Nice hotel close to the railway station and transport hub. Room was nicely decorated with a car them of course. Breakfast was upto the usual standard. Overall a pleasant stay. The hotel parking was not available I think because of repairs but on street parking was satisfactory.

The Ashley is an okay hotel if you are staying in Le Mans at any other time than when the weekend that the motogp is held and you are paying the ‘normal’ price. The price was hiked massively for this weekend and therefore made it poor value for money. The room was basic but very clean but while we had a room at the back it was quite noisy at night from the outside bars. The WiFi was quite poor and one of the worst I’ve experienced requiring continued and multiple log ins. The location is the big plus as it is opposite the station and right next to the tram lines that enable you to get around Le Mans with ease. At the normal rate this hotel is good value for money but not on a race weekend.

Having seen a complaint in the reviews that they were hard to find, I e-mailed the hotel: "Please e-mail detailed parking instructions. We will have two cars." The last thing I want to do in an unknown big city is drive around lost. The next day I got their answer: "Hello, Our carpark is 10.00€ fir the night per car. Best regards, The Front Office". I considered this grossly discourteous and was livid. "Detailed parking instructions" is *not* the price of a parking space! And sure enough, when we arrived, while we could see the hotel from a distance, there seemed to be no way to get at it! The hotel was in the middle of a fenced-in area. And no way in hell to stop anywhere on the busy narrow road past it to investigate. We circled a couple of times past the hotel, aided by round abouts, but none of us had a clue how to get at the hotel. So eventually I drove into a parking garage on the street and the other car followed. Then we went on foot to investigate from there. It turned out that while there is a gate that was clearly solidly closed, there is actually an outer and an inner fence. And you can drive *in front of the closed gate* into the gap between the inner and outer fence to circle around to the hotel. Being so hard to find, this hotel should provide detailed instructions even without being asked. Instead they simply ignore requests for info! Another thing, after we had checked into our three rooms, widely spaced apart throughout the hotel, I tried to call room to room to the other rooms. Did not work! So I called reception. They told me I had to come down to reception to ask permission to call room to room! I just ignored it since I was sure the other people would come down to the reception eventually anyway. For the rest the hotel was fine. No other complaints at all about the clean modern rooms. They have a restaurant for breakfast, where you can get things like pizza in the evening. This was very helpful on Easter Monday evening, when *every* restaurant in Le Mans was closed. (Easter Sunday was OK, but most restaurants in Le Mans are already closed Monday evenings anyway, and on Easter Monday, all the rest was apparently too; we really tried everything.) For some reason I am clueless about, you cannot charge drinks and food there to your room, but it is no big deal.

Visiting Le Mans on way North to channel ferry having been here for the 24h race many times in 80's and 90's. Had a hotel booked then as we approached the city my wife noticed an error in "my" hotel booking....we had no hotel for the night!!. Frantic on-line search found this place just an hour before arrival. From outside it's just a town house with a view of river (parking a bit of a pain) but from the moment you arrive the welcome is warm, the interior is a delight, the bedroom very comfortable the help from owners amazing and in the morning breakfast was lovely. They had one hour notice of our arrival yet it felt like we were family returning home. 100% recommendation, loved it. Thank you.

We have stayed a couple of times at the hotel and always found it to be reasonable priced and staff helpful and friendly. The hotel has refurbished some of its bedrooms and we got allocated on on the 1st Floor. Bedroom was spacious, modern and very clean. It has been refurbished to a high standard Did not dine or have breakfast in the hotel so unable to comment Bar we always enjoy a beer before heading to catch the tram into town Tram stop is 2 minutes from hotel and goes directly in to Le Mans where there are numerous cafes/bars/restaurants. You purchase a ticket via credit card before you board the tram on the platform - remember to validate your ticket when you bord. Cost is 1.50 euro per person for a single journey. Get the T1 tram - red line towards Universetie and get off at Republique. When returning to hotel again T1 tram - red line towards Antares & MMArena Think the last tram from town is about 11pm at night on a Sunday when we stayed Free car parking on site, Free WiFI and within walking distance to Le Mans Circuit Overall great hotel will stay again

I brought a coach load of 80 music fans to the hotel in late November 2019. For a small hotel in a residential area, it was understandable that we had issues parking our coach. The check in was efficient especially considering the number of rooms we were occupying. Staff were helpful and breakfast service was great. The only downside was, after a long journey from the UK, our group were thirsty & the bar ran out of beer. Not the hotel’s fault but the local shops did a good trade on alcohol which the hotel could’ve taken instead. Thanks

We specifically upgraded our room on the understanding that we'll be able to have a long soak in a bath after a days drive. Although the room description indicates the room will have a bath. There was no bath in the superior room! However, the hotel looked great, so we looked forward to a nice meal by the pool (which the kids really enjoyed) after such a long journey. Unfortunately, we ordered egg and tuna. Well, 1.5 hard boiled eggs with a spoonful of tuna mixed with the remnants of the yoke and mayo. The accompanying salad (chopped lettuce) was undressed. My daughter ordered Pate and toast, which arrived toast-less and again the salad was undressed and dry. For main, this place is clearly a meat or burger joint. The fish was dry (overcooked) and the whole meal was under seasoned. The increase in price, does not mean you'll receive better quality. The more economical Imbis we stayed in on the way south, was by far better and provided far more for our children. Despite everything I've said, we still enjoyed our stay. We'd just look for a place to eat nearby. And, not bother upgrading for an over night stop off.

