A very comfortable hotel to stay! The villa is located in a high-rise area with a large independent garden, which is managed by the landlady, and it is very pleasant to sit in the garden and look down the mountain. This family of three stayed, booked a double room + a single room, very clean, the bathroom is very spacious, there is free tea coffee, you can borrow the plug for free, and you can enjoy one free during each stay. Afternoon tea (Scotti + tea). The landlord was very enthusiastic. When we checked in, she recommended various travel routes and told me how to travel. The hotel can help with taxis, from the hotel to the nearest town of 3.5 pounds, about 25 minutes walk, and a taxi to the train station 6 pounds, cheaper than the bus.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special and welcomed. We had drinks in the lounge area and veranda enjoying the spectacular views. The staff were all dressed smartly, and I got the impression they all loved working there. I had booked for my wife’s birthday and had also booked a table in the Henrock restaurant inside the hotel. The food was amazing, delicious and perfectly presented and served. Each delicious course was the lead up to the most amazing dessert I have ever eaten, and it was a rhubarb based dessert, which under normal circumstances is a contradiction where desserts are concerned normally, however this was an explosion of delicious tastes and textures. Would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant and we both hope to return, sooner rather than later.

Me and my boyfriend have just returned home from a weekend stay at Brookfield Guest House. As soon as we arrived Karen came out and made us feel extremely welcome. It was self check in due to Covid and 24 hours before we was emailed a code for the key safe. When we arrived to the room it was beautiful. Due to it being my birthday, Karen had left a beautiful bunch of flowers and a bottle of Prosecco. The bed was extremely comfy and the rooms are very spacious! Tea, coffee and biscuits available in room, ordered your breakfast the day before and that did not disappoint!!!! The walk into Windermere is around 10/15 minutes, it can be quite dangerous at night due to there being no path... but we got a taxi home that cost £3.60. This did not effect our stay one bit! Thank you for such a wonderful stay, you made my birthday very special for me :)

There is a pool, but there is no pool. The front desk service is not good, I feel that I am too lazy to take care of you, and seeing the child will force the extra bed to charge 35 fat one night, a bit arrogant. The room attendant was very nice and the waiter in the restaurant was very good.

The spa lodges look amazing, but ours was in need of a refurbishment, especially the sauna, the soft furnishings are amazing, but when you look beyond that, the basic structure is tired and grubby. All the room service is via an app. Breakfast was delivered and was fantastic, loads of choice and really good. In the evening room service is limited to food from spice , and whilst that food is amazing, sometimes you’d just like a burger or an omelette. Considering the hotel has two on site restaurants more effort could be made there. You also had to pay a £10 per person cover charge, not a great look. You couldn’t order drinks on the app, which is a big miss and frankly a pain. There was a mini bar, but it wasn’t great. Couple of gins, whisky and a couple of half bottles of wine. The bar in the main hotel was ok, but expensive. I don’t mind a bit of a lift for a bottle of larger, but twice a pub price is a bit rich. We had a number of difficulties during our stay, some small and some large. I have written to the owner and the manager regarding our stay, and have been ignored, which I consider unbelievable considering the is supposed to be a 5* hotel. On our first night we were kept awake all night, by the sound akin to someone blowing over the top of a bottle at the bottom of the bed. We reported this to reception who informed us that we were not the only lodge to report it, and maintenance were going to investigate. I know it was windy, but I’m not staying in a shepherd hut. I’m paying mortgage money. We also reported that the towel rail was dangerously hot in one spot. It had in fact changed the colour of the metal. We turned it right down, but we never received any further feedback. On our third day we were unable to use the shower or steam room because a smell from the drains made the room unusable, in fact it made the whole lodge smell. We reported the problem, and after housekeeping couldn’t resolve maintenance dealt with the issue whilst we went out rather than stay in the stench. The next day the hot tub wouldn’t heat up, and after two visits maintenance were unable to resolve. As we were going to dinner for the evening and needed to get ready, we abandoned our plans to use the hot tub before we went out. On a general note about the smaller issues, it took 4 requests to get some more mineral water, we had to ask for bin to be emptied, and despite asking a number of times we didn’t have any tissues. The bar, although not terribly busy managed to forget a glass of water when we ordered drinks. We did receive £200 off the bill for the issue with the hot tub, which we are grateful for, but we don’t think is recompense for the other problems that we’ve had. On a positive note, my wife thoroughly enjoyed the spa and Spice was beyond excellent. Speaking of five stars. My wife booked a spa treatment that was going to take a few hours, and I used the opportunity to visit a lovely looking pub fifteen minutes away. I gave the key to rec

