In the school area, it is relatively safe. However, the location is relatively biased and it is convenient to take a taxi. The hotel's internal facilities are very good, clean and warm, breakfast is also very good, is the general foreigner to eat. The hotel reception is super nice, five stars!

From booking onwards I was impressed with the lovely staff I dealt with, they were all really helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for access by car with its secure car park, far enough out of town to be easy to drive to but stil within easy walking distance of the main square. There are also loads of bars, restaurants and supermarkets nearby - don't miss the huge outdoor market on a Sunday morning at Wazemmes, just 10 mins away on foot. The bed was comfortable and the room was spotless. It would have been nice to have a kettle and the wifi was a bit hit and miss but the pros far outweighed the cons here and I'd not hesitate to recommend this Aparthotel or to visit again

Hotel location, standard holiday hotel, no special surprises but no disappointment, good price. It is convenient to have Chinese restaurants in a few tens of meters from the hotel. If you are in Lille, it is a good choice. The advantage of a brand hotel is that you know what will happen.

We spent our holiday in the junior suite. We were lucky to be there in lovely weather so we could enjoy the luxury of the spacious terrace. The room was large too, and well equipped. All the amenities were present except ironing facilities. The minibar was replenished daily and all the contents of it were really free. The only disappointing discomfort was that the minibar was definitely not cool enough. Especially as we were there during a heat wave. The room temperature was OK thanks to the powerful but silent airco. Street noise did not enter the room, nor sounds from the adjacent room. We had comfortable nights in Why hotel. The bedding was excellent. So was the cleaning. We appreciated the offer of greening up, which meant that we kept our towels during our stay in order to improve ecological footprint. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was varied and ample. The location of the hotel was close to the Place Rihour and the beautiful Grand Place of Lille. Public transport was nearby, cheap and efficient. We had rented a parking place of the hotel in a secured parking garage close to the hotel, but we did most of our trips by metro for instance to Roubaix and Tourcoing. We had one of our best holiday experiences in Why hotel. Whole heartedly recommended!

This hotel has the best location in Lille, right in the city centre, near a large metro station and walking distance from the bus station. Rooms are renovated, beds are comfortable, we had a room with an inside view and that wasn't nice., they should also do something with heating/ventilation, during the day the room is relatively humid, it is nothing serious for a few days stay, but in the long run, they should deal with it. Great location in centre of Lille. Room newly renovated and spotlessly clean. Was very quiet with no noise from street or corridor. Second bed in room was a sofa bed but still very comfortable. Bar was really good for a late night drink before bed. Large public car park a couple of minutes away (parking - Nouveau Siècle). The only downside was breakfast. In hindsight we should have taken them up on the offer of room service breakfast. The buffet was run down well before end of service - e.g on Saturday bacon was gone by 9.50 and not restocked despite breakfast ending 10.30 and staff periodically looking at the empty dishes. Sunday we went earlier but was still a bit hit and miss. The various warnings placed around the hotel (including on the beds) advising you to go to breakfast super early were not conducive to a relaxed weekend away. Not critical - but takes the shine off an otherwise good hotel. In a 4* hotel I hope to have breakfast when I choose not when the hotel wants me to! Would happily stay in the hotel again but probably skip the breakfast.

The hotel is very new. But it doesn't feel like a five-star hotel, it's more like a high-end business fast. Lille has fewer star-rated hotels, and Baliari is a good choice. The location is very good, 3 minutes from the railway station, and there are large commercial plazas nearby. There is also a park opposite the hotel where you can jog in the morning. Not many choices for breakfast. Overall, it is satisfactory

All went perfectly, except that it toke us a lot of time to find the bell to open the parking door when leaving the parking. Other guests have the same problem. The bell is on the left wall at the bottom of the exit ramp, unreachable from your car at the top of the exit ramp. The room has four big windows, a perfect not too soft, not too hard bed, a little bar with a few free soft drinks, ... As always in Mercure hotels: they have a way to hide the button / outlet / ... for the coffee machine :-) We didn't find how to start the coffee machine. Hint: ask a reduction for the coffee machine you cannot use!

The place was quite low-key, a few steps from Gare Lille Flandres (which was the reason I picked it in first place). The hotel is not the newest one, and the interiors are tired. The staff spoke English, I was checked in no problem and was given advice around town. What surprised me is that the room was much less tired than corridors. The worst part was the tiny shower, which was fit so snugly into the bathroom that I think if I were a few kilos heavier, I might not have made it. The bedroom was actually comfortable and I had a very nice sleep. The soundproof was not the best though. The breakfast was included into the price and it was alright (well, ibis Budget in Krakow fared better in this aspect, but the Premiere Classe Lille Centre's breakfast it was ok to survive till lunchtime). I do not recommend this place for the people with mobility issues.

