      Everything about my 2-night stay was awesome. The clerks at check-in were personable and accommodating. Breakfast was GREAT every morning. It was a short walk to some great restaurants in downtown for dinner. I slept great and I was not hit with loud noises from the busy streets outside. Great place to stay when away from home. It did appear as if some people were living in the hotel as I would see trash accumulating outside of certain rooms, but being I did not know the circumstances, I did not say anything. It did not interfere with my stay at all.

      I feel so blessed, with Brian’s assistance I was able to not stress on where we would stay during this trying time. Starting with check in the staff was excellent and courteous. They went the extra mile just because which is a plus.. The location was only 7 minutes to the hospital which was a major plus. The room was very comfortable and clean. Once my grandbaby fully recovers I’ll be coming back just to get away. Again I would like to thank Brian and the rest of the staff for everything.

      The front desk, management and staff were all great during our elongated stay there. We were originally scheduled to stay for 3 days on business but because of ice storms in Dallas Fort Worth, our stay ended up being 6 days. After the 4th day, each day we thought that we were finally leaving when our flight would cancel. The front desk and the management were more than patient with us as we tried to figure out our new schedule and rebook with them. That happened on 2 different occasions. The 2nd time, I got a call from the front desk that our company hadn't sent the paperwork for the final 2 nights and politely asked if we could check in with the company to get the paperwork. Even though I had to wait an hour and a half on the phone, the front desk never rushed me in getting the necessary paperwork. Kudos to the amazing staff. The 6 days we ate at the Waterside, ate Japanese, Irish and American cuisine all within walking distance of the hotel. As also an Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, I definitely recommend if you are in Norfolk to stay at this remarkable hotel.

      First and foremost, this hotel is ON the Old Dominion University campus. It is a perfect place to stay for any visit to ODU. Easily walkable distances to the whole campus. And nicely located 1/2 block from the main restaurant street. But what puts it over the top is the room layout. This is not your normal double bed and a bathroom layout. Each room/suite has a nice sitting room area with a sofa, desk, and cabinet area with refrigerator and microwave. Our room also had two (2!) closets for hanging clothes. The staff were also all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was average, but staff kept it clean and looking great. It's not a 5-star hotel, but for what we paid (quite reasonable, even with the extra $8 for parking), it exceeded my expectations and provided the foundation for a very nice visit to ODU! I strongly recommend it. Note: I had a room on the south side of the building, not on Hampton Blvd. No noise on that side.

      Stayed here for a girls weekend and loved this place. Excellent view of the Portsmouth shipyard. The buffet for breakfast was excellent and was only $11. They offered an omelette station that was excellent. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and the bell man was extremely helpful by recommending places to eat. The parking was only $10 a day which we were very happy with. Rooms are very comfortable especially the beds. I look forward to staying here again.

      I had a negative check in experience due to the hotel not having my reservation, even though I provided them with a confirmation number and email. I was told to call hotels.com because they couldn't do anything and hotels.com had to get on the phone with them to confirm that the reservation was actually there. This was after I had made a new reservation and then got charged for both reservations at the same time. It was unnecessarily stressful for a simple check-in. Also, the room looked clean but upon unpacking I noticed hairs everywhere from the previous guest. In general it was just not clean, smelled like weed, the noise level was very loud, and the parking lot was sketchy with broken class from cars.

      We chose this hotel because we were traveling with a pet and it had the best reviews for the location. It was ok but not up to the usual standards of a Candlewood. The room was basically clean except for the dish cupboard which hadn’t been dusted in a long time. The bathroom sink wasn’t draining well and no one came to fix it despite a request. The dog park area was filthy and I was concerned about having my dog use it. During the week, the guests seemed a bit rough and I encountered an unmasked man who had clearly just been in a fight, given the condition of his face. Over the weekend, more families arrived and the rough folks left. The pros are the location and the staff. Everyone was friendly and kept masks on at all times. There was a bowl of sanitizer at the desk to put keys into. We were on the first floor quite near an exit, which kept us from disrupting other guests. Despite the negatives, it was close to my son’s house and we would give it another try if we were traveling with the dog.