In my last post I said I would be back again so when they announced there new Sunday roasts I couldn’t resist. Safe to say I wasn’t disappointed! Starting off with a Celeriac soup which was to die for, not my usual choice but it had some serious flavour. For main we had beef cooked to perfection served with a generous portion of veggies. And finally I finished on the Raspberry soufflé which may be the best desert I have ever eaten. The staff once again warm and friendly and the views are just wow. From start to finish this was amazing!! My wife and I booked afternoon tea at the wild Boar and we were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted by the reception staff that were so friendly and warm they directed us past the beautiful open fire into the restaurant, the gentleman that looked after us was great and nothing was a problem, even apologised when we ordered something that was not included in the afternoon tea and said there would be a small charge for this ( no need for the apology but was nice) the afternoon tea came and was beautiful everything was perfect, the food was amazing. The place its self is beautifully modern yet had a cozy country feel. The best part for me was the male toilet as the urinal is a slate waterfall. Altogether my self and my wife had an amazing time and have came home and booked a night to stay in the hotel next month, this a 100% must visit and we will be back time and time again

We have stayed at 1 Park Road many times now, and always enjoy our stay. The B&B is ideally situated in a quiet part of Windermere, only 5-7 minutes away from the main bustling town. Hilton runs a very well organised and friendly establishment and genuinely sets out to make sure you have a good stay. Breakfasts are fabulous and are enjoyed between 8:30am - 9:30am. We loved our stay here again. Our room was lovely, clean, well presented and was just ideal on these late summer nights that we’re experiencing. Excellent value for money and an ideal location to explore the lakes from. Thanks again Hilton. Jane & Steve xx

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Beaumont House in Windermere. This is an excellent property and very convenient to Windermere centre with a 5 minute walk to restaurants, coffee bars and shops. Denise and Sandra were very efficient, pleasant and helpful. The property is extremely clean and in a quiet area. The bedroom we stayed in, which was a Superior Double room, was large and comfortable. There was a good choice at breakfast which was very tasty. Highly recommended.

We have stayed here many times over a number of years and is always our first choice for the lakes. Jonathan and Caroline are great hosts and always make us feel so welcome and at home when we arrive until the (unfortunate) moment that we leave. Rooms, lounges, facilities and breakfast all excellent. The ethos of making the hotel as green as possible while supporting conservation and promoting local businesses is also very welcome. Also, the afternoon teas are fantastic and well worth the experience or two!!

This is a family bed and breakfast hotel, the overall environment is clean and tidy. We need to open the door to check in by ourselves. When we arrived, we called and called. Upon arrival we parked in overflow car park with no problems second day We managed to park out front. We were in room 5 which was well sized and beautifully laid out. Tea/ coffee making facilities, 55 inch tv, full length mirror, heating, small table and chairs which was nice to have for coffee time instead of having to sit on bed. Beautiful and large en suite shower room with a decent shower only fault was the bathroom mirror was to high. Easy keyless entry system if you like the personal touch this place is not for you,but to be honest we prefer to be left alone. Overall we loved this place and would definitely return.

I booked this stay for my husbands birthday. I have stayed at a few spa resorts and to be honest I was left underwhelmed by the experience. We had a 'dirty towel ' in the room which smelt dirty and had stains on it. I did get it changed and the lady was very apologetic. If tgat was it then it would have been fine however the service in the bar was atrocious. We went to the bar on Saturday evening. We had to wait 10 minutes to get served which was fine but then from asking for our cocktail order we had to wait a further 25 minutes. The poor young boy on the bar was new and didn't know how to make cocktails so he had to wait for Leah, to take over. That would have been fine except Leah was flirting with 2 men at the bar from a wedfing party and kept us waiting 25 minutes from placing our order to actually receiving it. Then I know it is petty but when you are buying a passion fruit martini you sort of expect the half passion fruit. But no. Not here. There wasn't any. Neither were there any cocktail straws to drink it - only full sized strangers?? Apart from the dirty towel the room was mediocre. Please can someone from management lie on the sofa bed in room 275? The springs in the mattress have gone and my poor daughter had to endure a night on what was excruciating. I think a bag of spanners would have been more comfortable. Please can the manager just check thus out? Finally as I said I have stayed in a lot of spa resorts and though this is a beautiful location the attention to detail let's it down. No tissues or slippers in the room and we booked for 3 but only had towels and gowns for 2. For the price I expected more sorry.

