The hotel is in an old palazzo and is a lovely place to stay - away from the hustle and bustle of the lower town. We were able to pull up nearby and the staff then took the car and parked it for us for the duration of our stay which was helpful. Our room was beautiful and very large and looked out over the nearby square. The bathroom was a decent size and very clean. The hallway outside our room was beautifully decorated with some fabulous old furniture. The only problem for me was that the bed was old and rock-hard but that is just a preference for me - I prefer a softer bed but my husband slept well. Breakfast each day was excellent with a good variety of bakes, fruit, cheese, cold meats and yogurts. We ate the first night at the restaurant, Locando del Colonello, and the food there was superb. There is also a cafe/bar which serves light food and drinks throughout the day and there are tables outside where you can sit. Situated in the upper town, there are some nice churches to see nearby and Rapa Enoteca over the road is well worth a visit - try their sample menu for great food and a selection of wines. It is easy to walk to whatever you want to in the lower town - a bit more of a hike back up especially in the heat of midday so maybe worth a taxi back if you find walking uphill difficult. Lovely friendly staff who were really helpful and booked a tour of Bonajuto chocolate factory for us. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

The prices are low, the rooms are clean, comfortable and Roselina is an excellent host, going out of her way to make you feel comfortable, which seems to be her highest priority. We had many lovely stays during our two weeks in Sicily but this was by far the best! We were lucky enough to stay in the Time Suite which was stunningly beautiful from the painted ceiling with chandelier to the beautiful bathroom encircled with books (once the home's library) to the lovely wrap around balcony with sweeping views of the beautiful town of Modica. The place has a laid back vibe with a delicious breakfast spread, access to the kitchen all day to make a coffee or whatever you want and two terraces with lovely gardens, jacuzzis and tables to enjoy the outdoors. The owner was welcoming but stayed out of your hair unless you needed something. The home was previously his grandfathers and a lot of the furnishings had been in the home for generations. This may make it sound stuffy but it was anything but! There were modern touches everywhere. The attention to detail to ensure your stay is comfortable was really unbelievable. They had a separate set of toiletries for men and women which were top notch and smelled divine, plush robes and even slippers. We wished we were staying here for longer as this part of Sicily has many beautiful villages to explore nearby. We were able to park our rental car on the street above and kept it there for our entire stay which was no problem. It was also easy to walk to all the sites of Modica provided you don't have an issue with stairs. Truly the perfect location!

We stayed for about a week in Room 5 (by the breakfast room). The room is beautiful with a high painted fresco ceiling. Wifi was excellent. The location of the B&B is also excellent, with all of the amenities right outside your door. Room 5 has french doors that open onto a balcony with a stunning view of upper Modica. But it also opens onto the main drag, so there is noise when the doors are open, and others from across/above can see in. So we had to sleep with the balcony doors closed. The proprietors do not speak English. Of course traveling to Italy one cannot expect their hosts to speak English, but it is a huge plus if they do. When their English speaking daughter arrived, she was a big help to us. We had two relatively minor complaints. One is that there is no common area available to guests, so If one of you wakes up in the middle of the night, there is nowhere outside of your room to sit and read or use your computer. When we had friends, there was nowhere to invite them into. The other is that the breakfast is just okay. They provide pieces of whole fruit, but no fruit salad. There are no cooked dishes. The various items (bread, pastries) are fine but nothing special. Despite these minor complaints, overall we were happy with our stay, especially the location, view, and beauty of the room.

We had an enjoyable stay at this newly built hotel despite the poorly designed bed plinth which does cause problems. The location is very good being situated at one end of the lower city and two minutes from the bus station for day trips to Ragusa and Scicli. We arrived by train at the other end of the city and should have pre-booked a taxi as they are hard to find...could not pick us up at the time of our arrival. A few minutes walk to the main lower sights, tourist train, etc. The bedroom was small, modern with a street view and we did not experience any excessive traffic noise. Bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was good although no fresh orange juice and the young male waiter was excellent. Nice, comfortable interiors with inexpensive food and drinks. There is the huge bonus of a private outdoor swimming pool although more sun umbrellas are needed by the pool. Staff overall were helpful. The hotel is inexpensive so you cannot expect 5 star quality but it is great value...just wish they would change the bed plinths!

The location of the hotel is very good, in a narrow pedestrian street just above the main street, Corso Umberto and the museum of Modica. The hotel is clean, spacious, although it has only seven guest rooms. The rooms have lovely ceilings, painted by a local artist. Ours had beautiful 'margheritas'.The scenic views from the terrace upstairs are unforgettable. The staff were very friendly. And the breakfast was was good, cappuccino excellent. Some samples of Modica chocolate were available .All in all a warm, cozy, friendly town.

