It’s really ten minutes to walk from the train station, but I took the bus twice when I dragged the big box in and out. The hotel in this state will give me a free bus ticket. There are 2 roads in front of the hotel that can go directly to the train station. The single room is just perfect for one person. A big box can be spread out, the wardrobe is enough, and there are enough TV channels including CNN and BBC. There is a small gym. I asked the front desk for the key. Although it stopped at 8 o'clock in the evening, I asked the front desk to take the initiative to use it. I couldn't find the switch to find someone to help me patiently and enthusiastically. I didn't dislike it at all. mean. The front desks I met were very good, especially the one at check-out. The luggage room was open consciously. She said that she put my computer bag under the desk at the front desk to help me watch it until 6 o’clock in the evening. When picking up the luggage, she asked me if I wanted to use the bathroom, which was really touched. The shower head works very well, it’s a bit embarrassing that the basin cannot be plugged, and there are no bath products. The bedding is not very comfortable, and the two-star hotel should not be too demanding, it is very clean and very satisfying. The breakfast included is really mediocre. Don't eat the croissant. You need to pay for the fried egg.

|2km from city centerI am very pleased by my 1-night stay, this is a very nice hotel, all clean, the bed is very (!) comfortable, the stuff is really friendly and of cause, speaks good English. That was an emergency stay for me, cause my friends flat didn’t have a heating, so we stayed overnight here, and we checked in after 19.00 and that was possible! The view from a balcony is stunning! In Italy just across the border prices are much higher. If you want to explore Lugano, this is your choice!

|0.36km from city centerThis hotel close to the main train station shares its lovely grounds with a hostel. Our room was up a flight of stairs so suitcases had to be lugged up with no elevator. Our room had a balcony, but no curtains across the glass doors. Fortunately, there were shutters that could be closed to block the morning light and some of the train station noise. Alas, part of the convenience of being close to train station is train noise. Proper use of earplugs takes care of this issue. The bathroom is small and bath gel is provided only in tiny pouches. The bed is comfy and they provided an extra pillow on request. There a small frig and welcome AC in this warm part of Switzerland.

Warm, warm, free drinks and drinks in the lobby. Wangzhong is quiet. The surrounding shopping restaurant is very convenient, a few steps to the lake. Recommended to stay. The structure is very central, it is located in the street behind Riva Vincenzo Vela (head street along the lake) and near the LAC parking house. Many beautiful shops are found there. From there you can reach the beautiful old town in a few minutes, where you can sit in the cafe or look at attractions. I would like to highlight the service provided by Francesco. I had forgotten my expensive professional hairdryer in the bathroom at the departure. I was immediately informed after the departure that the cleaning power had found my hairdryer. I was fortunately still on the ground and could still pick it up. Since the cleaning power couldn't wait long, I had not much time, but he was concerned to find a solution so that I could have my hairdryer back. Very exemplary! At this point I don't understand some negative reviews, if for someone respect and friendship is a foreign word, then you don't have to expect it to come back. The shop is not the door of the hotel. Don’t walk through it. You can walk downhill from the train station. There is a steep slope and it is recommended to go down the mountain. It is a little tired to go up the mountain. If you have a Swiss Pass, you can take the cable car down for free. The room is very light and the decoration is very fresh. From the hotel, go to the opposite direction of the train station and quickly go to the lake. The cruise ship terminal is on the left hand side of the exit, and the pier is further a park. A hotel I like more, small and exquisite.

The fitness/sauna was unfortunately closed, but private spa was bookable before departure Sunday morning ... good alternative. The gardens around the sky! The staff was the kindest I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. Sure the decor isnt anything to praise and they dont have room service or other basics but it is clean and efficient. I have to say one more time that the staff here is just amazing, every single one of them. I would recommend this hotel.

Strategic location near the lake, the hill funicular and bus 2 and 3 lines across the whole city centre of Lugano (optimal free bus and trains with the ticket ticket) Free parking but to check in in case of high influx. Excellent breakfast, nothing missed. Small but clean and accessories rooms. There is no air conditioning, but ventilators on the ceiling, We had a hot night and the owner provided us with a portable air conditioner. The best of the kinds of children are the righteous owners, husband and wife, who are also prepared and willing to tell us about the best activities to do with the children.

Lots of shopping and restaurants right behind the hotel and a very nice lake walk to the front of the hotel.The lake is Beautiful anytime but after dark all the houses around the lake light up which is nice. Room 354 offers great views of the lake and has a large bath and separate shower which is great. Breakfast is good and has a selection of meat’s eggs cheeses and pastries along with the usual fair for a buffet breakfast. Parking is a pain although they validate your parking which is good. There is a small area out front of the hotel to unload your bags which makes things easier. Not a bad stay but my only complaint was the beds! boy are they low and uncomfortable.

|1.47km from city centerMy wife and I stayed at the Grand Hotel in early August. The place is a gem. A complete mix of old and new world. We had a garden room which had a nice den area, great bathroom and small deck. The staff at breakfast and happy hour are very attentive and very well trained. The views from breakfast and happy hour are second to none. The outdoor ”great lawn” area is delightful and the ”beach” was much better than I could have imagined. We swam in the lake often and enjoyed it more than expected. The walk to town is 15 minutes with a lovely park and beautiful scenery along the way. If we went back to Lugano there is no doubt we'd stay there again.