The hotel is very clean and the deco is right and modern. The staff is quite sympathetic, available at reception 24h/24. For the apartments there is a deco effort but the old moquette is cut, as well as the bay giving on the balcony. The rooms are soundproofed, except for the glass bay, which lets pass all the noise of the street, to the neighbors' TV. Some apartments are housed by Polish workers in the year, who take their comforts by increasing the volume of television, or by creating air flows with the doors of emergency exits. The hotel is very comfortable and the hotel is very comfortable. We had more than 28°C when we were there, and some of my colleagues had a room with a condemned window: they borrowed a small fan to compensate ... Imagine the scene. In addition, my neighbor (a prior Polish per year) had privatized my part to hang it on the balcony bar, so that it could be made to its small private part and store its beer cans there. The bathroom is quite spared, old too (except the mirror, let's know why), and poorly maintained. and closed wifi (with code that was not provided to us: I didn't even seek to know, I stayed in 4G). No climate. Access to the hotel is possible all night via a code to be taped at the entrance, this code is provided when the card is delivered to the The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable.

What more do I need to say? 28 stays - and the next one is booked! The hotel is so lovely - a historic building, easy walking distance from the Eurostar station. The hotel feels more like a cross between a hotel and a hostel, and has many good points but also some reservations. It’s modern and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The reception and communal area has a kitchen available for use, plus reception can sell you hot drinks and very limited food. The decor is fresh and “urban”, overall a nice change from most hotels. The rooms are all accessed via external stairs and walkways, plus there is ample free parking for the hotel. Recycling and other environmental actions are encouraged. The rooms are very basic and very small. The en-suite bathrooms are the width of a standard shower, so very little room in front of the sink. Fine for an overnight stay, but not great if you are planning to stay longer. Extra towels, use of TV, and several other features that are generally inclusive, are charged extra in this hotel. The location is good if you need to park a car, but not great for the city centre. There is no nearby public transport, but taxi rides (Uber in our case) are around €10. So a great concept, but if you are planning on spending most of your time in Lille then it may be worth spending extra and staying in the city centre.

This hotel was just great. Good staff very helpful. Perfect size room for b & b all clean. Lifts to all floors. Self service breakfast superb bread, croissants, cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon , yogs, fruit, coffee and juice. Can order takeaway to eat at the hotel. Keep plenty of spares of all sorts. You do need to be a good walker unless you use the metro or buses, it’s approx 25 mins from the main town centre but it is a nice walk and all on the flat. 9 mins from the Eurostar station. Highly recommend.

Originally thought that the so-called kitchen only microwave oven, I did not expect the pots and pans are very complete, even the dishwasher has it. The room is also very spacious. Next door is the eurollille shopping plaza, and the first floor is Carrefour. If you bring your family together, it is not more suitable. Lille is small and it takes a few minutes to walk to the old town. The crown holiday that moved to the company the next day was more than 1,000, and it was really not much worse. Breakfast Citadines is the kind of self-help type of Youth Hostel, 11 Euro is not recommended.

I booked a room for two days with credit card. I was informed that this is a non refundable deal - it was ok with me. My risk. Arriving the hotel, the lady on the reception was the same from the phone...she was friendly. Entering the floor you got a feeling as in a thriller movie...lights were flickering, dirty carpet and walls and a really cheap smell in the air. Entering the room - same influence...The floor in the bathroom was an undulating ground, everything was pretty old and cheap smell all around the room. I decide to change the hotel, but not to cancel - I paid already - so, my choice to change the hotel...I could even sleep in front of the hotel on the street...I paid the room it can be just used by myself. I decided to use the parking place, because it is difficult to find a parking place in Lille and anyway, I paid already the bill. All this information I gave an another lady on the reception. After two days I gave back the remote control for the garage gate. I was wondering why my number key was not valid. Someone let me in the hotel...I went up to my room...number key was also not valid. A room maid opened the door and for my surprise the bed was used. A man came out of the bathroom, a little bit wondering about why I was in my/his room. I went down to the reception and asked them why they rent the room twice - it is forbidden to do that. They didn't agree with me, specially the manager Aurelien do not agree. I left the hotel and took the remote control with me. Till today I didn't get back my money. They took 70€ for the remote control from my credit card...congratulations, now you have finally a new, not any longer broken remote control. To all the people out there...there are nice hotels in Lille, but never, never go to this hotel...all around the hotel are drunken and drugged people, sex shops etc...and with a hotel manager that is renting rooms twice even if you have paid it!

