Family hotel, hotel rooms are on the 3-5 floor, no elevator, pay attention to the baby, it is really very hard. The general sanitation of the room is normal. Breakfast is too simple, next to Carrefour and the bakery, breakfast at the hotel is not recommended. Le Havre is very small and can be walked on foot. There is a public car park downstairs and the parking space is adequate.

This hotel is well-located, some of the staff members were very helpful and that's pretty much all the positive things I can think of. We had booked accommodation for a family of three. After our arrival we discovered that the sofabed had stained armrests (please see my attached photos) and that the ceiling lamp was missing a lampshade. There were also stains on the chair, poorly installed cables and some paint on the closet. We were tired, only stayed for one night and told the staff about these issues the morning we left. The staff informed me that they'd take care of these things and that was it. I submitted a review on the Accor website which triggered a short lukewarm standard apology. I simply do not comprehend how you can rent out a room in a state like this and why the quality assurance team of Accor accepts this type of subpar service. The hotel also has some major design flaws. The hotel lobby is unwelcoming at best, especially when the reception is closed. The elevator is tiny and only holds one person plus two large pieces of luggage. I understand that this is a UNESCO-protected neighbourhood, but if you cannot add a reasonably sized elevator you have to provide staff to assist guests with luggage to reach their rooms. According to staff the hotel cannot have A/C due to the UNESCO status. That's fine, but the balcony doors can only be fully closed or fully open. They were the only source for fresh air in our room. You cannot tilt or arrest them in a partially opened position. So if it rains on a warm day (like during our stay), you have to block the doors with luggage in a partially opened position to enable air circulation and keep the rain out. The hotel does not offer on-site paking but as we arrived late in the afternoon, we quickly found street parking just arround the corner.

Stayed here 2 nights in June 2018. Very friendly hosts. Small hotel. Charming and comfortable. Our room was clean and big enough. Not a lot of storage to unpack your things but okay for us. And the mattress...OMG a great sleep! I had read how comfortable the beds were in other reviews and I doubted it would be that noticeable...but it's true! Bathroom was a bit tight but not a problem for us. We have stayed in lots of 5 star hotels and Relais Chateau in Europe and The Oscar Hotel would not be near that category. Still, our standards are a clean, safe, comfortable and well-located hotel and The Oscar is this in spades! It met all of our needs. Owner/proprietor is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is always an assortment of fruit and fresh breads cheeses and pastries. Even pancakes and hard-boiled eggs if you wish. And all very well-priced. Plus a chance to meet other guests as breakfast is served cafe style on the main floor. I would stay here again!

We had a bit of an emergency as Hotel Petit Vatel had closed reception and offered us no way to get the keys to the rooms paid for on a late Ascension night. Fregate was the solution to our situation! Residence/Hotel Le Fregate does not look very welcoming from outside, but room very comfortable, well decorated and clean, nice bathroom. Really friendly and helpful reception. Surpricing it only has 1 star, have stayed in 3 star hotels with less comfort. So dont hesitate!

The friends we went to from the airport were very convenient. It would be great if we took a taxi directly. Then the front desk service was very friendly. We stayed in so many hotels and felt that the price performance of the hotel was very high. Recommended

Close to to ports in Le Havre (15 mins) - easy stop off before commencing a long drive in to France or an early morning trip back to UK. Plenty of on site secure parking. Good breakfast (and good value) paid for as extra at the hotel. However - very very cramped and tiny rooms - barely enough room to stand at side of double bed or twins. Bathroom integral in room - ok - but a bit like a caravan bathroom - shower over the toilet and sink! This is fine, but room shower drain was blocked and the whole room (yes, under the beds and everything!) flooded - reception were not able to help as they had issues with newly arriving guests.....they gave “instructions” to my husband who at 10.30pm at night had to take apart the drain himself (it looked he said, as if it had never been cleaned, ever) and physically unblock it with his bare hands, then mop up with the towels in the room. Nasty. No room swap offered, and if he hadn’t fixed it there would’ve been water all over the floor all night (room underneath may have had it too!!) If booked direct you will have to pay extra for ALL add ons - towels, tv, internet etc

