Stayed here with the family last weekend and would highly recommend this hotel. The room was clean and, even though the rules have changed, housekeeping were very efficient. Breakfast was as you would expect but with more care and attention than I have seen at any other Travelodge. Hot food was replenished almost instantly and everything was clean and tidy. Special mention must go to Doreen who provided hands down the best customer service I have ever received in any hotel. My son is coeliac and Doreen took the time on our first evening to go through each menu item and double check what was suitable for him. She was friendly and engaging, always with a smile on her face. During breakfast she made a point of greeting each guest and seemed to know who was happy for a chat and who was happy with just a cheery 'good morning'.

Hewitts House is in the centre of Newport, on finding the place we were faced with a locked door so followed the instructions on the door to a reception desk at another location that they own. We were given a code and let ourselves in and found our key waiting on the bar. First floor of this property is a rather nice looking restaurant where we had tried to book a meal but was full booked. Our room had a large bed, blinds need some attention, hot tap wasn't attached to the sink, green algie near shower screen, T.V had had a hard time looked like it had been bent over at some point. A nice looking sofa but springs had gone. On a plus the room was clean and of good size. I had noticed that the restaurant closed at 11.00pm it sounded like the kitchen staff had invited all there mates in unless it was just the restaurant staff partying. With no regard to hotel guest they sang at the top of there voices with music blaring, thankfully they made a noisy exit at just gone midnight, leaving some people clearing up they left around 12.30. Breakfast was advertised to be served downstairs and instead was at a local tea rooms, luckily I had inquired the day before about what time breakfast was and then was informed that it wasn't at Hewitts house. I Couldn't say it was Covid safe in the cafe but breakfast was nice and friendly staff. Wasn't quite sure what to do at check out so left key back on bar downstairs as there was no-one about. We did go to the reception too discus our grievances at there other hotel but it was locked and we could see no-one was there. Very disappointed and tired the next day.
