contact less because I’m very concerned about the safe and healthy procedures. I spent 20 min waiting for the receptionist being in line with other people because he was busy with other guests. The cleaning of the room was really bad. It was a lot of dust everywhere like no body use it in a long time. I spent almost 30 min cleaning the surfaces because I have toddlers and I didn’t want they touch all the dirty. The microwave was with a lot of rust and the microwave plate inside it was messing and with a baby still drinking baby bottle I couldn’t heat it properly. The fire stick on the back of the living room was placed in a different input, so after almost an hour trying to figure out in our phones what was happening I called the receptionist and she told me that maybe I should put the fire stick in the number 1 input instead of the number 2 where it was. I can’t believe how the person in charge of the room doesn’t check this before our arrival. I mean is something very simple, but when you’re a guest you expect that everything be placed in the right place before you’re arriving, instead of the guest need to do it to be more comfortable. We go very often on vacations with our little ones staying in a different kind of hotels in USA, Mexico and Europe and In overall I don’t recommend using the Hyatt hotels, as I was expecting more quality in my staying specially the contactless key dispenser as I was promised.
4.09km from L’OccitaneEver stayed at a hotel with 4+ stars only to be disappointed with something? Well, you can’t please everyone, so I place a very high priority on the hotel staff and this Residence Inn is absolutely among the very best staff I’ve ever seen. They are all so nice and so helpful and accommodating you’ll feel like you’re with your second family. Breakfast is served at 6:30am, or is it? I just went to get a cup of coffee at the lobby (5:45am) and I noticed that breakfast looked ready. Well, that’s because it was. I was cheerfully met by Wanda, who was working her butt off, as she has been all week, making sure the guests had a hot breakfast, ready to go, long before the advertised time. And she’s so ridiculously sweet. Thank you, Wanda for early breakfast. I’ve rarely seen an early breakfast at any hotel I’ve stayed at, much 45 minutes early. She’s amazing.
4.71km from L’OccitaneThe inn is located conveniently located. A few minutes by foot from the beach and restaurants, but far enough to be quiet. You might want to take the car to downtown La Jolla. The reception is open from 9am to 5pm but arriving after hours is no issue. There is a small safe and phone next to the reception and they will provide you with a code to get your room key. The rooms are large. Sitting room with large TV and a kitchen. Our apartment was on the ground floor and windows facing to the street (though kitchen and main door is to pool area). Others are facing to the back or are on upper level, which might be better. Bathroom and kitchen would need a more thorough clean-up. Kitchen fixture is only basic. 2 small pots, microwave, oven, coffee machine; glasses, cups, plates and cutlery for 2. Knifes, can and bottle opener. Bring basics like salt and pepper if you plan some cooking. Private parking is available but street parking was no problem and free. Just watch out for Thursday morning street sweeping.
5.01km from L’OccitaneWe were a little hesitant to stay at the property due to some of the reviews. So glad that we did as we had a wonderful getaway weekend. We stood in a two bedroom oceanfront suite and it was perfect. Nice kitchen, beds were comfortable, TVs in all rooms, and best of all were the beautiful views. My husband and son loved the little golf course also! We will definitely be back very soon!!!
5.23km from L’OccitaneOn Sep. 21st, we arrived at this hotel to check in. We were told that we had no booking. Since I had a confirmation from IHG that indeed stated we had a confirmed booking for Sep. 21st-Sep. 23rd, I assumed that would be honored. Instead, the front desk attendant gave me attitude and blamed me for their mistake. She said that we booked Nov. 1st-3rd which was impossible. I had an email confirmation that showed Sep. 21st-23rd. She rudely said she could do nothing to help us. We would need to book a new room for a different price and oops, sorry they were all out of kings (which we had booked in our original confirmation). The price went up $70 (though she did eventually give us $10 off each night after I complained about being punished for their mistake). Since we had traveled so far and it was late, we just decided to stay there since we wanted a place with a full kitchen. I called IHG to let them know what happened to see if we could be refunded the difference in pricing since we were now staying in a smaller bed and paying more than we originally expected. They said that in their system, the change was made by the hotel itself and that the original booking showed Sep. 21-23. I've made two separate calls to IHG with case number filed and was told I'd here back from the Staybridge manager both times. I have not heard anything from them. We got punished for their mistake. The way it's been handled feels odd to me. It's a shame because we liked Staybridge when we stayed in other locations. In addition to this major issue, we did find small sugar ants in the room.

