0.61km from La Chaumiere en l'IleWell were do I start, I booked a double room at the home latin in paris, back in December before COVID-19 was known about, vis Hotels.com on non refundable rate, in early March - May 2020 COVID-19 had been rampant across france, but late June arrived and we were able to travel and stay at our original booking. Numerous calls during early June to Hotels.com to speak with the hotel to confirm any changes we needed to adhere to due to the virus, the hotel was un-contactable, I arrived in paris on the 29th June for my 2 night stay to find the hotel had shut its doors and the hotel locked with no staff presence. Hotels.com to this day have still not refunded as the hotel have to confirm they're closed, Despite informing them that im on a bench opposite the hotel writing this review £600+ out of pocket, I have no idea if or when Home Latin will reopen as majority of hotels are open for public use now in paris (although still very expensive) but hotels.com think it's ok to sell hotels on their website that are closed. I appreciate that COVID-19 has caused disruption and distress but being in a foreign country with no where to stay and not knowing the language is very distressing. I will never book via Hotels.com again, even though I was sold a non-refundable room I'd expect that to be refunded should the hotel be closed (hotels.com have attempted to call and email on my behalf for over a month without responseits obviously CLOSED!!!) Force Majeure can be activated on all contracts as Home Latin has broken their T&Cs by not responding and most importantly being shut. The story will continue I'm sure. If you book via Hotels.com check the hotel is open guys before you travel as you might arrive to a nasty shock whereby your hotel is unavailable for the duration. We emailed and phoned the hotel prior to coming to paris without success. Very upset customer.
