We booked this stay in Oct 2019. Because of COVID, we had to cancel in Apr 2020. The person i was emailing was rude and abrupt. Maybe a translation issue. I'll let that slide. we booked through booking.com and when we cancelled (a full refund booking) we were told to allow 14 days for money to hit the account. After 15 days I contacted Smartflats again and was told it would be 90 days. I waited 90 days which now took us to the end of August. i chased yet again and was told it would be the end of the year. I replied "unacceptable" give me your GM details. They did. After 12 emails to the GM with no replies at all, I went back to booking.com and they fixed for us. The owners of Smartflats Saint-Jeans Liege are greedy & unhelpful. Do not support this establishment

The good: Right in the center of Liège, across the street from the opera house. It’s a couple of kilometers from the main train station, meaning a short taxi ride or a 10-minute ride on the number 1 or 4 bus. Bed: excellent, as in all Ibis hotels. Bathroom: Superior here than in most Ibises, with a big shower, great water pressure, and plenty of hot water. Noise: Silent. Parking. There’s a garage directly underneath which has an arrangement with the hotel whereby guests pay 10 euros for 24 hours which is more than reasonable. Housekeeping staff: efficient and pleasant, despite an “issue” which I brought to their attention directly rather than “reporting” it to management. The person in question very nicely assumed responsibility for an oversight. Good person. The less good: Bed linens: I hate the fact that Ibis hotels provide only a duvet, with no top sheet. In the case of this particular Ibis, they had the heating on full-blast, and it cannot be controlled individually. Nor can the window be opened, “for security reasons”, they told me. So one has a choice: roast under the duvet, or sleep naked on top of the mattress. Very very unpleasant. I solve it by always carrying my own top sheet with me. Wifi: excellent but connecting is by no means automatic initially. Problem-solving: Ibis has a policy of solving any guest’s problem within 15 minutes. The front desk is staffed by one person at a time who is overworked and cannot absent him/herself even for a moment. My wifi problem was “solved” by my having to come downstairs and have the front desk person tell me that it was my fault. I sat on my second day for about an hour in the little “bar” adjacent and open to the lobby, where I could witness the 15-minute solution which other guests encountered. With no exception, the answer was no, or the guest was mistaken, or whatever. Nothing was ever resolved at all, much less within 15 minutes. The lobby: Essentially non-existent, and the seating area minuscule. Breakfast: I refused to pay 15 euros for an Ibis breakfast. There are many excellent, reasonably priced cafés nearby. Not good. So the whole experience was a mix. Overall, it was probably the least good Ibis experience I have had. I’ve given it a 3- rather than a 2-star rating beause the basics were there: a good bed and a good shower.

We booked a two bedroom apartment with terrace in Liege Smartflats. On arrival, we found we had a one bedroom apartment, plus sofa bed in the lounge, and NO terrace, or indeed any outside space at all. We were sharing with elderly friends, and it was most inconvenient for us to go through the lounge/their bedroom to go to the loo, and inconvenient for them to have to access the only bathroom, which was in our bedroom! As others have remarked, the apartments are incredibly noisy - we assume that as there was no sign of any terraces at the front of the building, our actual booked room would have been at the back of the building, and much quieter. If there is a terrace?? In praise of Smartflats, they did answer the phone, they did phone us back when they said they would and confirmed their mistake, and they have given us a partial refund. But we wouldn't book with them again.

We stayed here for 3 nights during our exhibition in the Opera Building. I like the concept of this apartment where they give to a code to access the street door as well as your door. no reception, no one, when you open the street door and find the elevator and go to your room and open it with the code that have been given to you. The location in the central of shopping area and restaurants. Fast food restaurants just next to your apartment. our two bedrooms apartment in the 3rd has a balcony, large kitchen and living room. Kitchen utensils are work well as well as other equipment. However, for adult people it will not comfortable to climb up the stair to go to the rooms. Internet wasn't work properly although it is free.