Loved our stay at Glencree! Perfectly situated between Windermere and Bowness (5-10 min easy walk to either and safe at night). Room was spotless and tastefully decorated, better than most hotels. Had a lovely stream running past and outdoor seating for warmer weather! The host Ian was lovely and really welcoming and you were left to your own devices with codes to get in the main door and bedrooms! Tablets on the rooms were a great idea which you pre-order your breakfast on it and has all the information on the area and contacts you need on it! There is an honesty bar downstairs which we thought was a lovely idea! Rooms had all local toiletries and tea’s coffee’s! Breakfast was plentiful and delicious! Breakfast was delicious and a lovely choice to choose from and Paula as a host really sells the place . It’s only a 10 minute walk into Windemere and Bowness ( we preferred Bowness ) and so much choice of cafes , restaurants and bars. We visited Grasmere ( find the gingerbread shop ) , Ambleside and Windemere . Then on our second day took a very wet and windy walk to Lake Buttermere which was stunning . We had a delicious Indian in Bowness and ate in numerous coffee shops and tea rooms ! Absolutely value for money ! Thank you Amanda &Jonny

We had a brilliant stay thanks to Vicky, Jonathan and the team. This was our second visit to the Windermere Suites; this time we stayed in the Grassmere Suite; this was a lovely bright room with a lovely huge comfy bed, lots of wardrobe space, all the amenities including a paid mini bar if you need it; overlooking the main road. The TV has Netflix, YouTube, iPlayer all included. The room service breakfast is pre ordered the day before and delivered at your chosen time. We enjoyed a range during our 3 night stay including full English, Vegetarian, Boiled Eggs, Pastries and more. All very nicely served. The room is as toasty as you’d like it to be with powerful radiators if you need them - and it comes with a lovely sized bathroom that includes a jacuzzi bath tub, tv in the room and walk in shower. The hotel is within walking distance to all the amenities, pubs, restaurants and attractions in Bowness and Windermere. Really enjoyed our stay and have already booked to come back for New Year at the end of 2024. Looking forward to visiting again! Thanks to Vicky, Jonathan and all the team for the warm welcome 😊

We spent two nights at this fantastic hotel. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming to make your stay happy and comfortable. Paul serving drinks in bar very friendly with everyone. 👍 Occasion Room 12 in main building, exceptionally clean with gorgeous views. The king size bed and pillows were too firm for us and we had to request softer pillows. Shower gel was not replenished and also asked for this. Reception were happy to fulfil requests. Delicious food at each meal and fulfil any special requests. The terrace is very peaceful overlooking beautiful views. Tips …. Ask not to be placed in annexe as this is a solitary detached house adjacent with a walkway. Drinks are extremely expensive so keep a tab but they expensive throughout most of Windermere. If you have poor mobility, there is a steep walk up the driveway so you may have to use your car. We highly recommend this hotel for a short break and we were extremely lucky to have superb weather. I booked this guest house for my mums birthday. My mums birthday was in February, unfortunately due to an accident I had. I wasn't able to do something nice for my mums 70th. I said to my mum we will go away for a few days My mum wanted to go to windermere for a few days. I booked this guest house only because I was either looking for a twin room, although we would have shared a double room if needs be. The room available was a family room, so I booked it. On arrival, we were greeted with the owner. Who showed us up to our room. Which was at the top of the building. I was worried about climbing the stairs, after my accident I hadn't climbed stars. However, I managed ok. The room was small, although it was clean. My mum took the double bed, and I took the single. On each side, if the double bed was bedside drawers. They wasn't anything next to the single bed. I had to put my cups of tea on the floor. They were an extension plug socket. To put your own charger in. In our room, they were a form we had to fill out and leave downstairs ready for breakfast the next morning. Even though we did this. They still couldn't get our breakfast right. They had to ask us what we wanted. I thought we had put down what we wanted. The tables were a bit close together, and I found it difficult to get in and out. When I wanted to get up to help myself to coffee or cereal. The guest house is on a main road, with a good open top hop on bus service. That runs every 20 minutes. It's a 25/ 30-minute walk to the lake. They are a few shops close by and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. The train station is a few minutes' walk away, with a bus station. If you fancy a bus ride to somewhere else. We didn't have a car so the bus to kendal. Made a change. If we go to windermere again, I would look at better hotels or guest houses. We enjoyed our few days at windermere and the weather was lovely

This hotel is great. The location is very convenient, just a minute walk from the train station. It is not far to the scenic spot. It takes 20 minutes to walk to the pier. You can go by boat and take a small train. I will bring friends to live in the future.

The hotel was clean and tidy , and room was adequate for our stay , bed was very comfortable . The staff were very friendly and helpful ,in reception and dining room .The Breakfast was a buffet selection ,self service , with Tea or Coffee, good selection to choose from .The dinner menu was also good ,with a choice of Starters ,Mains & Desserts ,all good wholesome food of a pub type menu. After a day out ,went for a drink in the Ossett Head Bar in the hotel grounds , nice pleasant ambient setting , this was the only time , it never opened again for the duration of our stay. The only other bar is in the dining room , and this was only open , during meal times , no soft furnishings , only dining tables . dont know if you could take drinks from there , into the guest lounge ,never informed. Plentiful supply of Tea & Coffee in room ,which you had to replenish from reception . i am now Tea Total & Alcohol Free after this mini vacation .