5.32km from L’OccitanePRO's: Price, location was very close to shopping, food & the highway, kind & friendly staff, no bed bugs, room was a good size, locked facilities after 10 pm, no funny business with the room rate or with my credit card, no issues with theft, free parking, heat & A/C in room, WI-FI, cable, microwave, frig, pool, sauna and small pond. Less than 2 hours from Disneyland & Universal Studios. CON's: 1) extremely outdated and in need of a deep cleaning. The carpet was ragged/dirty, old scratched furniture, shower sprayed water from the top of the pipe, wallpaper was peeling, drapes & blinds were dirty, tiled floor was sticky, weird stains on walls in some spots, cabinets and light fixtures were rusted. Sprayed the room down with lysol, did a thorough scrubbing with my own cleaning materials and wore flips flops in the room. 2) The breakfast was very basic (bagles and a banana or an apple) 3) could hear my neighbor snoring This hotel had so many great amenities and the front desk staff and housekeepers were all very nice. However, the condition of the hotel lowered my rating to a 3. If you are looking for a hotel to only lay your head and safely store your belongings... this will definitely be the place for you. Thank you :)
Hotels Near L’Occitane In San Diego Review
Misson Bay / Loma Heights
Booked this place to celebrate my daughters, niece, and brothers bday. Unfortunately, the rooms that we booked, which was the bungalow garden view were not what we expected. The online adverstisement showed more luxurious and beautiful rooms. Our room was supposed to have a separate living area, and bedroom but it was the other way around. We walked into a bed in the living room with the kitchenette and a dining table. The tv was placed in the corner, in between a window and a door. There is a separate room with a pull out couch and a tv, which should’ve been in the living room.. due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were expecting a clean room, but I ended up cleaning this place up. The drapes, curtains were filthy!!!! The counters, tables were dusty!!! The coffee machine and supplies looked like it has been sitting there for ages; microwave had a lot of stains.. no rugs in the room and made it really cold, and did not feel cozy at all. When you’re on vacation and paying $600/night (bungalow garden view) the room should be at the highest standard and guests will have the highest expectations given the fact that you are paying this kind of money.. we wanted a place where we can rest up and relax.. Unfortunately, when we walked in, we wanted to leave right away- the room that we booked was supposed to have a separate living and bedroom space. But it was the other way around. The bed was in the living area along with kitchenette and dining area. There’s a separate room w a couch and a tv. It was cold and it didn’t feel welcoming.. during this Covid 19 pandemic, the rooms should be extra clean, the walls had stains and the floor is dirty.. we requested extra blankets but had holes on them. This is not what we expected at the rooms are not worth the price- Needs a lot of improvement!!!!!! U can get a $300-400/night with the same amenities plus a very nice room.. this place Maybe need to hire better housekeeping company. Paying this kind of money, our expectAtions were high and very disappointed. On top of that, we can hear people next door so we didn’t not have a good nights sleep. So far this resort have been the most disappointing as far as the room situation. We hope to see improvements on the bungalow garden view and lanai rooms in the future.. clean, cozy, and well decorated rooms.. On a good note, the resort is beautiful; good location. One of the reason why we stayed in our bungalow is because we had a nice view of the bay and steps away from the sand- that kind of made the room situation better.. There are 5 pools on property, our family enjoyed their time at the pool. We pretty much had the pool to ourselves. Our kids loved the fact that they can walk around the property, rode their scooters. There’s a rental place for bikes, etc.. and other activities on site. Fire pit for s’mores nights are also available on a first come, first serve. It was also convenient for us to be able to walk to the restaurants on property. The island market is

When you first get there I felt like I had traveled back in time to the age of the Titanic. We were met by a very helpful valet host who held the door open for us and offered to assist with our luggage. Check in was fast and pretty smooth, Daniel was quick and friendly. They give you an old school (with a modern chip) metal key. Was cool but if you dont have a key ring/chain was tricky keeping tabs of. The rooms were very nice. The bathroom is grande that's for sure with gold plated metal hardware, a large vanity and nice complimentary array of personal hygiene care. I was on the 16th floor. Great view of the city. The room had a Keurig (never used it) a small fridge and a safe which you use a personal credit card to lock and unlock. The desk was very nice and there were 2 large seats. The gym facilities were amazing to use. The pool deck was also spectacular with a 1/10 mile rubber track, a crossfit area and spin class area. The classes cost $10 for guest but are worth up. I was there for a week long conference. The hotel staff were always very friendly and quick to open a door for you. The entire hotel is beautiful. The front desk members including Daniel were helpful in giving suggestions for places to eat and directions. The hotel bar and restaurant are pretty spectacular. Only visited it once on Thursday the 13th. The bartender could have been a little friendlier for me and my friends who had a couple of cocktailmls a piece. The only drawback and this isn't anything on the hotel are the public electric street cars. From 4:30 am until 1 to 2 am they horn signal is louder then anything even 16 stories high making it difficult to sleep if you are a light sleeper such as myself. Besides that if were to visit San Diego again I would seriously consider staying at the Westgate again as well as suggesting it to others. And on my last day I had the assistance from the concierge woman in checking out. She informd me she had been there for a long time and it showed. Her knowledge of the hotel and its culture were excellent. She took a lot of pride in the hotel and was very friendly. Thank you for the accommodations.