I stayed here in June 2018 for a work trip. It was a little difficult to find but it was worth the wait! The staff here were so friendly and accommodating. Giovanni who is the owner and Maria who works there were helpful and ever so lovely. This is a family run hotel and you get that authentic Italian feel from the place. The owner was more than happy to tell me all about the building and it's history. The hotel was very clean and the decor was lovely I would describe it as traditional with a modern twist. Breakfast was included. Overall I would recommend this hotel to others who are looking for somewhere traditional and in the middle of Modica near to plenty of restaurants. Not suitable for people with mobility issues as the hotel is up stairs and no wheelchair access. There is no parking and you have to park on the street, but it cost around 2.40 euros for half a day and you can pick up parking from any tobacco shop.

There is much to recommend this hotel. It's very quiet as it's in the middle of Sicilian farmland, the rooms are spacious and the swimming pool large. However there are some caveats, since the hotel has no bar, provides no dinner and breakfast only adequate and exactly the same every day.. There are a couple of OK trattoria nearby and Modica (a delightful Baroque town) about 15 minutes by car but the roads are narrow and all look the same, so a decent map of the island is absolutely vital! The setting is impressive indeed, almost theatrical but this hotel lacks soul and that is a pity as it's a good place from which to explore that part of Sicily. The coast is about half an hour assuming you don't get lost and head for Marina Modica a charming sandy beach with a very decent cafe/restaurant Corallo.

The hotel is modern and clean but rather tucked away in the new part of Modica. There's not much here for a tourist and the old town is a drive away.A main road runs just behind the hotel so there is constant traffic noise when round the pool. While the reception staff and cleaner are all pleasant and helpful, the restaurant was not up to much. The buffet breakfast would have been fine if the staff kept the food topped up. We had to keep asking for more bread to be brought out and the hot food was invariably just a scraping left (and rarely hot). More scrambled eggs, for example, would eventually be brought if asked but usually just enough for a couple of servings and then it would run out again. Dinner was ok but the limited menu didn't change all week so we ended up driving out to local restaurants. The most entertaining aspect was watching the robot lawn mower careering round the lawns and bumping into everything.

This hotel should be rated 5 Stars! The front staff were the friendliest I've seen! We were caught cycling in the rain and arrived cold and soaking wet. We stayed at Il Granaio for a weekend. The site is a little way out of Modica so it is very quiet. The pool area is beautiful, lots of trees that create a pleasant atmosphere. Our room, a junior suite had all the amenities and included a jacuzzi. It was very comfortable. We had lunch a couple of times, everything was very fresh, and mouthwatering. Lunch is provided in the gazebo, the shade and breeze make it perfect for a summer lunch. We also enjoyed dinner at Il Granaio, a 4 course meal at only 28 euro per person, fresh, delicious ingredients, with the meal being provided in a balcony area overlooking the fields, it couldn't have been more beautiful. The service throughout was super. I sprained my foot quite badly whilst in Modica and the staff at Il Granaio were on hand to provide me with ice and offered to drive us to the pharmacy. They were really very kind. They also have a lovely spa where you can have a massage. Last thing, the cakes and sweets offered at breakfast time were delicious. Really well done Il Granaio, a beautiful location, great service and delicious food. Would love to visit again.

With a group of friends, we decided to spend a couple of days after a party to relax and enjoy all together. We arrived in the late evening of Thursday. The place is like a village with a reception in the centre surrounded by the buildings with the rooms. Outside the reception, there are not signals to guide you so you need to check building by building where is your room by going in the front of each door. First thing in the room the air conditioner was broken and stuck with in a very cold temperature and impossible to change. Some lights were broken and the worst thing was NO HOT WATER. We called the reception and she said it was a normal thing as the boiler was busy to prepare the water for the next day. That's crazy, a structure of 4 stars big like a village with no hot water during the night?? The breakfast is scandalous, just a bit of cheap fat ham and cheese, some old boiled eggs and terrible bakeries probably from days before. Could you believe that in a 4 stars hotel for a toast you need to use a dirty toaster left in the middle of a table unplugged and that you need to plug in every time you want to use?? Yes, it's true. The pool is big but there is not any member staff or security. No bar, so you need to go all the way out to the reception, which is far, even if you are in swimwear and wet. Umbrellas and chairs broken, pool dirty. Terrible customer service, we were looking for the bathroom but there was no one you can ask to so when we saw a lady coming out from the main building (probably a masseuse from the spa) we kindly asked where it was, and she replied: ”Why don't you ask the lifeguard of the pool?!” ”Sorry, there is no one!” ”Really!?, I will speak with the reception” ”ok, please where is the nearest toilet?” ”There is one inside and one outside near the pool” ”where is the on the outside near the pool?” ”there, can't you able to read?!” (There was a small signal far away hidden by some stuff) This is unacceptable. A member of staff speaking to a customer like this is unacceptable. Finally, it was time for lunch... Terrible service and terrible food. We decided to try the fish menu. Really bad quality, poor portions and service like a school canteen. I can't believe this place is 4 stars. It's ridiculous. We will never come back.