Location is excellent, walking distance to every touristic spot. Also walking distance from Eurostar. The room was basic but as we expected. Staff was nice and room was clean. Perfectly located at the heart of the city and walking distance from all points of interest. It has the big advantage of offering parking space in the internal courtyard. Beautiful architecture with its white facade and high ceilings. Many colourful art pieces add a modern touch to a traditional architecture. Rooms are spacious with zen decoration. Breakfast is continental with a small buffet and the viennoiseries are to die for. Service is overall very good but they missed the turn down for one of our 2 rooms and no one was there to help with the luggage. Overall a great experience in this Relais et Châteaux in Lille.

This hotel had the friendliest reception staff, the check in receptionist was especially helpful, giving us a map and marking all the good places to visit. We only stayed one night as a stopover travelling back from the South of France back to London, using the Eurostar from Lille. We had booked the junior suite with the jacuzzi tub - the room was lovely; spacious and well appointed. The toilet is in a separate small room to the bathroom which is quite common in France but is a bit odd as it's like going in a cupboard!! The bath was fantastic, a proper jacuzzi tub which was welcomed by my tired feet after a busy few days of lots of walking. The decor of the hotel is very modern and chic throughout, especially the Jane restaurant. The room was also well decorated although i wasn't personally a fan of the sofa and curtain colour, and a suggestion is that include a foot stool in the room as there is certainly space for this and it's nice to be able to put your feet up and the sofa is not comfy to sit on 'longways' and put your feet up. The bed was large and comfy. A couple of small negatives, we did hear heavy footsteps a number of times late evening when we were trying to relax in the room (they sounded like they came from above but couldn't have done so as we were on the top floor). Also the breakfast selection was underwhelming, we came down at 10am, an hour before it was due to finish serving and a number of items needed replenishing - the bacon, sausages and french toast were all cold, and there were no waffles left when I went back to get one. Also no cold drinks other than freshly squeezed orange juice (although they did have a cool machine for this). So we were dissapointed with this. However, a well located hotel with friendly, helpful staff and nice decor. We would return.

We stayed at Novotel Suites with 2 adults and 2 kids. The room was spacious and light, the windows are soundproof and can be opened. So the room can be aired as often as we like. We visited Lille during the heat wave, and the AC at the hotel worked fine. Compared to other Novotel Suites we've stayed in, this is definitely one of the sober ones. The covid19 measures taken are mostly visible during breakfast. The buffet was limited in choice and minimized shared surfaces. Fresh bread, fruit salad and muesli are individually pre-packed. We do have some remarks on the cleaning in general. Upon arrival, the soap dispensers in the room were visibly dusty on top. The cleaning staff could have done a better job. If you need your room serviced, you need to use the door sign. We stayed in room 203, the water pressure in the shower was dramatically low. The location of the hotel is very convenient if you travel by TGV. It's literally across the street from Lille Europe station. 10 min. walk to downtown, 5 min. walk to Euralille shopping mall.

This hotel has a lot of pluses and minuses. It is in an excellent location in the old city, which is closed to cars. It has a very good fresh breakfast and the staff are extremely nice. We want to give special credit to Simona, the Front Desk Manager, who went out of her way to insure that we had a good stay. She was friendly, helpful and very competent. The minuses are that there is no elevator, which makes it impossible for a person with disabilities to stay at the hotel. The hotel itself is a bit frayed, like its towels. It needs a make-over and strangely it has no soap bars. Soap comes in a squeeze bottle at the sink and tiny bottles in the shower.

Arrived late on a Sunday evening and was checked in quickly by the night staff. As an Accor gold member, I was offered a free bottle of beer as my complementary welcome drink (the bar was closed). The location of the hotel is excellent, both for car parking but also visiting the sites, bars and restaurants that Lille has to offer. WiFi worked well. I didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel. One big issue was the lack of functioning air conditioning, which was problematic given the prolonged period of hot weather (daily 35C+) in France during my stay. I appreciate Mercure isn’t a luxury brand and this is an old building, but decent air con at night is a must in four star hotel in summer. I changed room and was given an upgrade to a first floor mini suite, which had an excellent view but wasn’t much cooler. It was an uncomfortable night’s sleep. The only redeeming feature was that my original privilege room and the suite have free soft drinks (including Evian) in the mini bar. I will avoid this hotel in the summer.

I am surprised to read about the unsafe surroundings of this hotel. I stayed for one night with my fiance and had a quite pleasant experience. The interior of the reception, restaurant and garden area is beautiful. The room was bigger than expected, also perfectly clean and functional (tv, coffee machine, air condition). We took a walk late in the night in the downtown and felt perfectly safe. There is also a cool pub and as it turned out - a club! - just around the corner where locals hang out and party. We went for some drinks to observe and enjoy our time. We had a blast! The only criticism I could have is that I could hear the noise from the foyer, but I am a sensitive sleeper and it could happen anywhere.