Such a lovely hotel. The location is conveniently located in Le Havre's St Joseph district directly across from St Joseph Church. We stayed in one of the apartments. The bed was so comfortable. The bathroom well laid out. The area, while close to so many good restaurants, bars and boulangeries, is peaceful. The chairs in the living room are futon style and convert to a bed. While not as comfy as the bed, there were no complaints. The louvers helped to make the rooms dark for sleeping. The kitchen had a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop, glasses, dishes, etc. We weren't able to make spa appointments as hours are amended due to CoVid-19. Next time? We didn't eat at the restaurant in house. Housekeeping was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I'm writing this as we all are still in the room after staying the night. First off the staff in the hotel was very friendly with us. There was a problem with a leak in another room and were given a discount without having to ask for it. The rooms aren't amazing, but it bugs me to see reviews of people who expect a 5 star hotel when they book on a budget. The rooms are a bit dated and maybe a bit dusty but the beds, toilet and bathroom are definitly clean. There is 24h access to the hotel (and people moaning about not having a lift, come on.. the building has 3 floors...) There is parking available all around the building (which only cost a couple of euros certain hours during the day) and a walk away from some cafes and restaurants. If you're after a stay on a budget or like us needing to stay a night half way of a long journey then yes do book this. If you are after a 5 star hotel, go elsewhere. Thank you staff, we'll be back in 10 days!

I was depressed at first. The hotel actually said that it had not received the money and asked me to pay again. I said that I had already given it. The hotel gave me the key and said that if I did not receive the money the next morning, I would give it again. I quickly contacted Ctrip and told me after 10 minutes that the money was paid, and I asked the hotel and said I received it. There is a kettle, no slippers, toothpaste, toothbrush, and no Chinese TV. The water pressure in the bathroom is very hot and comfortable. Hot milk and bread for breakfast. Very simple

Absolutely okay hotel but some Fawlty Towers events on day one, like… ▶ We arrived at about 13h at the hotel address then were directed to the check-in which is at another location 280m away (distance measured on Google Earth). We were told that the room would not be ready until 15h, which is fair enough as this time is what is mentioned on the website. We returned at 15h, were given the room keys, and then we traipsed the 280m (with luggage) to the hotel, and on entering the rooms we found that they had not yet been made up — so we had do leave. Finally, at 17h20 we could get access to the cleaned rooms. ▶ When booking, we reserved via the hotel portal instead of booking.com so as not to have the hotel surrender a large booking fee. We paid the stated price with credit card. On checking in we were told that there was an extra fee for taxes, admittedly only a small amount. This is soooooo irritating, as when booking, it was not obvious that the stated price was not the actual price (maybe in some fine print?). ▶ The website states "Hotel with terrace and lounge next to the beach": the hotel is not next to the beach but about 300m away; there is no lounge, or rather the lounge is locked — this should have nothing to do with coronavirus. In other respects all was fine: the rooms were adequate, clean and well maintained.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel with my wife. The view is truly fantastic on the harbor entrance. The bed is excellent. Good products for breakfast including some homemade yogourts and compote. The staff is friendly and keen to apologize for the issues we faced. Clearly this hotel needs to be renovated sooner than later. The room windows do not close any longer, which was a challenge with the beach bar located underneath. You could hear some happy customers late in the evening. I wonder what happens in the winter when the wind is blowing from the southwest. The carpet is totally worn out and stained. The furniture is old and not very practical. The breakfast room with windows on the street is very tiny and crowded. Finally the so-called parking is a joke as it is located in another building with challenging access. I hope the new owner will invest into q full renovation project as the location is a real opportunity. For now I am afraid I will go back to the Mercure or Novotel when visiting Le Havre. It is a shame ...