|1.15km from city centerThis could have been a good hotel, albeit quite pricy, but somehow justifiable through its location. But unfortunately I had the WORST ever experience I ever had in any hotel, anywhere. On the good part: Good location in Paradiso, on the promenade, 15 min walk on the promenade to the center of Lugano. Nice lobby, good breakfast and friendly staff (at the breakfast, and partly at the reception). But the good stuff ended here. This stay was part of a multi-city trip with three stays and I simply forgot at check-in time that the booking was actually for lake side-view room. We arrived and completed check-in by 2:30. The lady at the front-desk told us the room is not ready and we need to wait till 3pm. I asked her kindly if she can check with the housekeeping if room is ready, being only 30 min left till 3pm, but she just told ”no, it's not”. Then I asked her to give us a lake or at least lake-side view, but she told that the hotel is fully booked and our room is with pool view. We didn't wanted to wait till the room is ready, so we just left the luggage and got to the city. We returned at the hotel late, by 9:30 - 10pm and when we got to the room (I think 315) we had the unpleasant surprise to see the ugly view from the balcony (construction site or quarry). In the bath the stopper was stuck and the sink quickly filled with dirty water. I called the reception to fix, the lady from check-in came but she told there's no-one in the hotel at this hour to fix, and she left. So I had to put my hands into the sink filled with dirty water and take off the stopper. Then we wanted to turn on the TV which didn't worked. I called the reception again, and someone came, took the remote to change its batteries, but the TV didn't started either. So he told the TV might be broken and they try to fix it the next day. I found finally that the TV was stopped actually from the hardware power button, because the remote power button actually didn't worked. All this added to my frustration, and I finally realized that I actually booked a room with lake-side view, which they didn't gave me. So I went to the reception, showed them the actual reservation confirmation and asked again for the room I paid for, which they told they cannot because everything is full. I asked to change my room the next day as booked, or I'll make an official complain to the Tourist Authority. Few minutes later I got a phone call from the reception, telling me there is a manager available, and if he can come to see the room and talk. I said of course. My mistake! At the door arrived the lady who checked me in, accompanied by a person, who stepped int the room and asked me what is the problem. I started to tell him we are booked for a side-lake view but we didn't it, but he interrupted me and started to raise his voice, telling why I keep complaining! What I don't like about the room? Isn't the furniture new and the walls newly painted? I told I never complained about what he says, I just want to get

The rooms are dated accompanied by a damp smell, the mattress and pillows are horribly uncomfortable, and the walls are extremely thin - there was a child staying at the opposite end of the hall from where I was crying and screaming through the early hours of the morning, and just as other reviews have stated, it was if they were in my room! They have a small fitness center located on the 5th floor, which is only accessible by stairs. It does not open until 9 AM since it’s located on the top floor which was a bit inconvenient, especially since their breakfast ends at 10 AM. The only plus side to the hotel is the location - directly on the lake with a pool, it is a beautiful setting. However, if you are looking for a better quality room and higher level service, I would recommend staying across the street at Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola!

|0.98km from city centerWe stayed here for 1 night whilst travelling from the UK to Italy. Our stay did not start well unfortunately. We arrived in the middle of some roadworks outside the hotel and in the surrounding area. Coupled with the fact that we had a roofbox on our car, reception suggested that we entered the hotel car park via a different entrance rather than the one a short distance from reception on the hotel grounds. The receptionist wasn't very aware of the roadworks and proceeded to vaguely show me on the map how to get to the other car park entrance. It was clear she did not know and actually told me the wrong way! It took me 25 mins to find the correct route to the car park entrance due to the deviations, roadworks and traffic! Not a great start. Next, I arrived at the room that we had been allocated - I had booked a deluxe room (for 3 people through hotels.com) - this was not a deluxe room, although much bigger it was a ground floor apartment with 2 separate bedrooms with no air conditioning and a lounge a couple of short corridors away from the bedrooms which did have air conditioning! Bearing in mind the daytime temperatures at the time were 33-34 degrees, we were not going to have a good night sleep! Back to reception to complain, initially saying that they did not have any other rooms left however they did eventually offer us a deluxe room with air conditioning that fed nicely into the main bedroom - that is all we wanted and what I had actually booked! They set up a third bed in the room for my daughter, problem solved! Location was very good with excellent views of the lake, a 10-15 mins walk into the centre which was fine for us. Buffet breakfast was excellent, we chose to sit outside on a lovely terrace with lake views. Service was very good. We then used the outside pool facilities and loungers until mid afternoon - again all excellent, clean, lovely pool, and when we left, we were sad that we could only stay for 1 night! In the end the room problems were resolved, the morning receptionists providing us with a free drink in the bar for the inconveniences caused however it could have been avoided if I had been given the room that I had booked from the start and better training should be given to the receptionists so that they know exactly what instructions to give to clients on how to reach the hotel car park. Would I stay here again? Yes, I would.

They accommodated our every need, and when my father had a heart attack in Lugano one very kind man from the staff drove me to the hospital. They upgraded our room and made sure we were comfortable. The hotel is close to restaurants, shopping and the lake. You can see the lake from the balcony. We will surely be coming here again.
