      Prior to our stay, the only concerns we had were the distance of the hotel from the city centre and how easy it would be to see the main sights using public transport. In the event everything worked out fine although the hotel’s front desk could have been far more helpful when we asked for help. Given that this was a chain hotel we wrongly assumed that all the staff would speak good English. I don’t like to criticise because, at the end of the day, it’s our fault for not speaking better French. However, it is something for guests to bear in mind. The staff on the front desk struggled to understand some of what I was saying at check-in and the staff on duty in the restaurant spoke no English at all. However, in contrast, the breakfast waiter spoke good English. All in all, a very mixed picture. Once we’d parked up at the hotel and checked in, we wanted to use public transport to get to the city centre rather than trying to drive there. I really needed some help and advice but the lady I spoke to on the reception desk was less than helpful and appeared disinterested. She vaguely pointed in the direction of a nearby bus-stop but she didn't provide a map and I soon gave up trying to get any practical information out of her. This was very disappointing especially as I was the only guest queueing at the desk. In the end I turned to the “Moovit” app I had previously installed on my smart phone a year or so before. I’d been very impressed by it in Berlin and it proved to be equally good in Metz (although ahead of time I wasn't sure it would work in Metz). If you want to get the bus into the city centre it makes everything so easy. Once I’d entered the city centre as a destination, it provided simple step by step guidance as to how to get there. A map showed the walking route to the bus stop (about 2 minutes from the hotel) and which number bus to wait for. A timer counted down the expected arrival time of the bus. We purchased a group ticket from the machine at the bus stop. It cost 8 euros for one day's unlimited use of the bus for a group of up to 5 people. We boarded the bus and validated the ticket using the little machine on-board. Don’t forget to do this as the you’ll get fined if you don’t validate it! The lady on the hotel reception desk didn’t mention any of this. “Moovit” then showed us a map of the bus route and a list of all the stops en-route. As we progressed along, “Moovit” ticked off the stops so we could see exactly where we were at any point and it was easy to get off at the right stop. If you want to use public transport then there’s really nothing to be worried about. The Metz bus system is certainly very slick and efficient with frequent buses. Once on the bus, it took around 16 minutes to get to the city centre. The return journey was equally as easy. Metz has a lovely feel to it, combining a mix of old and new, and we spent a very pleasant afternoon wandering around the sites. One of our party had an onion allergy

      Didn't stay at this "hovel" ... (oops!! ... Freudian slip) ... "hotel" through choice. It was chosen by our coach company as a stop over location en-route to Lake Maggiore in Italy. After travelling for over 11 hours, we were greeted by an late evening meal of salad and yoghurt (take it or leave it ... no choice). We were not allowed to eat in the restaurant, but were ushered into a side room that resembled a factory canteen. Sadly we stopped there on our return journey, and following complaints to the Manager by our coach company, we were assured that the unpleasant food experience would not be repeated ...... wrong!!! Again we ate in a separate canteen type room, again with a take it or leave it choice of salad, meat leftovers and chips, followed by ice cream profiteroles ... yummy!!! We felt sorry for the lone waitress who was given the job of serving all 40 of us single handed .... and smiling through the entire ordeal. Breakfasts were not much better ..... zero staff in attendance, and very little and poor choice. Beds were comfy .... that's the only compliment I can give. Avoid this place at all costs ......

      Review for a an overnight stay. We chose an independent quirky hotel stopover on the journey down to Switzerland,which was great, but decided to stay somewhere a bit further north on the return. Not a great fan of chains, but this proved an excellent choice. Situated just off the A31 in the corner of a business estate (visible from the autoroute). Looks quite new. Check in was quick and efficient. Free onsite parking in fenced area. Very modern decor, room was decent size, separate bathroom/loo. Very clean. Kettle and tea/coffee. Comfortable bed. All good. We arrived close to the restaurant close (21.30) but were able to get a good meal, reasonably priced. Not sure what other options there might be in the area. Breakfast was fine. All the people were friendly and helpful. All in all highly recommended.

      It has air conditioning, a refrigerator with a free bottle of water, a safe, a pool and a restaurant. We enjoyed our stay here. I requested a quiet room and our room faced inward to the courtyard. However it was Saturday night and there were small groups of people gathered in the courtyard talking and laughing loudly until about 5 am. My husband and son slept soundly but I could not sleep with the loud people in the courtyard. The beds were comfortable, soap was provided in the shower and at the sink. We enjoyed the pool, nice towels were provided. There were a few people eating dinner at the pool. Parking is hard to find in old town Metz but for $14 you can park underground. Park in the yellow section it is closer to the hotel elevator.

      After a week travelling the Alps we booked this hotel en route home as it specified Parking and our car is full of luggage and camping gear etc. On arrival we were told there was no on site parking and we could park roadside until 6am or pay for parking at a multi story, neither of which seemed very secure The Hotel refused to refund our payment as they had mis represented the Parking so at 1am I had no choice than to take the room My vehicle is a standard size car with roof box so the car park they said was 2.0m height is only 1.9m and did not fit, I then parked roadside eventually finding a space only to then find after locking my car I could hear snoring which turned out to be a tramp on the staircase where my car was parked opposite the hotel so I had to move it again. It is now 4am and I am still going out to check my car as there are many undesirables still hanging around the street outside the hotel. Then to top things off I have just returned to the Hotel to find the desk staff smoking **** on the entrance....very professional I don't think. There is also a loud noisy vibrating fan noise coming from the Staircase that is echoing in our room Avoid this hotel at all costs as neither the staff or management are useful or willing to help

      Small hotel in very central location. Therefore very recommendable. The entire city centre is within walking distance. The rooms have everything one needs, are very small, but perfectly sufficient for a short stay. But they are also smart as one provides a cloakroom for example. It's stupid how a washbasin is arranged under whose tap one can hardly hold one's hand. Comfortable bed. I recommend to choose a room at the backside (a parc) so more silent. For car drivers, the underground car park is a must: it is located under the hotel, costs 9 EUR per day, but one gets almost claustrophobic seizures in this darkness. Why one still needs the PIN at the exit is a mystery to me. Access to the hotel via an outside staircase. The breakfast is also surprisingly good for French conditions - with a lot that one does not expect in France. Of course, one can only speak French and very little English, but this is not really surprising. A very recommendable hotel for a short visit.

      Located next to the train station, the room is small and pitiful, it is a bit reluctant to live alone. The breakfast was good. Parking is extremely inconvenient. You have to grab a seat on the road and drive away before 9 o'clock in the morning, otherwise there will be a brother to post the list.