Very cozy little hotel, run by a Chinese couple, very friendly and welcoming. I studied here, came here for a holiday, and settled on this hotel. Although I feel that the house is more chronological, the real number is very well preserved, the decoration is exquisite, clean and tidy, and the details are great. It is only 5 minutes walk from the train station. The town is not big. It is also very convenient to go to other towns on foot or by bus. I booked a single room, the decoration made people feel comfortable and warm, and the hygiene was great. I must call for breakfast. I have been in the UK for a month. This is the best meal I have ever moved. Overall highly recommended

I saw this B&B on Ctrip. I booked it decisively because the recommendation ranks among the top three in the Lake District. After I checked in, I found it was worthy of the name. It’s only 10 minutes away from Windermere Lake and it can provide a swimming pool, but it’s more than a mile away from the room. There are plenty of breakfasts to choose from, and I recommend the first English breakfast, very authentic! There are free parking spaces. The room is quite clean and the layout is very careful. It can be seen that the owner of the house has spent a lot of attention on the details. My boyfriend and I think this is the best after staying in four stores in the UK. It's the little things that count! The owner of the house, John, is very enthusiastic. He will recommend travel routes and speak some Chinese. I would recommend this store if I have friends who travel to the Lake District~

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Elim Bank over the bank holiday weekend and what a great find this Guest House is. Just a 5 minute walk left out of the hotel you are in the heart of Bowness, with its array of shops, bars, great places to eat and the dock to catch the boats across the lake. The hotel itself is gorgeous, both inside and out. There is a small car park around the back of the hotel, which is fab in Bowness as parking seemed difficult over the bank holiday. When we arrived we were met by both Adam and Symmoane, with a great warm welcome. Both made us feel so at home when we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for either of them, going over everything we might need for our stay. When it came to breakfast, there is a booking system (book your time by 7pm the night before) which was great for us. The breakfast room is only small, but for a 7 bedroomed guesthouse it was perfect. The breakfast is continental- with a great selection of cereals, brown and white bread to toast, croissants and pan au chocolat (which you can warm) and a fridge of juices and milks and a gorgeous home made compot you can help yourself to. Porridge is also made fresh for you by Adam and Symmoane. Initially we wernt sure whether we would be disappointed with not having a cooked full english option each morning but we were far from disappointed. We actually preferred it. We were out and about all day and it was a lovely start with fresh coffee and tea. We booked a double loft room, so had 2 flights of stairs to go up. There is no lift. But this was no problem for us. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious enough for the 2 of us. I liked the touches the room had like a hairdryer and a fan, a heat mat (for straighteners) and also the toileterries in the bathroom. We had such a fabulous stay and will 100% be coming back to stay again.

We arrived and were greeted by Robin and Chris, the House was warm and the hosts welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable with the added luxury of fresh milk and a fridge in the room. Breakfast had a very nice variety of options from cereals to full Cumbrian and was very enjoyable. Our whole experience here was great and is on our list for a return visit.

Good bits: our suite was very nice and the breakfast food on offer was good even though you had to come down at a prearranged timeslot. The bad is that the overall management of this hotel, in our experience, was very poor. There were multiple occasions (in just 2 days) when what was arranged and agreed was just not acted upon. Here's some examples: On arrival a member of staff kindly reserved a breakfast table for 4 the following morning (as we were staying with another couple) but it was taken by somebody else when we came down so we had to assume this information wasn't passed to the breakfast team. We then arranged for seating for 5 people at breakfast the following morning - different staff member said that was fine and made a note of the room numbers - yet again this wasn't done and when we asked them to make up an unoccupied table set up for 4 to a 5 (plenty of room to add another chair ) this was refused. Weeks before arriving our friends had asked for their room to be set up as a twin rather than a double but of course that hadn't been done either. We asked for our room not to be serviced during our 2 night stay yet the first morning staff knocked to come in when my partner was on the toilet - again relevant details not passed on. We were told we had reserved parking spot at the rear of the property but parking was a free-for-all. The reception area seemed to be locked up and unmanned most of the time. Yes, there was a bell to ring, but you'd expect a member of staff to be visible especially in the mornings. Finally, whilst most staff were friendly and polite, one senior staff member was off-hand when dealing with a simple request (and we overheard her being brusque with another couple). Her attitude was unpleasant and gave the impression that customers were really a bit of a nuisance. Maybe we just picked a bad weekend so whilst it wasn't a totally awful stay by any means there was enough incidents over a short period to put us off staying there again or recommending it to anyone if it continues to be run in this slack and unprofessional way. I do worry for its future.
