I traveled to Italy for 17 days with family, and we just returned. As a 'wind down' from our trip, it was recommended by a friend that travels to Italy quite often, that we spend our last two days in the beach town of Ostia, right outside of Rome. Wow. I was so impressed with Maison 6 from start to finish! From the moment we got there, we were greeted warmly by the housekeeper, Maria. From the outside, it does not look like more than a commercial building, but wait until you get inside! First off, it is very freshly renovated, very clean, and very inviting. This is a Bed & Breakfast, so there is a common kitchen area which we happened to really enjoy! I believe there are only six rooms? Extremely cozy. The kitchen is fully stocked with a Cappuccino Machine, freshly baked goods, fresh fruit, water and yogurt in the fridge, etc. Naomi, the host, was extremely gracious and kind, always with a smile on her face and happy to help in any way that she could. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you for a WONDERFUL few nights at Maison 6!

We spent three nights in Fly Deco. The hotel is very modern, clean, nicely decorated and with friendly staff. It was not cheap. The location is perfect. We had beatiful ocean view from our windows. The beach was across the street. The room (oceanview, superior) was not very big but very comfortable. The décor very modern: glass marble, tiles etc. The room could be more functional: the amount of storage somehow limited. King size bed (requeted) was comfortable. It had only two pillows (in North America usually two per person). The bathroom (big shower, no bathtub) was functional, though lighting around the mirror could be better. The bathroom had a sliding door. When this door was open, there was no access to a wardrobe (a closet with some shelves and a safe). The hotel had a very small elevator. On a rooftop was a nice area with chairs, some plants and a a bar which was closed during our stay. Excelled wiev. The staff was very friendly with a very good english. Superb buffet breakfest was included. The restaurant was open only for breakfest (during our stay). The hotel is located not only close to the beach but also around 5 minutes walk to the train station (Lido Central). Also close to a supermarket and various restaurants and pizzerias. A few stops from Lido Central by train is Ostia Antica – a very interesting, old place worth visiting. It was once a big roman port town located close to the sea. The hotel is located close to the airport Fumicino. There is a hotel shuttle bus from the airport. We don't remember is we paid for that or not. Definitely not in the bus. It is possible to take a train to Lido Central from the airport, but basically by going to Rome and then to Lido Central.

I spent two nights at La Scaletta with my spouse and liked the location, staff and services provided but found the room rather dismal. The location of the hotel is great. There are several restaurants nearby, the airport is only about 15 minutes away by car and one can reach the main bus/train station by foot in 10 minutes or so. The hotel has a deal with a private beach resort some 2 km away, easily reachable by a local bus. They told us that the bus is free and we acted accordingly, but in reality one should buy a ticket and validate it on the bus (the driver doesn’t say anything if you don’t). The beach deal was excellent: with 5 € per day per person we got beach towels from the hotel and at the resort a private cabin with a shower and a lockable door, in addition to sunbeds and a beach umbrella. The resort had a kiosk and a restaurant (okay food, a bit pricy) but you could also bring your own food. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave good advice when we asked. We needed to drop off our rental car at the airport and then come back to the hotel, and they advised us that there is a local bus that takes you to the main bus station (traveltime about 40 minutes). The bus stop was not where all other buses leave from at the airport, so make sure to double-check the busline’s name and the location of the bus stop. The hotel also offers a shuttle service directly to the airport, but you need to book it at least 24 hours in advance. The room we had a was a bit of a disappointment. We knew that it would be tiny, but discovered that the bathroom was even tinier. Even though neither of us is particularly tall or long-limbed, we struggled to take a shower without constantly banging against the cubicle walls. Our room was one of the few that had a balcony (nice view to the beach opposite and sunset), but the downside was that right below there was a McDonald’s, open until the wee hours (noise and grease smell). The room felt a bit damp and the fridge was tiny and warm. There was a major issue with ants, as they were all over two of the walls. In spite of sleeping with the window and balcony door closed, on both mornings we woke up with itchy insect bites that took a couple of weeks to heal. Luckily the problem wasn’t the kind that follows one home (we took precautions with the luggage and checked our bed back home for signs for a week afterwards just in case). To sum up, this hotel is adequate if you need a place to crash while enjoying what Lido di Ostia has to offer.