We stayed for a weekend in February 2021 and was much busier than expected - took 30 minutes to check-in as reception was very busy. The breakfast was FAB - all cheeses, fresh orange juice, champagne, pastries, hot food, fresh fruit, eggs... You can go back as many times as needed. But during COVID, you have to take it upstairs and often have to queue for the elevator with your tray of food. Cannot be helped though! The staff were all very kind. Only issue is that our hotel room smelt of cigarettes SO much. We called the front desk twice and they then offered us another room, but we had plans and couldn't move all our packing over. The smell did not go away for the whole weekend. We asked the cleaners to change the sheets to help with the smell but they did not. Our friends in another room had the exact same problem. Bathroom is very nice and has heated floor. Good location. Swimming pool is open but maximum of 6 people. You don't book a slot, you just turn up and wait your turn. The spa was closed but it looked very nice. There is a small carpark outside the hotel for about 10 cars, but it was full. There's another car park down the road (100m) for 16 euros per 24 hours. We didn't know about the free hotel parking until after checking in.

We went on a saturday night with 3 friends and booked the familyroom. We stayed at the top floor. Two single beds were next to the bathroom, two single beds were on the mezzanine. The room had a bathroom with shower and a seperate toilet. The bathroom was seperated from the room with a milkglass wall. All beds were very comfortable. One tv on each floor and spacouis build in closeds. Not so good was the lack of shelves and hooks in the bathroom. No room for 4 people to put toiletries or clothes while taking a shower. Staff was super friendly. Large (paying) parking across the road. Breakfast was superb: croissants, fresh bread, salmon, cheese, eggs to order, fresh orange juice. Breakfast and the hotel was much more than I expected from a 3 star small hotel.

A small 3*** hotel in the heart of Liège. Spacious and very clean suite. A bottle of water, tea and coffee available in the room. Well working WiFi. Very nice and helpful ladies and the reception desk and so is the owner. Freshly made breakfast (cheese, ham, butter, jam, different kinds of little rolls including sweet ones, yogurt, orange juice, coffee, tea (12€) served with a smile. No lift and very narrow staircase but the owners offers help with the luggage. A very nice place to stay in Liège.

The hotel has good facilities and very comfortable beds. The skybar on the 10th floor is a big plus with a happy hour from 20hrs to 21hrs: all cocktails cost 7euros. Nice swimming pool too on the 2nd floor. Despite the good facilities the customer experience unfortunately was very poor and unpleasant. Starting from the check in, we asked for some restaurants recommendations in the centre, at first the receptionist was pointing us to the hotel restaurant and didnt want to share any recommendation, luckily another receptionist overheard the conversation and gave us such a good recommendation to go. In the skybar, the staff is not knowledgeable enough in my opinion about the cocktails the menu has. The printed menu you get and the one you scan via a QR code do not match. In the Covid-19 era the sanitazer gel at the main hotel entrance was empty. In the breakfast there's a live cooking show with a chef cooking omelettes, it's not proactively advertised, just because I asked the chef appeared otherwise the chef seems to be missing. The worst disappointment was to find a spider net hanging from my room's ceiling and the annoying noise coming from the AC. After a formal complain to the hotel's manager, she just limited to say sorry and that the issue would be reported to housekeeping. I can not say I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. Considering it's a 4stars hotel, I didn't feel they know what customer orientation means.

I stayed one night in a business room. Room looked like the picture, so it was nice and clean. Staff was nice, i could leave my trolley while I was visitng the city. Location is in front of the main train station, so very good in case you need to take an early train in the morning. I personally found the room very noisy...noise from the street (buses, etc, even if I was not on the side in fron of the station) and from the colling/heating system...thsi last one really never stopped (even if I didn't turned it on). I used ears plugs but still I could hear everyting. I mentioned this a the reception as I clearly asked for a quiet room at the moment of the reservation and this room supposed to be quiet (the first one they proposed me it was almost in fron of teh elevator so prefered another one) but considering also the location I don't think it is possible. I give average as evaluation because of the staff, the possibility to leave my suitcase and the location good as I needed to take a train in the early morning but as I mentioned for comfort I would give a very low evaluation unfortunately because of the noise.