Breakfast is a typical Western food, a variety of bread, jam, ham, cheese, milk, coffee, hot chocolate, juice and more. Hotel location is very good, about 10 minutes walk from the old city, about three minutes from the light rail station bus station, convenient transportation. The English at the front desk is very good, no need to worry about French. Hotel WiFi is also easy to use, you can watch videos online. However, there are fewer parking spaces in the hotel.

I had a perfectly nice one night stay at La Pommeraie in Le Mans. Check-in was very easy, we arrived around 4p on a Monday and the whole process took around 10 minutes. Check-out was similarly easy. The parking on-site was free and were were able to park in the back area of the hotel by the gardens. Our room was clean and the garden area in the back looked like the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine (we just ran out of time!). We paid the ~10 Euros for the continental breakfast which begins at 7a and it was perfect for a quick meal before hitting the road in the morning. The staff was super friendly and I was immediately greeted at breakfast by the server who asked how I slept and what I would like to drink. I would definitely stay here again while visiting Le Mans! A few notes: - There was no AC in the room but there was a small fan provided. As a result the room was a little hot during a 90 degree summer but it did cool down slightly at night. - There is no separate shampoo/ conditioner provided (just an all-in one bodywash/ shampoo) so if you have hair that doesn't respond well to 2 in 1 then pack your own toiletries! - The hotel is a few minutes drive from the central town of Le Mans so there aren't a ton of restaurants around. This was not an issue for us since we were using the hotel as more of a place to sleep at night rather than spend a ton of time at. - There are a few stairs to get up to the check-in area so be prepared to walk up those with your luggage. If you're looking for a wallet friendly hotel and not a luxurious hotel experience then I would definitely recommend the hotel!

I have used Campanile hotels countless times since they were first launched. Why? Because I find them good value for money, conveniently located along the main travel axes in France and because they offer a consistent, acceptable standard of accommodation. Sometimes I am disappointed that a particular hotel has not been refurbished to the latest generation, sometimes I am pleasantly surprised to find something beyond my expectations. This time, it was the latter. Instead of the standard restaurant menu which we had been offered so many times, the chef/dirigeant had prepared his own special menu for the day, using ingredients he had sourced himself. With no hesitation, I chose Moules de Bouchot frites and my wife chose Gambas. What a pleasant surprise to have such beautifully prepared dishes from nearby Mont St. Michel. When a hotel is run by the chef, then you will come back for more! So on this account, I give the hotel a higher rating than I would otherwise. It is a large Campanile, on three floors, close to the town centre and with good connections to the Le Mans Circuit. It is dog-friendly and I saw quite a few at the hotel as a doggy event was taking place nearby. But they were all well behaved and we had a good nights sleep.

A good budget hotel, in a central-ish location - an easy short stroll from the Cathedral etc. But it is in a quiet (and pleasant) back-street so you probably won't find it unless you use your SatNav - opposite the cathedral, turn up the right hand side of the film theatre plaza, aiming for its car park (behind) but immediately before you reach the film theatre car park entrance, stay on the highway by turning sharp right - and you are getting very close to your final destination. Parking (and check-in) are no longer via the Mercure hotel next door (as they were in 2018), but parking is now on the street, outside the hotel's front door, and is free - so that is OK. Bedroom/bathroom clean and comfortable; breakfast (cold buffet only) is good. Have used before, and would happily use again - it is basic but clean and works fine for B&B.

Having stayed here previously, I decided to go for it again. I pre-booked for on the way to Disneyland from Saint Malo and again for the way back. The staff are great - let me just say that. The staff are legitimately friendly and welcoming. Whilst the hotel can be faulted, the staff cannot. The car park is free and well sized. Room #1 - we arrived fairly early, crossed the road to Carrefour (there is literally a decent sized shop directly opposite the hotel) to get some snacks and returned to settle in for the evening. Again, like last time; at this point the room is cheap and not especially cheerful. The kids were on the bunk beds watching tv and I was laying on the main bed, reading. As I’m laying there, with the bedside lamp overhead, I noticed my head feeling warmer and warmer. I felt my hair and it was very hot to the touch. Almost at the same moment, one of my daughters screamed. Her twin sister and her had been playing a stupid game where #2 was pretending to be asleep, so #1 pushed her arm to wake her... her arm had touched the bedside/overhead little lamp on the bunk bed and quite severely burnt her. Indeed it left a mark, which she would be sporting for the whole holiday. Surely it’s bad enough having such hot lamps above the double bed - but to have them on the bunk beds too (directly over their heads), which will generally only ever have children sleeping in them, isn’t acceptable. You could feel the heat coming off them from a distance. Room #2 - lesson learned with the lights (stay clear of them!) but this was the worst of the three rooms we have experienced (from 2015 and now). There was black mold on the wall and a large stain on the carpet. This room felt dirty and I just wanted to leave from the offset. We did try the breakfast this time. It was alright with a fair selection of the normal continental breakfast items. Not the best I’ve had but it was better than starvation... I don’t like to be overly negative but having attempted this hotel three times now, with two negative experiences and one mediocre one - I don’t think I’d say there again.
