Hotels Near La Fromagerie In Leysin Review

We had a three night stay at the Leysin lodge for a short family break, and decided on the Leysin Lodge so be able to cater for our children as slightly fussy eaters rather than paying Swiss restaurant prices only for them to leave what they had ordered! The lodges are basic but functional, a refurb is probably due for the lodges that haven’t already been upgraded, but there’s still nothing wrong with them other than the odd scratch or dent here and there. The view from the balcony was simply stunning and every time I went outside I was in awe at the picture postcard view. The kids loved their bunk bed bedroom and our beds in the main bedroom were also very comfortable indeed. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery, pans and cutlery, but could have done with a few more cooking utensils, ie wooden spoon, spatula etc. A couple of extra English TV channels would be a great addition too, we were VERY up to date with the views of Sky News by the time we left, it seems there is more choice in a variety of other languages, but only news channels in English. The reception staff were friendly and efficient and had items to hand that you could by such as fuel for the fondue set provided in each lodge, along with the facility to order bread and pastries for delivery in the mornings if you don’t want to drive into the village. We never had an issue with parking, this is strictly monitored at one car per lodge and registration numbers are taken to enforce this. You can pick up/drop off up at reception, then park the car back down the hill in the car park, it’s just a five minute walk back up to the lodges. We loved our time at the Leysin Lodge and will definitely return. It’s not luxury, but will provide a great base for a relaxing family break in the stunning Swiss mountains.

We visited this Hotel before the skiers had arrived for the skiing season and it was very quiet. We loved the view from the room as we were fortunate enough to have a view across the mountains. We arrived when there was no snow and still very beautiful however the snow did arrive and transformed the view to heavenly. The rooms where spacious and very comfortable, we had a small balcony. The bar restaurant was very nice and comfortable with lovely views over the valley from the dining area. The hotel is also within driving distance of Montreaux which is a fantastic visit when the Xmas markets are on.

Spent a couple of nights in this family run hotel. It is clean and all the staff were friendly. I had a large room with balcony and kitchen. The decor is a bit dated but nothing you could really criticise. No tea or coffee making facilities, which is the norm for a lot of Swiss hotels, but there was no bar or vending machines or communal area which is a shame. Breakfast was ok, although they were still setting it up when I arrived, which was after the opening time. Reception is not manned 24 hours and I had to go looking for someone to check me out. Location is good and the main attractions area walkable.