Stayed here one night on the way to Germany. To be honest we selected it on grounds of being a convenient location more than anything to do with cost. Ability to park right near the main door and a very friendly helpful welcome made a good start. A lot has been made on this site about the fact that it is a budget hotel, and what you should and should not expect. We were not expecting anything special, and initially we were happy with our room; the bed for one thing was, in our opinion, quite comfortable. However I see ‘budget’ to mean it still has all the basics, albeit at a basic level. A few things we thought were inadequate even under the ‘budget’ categorisation: - No handle on the inside of the toilet door. - No plug in the wash basin nor any means of ‘plugging’ it to keep a basin of water full. - No kettle. - The ‘hole’ in the shower door acting as the handle led to water getting on the bedroom floor. In addition to all this, to mar our experience further, we were located on the ground floor right by the outdoor table and chairs where people would smoke. From late afternoon to late evening a group of men were smoking and talking; we ended up having to close the window. I opened the window later on but then at 7am the smoke started again. This all led to a disturbed night’s sleep which was the last thing I wanted before a long car journey. Breakfast was ok and typical of what you expect for a B&B European hotel buffet breakfast. Would not stay here again.

Stayed here overnight on way back from Austria with Shearings. We had evening meal laid on of a tasty carrot soup with bread roll, main was jacket potatoes, stuffed chicken breast, a veg side and a sauce. We had for dessert a sponge and mousse strawberry with a jelly glaze and cream. There were tea and coffee available. The room was basic for functional with flat screen TV, desk and chair and good WiFi. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern with shower, soap dispenser in shower and over the sink. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, mini sausages and beans. Good selection of cereals and rolls and bread also croissants and spicy cake slices. Coffee machine and hot water and milk. All in all a good hotel for overnight.

Apparently this is a really small boutique hotel (just 12 rooms?) in a historical building, and the charm is in its architecture. Things to Like: Location - in an alley in the Coeur Historique, close to plenty of restaurants, museums, and a shopping centre. Security - Main entrance stays locked all day and can be accessed by your room key (great peace of mind!) Lobby - Quiet, cozy, feels like your own living room! Rooms - Really quiet (at least the one I stayed in), nicely furnished, with high-tech integrated lighting/temperature controls, a full minibar, and superbly moisturizing hand soap in the bathroom. Again, the architecture! And well...depending on how you look at things...you may still like: Non-24-hr Reception - closes at 9pm, so make sure to arrive at the hotel prior to that time; if leaving early in the morning, will need to check out the evening before! No elevators (some rooms are two floors above; pack light!) Central A/C - reception will need to adjust the room temp for you; the in-room control, however high tech it seems, doesn't do much here. Housekeeping - the shower gel bottle in my bathroom was empty (discovered after 9pm, so had to use the hand soap instead); also, the wine glasses seemed wet from prior use (!). A nice boutique hotel - if housekeeping could pay attention to the details they could easily earn 5 stars from me.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay, although the hotel is fairy comfortable and the reception staff very polite and friendly, the rooms are a bit on the small side due to the very large beds, bathroom has a good shower. The housekeeping in the rooms are not good, bin in the bathroom never emptied, there is a tissue box in the bathroom which had 6 tissues in it, that was never refilled, there is a kettle with coffee, tea bags and coffee creamer, they were never replaced. The sink in the bathroom was never cleaned or the shelf wiped, they ask you to reuse towel which we did, but on the last day, they bedding was changed, why? The breakfast was awful, scrambled eggs very overcooked and hard, often had to wait ten minutes before they were replenished, also had to wait for sliced bread for toast. The bacon was very fatty and not hot, one day there were omelettes, they were completely cold. No fresh fruit for cereal. No marmalade, only jams. There were never enough staff in the breakfast room, being small they need to be clearing tables, often had to move dirty plates to find a seat.

This beautiful B&B is perfect for a weekend trip to Liège. The entire place is clean and tidy. The rooms are a good size and everything has been considered, including a fan for warm summer nights. The large jacuzzi is spotless and the garden is kept tidy. Ask for anything at breakfast and the hosts will do their best to provide it! It is well-located, within walking distance of the centre of town. The hosts are happy to provide tips on places to eat and drink and things to do. We would definitely stay here again!

The Campanile Liege is very typical of the Campanile franchise. It is a suitable distance from the Channel crossings for an easy journey with a contingency for traffic or crossing delays, and i have stayed there several times in the past, including last year. The accommodation, facilities and food are well up to best Campanile standards and meet all my requirements for an overnight stay. It is easily accessible from motorways, although a very complex junction has to be navigated, and satnavs tend to route through centre of Liege for journeys eastwards and that involves slow traffic and diversions for roadworks.
