3.52km from Lake Victoria ParkWe stayed at Red Roof Inn, Springfield in March 2020 whilst travelling Route 66. We booked a king room on Hotels.com prior to arrival. Check in was quick and we were given the keys to our king room - non smoking. When we opened the door we were immediately hit with the smell of stale cigarette smoke. We went back to reception and told them the situation and he offered us an accessible king room. The room didn’t smell as bad but there was still a musty smell about it. The carpet was also filthy, as was the bed cover. The towels were also a shade of grey instead of white. We didn’t get much sleep that night, as the people in the next room must have been chain smoking insomniacs. They were going outside every 10 minutes all night for a smoke (unfortunately for us their door creaked every time it was opened) and their cigarette smoke filtered into our room via the air con. Needless to say we checked out first thing. When the guy on reception asked if we had a good stay, we told him what happened and he said he couldn’t control what the guests did. If I had to give any positives, there was a microwave, fridge and coffee maker in the room, but we stayed well clear of them to be honest. The bed sheets under the dirty cover were clean and the bed was comfortable despite the lack of sleep. Needless to say, I would NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE. Please heed my advice and stay elsewhere. You will regret it if you don’t.