The hotel has a real, free, parking. The room was very spacious, never had such a big room. I guess 5x7meters. The bed was very big too. There also was a big couch, with much space around. A small desk with TV and minibar completed the equipment. The view though the windows wasn't really special, not good, but not bad either. The breakfast buffet: as there were not that many customers, the buffet was a bit limited. The first morning we were asked if we wanted eggs, the second morning one didn't ask. We were also asked what kind of coffee we'd like to get. A second cup, one had to ask. There were also fruit juices and fresh fruits, alongside many kinds of cake. The neighborhood wasn't special, nothing to see/to do; +/- 3km away from the centre of Modica. No traffic noise in the room.

We called this Agriturismo restaurant a couple of days before our visit asking for a cooking class. They kindly opened the place just for us (10 people) and let us all in the kitchen for 2 hours during the preparation of a 4 course meal, which we could afterwards enjoy in the beautifully restored old dining room. Room was adequate, more or less clean, dark and a bit musty. Say 3/5. Food was genuinely awful, the only mediocre meal we had in Sicily; the pasta al ragù looked and tasted like Olive Garden. Stay at The Villa Igiea, incredible is an understatement... really! Staying here felt more like a privilege then just another resort stay, and being invited into its history... between Italy and Sicily. I still can't believe how well preserved and maintained this seaside luxury resort has been kept up. I booked my stay because I wanted a true Sicilian experience and The Villa Igiea delivered it spot on. I planned seven nights in Sicily, my first three nights here, arrival was warm, courteous and welcoming... I was upgraded to an ocean view suite that was large, comfortable, cozy, high ceilings, large windows that opened and working shutters, killer views of boats, working harbor, ocean, grounds and amazing sunsets! Let me be clear about something, The Villa Igiea embodies old world luxury inside and out, very much reminds me of the Reids Palace on the island of Madeira, but in Sicilian sophistication and style. If your hotel preference is shinny, bright and new, then this resort will be too sophisticated with its old world elegance for you... Enough said I found the resorts staff to give five star service, every meal delicious, ingredients fresh and ingeniously prepared, daytime poolside relaxing, evening strolls romantic [even solo] decor befitting the history and location excellent for adventures off property. I would, and have, not only recommended The Villa Igiea but Sicily also, making it a perfect island and historical amazing vacation destination, add it to your list! Here are just a few of my treasured memories and photo's. Enjoy every adventure ahead of you and the diversity our planet offers

The room is super big, and the boxes are just spread out. Because Palermo is not big, it is convenient to go anywhere. The front desk provides a map, but the Italian cannot be read, so I still rely on Google. One thing to complain about is that the door of the room is a bit loose. As long as someone opens and closes the door, it will ping-pong. The first night we thought someone was opening our door, which scared us to death. Later, when the problem was discovered, the cabinet with the luggage was completely dead and quiet. Personally, this is still a big problem.

Just came back from a 16-day trip to Sicily and we loved every bit of it! Palermo was the last stop of our trip and we spent 4 nights at the Quattro Canti B&B. Location is excellent, just right opposite the Fontana Pretoria (fountain of shame) and few steps away from the beautiful Quattro Canti junction. Teatro Massimo is a convenient 10mins walk away and the airport bus is round the corner in front of Rinascente. We felt very safe in this area and there are many restaurant options within 5 mins walk. We had a room on the second floor facing the next building hence not much of a view. Room is okay overall and bed is firm and comfy. The restaurant on the top floor has a good view. Special thanks to Bernadetta at the front desk who was extremely helpful with all our needs.

Because it is the last stop of the journey, and considering the hotel chain, our vigilance is reduced. When I went to breakfast, I didn't lock the suitcase. When I returned to China, I found that one thousand yuan in the suitcase was gone. I suspect it was stolen in this hotel, because there are lock boxes in other places, and staying here. The RMB in front of the hotel has always been there. I have seen the experience of other people before I traveled. I know that Italy has such a theft incident. I didn’t expect it to happen to myself.