Downtown San Diego
Booked the hotel in Sept 2020, based on nostalgia from multiple past stays back over the last 10 years. Back then the hotel used to have a cool boutique vibe to it, with a happening rooftop scene, and cool amenities included in the hefty resort fee, such as fresh complementary cold brew coffee in the morning, complementary wine at happy hour in the lobby, free bike rentals, etc. While Solamar still falsely advertises those amenities on its website and still charges the hefty daily resort fee, the only complementary amenity now offered is slow Wi-Fi. I know they'll say it's probably all due to Covid, but then either stop charging the resort fee or make edits to your website, right? Other than that, the cool vibe is gone. The hotel shows its age, the staff is apathetic. Once that happens, the place becomes just another hotel with small, noisy, dirty rooms and no life whatsoever. But they still do charge that resort fee...
Check in was a breeze and I got a great ocean front, 3rd floor room!!! PERFECT! Underground parking for the rental car was nice to have!! Great view from the balcony of the ocean and boardwalk. Was great sleeping to the ocean roar at night! The cleanings ladies were outstanding and room was cleaned every early afternoon. Some good choices just down the boardwalk to the North to eat at, prices not that bad. Good place for breakfast across the street at 20/20 cafe. My favorite burger place was at Mission Burger. Woody's was good too, but always busy with a line. For a evening meal and bar, World Famous right next to the Hotel was the place to go!! Fast service at the bar!....went to MCRD for graduation, to see and laugh for old times sake....Balboa Park good Auto and Air museum...Good photo ops of aircraft landing at SAN. Ralph's Grocery a short walk to the north to get Groceries or pop for the room...Will be back next March for my 50th Graduation from Boot Camp!!! Good massage and Spa at the motel across the street to the East....A drive to Silver Strand beach is a great place for sunset photos too...
Came here for wedding anniversary, and loved the property! The grounds were very well kept, the golf course is beautiful, the trails were nice (not strenuous even though the signs say so), very pet friendly, the pools were warm and still open during covid-19 (Canon and Alex were extremely helpful), the service in general was perfect. Addison was the highlight of our stay, the meal was beautiful and delicious and happy they offered a white truffle dish. One disappointing part of our trip however was the Spa. I booked 2 massages for myself and my husband, and his was decent whereas mine was very much underwhelming to the point that I wondered if my masseuse was even licensed. I told her that my pain points were my neck and shoulders and if she could focus on that area more, and she didn't. She used no pressure and oddly focused more on my arms and feet, using just stoking strides which was weird. She also didn't tell me about the mask option because I couldn't breath with my mask on and she gave no direction with that - i ended up loosening it up a bit on my own so that I could breath. My husband later told me that his masseuse gave him direction and told him that if it was harder to breath, he can remove his mask because there was some sort of cup thing under the headrest which was fine. The massage rooms were outdoor cabanas due to covid-19 which initially sounded romantic, but in reality it was not relaxing due to a dog that was chewing on a squeaky toy half the time in a nearby hotel room (not the hotel's fault though and we love dogs, but just not ideal during a massage) and people talking loudly nearby. Since my husband got a decent massage, I chalk it up to just getting someone that wasn't good and/or didn't care to provide a good experience. Overall, it was a nice experience even during the covid-19 times. Everything was clean, sanitizer around every corner and I felt pretty safe on the property. We would definitely come back again! I would just be weary of the spa and ask for someone with more experience. They also just started putting up the Christmas decorations, and the place looks even more magical for the holidays!

Timing is everything - ours wasn't great. My Wife was due to attend a Conference from March 8th, it was cancelled at the last minute, but we travelled anyway.. Let's just say it was quiet. This enormous Hotel, has over 1,600 Bedrooms in two high-rise Towers, with support facilities. Occupancy was low when we arrived, and declined further over our 5 night stay. Unsurprisingly, some of the usual services closed down or were restricted, due to low demand. But we quite enjoyed our stay, for all the unforeseen limitations - more painful for the many staff laid-off than for us, it's fair to say. Our 25th Floor Room was comfortable & had a good view. We had a few Glasses of Wine in the (subsequently closed) "Brew 30 Bar" the first evening. The "Seaview Restaurant", for Breakfast, had good options ; Sammy, our Server on 1 morning, was excellent. We also used the 24 hour "Market/One" facility : staff attentiveness here was "mixed" (they were mainly absorbing the TV News). Front-Desk / Guest Services people were generally capable and responsive : we especially commend Jackson, and, above all, Caroline S, who could not have been more helpful with advice + some problem-solving - many thanks, Caroline, for your friendly care and attention! By the way, the Hotel was impressively conscientious in providing Hand Sanitizing facilities, with safely usable Dispensers dispersed throughout the public areas : well done! We departed with a generally favorable view of the "Manchester Grand Hyatt".