      Motel 6-Norfolk, VA - Oceanview

      I booked and checked in at the last minute because my other travel plans were upended without notice. I chose a motel room with direct access to the outside, because in these days of COVID19, I wanted as little access to public spaces as possible en route to my room. I entered the Motel 6 lobby and the woman behind the desk was not wearing a mask, neither was a worker (a guy with a ladder that was talking to her). I stood back until she put on her mask. The tiny pieces of plexiglass hanging between the customer area and her desk were a joke, not preventing any airborne virus. My room, at first glance, seemed humble but clean enough. TV worked. Fridge and microwave worked. Sheets were clean. Bath had been wiped down. The housekeeping was not the problem, the overall maintenance and shabbiness of the place, was the problem. Within two hours I saw someone stomp on a roach in the stairwell. At night I started to doze in front of the TV with my clothes on. I was about to get up and change into my pajamas when I saw a dying cockroach emerge from under the mini fridge. I killed it, and 15 minutes later another one was crawling along the wall toward the bed. I killed it, and slept with one eye open, in my clothes, for the rest of the night. I never unpacked. I grabbed all my stuff and left the next day. The room remained empty the next six days. I returned once to avail myself of the wifi, but even the wifi wasn't working. "That happens when storm is coming," said the front desk. This is Tidewater Va, there is always a storm coming. The lamp shade was gashed, the bulbs were very dim, I had a fly and a wasp in my room, in addition to the roaches. I made one attempt to talk to a manager, but "Miss Rachel" was not in. I had a non-refundable stay, and lost hundreds of dollars. I never should have booked all 7 nights without seeing it first. One day/Total Roach Count: 8

      Had another great stay a the Hampton Inn, Norfolk. Front desk representative Melissa was awesome! She made you feel welcomed and was very professional and helpful. We also  had the pleasure of meeting Tim who was also very professional and polite. The room was right and clean. Walls were well insulated, you do not hear your neighbors or people walking/talking in the hallway. The breakfast was fantastic.  There was a Waffle bar, bagels with toaster, Veggie and cheese omelets, hatd boiled eggs,, sausage, Oatmeal, muffins and assorted pastries and assorted juice dispencer. Would reccomend this location.

      Stay Report - 4/29 to 4/30 Location: The name is somewhat inaccurate.  The hotel itself is located in a no man's land area south of I-64 about 10 minutes from the ORF Terminal.  It's near a few other hotels and not much else but there are a few chain restaurants a little south on US 13.  The proximity to I-64 makes it easy to get around from the hotel and downtown Norfolk is about 15 minutes away.  Hotel: As with all Doubletrees you aren't sure what you're going to get until you arrive.  This hotel has a large (and free) parking lot, a nicely renovated lobby with a small snack shop, a lot of meeting space and I presume a restaurant and bar but I did not see them.  Common areas on the hotel floors are much more worse for wear than the lobby Check In: I arrived at midnight and got right into my room.  I was thanked for being Diamond and given two bottles of water and a cookie.  I was not told anything about dining though Room: Old and not in good repair. A fuse must have blown because when I tried turning on both bedside lights, the first one went out and the outlets they were plugged into didn't work after that.  There was a desk, decent sized TV at least but the bathroom is a weird design and quite small and soundproofing is awful.  I could hear every word my neighbors were saying both in the hall and in the next room. I ended up here as it was an expensive hotel night citywide but this hotel is still 35,000 points.  For that it's fine but it's not in great shape.

      We were on the last leg of round trip through Virginia and had not made any bookings in order not to be compelled to follow an exact route or schedule. We found the Quality Inn by chance and I was impressed by the friendliness of the reception staff when asking for a room. The Hotel does not offer many amenities and we had to find a restaurant before settling down which did not worry us, apart from the fact that there was no possibility to get anything drinkable which is a bit unpleasant on a hot day. The room was generous with two rather comfortable beds and it was quite clean too. Bathroom and showers were not that inviting, but then I guess for the money paid you cannot expect a 5 star service. Breakfast was rather good in a friendly atmosphere and generally we were not disappointed having stayed here.