We arrived and first thought is that its dated and old. Cobwebs and just tacky looking reception, with a man who worked there smoking in communial tv room at the back. The woman at reception was not welcoming or attempted to speak to us at all. Was all a bit off. We were given the first floor. The halls looked quite nice in comparison but our room wasn't great. The room size was good, and so was the bed... until we realised it was two single beds pushed together, which meant me and my boyfriend had to sleep on the single beds as we couldn't roll into the middle as the beds seperated. The air conditioning was actually really good, got really nice and cool which was good for when it was hot/warm outside. The shower was tacky, water pressure was minimal and the it was a bit scummy. The area around it was a bit plain, nothing much to do. There are plants that surround the hotel but they give off the smell of wee which isn't nice at all. We wasn't told what time breakfast was served from and when it stopped, so we had to guess. We went down at 8am and nearly everything was gone or very minimal. Not sure if we had missed it or there were just a lack of anything due to a school being there at the same time. Yoghurt, boiled egg, crossiants and cereals were the only things to chose from which didn't even look appetising so gave it a miss. The only good thing about the hotel was that it was opposite the beach, which was sandy and cleared watered. The hotel is about a 10/15 minute walk from the nearest station that goes into actual Rome, but you have to change train twice to get to certain places. But it cost 1 euro 50 cent for a train there as it goes by time not distance. So 2 hours you get for the euro 50 cent. It takes about an hour a half to get to Rome which is okay in consideration. As I say the room okay, had some faults but overall just a bit meh. Wouldn't stay again. There wasn't much to do locally which meant you had to go quite far to get to somewhere. We booked this hotel via Lastminute.com. That was probably a mistake as we ended up with one of the most basic rooms on the ground floor(220). This property was also known as Hotel Riva. The beds were firm foam mattresses but comfortable. However the shower room showed rust on the shower doors and mould on the tiles. The facilities were clean but possibly not the corners. There is a fridge which had one bottle each of still and sparkling water. There is no kettle. Breakfast is taken in the main property Hotel Bellavista about 50 metres away - not great in a thunderstorm! Noise carries badly and the aircon can make a racket even when apparently switched off. There is little natural light in the room. Great location only 5 minutes from Stella Polare station and the night bus from Rome also stops nearby. Good pizza takeaway and cafe/bar on the way. The transfer from Fiumcino airport with the lovely Giovanni is great value at €25 and is paid direct to the hotel. Breakfast is tasty and plentiful. The usual bread croissants, ham cheese etc and some lovely fruit. it doesn't vary much and is replenished quickly. The staff speak good English and are helpful. However overall I felt it was more of a pension/b&b not a hotel. By the way, it advertises wifi but this is patchy and often non-existent. It didn't let us check in for our return flight without constantly crashing even sitting in reception. I would go back to stay at the right price as the location is good but probably stay in the main building. If you have an early flight it good for a stopover. Not disappointing as such but not one to get excited about.

I had been traveling through Europe for a few weeks and this was my last place I was going to be staying. It was a nice quiet time of the season early October so it was very peaceful. The lobby and room were extremely clean and modern. Front desk staff were wonderful! I had misplaced a charger for my older Ipad and I was given directions on how to get to a local store to purchase a new one (about a 3/4 mile walk). They were also very good at giving me directions on how to catch the local free commuter bus to catch a train into Rome for sight seeing. The pier area, across the street, had wonderful selection of restaurants and deli's to eat at, and even had a small laundromat to do my laundry. I loved just walking across the street and down into the sand and did some sea shell hunting and lots of pictures of the beautiful waves crashing.

We stayed only one night but enough to experience beautifula accomodation and hoslitaliy from the owners. Room was furnished with great attention to details to give you that perfect holiday feel you would expect from seaside accomodation. Appartment has fenomenal terrace above main pedestrian street looking at beautifull surrounding facades and sea. Breakfast was delicous with a great choice, and in the conversation with owner we spend one hour just enjoying the moment. I would highly reccomend this place and we already have a plan to come back in spreing.
