It’s fair to say that Tourcoing isn’t exactly a hotbed of tourism, but it was the departure point for our early morning Ouigo train to Montpellier, so we needed to stay somewhere nearby. This hotel was less than 10 minutes’ walk from the station, and 5 minutes’ walk from the town centre & shopping centre, so fitted the bill perfectly. Sharply priced, and including a decent breakfast, the hotel is quite modern. While our room wasn’t huge, it did the trick for an overnight stay and the staff were helpful when dropping off our bags and checking in. We’d happily stay here again. Dining tip - Basilico & Co in the town centre proved a surprisingly lively choice on a Wednesday evening, with excellent pasta and pizzas and friendly staff.

We stayed at the Ibis Hotel, Tourcoing on 4 may 2019 on our way to Calais from the Black Forest area. The room was large and the beds clean and comfortable. That, unfortunately, is all that was good about this hotel. The evening meal was awful - tough, undercooked pork with rice, green beans, salad and gravy. Salad and Gravy? After a good night's sleep we were ready for a good breakfast. Horror of horrors! Two large groups (we were with a party of 40+) struggling to find somewhere to sit. Everything was in short supply, including staff. There weren't enough tables and chairs. Milk, cereal, juice and just about everything else ran out. There was no help to be found and at one point several desperate people actually went into the kitchen in search of assistance. It was to no avail. Plates ran out, cups ran out as did cutlery. People stirred their tea with the handle of their forks - if they had tea and forks. Some shared their cutlery. We were fortunate enough to have a knife so, when we finished with it, we wiped it with a clean tissue and passed it to another couple. When they had used it, they in turn passed it on to the next table. Where the staff were during this fiasco is a mystery. Anyway, my advice to you is simple. If you are planning to stay at this sorry place, DON'T! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

We were very disappointed when we arrive at the Camponile Lille Nord Roubaix. It looked very neglected and uncared for. For example the hotel sign was broken and unlit, cigarette ends and litter were evident everywhere and the site was full of uncut grass and weeds. Our room was in a very poor state of decoration and cleanliness; the beds were poorly made with one small pillow; there was even a spot of blood on one of the sheets and the toilet was stained. The evening menu was limited with only pizzas, rizzotto and one other dish I can't remember. The breakfast on the first morning at 0830 had limited choice remaining, there was a little more the following day when we were up for an early start on our journey. On our return a few days later on our journey home there wasn't even chef on duty so no evening meal. The only positive is that the staff were friendly. I decided not to complain as it seemed it would be wasted energy. If no attempt could be made to maintain reasonable standards then it was very probable that there would be little interest in any complaint I would make. Yes, I know the obvious response to that but sometimes you can't help but feel that if the care of this hotel could be so poor then who would care about my feedback?! However you have asked for my feedback so here it is. It will be interesting to see if my expectation of no serious response will be born out by whether any personal response to my feedback is given.

Used as a base for the Paris Roubaix race weekend. Car park on arrival is underground. Very secure and plenty of spaces. It was a little difficult to manoeuvre around it though but who cares really. Car park was 8 euros per night. Reception were very helpful, I didn’t catch the guys name but he was very helpful and polite. Bicycle’s can be kept in rooms no problem. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. No frills though really as you would expect. The bar and restaurant were good too. There were some nice beers on the bar and the barman was a nice guy and a good laugh. He even stayed after his shift to serve people on one of the nights. The restaurant only seemed to really serve ‘flams’ a bit like a pizza on a batter type base. Have to admit I tried one and didn’t really like it but they did seem very popular with everyone else so I guess it was just me! Overall a very good hotel which is basic but has excellent customer service. Would highly recommend.

The hotel itself is nice, clean and well situated just outside of Lille. For an aviation geek the adjacent airfield is a huge bonus. Breakfast is satisfactory, but on our second day, the scrambled eggs and the bacon were cold, even though they were in the heater. The pancakes and waffles were also cold although the heater was under power. Maybe a little training to the staff on how to work with those machines should be considered. Staff was very friendly and helpfull.

You can’t fault this hotel. Does what it says on the tin. Great breakfast, air con in rooms, comfy beds, super clean, lovely staff. I will only be staying B and B hotels when travelling in France in future. Much. Much better than the Great Western we stayed in, which cost a lot more! We were slightly nervous on arrival because the area felt a little unsafe but it was only us being nervous, it was fine. Right next to the elevator for the metro into Lille. However, we didn’t much like Lille!
