nice-ish view (not the ideal Puerto Varas view of Osorno over the lake), and the two different bedroom apartments we stayed in had ample room to relax; also, if you don’t mind a short walk to town for dinner (which we actually enjoy), this is a nice location; now for the not-so-good stuff: if you use a toilet, it will plug for sure, even if you are an informed visitor of South America (NEVER put toilet paper in the toilet to flush!), shower heads would not stay in place (not sure why they need to be watering the shower walls all the time?), and the buffet breakfast seemed over-priced based on what you actually get (Nescafé coffee is never a good sign...food a bit cafeteria-like...admittedly there was fresh fruit and one can request eggs); in summary, we would not go back (based on two separate one-night stays in two different, though similar units, the two visits separated by about a week; one breakfast only, as we were so disappointed by the fare offered on our first visit that we declined breakfast on the second and went elsewhere)....

We stayed here for two nights on a Natural Wonders of Chile holiday with Llama Travel. On arrival we received a warm welcome and were quickly checked into our room which was clean, comfortable & enormous. The room had a safe, hairdryer, toiletries, sofa, large TV and plenty of storage space but unfortunately no tea or coffee making facilities. Breakfast was fantastic with a range of hot food plus mashed avocado, cheese, meats, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries etc. I was very surprised to see Gluten free cakes and dairy free options. As a vegetarian I felt I had so much choice. The waiter also kindly filled our flask with hot water to which we added tea bags to compensate for the lack of facilities in our room. The hotel is in a great location a short walk to the lake and the museum. We took a public bus to Frutillar which was well worth a visit.

We stayed here for four nights in a studio suite with volcano view. The hotel is in a great location and is close to both shopping and the lakefront. The room was quite large and had a lovely view of the volcano, but I felt like the space was somewhat wasted as there was a large empty space between the bed and a small chaise lounge at the other end of the room. There was a small table with two chairs but no desk. The room was pretty tired looking, with a couple of holes in the curtain sheers and carpet that looked like it had seen better days. There is a small fridge in the room that was mostly filled with minibar items. The air conditioner worked fine but was rather noisy. The bed was quite firm and not very comfortable. The bathroom could have used more space as the toilet was situated between the shower and bathtub. While the room seemed clean in general, there was grime on the grout of some of the shower tiles and especially around the shower door, which was a real turn-off. The shower was equipped with a handheld shower head that was supposed to fit into an overhead stand but it often did not fit and fell out, causing the water to leak through the shower door and flood the bathroom floor. Breakfast was decent with some nice additions like smoked salmon and avocado, but there wasn't a lot of variety in terms of hot dishes. Given the ratings and the price we paid for the room, I was expecting luxury but ultimately what we got was an oversized but very average room with a nice view at a high price.

We found language to be a barrier in this hotel. Few employees had a grasp on what we were trying to tell them in English. Our fault for not knowing Spanish. We really had a hard time telling the desk that we wanted a top sheet. The accommodations were lovely. Our room was a corner room and quite nice. They also don't carry much cash. I paid for a bar tab of 2700 with a 20000 peso bill. They gave me 10000 and the rest in coin. I wanted to break a 10000 down so I would have some tip money for an excursion. The clerk had to reach in his own wallet to see if he had any to give me. One thing very nice is they have an elevator on one end that takes you to lake level. The security lock on the gate to get back in is in need of repair. I had to insert my card several times to gain re-entrance. OK, so the room, dining, bar, location was great. The doormen were friendly. I imagine if I knew more Spanish that I would have enjoyed it more. Lovely place.

Spent 4 nights here up on the top floor. Massive bed and room with good bathroom with view of the lake and the volcano beyond, when the clouds permitted. Location: a short 10min walk in to town so easy but without the noise of traffic & people outside your window. Breakfast: The best so far in our tour. We chose fruit, yoghurt, berries, granola & wholemeal toast plus eggs. Good pleasant service but the coffee was weak. Reception: very helpful in finding me a therapist for my hurt back. Room cleaned well. Food: Burger bar downstairs convenient and tasty. Made me up a meat free salad which was very tasty. Do try Santos Fuego restaurant on the way in to town whilst you’re in Puerto Varas. I fear this hotel has raised the bar and subsequent hotels will not match up.

Myself and girlfriend stayed at Hostel Climbhouse as part of a 10 week backpacking trip around South America. The hostel was located outside of town, but getting an taxi was super easy. From the second we arrived at the hostel, our hosts were incredibly accommodating. They spoke great English (which helps) and were on hand to get us settled in. We had a private room, with twin single beds which was incredibly comfortable. The hostel is beautifully constructed in a rustic hipster style, but the real selling point is that they have a full climbing gym below the hostel. We were able to access this throughout our entire stay, it even had other equipment for working out (which I’d missed a lot). We also hired kayaks which were available on site, and were easily launched from the lake across the road. There were hikes close by, but we took an hours bus ride to walk around the volcano Cerro Osorno, which was stunning. I couldn’t recommend this hostel more strongly. It’s quite special.
